Business To Business / Fogsecure Launched To Protect Nigeria Businesses And Homes Against Robbery by ABAboi: 11:32am On Sep 25, 2012
Bludel Technologies Limited (http://bludel.com.ng) a United Kingdom and Nigeria based Security and Software Company, has announced the launch of FogSecure, its anti-burglary and armed robbery security solution for Nigerian businesses and homes.

FogSecure is designed to work independently, protecting Nigerian businesses and homes against intruders within seconds of its activation. It combines a high-density smoke fogging system which rapidly restricts intruders’ access to the premises by removing their ability to make contact with employees, customers and properties.

FogSecure security package seamlessly integrates with alarm systems to add extra level of deterrence and a notification mechanism that sends instant messages to security agencies to inform them about an ongoing crime.

Bludel’s Managing Director, Mr. Dennis Orji, reacting to the launch stated “We are elated to be launching FogSecure to the Nigerian market after 2 years of planning and development. FogSecure effectively puts security in the hands of Nigerian businesses, especially banks, the downstream sector and supermarkets, providing them with round-the-clock security against violent crimes such armed robbery and burglary”.

He continued: “Though the development of FogSecure faced challenges such as erratic power supply, unreliable internet services, etc., as expected in any developing country, our in-depth knowledge on Nigeria’s security challenges and our experienced and dedicated research & development team at our development center in Cambridge, England helped us mitigate these challenges” he added.

FogSecure can be installed by a wide array of industries such as Banks (http://www.fogsecure.com.ng/nigerian-bank-security.php), Oil and gas industries, schools, stores, supermarkets, malls and easily customized for use across Nigerian homes.

For sales and further information on this solution please visit FogSecure website: http://www.fogsecure.com.ng or email sales@fogsecure.com.ng

Programming / Re: Asp.net And Microsoft .net Technology Followership by ABAboi: 5:19pm On Jun 09, 2011
Beaf:

I would strongly advise anybody getting into the rich to overflowing .NET World to embrace C#. VB.NET is a dying language.

One more thing, you do not have to buy Microsoft products like Visual Studio and SQL Server. You can get most things done with the Express versions which are all FREE!

http://www.microsoft.com/express/

I don't know if this works in Nigeria though, but if you are a student, you can get bucket loads of FREE software (Visual Studio, SQL Server, Windows Server 2008 etc) from:

https://www.dreamspark.com/default.aspx
In as much i support what you have written so far, i vehemently oppose your views on VB.NET. Haven worked with VB.NET for over 5 years, i do not see it dead, it gets refreshed each time a new framework is released. you should be able to differenciate your biased view on VB.NET from real life.
Programming / Re: Deployment In Vb.net Please Urgent Help by ABAboi: 4:35pm On Jun 09, 2011
With my 5yrs experience working with VB.NET, i can tell you that boogie_1's advise is the best so far. You can either use the default application startup path or a designated folder to copy your database.
You can check if .NET framework is available by going to Projects-->Properties-->>Publish-->> Prerequisites, Then select what ever u need to be present before your program can be installed, Goodluck
Programming / Re: Please What Really Is Object Oriented Programming. by ABAboi: 4:17pm On Jun 09, 2011
This is an easier way to understand OOP. It is just an interesting interpretation of your DFD diagrams. You structure your classes (abstract, inherited etc) based on diagrams you have modelled.
Politics / Re: A Muslim Who Risk All To Save His Xtian Neighbours by ABAboi: 11:30am On Apr 25, 2011
The violence in the Islamic Republic of Northern Nigeria (IRNN) is further tarnishing the image of Nigeria. I was stopped and profiled in heathrow airport on arrival from Lagos. The man asked me what i knew about the Boko haram and Muslim fanatics,  I simply replied "i am from the south and dont know anything about them". the earlier we disengage with this blood suckers the better we avoid the re-occurrence of events like this.

You will need to import the SQLCLIENT/OLEDB name space

Imports System.Data.SqlClient
Public Class LoginForm
Private cs As New SqlConnection("Data Source=DENSMAN-PC\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=aba;Integrated Security=True"wink ' You can change this to reflect the actual location of your database
End class

Programming / Re: Automated Teller Machine Project by ABAboi: 12:56pm On Apr 20, 2010
Reduction in E-banking to the barest minimum is more of an optimistic view than realistic one. You have to take into account that thousands (if not millions) live on the crime, thus actively learning how to beat the latest security measure. I must say, reduction in E Crime goes well ahead computer softwares etc. Currently, here in the UK, they use card reader, and a third party software( called rapport ) to protect bank customers from on-line threats. I still think Nigeria is not yet ripe for the deployment of those procedures, online faud has come to stay for sometime untill we get our infrastructures ready.
Programming / Re: Automated Teller Machine Project by ABAboi: 8:48am On Apr 20, 2010
Making ATM free from from security lapse is near impossible. The fact remains that if some one can steal ur card and pin, then ur money is at their mercy. However, there are much talks about finger print verification or imaging technology to further verify customers before they access their account, i must tell you that most errors in ATM is human error thus cannot be built in to system.
Programming / Re: Sql Server Detach & Attach by ABAboi: 8:42am On Apr 20, 2010
Hello, you will need yo use SQL Server management studio to connect to the databases. Once you are logged in, u right click on the database and u shoul see the option to detach the database file. Or you can go to the program file, locate the folder for SQL Server then select the data folder, then u can now see all database files available in the computer. select the .mdb and the corresponding log file and copy to ur destination. Done
Programming / Re: How To Convert Folder/file To Jpeg Format by ABAboi: 3:46pm On Dec 28, 2009
I dont think this is possible but This is possibly the best option here,
logica:

LOL!

Don't you think an archive format will be more appropriate (such as the popular .ZIP)?

If you would like to do this,
yawa-ti-de:

hmm, I don't think you can convert and entire folder to a file format.  Try this and let us know if it works:

1) Open windows explorer and navigate to the folder in question.
2) Locate the file you want to change
3) Highlight the file and hit F2
4) scroll to the end of the file name and enter ".jpg" - you should get a warning about changing file extensions at this point.  Just accept it

5) Open a browser, navigate to that file and make sure that you can actually open the jpg file

6) if #5 passes, go ahead and email the file as an attachment.

good luck!

You will have to edit you folder properties to display its extension

dotzok:

The approach uv adopted isnt bad actually, but as your program widens u fault and drop some ideas.

I would go with Beaf's Membership idea, for now!

But later, u'd see the necessity of making the wheels again. You may need to add your menu name, form names, role id and etc into a table say usr_access in your DB and completely manage the distribution of priviledges urself.

This implies that you're going to create a form to: create Users, assign roles to them (from a set of created roles).

You'll kip at least 2 tables to get this done. A table would kip all your menu items and their ids, the other would keep role_id and menu_id,

The moment a user logs in with his/her [id], use querry to fetch his priviledges i.e. menu items from the [roles] table, then use some vb syntax to display just those items and he sees only those menu items.

I wouldnt know if VB.Net uses Session() as does ASP;it would have helped on one side.

Regards.

Thanks dotzok, the idea is that simplicity is required in the login page(thats the functional requirement of the system) so i am trying to build the system based on the required specifiation. To create staff and their roles, the administrator will be able to create, assign roles and generate a temporary passwords which the users will change when they successfully login to the system. As per the sessions() available in ASP, i will check if there is any in VB
