SportsRe: 6 Things You May Not Know About Muhammad Ali by Abatsam111(op): 9:20am On Jun 04, 2016
Sports6 Things You May Not Know About Muhammad Ali by Abatsam111(op):
1. A red-and-white Schwinn bicycle launched his boxing career.
When the 12-year-old Clay’s beloved bicycle was stolen in October 1954, he reported the theft to Louisville, Kentucky, police officer Joe Martin and vowed to pummel the culprit. Martin, who was also a boxing trainer, suggested that the upset youngster first learn how to fight, and he took Clay under his wing. Six weeks later, Clay won his first bout in a split decision.

2. He was originally named in honor of a white abolitionist.
The fighter, like his father, was named for Cassius Marcellus Clay, a 19th-century farmer and anti-slavery crusader who emancipated the 40 slaves he inherited from his father. The abolitionist, a second cousin of Kentucky Senator Henry Clay, edited an anti-slavery newspaper, commanded troops in the Mexican-American War and served as minister to Russia under President Abraham Lincoln. In defying Southern conventions of the time, Clay faced more than death threats. He was beaten, stabbed and shot by political opponents but lived to the age of 92.

3. Before becoming known as Muhammad Ali, he changed his name to Cassius X.
The morning after defeating Liston, the new heavyweight champion confirmed reports that he had become a member of the Nation of Islam. With Malcolm X at his side, the champ told reporters that he had renounced his surname, which he called his “slave name,” and would be known as “Cassius X” until Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad gave him a holy name. That name, Muhammad Ali, was bestowed on March 6, 1964.

4. Ali was banned from boxing for three years.
As the Vietnam War raged in 1967, Ali refused to serve in the U.S. military for religious reasons. The heavyweight champion was arrested, and the New York State Athletic Commission immediately suspended his boxing license and stripped him of his title. Ali was convicted of draft evasion, sentenced to the maximum of five years in prison and fined $10,000, although he remained free while the conviction was appealed. In 1970 the New York State Supreme Court ordered his boxing license reinstated, and he returned to the ring by knocking out Jerry Quarry in October 1970. The following year, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Ali’s conviction in a unanimous decision.

5. Ali starred in a Broadway musical.
During his 43-month forced exile from the ring, Ali took to the stage in the title role of the musical “Buck White.” The production opened inside New York’s George Abbott Theatre on December 2, 1969, but Ali’s stage career would be a brief one. “Buck White” closed four nights later after just seven performances. In spite of the limited run, Ali, who played a militant black lecturer, received decent reviews. “He sings with a pleasant slightly impersonal voice, acts without embarrassment and moves with innate dignity,” wrote a New York Times reviewer. “He does himself proud.”

6. He recorded an album of spoken verse.
The loquacious Ali was boxing’s poet laureate, composing verses in which he taunted opponents and praised himself. His iambic pentameter was so popular that Columbia Records released a 1963 spoken word album called “I Am the Greatest” in which the 21-year-old rising star performed his poetry, backed my musical accompaniment, before an audience. The album also included two songs by the boxer, including a cover of the Ben E. King hit “Stand by Me.”

PoliticsFinally: The Sponsors Of Niger Delta Avengers Uncovered by Abatsam111(op): 11:25pm On Jun 02, 2016
– Some close allies of Goodluck Jonathan have been put under surveillance by the nation’s security agencies following the spate of bombings of oil pipelines and other facilities by the militants in the Niger Delta region

– A top security source says the continued detention of former national security adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd) has more to do with national security than financial misappropriation

Niger Delta militants have carried out spate of bombings of oil pipelines and gas facilities in the region.
Some close associates and allies of former president, Goodluck Jonathan are suspected of being behind the on-going crisis in the Niger Delta region, a top security source has disclosed.

Leadership reports that following the spate of bombings of oil pipelines and other facilities by the militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), some close allies of Jonathan have been put under surveillance by the nation’s security agencies.

The source said though the level of ‎complicity’ of some of Jonathan’s close allies was yet to be determined by investigation, he explained that the continued detention of former national security adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd), Mr Robert Azibola (Jonathan’s cousin) as well as the former president’s special assistant on domestic matters, Dr Waripamowei Dudafa had more to do with national security than financial misappropriation.

