I second yelanst, it has been a free and fair award so far, but i guess like all normal Nigerians, I'm waiting for the Nigerian-factor to come in especially with the tranche-based payments. |
yes, I did too |
Got the info to apply off NL too and was successful. Always kinda knew I was gonna be one of the lucky ones cos of the way the programme was/is structured. Can attest to the transparency of the system and tot he goodwill form the FMF and Jonathan. I hope more people apply in the next round and take advantage of this opportunity as most business people know how hard it is to get funding no matter how lucrative and sustainable your business is. |
@Rume, would call you asap. @stpat1, leave your details and I'll be in touch to discuss the terms |

i would advise any serious entrepreneur to apply during the next phase, I did apply as a one-off and was chosen as one of the 6000 stage 2 participants although December was a busy period for me and i couldn't attend the training full time. I know that I would get a grant from them due to the experience i have and the quality of my submission. Kudos to the initiative. |
Tehnically LNG is liquefied for easy transportation. What your question should be asking is the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) which is being promoted and would be enhanced dramatically if the PIB is enacted into law. Oando is being quite prudent in early participation in this sector of the downstream petroleum industry. A few other companies including NGC are currently laying pipelines which would be the primary and safest method of distribution to the market. |
Fellow citizens, After watching the success of our North African brothers and sisters in toppling some regimes, it is worthy to note that they only got what they requested for which is the norm. They pursued their leader and are in care of equally as bad leadership right now. Fine it is a move toward democracy but we need to understand if they #Occupied till they actually got the democracy then that would indeed have been a better result for them and their efforts. In our case here in Nigeria, A buildup of so many issues have let the Government feel they are now invincible and will act as they wish, I hope this their belief would be disproved by our protesting efforts. I believe we should not limit out protests to only reversal of the subsidy removal as if we get this at the end of these unfortunate deaths and suffering we would only be returning to the status quo of corruption and mismanagement that have plagued us for so long. I think this would be a good juncture in our history for everyone to finally demand their rights and hold our well-meaning Goodluck led government to account so that come 2015 if they do not meet our demands they can be voted into oblivion. A few things to demand before the strike is called off that I believe are more important than the fuel subsidy and would yield dividends in the future would be as follows. I hope others to contribute and this gets to out representatives - 50% reduction in recurrent expenditure by the government and the savings committed to verifiable tangible infrastructure improvement ( i.e. if our learned friends can sit down with the budget and identify specific amounts that can be saved and allocated towards major projects then the government would have to agree to this before we return to normal. ) If this saves 500billion, then we can demand a 3 billion dollar power plant/refinery that all can see at a specified date. - Autonomous EFCC/Prosecuting Agency with a special court and Prisonto tackle corruption solely. - Yearly Time sheet from goverment stating their plans from now till MAY 2015 so that their achievements and failures can be transparent. Ill stop there for now and hope we can all contribute |
The one thing we are missing here is thus no matter the price the free market dictates for the retail price of PMS, the government can always manage this much better the ultimate price of pMS is dependent on the"price of crude from which it is refined'" plus 'the refining cost" plus ""the transportation cost"" plus ""the profit margin to traders ."" The government can regulate the crude price and the profit margin. This is where the real debate on subsidy should be: govt can decide like how it is in many oil producing nations to apportion an amount of the total daily crude production for local use(COST LESS Subsidy). This must be well monitored to ensure that smuggling and exportation does not occur.( how possible this is should be determined vis a vis the feasibility of removing the subsidy totally) This form of subsidy does not cost us directly in terms of the nations current account and actually provides jobs and industry. The refining can either be carried out by the private sector or public sector or both to encourage competition and efficiency. The locally refined PMS can then be sold to marketers at a fixed markup. This will eradicate the current corruption in the system used for subsidy. All the above can be monitored centrally as there would be less than 15 refineries satisfying the total demand in Nigeria. How hard can it be to record how much crude is supplied to the refineries and how much products leave their gates? BTW NNPC DOES NOT pay market prices for its crude. so how can they be allowed to sell refined products based on this? (ANOTHER FRAUD) NNPC ALSO does not know how much crude is produced daily in Nigeria NNPC should be properly audited and then we can begin to understand what is happening in the Nigerian oil sector as per the above comments on silenced arguments. SubSIDY in its current form MUST go and a transparent replacement that would allow for the current expenditure on subsidy to be put to use in better ways shoudl be developed. |

Narrated Sahl (Radi-Allahu 'anhu): The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said, 'Where are those who used to observe fasts?' They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry the gate will be closed and nobody will enter through it." |
