My visa was approved few days ago. It was just easy for me as I spent less than 1 minute with the VO. Thanks a lot for all that have posted useful information here. It really helped me. My transcripts are as follows:

VO: hello
Me: Hello, Good Afternnoon
VO: Good Afternoon Mr...... I can see from your application that you are going to Texas. For what pupose?
Me: Im going there to attend a conference, I have been invited to present a paper at the conference
VO: What do you do here in Nigeria?
Me : Im a researcher. I work with so so so research center at sooo sso univeristy
VO: Have u traveled out of the country before
Me Yes,, I was at Netherlands for my Masters, I was at SA for a conference last year, I visited.......
VO. (Cuts in), Mr ..........., Ive just approved your visa and you can pick it up on soo soo date at your selected location
Me: Thank you and bye
VO: BYE

Based on my experience at the place , my advise are as follows:
1. Have a genuine reason for filing an application. The VO have been trained to identify potential immigrants
2. Be honest with you application
3: Be composed, do not over do things or try to woo the VO by all means. you might just be labelled desperados and being rejected.. Just answer your questions as simple as possible
4. Be prayerful. So that you are not interviewed by a "sadist". There is one black woman (VO) that kept on rejecting people on that day. Whereas, many people that found themselves in the front of a white VO on that day were just so lucky. I was intervied by her.
I wish all the applicants success in their various interviews

Its quite unfortunate that some people are so daft to the extent of making such enquiry about GMB. Like some posters have rightly said, the one with a terminal degree (PhD) still bleeped the whole country up and has led us astray for complete six years!. So my brother, good governance is not directly linked to your level of education, its about your ability to make the right decision at the right time, to lead by example and to always be credible everything that you do. Lets change this country positively now, enough of this clueless government.

tzetzefly:

Your primary purpose for visit should be recorded on your application, which means, that is, the city likely going to be your primary point of entry.

Any other business in the States, is your private business. Remember not to overstay your visit if successful at your interview.

Thank you for your advise. I really appreciate it.

Travel / Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by aagadeogun(m): 2:42pm On Aug 12, 2013
somebody should advise me here please. I applied for schengen visa at the visa application centre , Lagos on 26th June, 2013 and my biometrics was captured on 27th June, 2013.
The purpose of applying for the visa is to attend a short course in Netherlands between Sept 16th to 30th 2013 for which the Netherland Government has already awarded me a fellowship which covers all the financial implication throughout the period of the short course. My host institution has already booked a return flight ticket from 13th -28th of September 2013 while the insurance and accomodation for the period has been secured for me. At the point of submitting my documents, I was told that the instruction date for applications submitted on day will be from 24th Sept, due to backlogs of application at the embassy which means, my application may not be treated on time to meet my schedule trip.
I have mailed the embassy twice, sent a letter and other required documents through DHL explaining the situation to them but up till now, Ive not heard a word from them. What else can I do to salvage the situation?. Would they ever treat my application before my trip?. Please, I need your advise badly .

Thanks

Please, I need advise from nairalanders on my pressing issues as per obtaining visa at the France embassy in Lagos. I got a Fellowship from Netherlands Government that covers everything (Stipends, return ticket, insurance, accomodation etc) for a short course betwwen 16-28th Sept 2013. I was at VFS on 26th June for submission of application and was told that the instruction date of my application will be 24th Sept.Already, my host institution has already booked a return ticket from 13th-28th Sept and insurance to cover the period of the 2-week short course. The implication of this is that may not be able to travel as scheduled by my institution. I was at the embassy for biometrics on 27th June. I explained the situation to the woman in charge and she asked me to send a mail to them explaining in detail my situation. I have done this on 1st July but up till now , my mail was neither acknowledged or replied. is there any hope of getting reply from them.? What else can I do to let the embassy know that my case is emergency as I cannot change the date of the short course which have been fixed a long time ago.? I have expired shengen and uk visas on my old passport that I submitted with the new one at the VFS centre. Kindly advise me on what to do as I dont want to loose this great opportunity,
Regards.

Impossibility only lies with human being, not with Allah SWT.Im not so surprised that a lot of " Doubting Thomases" have expressed their mind on the autheticity of this story.Well, this is a great sign from God, for those that can reflect. A proverb in yoruba language says " Aja to ba maa sonu ni, ko ni gbo fere ode".Thank God that I am a muslim.