He said: “The rate at which this issue of Avengers is going, we are looking beyond the surface of the so called conditions rolled out by the avengers. Right now, there are feelers that some top officials of the past administration actually instigated the ongoing crisis in the Niger Delta region. I mean those who were trusted allies of the principal of that period.

“That is why we are not bothered about the blackmail that going on that we are holding people illegally or refusing to allow suspects access to medicals. This is because even though we are yet to conclude preliminary investigation on this unfolding development, we will not wave added the need for deeper security scrutiny.

“What Nigerians have failed to realise is that Dasuki, Dudafa and Azibola are not the only suspects under EFCC probe. They should ask themselves why they are still being held when others with similar cases have been granted bail. Their cases have more to do with national security than financial misappropriation.”

Meanwhile, Niger Delta Avengers, which has attacked oil and gas installations in the region, has claimed responsibility for blowing up the Ogboinbiri-Tebidaba and Clough Creek-Tebidaba pipelines in Bayelsa state.

The group announced the latest attack via its official Twitter handle on Thursday, June 2.

However, the Defence headquarters has declared a massive war against the new group of militants, Niger Delta Avengers, threatening the peace of Nigeria’s Niger Delta region.

This follows the continued bombing and sabotage of economic assets particularly oil platforms by militants in the Niger Delta.

In a statement last night, June 1, the Defence headquarters vowed that the armed forces will not relent in its efforts to flush out economic saboteurs perpetrating evil in the Niger Delta under whatever name including Niger Delta Avengers.

FamilyRe: 24 Ways To Win Over Your Mother-in-law by Abatsam111(op):
13. Draw The Lines:
You married her son, and not her. Let her know when she is crossing
the boundaries. Do this compassionately and very subtly. Get clues
from your spouse. In the African setting, many mother-in-laws find it
very easy to intimidate wives who do not seem firm or do not even
know the basic responsibilities of a wife. But remember, in asserting
your rights as a wife, do it with the tact and skills of a diplomat. Don't
get him irritated.

14. Sync Her Up With Your Own Mother:
Mothers-in-law suffer from the same 'son absence syndrome' and
always understand themselves better. Also, being of the same
generation, age and mentality, your MIL is more likely to get along
better with your mother than you, a 'flashy' babe of the 21st century.
Let your mother handle that aspect. A good relationship between the
two women will only tip the table in your favour, okay? Good.

15. Communicate With Her:
Did your heart just skip a beat?! I hear some of the ladies saying 'Over
my dead body! I can't have anything to do with my mother-in-law'.
Remember, loving the honey and hating the bees is not only
hypocritical, it does not make sense. Choose your time very well, when
she is in high spirits and have a deep, mother-daughter discussion
with her. Do not avoid your MIL. You will only succeed in making
yourself more of a stranger (which was your status before).
16. Be kind and compassionate:
Especially if she is of frail health. You've got a mother too and one
day, you will also become a mother-in-law. Remember the Golden Rule,
and yeah, the Law of Karma.

17. Chill:
Most of the time, mothers-in-law do not have any evil behind even the
most mischievous of their actions. They are only a bit insecure
thinking that no person is good enough for their child, or a woman has
come to spoil the existing mother-son relationship. Such a reaction is
perfectly normal and natural. Do not give yourself sleepless nights
over that. Studies have show that most of the time, they mean no
harm.

18. Prod Him On If Need Be:
Make sure your husband performs his roles and fulfills his
responsibilities as a child to parents. Apart from the fact that you will
be laying a very good foundation for your own kids, no one will accuse
you of being a callous wife who made him turn his back on his siblings
and parents. Be very firm and insistent on this. That he is madly in
love with you does not mean he should forget his source. Remind him
if he drifts off, it will be to your benefit.

19. Do Not Let Your Ego Get In The Way:
Do not think twice before apologizing and making amends if you have
offended her. But do not degrade yourself for something you've never
done. Do not allow anyone to blackmail you into submission or
surrender. Funnily enough, she may find it difficult to apologize to you
because of many reasons. Do not take that to heart. It is the pride of a
mother-in-law.

