A 66-year-old man, Mr. Clifford Osawaru, who sights his own obituary poster on some streets in Okunmwun community, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, has raised alarm lamenting that he did not know who did such act.

The father of 13, said he was shocked to spot his obituary on Thursday after he received phone calls from some of his relatives and friends who called to confirm the “announcement”.

Also the obituary poster was made available to Punch, and it was revealed that the burial arrangement was scheduled for August 14, 2015 after his “remains” leaves the Central Hospital to his residence.

Speaking to the newsmen, Osawaru explained that he had been at loggerheads with some members of the community over the illegal sale of land after he was made the patron, he was surprised to find out some persons could announce his death and burial arrangement while he was still hale and hearty.

President Muhammadu Buhari has given military chiefs three month within to defeat the Boko Haram insurgency.

The president gave the marching order Thursday at the State House in Abuja while decorating recently appointed service chiefs with their new ranks.

The decorated service chiefs – General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin , Chief of Defence Staff; Lt-General T.Y. Buratai, Chief of Army Staff; Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar , Chief of Air Staff – were appointed on July 13 and confirmed by the Senate on August 4.

The manager, Bank of Agriculture, Obehie branch, Ben Onyiriuka, on Wednesday promised that the bank would increase its financial support to leather workers in Ariaria Market.

Speaking with the news men in Aba, Onyiriuk, made the promise after he met with the executives of Leather Product Manufacturers Association (LEPMAS), Aba

He said that extending such facility to them became necessary because of the viability of the industry and its importance to boosting the nation’s economy.

Fight broke out between the two parties at the Election Tribunal hall in Umuahia yesterday, as APGA members accused PDP of frustrating the exercise by applying delay tactics.

The loyalists of the two parties shouted, booed and harassed one another. Trouble started when a camera man from a Lagos- based television station who was covering the exercise, was taken away by security agents.

The cameraman, Chinedu, was accused of videoing the computer screen of the PDP forensic experts, and the attention of a PDP lawyer was drawn. She immediately made a call and a Hilux load of mobile police-men landed at the tribunal ground and took Chinedu away to an unknown place, after collecting his camera.

An APGA representative, Mr Michael Akpara told newsmen that the uproar started when they noticed that their opponents wanted to slow down the exercise. A member of PDP team, is a forensic expert, declined to disclose his identity, told newsmen that
the altercation ensued when the cameraman came into the hall and moved beyond his limits and started videoing the screen of his computer.

A facebook user, Kuaho share his experience with Power Bank recently how he had put the power bank in his pocket and it apparently went on fire, burning his pocket, nearly burning his leg.

26-year-old Chinonso Onyebuchi, from Enugu State, claimed to be an intra-city bus driver on the Ariaria-Faulks road route Aba, has been arrested by The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Abia State Command, on Monday,

The Commander of NDLEA in the state, Mr Bamidele Akingbade, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the man, Chinonso Onyebuchi, was caught with 20.3 grammes of cocaine, 27.5 grammes of heroin and some wraps of Indian hemp.

He said that the suspect was caught with over 100 wraps of cocaine and heroin which he sells at N100 and N50 respectively.

Three socio-political groups in Abia State have petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari over the delay in the trial of former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu for allegedly looting the state during his eight-year administration.

the statement was signed by the leaders of the groups- NdiAbia League, Abia Youths Consultative Forum and Abia Peoples Congress, they lamented that the trial of the former governor had been ongoing since 2007 and urged the President to order the EFCC to expedite the trial, to ensure that justice was done on the matter.

A major accomplice of rogue broadcaster Radio Biafra, an engineer based in Enugu has been apprehended by the Department of State Security operatives. according to source was said to have being transported to Abuja as at Press time of filling this report.

The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia has dismissed the Petition filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last election, Chinenye Nyerere Anyim against the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and governor of Abia state, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for negligence in prosecution on the part of the petitioners.

Counsels to the respondents to the petition including Okezie Ikpeazu , the PDP and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had told the tribunal that neither the petitioner nor their counsels were in court even as there was no letter from either explaining their absence.

Citing relevant provisions of the electoral act, Livy Uzoukwu, the INEC counsel prayed the tribunal to apply the mandatory provisions of the relevant section of the law which he said mandated the tribunal to dismiss the petition because the petitioners failed to appear for the matter.

In his contribution, counsel to PDP, Henry Balogu observed that the petitioners and their counsels were in court on the last day of the adjournment and were quite aware of the day’s sitting but deliberately chose not to be in court and urged the tribunal to strike out the matter.
