Awolowo and Azikiwe were completely Two different political ideologies. Unlike Azikiwe who lost everything in favour of Nationalism & Pan Nigerianism, Awolowo favored autonomy based on "ethnolinguistic identity".
Rather than the lies being peddled, rather than the overtures of Azikiwe, Kwame Nkrumah and some African leaders were inspired by Awo such that his policies and the popular slogan of his Action Group -" Life more Abundant " was adopted during their campaigns.

Long before FG declared June 12 a Democracy day, SW had been religiously observing it in honor for several years. It wasn't accidental the decision of the FG to key into recognising an historic day of Democratic rebirth in Nigeria. Across ethnicity, religion, social status, tribal & political leanings, it was a day Nigeria's unity was affirmed whereupon the sacrifices of democratic heroes.