20. Avoid Arguments With Her:
Oh, you prefer to cook meat by boiling it and she prefers steaks? Do
not drag the issue needlessly. Calmly agree. Remember arguments
with even your own Mom do not always come out nicely. It is better to
lose an argument to your mother-in-law than for you to lose your
mother-in-law to an argument. Use your head and keep your debating
skills for your girlfriends (especially if you are a lawyer...lmao!)

21. Always See The Good Side Of Your MIL:
Positivity helps. Avoid being judgmental. You cannot form that bond
of love if you are always judging her.

22. Let Her Mingle With Her Grandchildren Freely.
Studies have shown that mother-in-laws actually see your own kids as
100% theirs! If she wants to pamper them to high heavens and take
them out and have them to herself all day long at the beach, just let
them go. You will even have the whole house to yourself and your
husband! And what can be better than that? #winks!

23. Pray, pray and PRAY!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
For those who think MILs are overbearing, you need to realize that she
actually made him who he is. She fed him, suffered for him, was hurt
because of him, kept him safe and warm, watched him grow...all these
understandably makes her possessive (she has the right to), and that
is normal (are you not jealously possessive of your hubby even
without all these, yes, you now gerrit). She may also be afraid or
insecure that she will grow old and the son she has laboured for all
her life will forget and abandon her. As a daughter-in-law, ease all
these fears, see things through her lenses and you become best of
friends!

Remember that even the strongest of marriages can be destroyed with
inlaw troubles. Be smart, diplomatic and calm in all your dealings. A
friendly disposition will go a long way to helping you and making
friends out of your enemies. Atimes, you may need to work very hard
to make it work but do not give up because it is worth it.
This post is specially dedicated to our readers who are married or
planning to marry .Very best of wishes and warm regards to your
mother-in-law!

Family24 Ways To Win Over Your Mother-in-law by Abatsam111(op):
Are you married? About to marry? Are you terrified at the mere
mention of the name 'mother-in-law'? Do you feel a few drops of hot
urine stream down your panties when you hear your mother-in-law
knocking at the door? Well, I grew up in West Africa and I know that
some mothers-in-law are actually monsters-in-law (but that is not to
say that all daughters-in-law are angels). So, how do you become best
of friends with the mother of your husband and lover? Let's roll!
As a wife, it is a great fear lurking in your heart, and you wonder: Will
my mother-in-law tear us apart? Will she hate me with passion? Or
love me like a daughter? What can I do? What will I do? Will he support
her and tell me to go to hell? Get a glass of chilled pineapple juice and
relax! I can feel your heart thumping already, and yeah, get a
handkerchief and wipe off the steamy sweat! The legendary war
between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law has been there from the
beginning of time but with wisdom, you will not only survive it, you will
be a darling daughter to your mama-in-law. Memorize these tips, girl!

1. Never See Your Mother-In-Law As Your Rival:
Actions start from thoughts and you nursing such dangerous ideas will
only lead you astray. See her as who she is: your mother-in-law and
the mother of your husband, and hopefully, your newest female friend.
She is NOT your rival. Some ladies enter marriage with a nuclear
arsenal and the mindset of 'demolishing' their 'enemy'. Don't create
problems for yourself. As a woman thinketh in her heart, so she is.
Yelz ke.

2. Do Not Put Him In A Tight Corner:
Some ladies go to the silly extent of giving the guy an ultimatum or
asking that nauseating question to choose between you and his
mother (like who does that?) If you cannot differentiate between
maternal love and spousal love, then you are not ready to become a
wife. Your roles are different, distinct AND separate. It is also an idiotic
or kpalasa husband who will ask you to choose between him or your
own mother. Water and oil are both liquids, but they just don't mix.
Hope you get that, sweetheart? Next!

