AngelicDamsel:Do you follow politics? -Lion |
Pierocash:I don't think he killed anyone to please anyone. -Lion |
Many have wondered why the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzondima was ostensibly absent from the meeting held by his southern colleagues in Lagos, neither was a representative bearing the Governor's agreement in attendance. It's no longer news that the emergence of Gov. Uzondima was one of the most controversial circumstances, perhaps the presiding justices of the supreme were probably best informed. Conspiracy theories would lay bare that the federal might had come into full force to secure a state of the South east region where PDP is ideologically and culturally the states' party, extending beyond mere political affiliation. It remained a miracle that APC was able to resurrect the soul of its party in Imo state after Rochas Okorocha was accused of inordinate manipulations, overbearing influence and a man who was oddly considered as a symbol of a party that seemingly marginalized Ndigbo as being second class citizen. The thought of APC is like a suicide mission to as many Igbo politician under the platform of APC irregardless how qualified and intelligent he may be. Okorocha was stripped naked and disgraced while Ex governor, Ihedioha was allegedly massively voted, cheered and adored as a breathe of fresh air. But no sooner he prioritized witch-hunting over governance than was ousted through legal process. Uzondima, on the other hand, would rather set the ball rolling than throw sticks at his predecessors. However, it appeared as though the storm had just begun. The hate for APC became more manifest and people of the region became even more disgruntled at the Presidency. Uzondima would not want to ruffle feathers with his party, much less the Presidency, so he wouldn't attend any meeting that would see him share an opposing view to that of the President's interests even if it comes at the detriment of the larger southern population. His Southern colleagues couldn't have convinced him either. Having a bigger expectation ahead, he holds his plans closely to his chest. The Abuja forces were actively working behind the scenes. The big news came as a surprise to many, most probably, a shocker to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, who is arguably the most vocal opposition to the present APC Administration. He is the major financer of the opposition party, the PDP. He never would have imagined that the state's major source of wealth would be cut down neither would the indigenes of Rivers. Having less oil income is a major blow to Rivers State irrespective of party but personally, an ego bruise on Wike's megalomaniac personality. While Wike seems to be dumfounded, Uzondima is having a good laugh for being a loyal ally to the President. Rivers's loss is Imo's gain. The federal might at play! However you look at it, being overtly antagonistic to the government in power is majorly a potential economic loss. The same painful bite was meted out to Governor Ameachi when he put up a very strong rivalry to ex- President Jonathan. Rivers State paid the price of losing some number of oil wells to Bayelsa at the behest of the federal might!. With the dismantling of Ipobs Camps, neutralizing Ipob menance, recovery of oil wells, potential reelection and a lot more benefits, who would blame Uzondima for dwelling under the shadow of the federal might? -Lion |

gidgiddy:“So Ikwerre people have had their turn over and over again and I’m an Ikwerre son, my mother is Ikwerre, my father is Ikwerre, I’ve no blood from any other relationship, so Ikwerre people can’t say i am not Ikwerre”. -Lion |
nairalandankrah:You can also go ask him what Rotimi means in Igbo. -Lion |
Today you're Ikwerre, Tomorrow, you're Igbo. Ameachi is confused. -Lion |

Very powerful a rebuttal. Taking advantage of the President's mental health to issue policy statements to further a sectional interest is one step too far. Garba Shehu needed to be reminded that he is a mere political appointee with no executive authority and the Governors are the most powerful after the President. Akeredolu has proven over again that not only is he very intellectual but also a worthy leader among his peers. -Lion |
I fear for what is coming. Shekau is supposedly dead, political terrorism could be dead but the real terrorism has just begun. Nigerians brace up. I had hoped that a far more deadlier terrorist group like ISWAP would only be restricted to the fringes of lake Chad without finding a foothold on the Nigerian territory till the political jihadists have had enough to conscientiously put an end to Bokoharam which they had formed for a political reason. ISWAP having found a better, safer, bigger, more conducive fortress in Sambisa, Nigeria military is just about to bleed more than ever before. Unlike Bokoharam, ISWAP goes for the hardest of targets, Nigeria military have been excruciatingly hit and have suffered the worst by a number of ISWAP attacks recorded since the fight against terrorism. In hindsight, If those at the corridors of power who are rather sympathetic like Tanda, Pantami & co, knew that ISWAP would swoop in on Bokoharam and take out Shekau, most probably, would have drafted an Army division to fortify Sambisa. ISWAP has no allegiance to any Nigerian actors, politicians or traditional rulers, neither do they have time for propaganda videos as Shekau. ISWAP wants to establish an Islamic Caliphate, ready to take out anyone along the way. Allowing them an entrance into Sambisa will be the greatest mistake Nigeria has ever made. The next few months are pregnant. -Lion |

