Business / Selling On Ebay From Nigeria by abbeyart: 10:21am On May 22, 2010
Is there a way to set up an eBay account and sell securely and genuinely from Nigeria, with our terrible postal system, erratic power supply, ridiculous internet browsing packages and untrustworthy officials?
They should be a way to sell and ship items and make a profit, there is a huge market out there!
Any ideas?
Business / Re: How many streams of income do you have? by abbeyart: 10:09am On May 22, 2010
Dear Segedo,
I would be very interested in
seeing the paintings that you do, I am interested in art work, paintings etc.I would also be very interested in your marketing technique regarding this issue. Have you got a gallery in Nigeria that stocks your paintings? do you sell them in Nigeria or abroad? My hope is to eventually open a gallery in Lagos but I am still working on my plan and finances.
I also have a gallery in Ghana that is interested in vetting new paintings so if you are interested maybe we could do something together. Please get in touch.

These days having just one source of income could be disastrous. let's know if you share this view and how many streams you've got. Specify please.

At the moment i have just 2 - revenues from my paintings and dividends from stocks.

I hope to have 3 more before the year's over - from a regular job and 2 other businesses
Did he know him from anywhere? Did he know why he was being deported? Of course, anybody in such a situation, resisting deportation would try to whip up sentiment and unfortunately, Mr. omotade himself got caught up in the 'we have our rights' thing. He should have simply minded his business

.

[b]@ Folem ,who needs enemies when we have fellow Nigerian brothers like you?

This what we are talking about (we are so selfish) it was his business because we are meant to be our brothers keepers, that is how we look the other way and deportees are killed while been deported.

Becuae it seems you have your papers and the right to be in the UK does not mean that you should feel contempt for fellow Nigerians who are illegally here.
The fact still remains (as I live in the UK too) we are sometimes treated as animals because we are black and we are Africans, we need to stand up for our rights.

The pilot was scared? please give me a break.no Nigerian would do anything to endanger a plane while they are in it (Nigerian are scared of death) and by the way Nigerians generally look the other way,but it must have been that the deportee was been treated badly (as they usually are).

I will look into this story, but I am sure that the officers would exaggerate the situation, who do you think the police would believe the well respected white pilot or a bunch of black Africans in economy class

I have been in this country and I know that everyone lies, even once I decided to demand for my results in University and the woman said I was talking too loud and been aggressive to her, I said I was not, well she said she did not want to deal with me that I should come back tommorrow, when I refused she said she would call the police_I said she should go ahead that I was not aggressive, she then said who do I think the police will believe her and her colleague or me (a common black African student).

And why should he not do the right thing? do we not have rights as black Africans in the UK? do Indians, chinese etc fight for their rights ?why not us?

Well what more can I say, stop been a coconut and stand up for your own!!!!

@HR.hotness

spreading the feeling of hopelessness and dispair isn't doing us much good

Well there is nothing much else to spread around! or is there?

In any country no matter how bad of course they will people who make it! but the % that make in Nigeria is very very low, if not we will not all be struggling to get out or somany of us will not be living abroad!!!

With no job and not a kobo in your pocket how are you meant to look at the bright side ? do not fool yourself.

We are not spread hopelessness but facing reality!!! it is better painting a true picture and letting people take their chances rather than painting a false one and misleading

Politics / Re: Nigeria Is Bad - Nigeria Is Bad - What Is Bad About Nigeria Than Other Countries by abbeyart: 2:57pm On Apr 14, 2008
[b]Well what an interesting topic, I could not afford not to reply, what is good about Nigeria? (the so called giant of Africa). In this day and age, we do not need to compare with America why not? where they not colonised by the British? why do we Nigerians always like to keep our head in the sand and pretend that everything is okay?

We live in a country where there is no rule of law, the rich get away with murder , everyone has a price , policemen are scared of confronting robbers! imagine that!!! no security - a basic need! no available clean drinking water! no electricity! no sanitation! no infrastructure! crime is rife, trigger happy policemen roam the street! enough ritual killings!try and error drivers driving recklessly!molue and other vehicles pumping out black poison ,infrastructure without proper planning  collapsing!pot holes no no no not pot holes craters! no aaccessto medical care a worsening education system producing graduates that can not speak or write common proper grammar!a large size of the population living in poverty-running around the street selling a few dvds to make little change-must I say any more?