3. Become A Detective:
Huh? I don't mean you have to take up a job with the FBI or the SSS,
but hell yes, get as much information as possible about your mother-
in-law. Know her preferences, understand her thinking, comprehend
what she likes (especially what will make her laugh no matter how
angry she is) and those things that really makes her go gaga with fury.
Such CIA job should not be too much for you to do for a woman you
will be stuck with for years. I said be a detective and not a spy....lol!
Your hubby will surely help you with that.

4. Be Respectful And Courteous:
According to the Yorubas, ile oko, ile eko ni. What that means is that
marriage is a place to learn (especially manners, etiquette and good
behaviour). If you really love and respect your husband in the first
place, you will have no problem with this. If you are too pompous,
arrogant or downright disrespectful, you may as well stop reading
here. In virtually all the societies of the world, respecting your in-laws
is very crucial to having a warm relationship with them and stabilizing
your own marriage. However, I must mention something very important
here: to be respectful does not mean you should become a slave or
servant. You are a wife and you must always maintain your dignity. Do
not be rude but be firm. A daughter-in-law does not have the same
spelling as a housemaid. Hope you get my English?

5. Never Make The Mistake:
Of what? Of pointing out a mistake, flaw or error of your mother-in-law
in front of your hubby. You are his wife and as a lady, there are much
more subtle and cunny ways to draw his attention. Do not criticize
your mother-in-law. Ridicule her, you ridicule your lover, and of course,
the granny of your kids. According to Shimon Peres, the Israeli
President, there are two things in life that you cannot achieve without
closing a bit of your eyes: peace and love. Let me rephrase that: the
personal lifestyle of your MIL is not your business.

6. Do Not Be Too Forward:
Inasmuch as you are to be proactive when relating with your mother-
in-law, do not try too hard to impress. Do not go to her place everyday
(familiarity breeds contempt) but see her on special occasions or when
she requests to see your lovely face (with or without your husband
and kids). According to one of the 48 Laws of Power, scarcity will
always create value. If you don't believe that, why are diamonds much
more valued than stones and rocks? You will come out as fake and
you may even be suspected of having a hidden agenda if you are
always trying too hard. Remember how that girlfriend of yours irritates
you with her fake life? Be yourself, be natural and genuine. She will
appreciate that.

7. Let Her Know You Love Him:
Yes, forget the superficial jealousy, a mother-in-law will love you to
pieces when she knows that her son is in safe hands. But, that has to
be done with maturity. Every mother wants a good wife for her son but
their maternal instincts makes it difficult for them to just let go. Blame
the hormones. Prove to her (by your actions) that you are caring
enough and you will over-ride her instincts.

8. Appreciate Her Gestures Of Kindness:
Not all mother-in-laws are devils. Some are really really very nice and
will love you immensely even before they meet you. Appreciate them
and not take them for granted.

9. Discuss With Him:
In a case where your duties as a wife are being encroached by an
overbearing mother-in-law who will dictate what he eats or what he
wears, register your displeasure with him (but relate well with her). A
loving husband will come back to his senses, and a sensible hubby
will not even allow such a scenario in the first place.

10. Place Yourself In Her Shoes:
Know that it hurts her and is a patch of mixed feelings. Yes, he is your
husband but it's still her son, even though she now knows that
another lady (YOU!) will now get all the attention and devotion that
she has received UNCHALLENGED for decades. She will
subconsciously see you as a coup-plotter ovethrowing her
'government', and displacing her from power. Once you understand
this, you should be smart enough to sympathize with her by reacting
with wisdom. In short, do not take everything personal.

11. Detach Yourself When It Gets Too Hot:
If she is still determined to give you a tough time and make life hell for
you, detach yourself emotionally and discuss with your husband. Just
know that some mother-in-laws are incorrigible and can never be
satisfied. Do not kill yourself over that. Maintain your distance but
never disrespect her or worsen the condition. At this point, your hubby
will do the rest of the healing.

12. Gauge Yourself:
Are you wicked yourself? Yes, you. Stop rolling your eyes...lol! Is there
anything evil or indecent about you that is always pissing off your
mother-in-law? For the sake of your marriage and peace in your home,
assess yourself and make sure that there is no fault from your own
side.