mancoconut:You referring to a period of time when Zik was at the top of power, a time ibo centrism was rife, when ibo almost had it all. Even when there were better qualified individuals of other regions with accompanying recommendations from the former British heads of various institutions, Zik would still go ahead to fill up top positions in federal civil service with a large number of ibos. After all, they were federal appointments and the big dog called the big shots. Some top ibo officers also replicated tribal appointments in recruitment of ibos in the service. Yoruba Ronu was apt and timely as it awakened the consciousness of an average Yoruba to the guiles of Zik and the generality of ibo's slimy nature. As they flood themselves in your space, disguised to conquer, denied the indigenes their rightful slots for his ibo kinsmen, and at most times, transferred federal contracts meant for the West to the East. In all of these, their most cherished space back home was being protected from an inch of it being occupied by an outsider, such is the case till date. With Zik being the President & Governor General, All the Federal parastatals in the Eastern region were occupied and dominated by the ibos, without any slightest consideration to the Westerners or Northerners. Zik's craziest idea of ibo domination through abuse of power was soon discovered to be the Achille's heel of ibo subjugation. Currently, the Weac results in the SE would count for nothing as long as individuals from SW are breaking records that any ibo will find it hard to match, if ever.. Aside producing an undergraduate proffessor in the history of Nigeria recently, this girl has just proven both home and abroad that she is head above any ibo child her age that could come out of the South east. -Lion

mancoconut:Emphasis on "the north". At no point in history, both pre or post-independence were ibos ever ahead of the Yoruba - Never was and Never will be. There is a reason that Yoruba have never been an inch bothered about your so called "ibo domination" fantasy which only existed in the imagination of an average ibo - the fact that Yoruba being the "head" would never give a damn regarding how the "tail" wags, so long it's stuck in between the legs. The north could be much bothered about ibos flooding her region fill up job opportunities meant for the northerners being the most educationally disadvantaged at the time as rightly expressed by Ahmadu Bello. In contrast, the Yoruba region was the standard template such that it was readily the best option for a lot of Igbos to get the best of western Education. The best of Igbo brains in the mordern era, I dare say, are Southwest trained, Ngozi okonjo iweala, Chinua Achebe, your most prized assets had a bite of the cherry. At a point, during colonialism, A certain Samuel Ajayi Crowther had come back from slavery as a missionary to teach your ibo ancestors how to read and write through the publication of the isuoma ibo premier - Till date, ibos had not shown appreciation, nonetheless, We Muuve!.. Till the end of the world, ibos can never catch up in any academic endeavor. For every 1 ibos produced, Yoruba would have produced 10 (and I'm being reasonable) -Lion |

gidgiddy:Facts are sacrosanct no matter how hard you might try to spin it. Facts are staring at you and spitting your lying face. Decree 34 was also known as " the Unification decree". All federal structures, resource control, civil service were collapsed under a unitary system under the control of a stronger central government. The regions were broken into provinces. I wonder how you guys passed through elementary school if basic comprehension could be this hard on you. -Lion |
Oliviaohms:Nigeria became a federal republic in 1963 until 1966 when Aguiyi Ironsi destroyed the structures of the federating regions. Hence, Nigeria became merely a republic with no more federal structures. -LIon |
wordcat:You argue blindly. We had Premiers elected by the people NOT Military Governors who took orders and reported to a military dictator who appointed them. All civil service structures and the entire federating units were collapsed under the control of the center. Ironsi killed Regionalism, Gowon buried it. -Lion |
gidgiddy:Lies! Regional powers and autonomy were dissolved under the control of the center. -Lion |
Oliviaohms:Try understand the difference between region and Regionalism. Aguiyi abolished Regionalism. Through the promulgation, Nigeria ceased to be a Federation but a republic. -Lion |
Akwamkpuruamu:I'd rather advice you read through the decree. It's as clear as daylight. The regions became weaker, the center was stronger such that the center was in total control of the structures of the Regions. -Lion |
AbaLion: Akwamkpuruamu:[/quote] Oliviaohms: wordcat:The bold is very instructive. -Lion |
Oliviaohms:Ojukwu was a military governor appointed by Aguiyi Ironsi. Before Ironsi took over, we had Premiers elected by respective regions. Ironsi had no intention of returning us back to parliamentary democracy having banned all political parties and political activities. -Lion |
gidgiddy:You've been dealt with several times on this issue yet you keep pushing your lies. The Regions only existed in names but Regionalism (the fundamentals, vestiges, and essentials of regions) was collapsed. -Lion |
You can never get away with this. -Lion

sarrki:The so called exam is nothing but a charade. An exam which was only limited to mere essay writing without consideration for tests on leadership skills, problem-solving skills or interpersonal skills. Elrufai may have disqualified candidates who are better qualified on the alter of essay writing. -Lion |
Gumi's template. After all, some Northern Governors are favourably disposed to it. We can all agree that the East has finally learned something from the North. -Lion |