Well I must assume those that feel Nigeria is good or okay do not fall into this category? well that has always been the case-those that are okay will not see any problems with the country-Obasanjo sees nothing wrong with the country!!!!

You can not even travel back home from abroad , robbers lay ambush and trail you home, you can not drink a bottle of coke etc without checking that the bottles has not been opened (fear of been poisoned),friends will set you up,family will set you up,it is everyone for themselves, there is no loyalty.

Tribal hatred is rife, customs is upset with you, they will ask :na only you travel before?-always trying  to rip you off!

You have a 101% chance of getting away with crime in Nigeria that is why people are always committing crime because -the police never ininvestigatehey are too busy lining their pockets!!! do we even have a Forensic lab (Ghana does) or have you heard of them taking someones fingerprint? have you been into a police station of recent ?not even an old pcPCn sight!!!!!

in Ghana you can still walk around at night (at least in Accra), when my brother went to the Canadian embassy in Ghana about six years ago , he forgot his handset in the taxi, the taxi driver brought it back to him in the hotel! imagine that.He also went out all night the streets are safe -Yes Ghana that we think are inferior to us, they have surpassed the giant of Africa!!!

The country is so filthy, rubbish everywhere, drainage system, what drainage system?yoYoungirls now offer sex everywhere-by the side of the streets,in clubs,in joints what is going on? it was not long ago that trtribalatred killed so many people the whole system is falling apart!!!!!!

A pastor was preaching once and he said that Nigeria is a cursed nation, sometimes you wonder if it is  true?

For those that are making money or live in the Island -well Nigeria must be amazing, enjoyment all day-girls,ac tight cars, drivers, maids, best clothes,ac tight homes, probably even the police and army are protecting their homes-well what do you expect people like them to say.

I am a Nigerian, but I do not have my head in the sand , I was in Nigeria in FebFebruarynce you arrive in the jungle your life is in the hands of God.

We have come to expect so little of our politicians and our country because we are used to hardly getting anything-so when we get something little we assume we are making a lot of progress.

Maybe the question should be WHAT IS SO GOOD ABOUT NIGERIA?

I pray that we move forward.Nigeria will be good , but when?? I do not know.It has taken many years to destroy the country, and it is still been destroyed.

The masterplan for Nigeria has been lost-I hope that God takes control.

ciao

Travel / 136 Nigerians Kicked Off British Airways Flight! by abbeyart: 11:15pm On Apr 13, 2008
136 Nigerians were kicked off a BA flight from London to lagos because they complained about the treatment of a fellow

Nigerian deporte!one Nigerian was even arrested and is now been charged to court (and banned from Ba For life).

We should all try and complain (if need be ,protest enen) and organise ourselves and boycott such airlines.

We should not allow BA to get away with such behaviour ( at least we should demand an apology) and also petition our embassy and goverment so they act.

Politics / Is It Right And Ethical For Our Govt To Openly Label Their Citizens As 419's? by abbeyart: 3:53pm On Apr 01, 2008
It has become common practice now for the Goverment (Nigerian ) and other citizens to continue to label their fellow Nigerians as corrupt and crooked!every country has it's bad eggs!why do most of us put other Nigerians down ? we have also helped contribute to

the hype (false hype) that Nigerians are tthe most crooked people on earth!!!

We should move away from this and focus on our good qualities, rather than the negatives.Every country has its own problems -the US -Lack of morals, gun crime etc.

Please discuss-constructive and balanced answers please.

Nairaland / General / Are They Any Art Lovers In The House? Do You Appreciate African?nigerian Art by abbeyart: 11:19pm On Mar 31, 2008
If You are a lover of art or a visual artist (Painter, sculptor, carver etc) and appreciate and purchase art work made by our artists please drop a line .
Why are black people (particularly Africans) not that interested in art work, yet we tend to have many talented and well known artists amongst us.
Our art seems to to be appreciated better outside of Africa!