Business10 Crucial Steps Before You Move From Employee To Becoming An Entrepreneur by Abatsam111(op):
Are you toying with the idea of transitioning from being an employee to becoming an entrepreneur? Do you want to take the risk and be your own boss? Are you tired of helping other people grow their own businesses, and you want to become and entrepreneur yourself? I know the feeling. But before you rush out and make the switch, read on.

A friend of mine struck out and tried to start a business of his own a couple years ago. He was not prepared for the harshness that greeted him when he stepped out and decided to become an entrepreneur. He flopped spectacularly and lost almost all of his savings too.

This is the story of so many other people who have tried to do the same.

Trying to start a business has destroyed many people in the past, but this is not to say that it is unadvisable to start your own business. Most startup failures occur because the person did not adequately prepare for the ‘becoming an entrepreneur’ scene.
Preparing to transition from being an employee to becoming an entrepreneur takes more than just having a good idea that you think will sell. It requires massive forethought, mindset shift and putting the things you need in place. If you want to be successful in starting a business, there is a lot you need to do starting from when you are still an employee.

The transition from employee to entrepreneurship will be kind to you if you follow these steps below:

Adjust yourself mentally
One of the things people are least prepared for is the huge change they experience when transitioning from employee to becoming an entrepreneur or a business owner. Once you become an entrepreneur, the feeling of security you had as an employee disappears.

This is because you suddenly find yourself in charge of everything and solely responsible for the success or failure of the business. This can strike fear into many people and is the major reason why many startups fail.
employee to becoming an entrepreneur , entrepreneurial mental adjustments
Credit
You have to start to prepare for this massive change while you are still on someone else’s books.
Prepare to NOT have a fixed work timetable as you will need to be working round the clock – sometimes more mentally than physically.

Prepare to love numbers – so you can always keep track of your sales, costs, profits and loss.

And be prepared to make being uncomfortable your new comfort zone as you will constantly be taking risks.

In short, come to terms with working on a business and not in it.

2. Determine what you’d like to do
The next step would be to determine the industry you will like to plunge into. And as you determine that, specify the niche you want to go into. While making this decision, make sure that you are considering the skill set you already possess. Also make sure it is something that you love doing – or as close to it as possible.

Employee to becoming an entrepreneur , niche
For instance, when I finally took that decision to quit the 9-5 life and become an entrepreneur, I decided to go into the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) line. And when I decided to start my first online business, I chose to go into the business development consultancy and personal development line. And I went further to delve into the startup niche.

First of all, I had some experience in the art of running and building successful startups. I am a skilled writer and speaker, and I love writing and coaching. So, MSC was born.

If you do not love what you are doing, you will be miserable even if you are seeing profit. This is very important, since being miserable is most likely the reason that you want to transition from being an employee to become an entrepreneur.

Next is to decide exactly what product or service you will like to deliver in your business. If you did not necessarily hate what you are doing in your current job, you can offer the same service when you kick-start your own business. Otherwise, think of something else, maybe even come up with a unique product or service.

3. Find out if your idea will sell
Your product or service idea may fill you with joy but this is no guarantee that the idea will fly in the market. You first have to find out if it addresses a problem that people need a solution to.

Talk to people who are ideal potential customers to find out their wants and needs and how your product or service will help meet these needs. Doing this at this stage will ensure that you will create something that they will be willing to buy.

While at it, you should also ask them how much they would be willing to pay for your product or service. This will help you decide if you have a viable business opportunity on your hands.

4. Draw up a business plan

The next logical step is to come up with a business plan for your intended business. Starting your own business without a plan is akin to groping around in a dark room. You will bump into tables and chairs and hurt yourself in the process.

A business plan serves as a guide to every subsequent decision you will make in your business. It is your action plan as it details how you want your business to function. This is the point where you get to choose your business name, define your vision and objectives, specify who your target market is, draw up a failure-proof marketing strategy, define what your products and service will be, etc.

You do not need to draw up some bulky 40-page document or to make it super formal. It just needs to cover all the essentials that your business needs to kick off such as business structure, operating costs, delivery systems and expansion plans.

5. Save up

It is more difficult for startups to get funding from venture capitalists or loan from banks than it is for already established businesses. The best and safest route for you to take is stacking up your own capital. And please don’t even begin to think of taking a short term business loan. At least, not unless it is your last option.

It will be a dumb move to quit your job while you still desperately need the financial security coming from it.

DO NOT quit your job until you absolutely have to. Stay on the company books as long as is necessary so that you can build up capital to run your business until it attains stability.

6. Fine tune your product or service

Until you are ready to transition fully from being an employee to becoming an entrepreneur, your product or service is a rough draft.

Test your product or service while still working your day job. This way you are under no financial risk as you test your ideas, garner your first customers and check if your business will stand the test of time.

Your customer feedback at this point will help you determine what part of your ideas to shed and what parts to improve on. You might need to do this severally until you have a final product or service that will adequately satisfies the need.

7. Assemble a team if you think you need one

Now that you know that there is a willing market out there for your business idea, you need to start thinking seriously about your startup’s future. Depending on the size and financial strength of your business and your personal experience, you may need to hire people to help with marketing, finance, manufacturing and customer service.

Remember, at this point it would not be much of a financial burden since you are still working your day job.

8. Secure external financing if necessary

Are your business aspirations larger than your businesses’ current financial strength can handle?

Now would be the time to seek for investors and raise capital for your business.

But I should note here that seeking help from venture capitalists or other outside source must be done only if it is absolutely necessary. If you do not absolutely need it, DO NOT ask for it.

On a brighter note, your startup has built up some traction and so stands a better chance of obtaining funding. This is because the investors will see their contribution as more of an investment in an already working business than a loan.

9. Scale up your business accordingly

Finally! Your time is yours and yours alone.

You have become an entrepreneur – and you are on your way to becoming a successful one!

Do not mistake this to mean that you can rest, because this is where the real work starts. Now is the time to work all the plans you have for the business and to focus on scaling it up. Of course, your plans should be flexible such that they can adapt to changing market conditions.

10. Quit your job

Your business is in a really good place right now. You can finally heave a sigh of relief and do that thing you have been planning to do since the idea of starting a business

PoliticsPanic As EFCC Runs To Court Over Jonathan’s Cousin by Abatsam111(op): 9:25pm On May 19, 2016
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday, May 19, told a Federal High Court in Lagos to dismiss a suit filed against it by a cousin of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Robert Azibaola.

Azibaola had been accused by the EFCC of collecting $40million from the former national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki. He was subsequently arrested and detained by the anti-graft.

The anti-graft agency on Tuesday, May 3, said that Roberts received the money from Dasuki in September 2014, for the supply of“tactical communication kits.”

This comes contrary to Azibaola’s claim in his suit that the EFCC is detaining him for the purpose of forcing him to implicate the former president Jonathan.

EFCC told a Federal High Court in Lagos to dismiss a suit filed against it by a cousin of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Robert Azibaola,

However, in a counter-affidavit deposed to by one of EFCC investigators, Mohammed Hassan, the anti-graft agency urged Justice Mojisola Olatoregun-Ishola of the Federal High Court in Lagos to dismiss a suit filed against it by Robert Azibaola.

The EFCC maintained that Azibaola’s detention was for the purpose of investigating an alleged fraud of $40m against him. According to the commission, letting Azibaola go would undermine its ongoing investigations.

The EFCC also claimed to have given Azibaola an administrative bail, saying he was the one who had failed to meet the conditions.

While urging the court to refuse Azibaola’s prayers, Hassan claimed that he filed the suit to frustrate investigations against him so that he could evade prosecution.

“An application for the enforcement of fundamental rights does not serve as a defence or shield from criminal investigation,”Hassan said, adding that the EFCC had perfected plans to charge Azibaola to court based on its findings.

“This suit is frivolous, time-wasting, an abuse of court processes and should be dismissed with cost,” Hassan said.

Our source recalls that Azibaola had filed a suit against the EFCC through his lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa last month.

He alleged that the EFCC had been detaining him unlawfully since March 23 when he voluntarily honoured an invitation by the anti-graft agency.

He claimed that he is being persecuted based on his blood relation with ex-President Jonathan, claiming that the EFFC continued to detain him so that he would implicate Jonathan.

Azibaola Robert is a prominent entrepreneur from the Niger Delta with large businesses in the construction and engineering sectors.
Business7 Strong Reasons You Should Start A Business In Your Twenties. by Abatsam111(op): 7:40pm On May 19, 2016
At 22 I was working as a staff in a multinational bank, and having the time of my life. Two years later, I quit my job and started my own business. And yes, I was still in my twenties.

I was a young man who had good prospects in the banking industry, but I was willing to throw all that away. Lots of my colleagues in the bank thought I was out of my mind.

I kept on hearing statements like: “It’s a big risk”. “You could fail”. “It is very demanding”. “You will never have time again”. “You might go into debt”. And my favourite: “It is not easy”.

Presently, some of them have lost their jobs due to the recent dwindling price of oil which affected a lot of businesses. Many of them are now willing to start their own businesses, as getting new jobs has not been very easy.

I am grateful that I opted for entrepreneurship when I did. Was it a very easy decision for me? Absolutely not! I just had very strong reasons which pushed me to take that leap.

If you are still in your twenties and you have a business idea, launch out now. Below are 9 strong reasons to start a business in your twenties:

You still have the much needed drive
Starting a business is easy; building it into a successful enterprise is the hard part. It requires a lot of enthusiasm and drive.

There are times when the business will demand a whole lot, or all of your time. These are times when you may be so busy that you hardly sleep for some days, and you could break down unless you take these steps. These are days when you may not have enough money, so you are forced to do a lot of things by yourself so no delegation of dutiesfor you. Your drive may be all you have to keep you going on such days.

Since you are still in your twenties, chances are that you still have a lot of that much needed drive. Maximize it by starting a business now that you are still in your twenties.

2. You don’t have a lot to lose if you fail
The first business I started folded up a few months later. I was a college student back then and the demands of school were too much for me. I couldn’t just afford to give enough attention to my new business. I was not surprised when it failed.

The business was a telecom airtime voucher selling business that I started with about $120 dollars. When it folded, I quickly shifted all my attention to my studies. I had something else going on for me, and didn’t really have a lot to lose.

3. You can afford to take the risk.
If you are still in your early twenties, there are chances that you are not responsible for anybody else except yourself. You are probably not yet married; neither do you have a kid yet. That means that no matter what happens to you, you have just yourself to worry about.

This knowledge was what gave me the courage to quit my banking job and launch my own start-upsuccessfully.

4. There is no age restriction to business success.
Young and successful
I saw a story recently about how Tucker Hughes was able to build a business and become a millionaire at 22. His outstanding success proves yet again that when it comes to being successful, age is just a number.

5. You are still easily impressionable
One of the key factors that determine how successful you will be as an entrepreneur is how much you know with respect to your business. This factor will work to your favor if you start a business in your twenties.

This is because you can easily develop new skills, and learn a lot of things pertaining to your business. Doing this means you will succeed a lot faster than most of your counter parts.
6. You probably spend too much time on the internet.
There are a lot of online businesses that you can start by the way. But even if your business is not an online business in a sense, it will definitely need an online presence, at least because your business needs e-commerce to thrive.

A lot of people within your age bracket spend most of their time on the internet. If you do, rather than cut your online presence or social media activity, channel it towards your business.

7. Getting a job will be easier if you decide to switch than if you are older.
Everybody must not be an entrepreneur. If you try your hands on starting a business and you find out that you are not cut out for entrepreneurship, then you should return to the labour market. It will be a lot easier for you to get another job if you are still below 30.

Your Turn
How old were you when you started your first business? Is there any advantage you feel you had when you were younger? Please share your experience in the comment section.

Education10 Ultimate Guidelines And Thoughts For Academic Success by Abatsam111(op): 4:02pm On Feb 26, 2016
1. Set educational goals.
Students who'll be successful are motivated by what their goals represent in terms of career aspirations and life's desires. Ask yourself these questions: What am I doing here? Is there some better place I could be? What does my presence here mean to me?Answers to these questions represent your "Hot Buttons" and are, without a doubt, the most important factors in your success as a college student. If your educational goals are truly yours, not someone else's, they will motivate a vital and positive academic attitude. If you are familiar with what these hot buttons represent and refer to them often, especially when you tire of being a student, nothing can stop you; if you aren't and don't, everything can, and will!

2. Work hard. At the end of the day, hard work pays off. You made it into University, which suggests you have the fundamental skill set required for higher education, but don’t forget to keep your eye on the ball and buckle down and get the work done! It’s easy to get swayed by social life. These things are important, but success largely rests with a student’s ability to develop and maintain a strong work ethic. Make lists, prioritize, and focus on getting the “job” of being a student done well.

3. Be a good time manager.
Always remember that time control is life control and consciously choose to be in control of your life. An elemental truth: you will either control time or be controlled by it! It's your choice: you can lead or be led, establish control or relinquish control, steer your own course or follow others. Failure to take control of their own time is probably the no. 1 study skills problem for college students. It ultimately causes many students to become non-students! Procrastinators are good excuse-makers. Don't make academics harder on yourself than it has to be. Stop procrastinating. And don't wait until tomorrow to do it!

4. Go to lectures: Lectures are there for a reason, they provide you with value-added content. It’s true that some of the content may be available on-line, or with a text-book, but in most cases, lectures will help to draw connections between different content, and/or provide a valuable context to the material that might be in the textbook or on-line.
Also make sure you go to lecture room early, being late to lectures does you no favours.

5. Ask questions.
Ask questions to provide the quickest route between ignorance and knowledge. In addition to securing knowledge you seek. There are no foolish questions, only foolish silence. It's your choice.

6. Take good notes.
Take notes that are understandable and organized, and review them often. Why put something into your notes you don't understand? Ask the questions now that are necessary to make your notes meaningful at some later time. A short review of your notes while the material is still fresh on your mind helps you learn more. The more you learn then, the less you'll have to learn later and the less time it will take because you won't have to include some deciphering time, also. The whole purpose of taking notes is to use them, and use them often. The more you use them, the more they improve.

7. Talk about what you're learning.
Get to know something well enough that you can put it into words. Talking about something, with friends or classmates, is not only good for checking whether or not you know something, its a proven learning tool. Transferring ideas into words provides the most direct path for moving knowledge from short-term to long-term memory. You really don't "know" material until you can put it into words. So, next time you study, don't do it silently. Talk about notes, problems, readings, etc. with friends, organize an oral study group, pretend you're teaching your peers. "Talk-learning" produces a whole host of memory traces that result in more learning.

8. Don't cram for exams.
Divided periods of study are more effective than cram sessions, and you need to practice it. You'll learn more, remember more, and earn a higher grade. Short, concentrated preparatory efforts are more efficient and rewarding than wasteful, inattentive, last moment marathons. Yet, so many students fail to learn this lesson and end up repeating it over and over again until it becomes a wasteful habit. Not too clever, huh?

9. Be persistent
Sometimes the going gets tough. Maybe you put down the right answers but you still get lower grades. Remember "Only those who endure it till the end will be crowned" . Do not retire but refire!

10. PUT GOD FIRST!

Two suicide bombers killed at least 19 people and injured 50 others in a market in Meme, northern Cameroon, on Friday, military sources told Reuters.

However, while AFP is reporting the identity of suicide bombers to be male, Reuters claims they were female bombers.

It was gathered that the two suicide bombers walked into the market and blew themselves up.

According to one of the officials based in northern Cameroon said, the number of dead and injured is subject to change.

However, there has so far been no official claim of responsibility for the attack, but officials pointed the finger at Nigeria-based Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram.

Boko Haram began targeting Cameroonian territory in 2013, with more than 1,200 people killed in attacks, according to the Cameroon government and military sources.

The Nigerian-based jihadist group has killed at least 17,000 people and left more than 2.6 million others homeless since their six-year campaign began.

This perhaps is why the U.S. military now calls it the most lethal violent extremist group in the world.
