Prigozhin's body taken to medical examiner's office as Kremlin remains silent
There has been no comment from the Kremlin or the Russian Ministry of Defense.

LONDON - The bodies of those killed in the plane crash near Kuzhenkino, Russia, including Yevgeny Prigozhin and the commander of the Wagner PMC Dmitry Utkin, have been moved to the Tver Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination, ABC News has learned.

There has still been no comment from the Kremlin or the Russian Ministry of Defense on Wednesday’s crash.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has, however, spoken on Thursday morning as he addressed the BRICS summit of leaders meeting in Johannesburg remotely, but made no mention of the crash in his remarks.

Meanwhile, in St Petersburg -- Prigozhin’s home town -- dozens of people have been arriving to light candles and drop flowers at a pop-up memorial.

The jet manufacturer that Prigozhun and Utkin were reportedly on has an impeccable record and it was the first recorded crash in the history of the Embraer Legacy 600.

Elsewhere, President Zelenskyy made remarks commemorating marking Ukrainian Independence Day and handed out medals to Ukrainian solders.

The Federal Air Transport Agency said the plane was en route from Moscow to St. Petersburg when it went down near Kuzhenkino.

White House National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson said in a statement on Wednesday that officials were watching the reports of the plane crash.

"If confirmed, no one should be surprised. The disastrous war in Ukraine led to a private army marching on Moscow, and now -- it would seem -- to this," she said.

Prigozhin was the head of the private paramilitary organization Wagner Group, which played a key role in Russia's invasion of Ukraine before briefly launching an insurrection against the Russian military in June. Forces loyal to Prigozhin marched toward Moscow, before turning back after several days.

The Russian Civil Aviation Authority said seven passengers and three crew were on board the Embraer aircraft, which was en route from Moscow to St Petersburg.

Prigozhin shared his first video address since his aborted June mutiny just two days ago.

Prigozhin appeared to be in Africa in the video, and he also spoke about Russia making the continent “free”.

The video, shared on Telegram channels affiliated with the Wagner Group, was released amid the ongoing fear within Africa on the likely invasion of Niger.

Foreign AffairsIraq Switches Off Electronic Billboards After Hacker Broadcasts Porn To Baghdad by abc115(op): 5:03pm On Aug 21, 2023
Iraqi authorities have switched off electronic advertising boards in Baghdad after pornographic footage was broadcast on one of the screens.

A man has now been arrested by the police after the x-rated material was broadcast to passers-by in the capital, local media reported

The digital advertising boards were switched off on Sunday, according to Shafaq News, which said: “Iraqi security authorities decided to temporarily turn off screens displaying advertisements in public places in the capital, Baghdad, after they were subjected to electronic hacking and immoral clips were displayed in public.”

A statement from the Iraqi Interior Ministry said the adult content was aired on a screen in Uqba bin Nafeh Square, a busy thoroughfare in central Baghdad.

The statement from the ministry’s Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency, posted on Facebook, said: “The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency, after obtaining judicial approvals and through field work, auditing and monitoring of surveillance cameras, was able to arrest the accused who carried out the hacking.”

The statement went on to add that following “preliminary investigations,” the accused man suggested that “he had committed this immoral act due to financial problems with the owner of the company that owns the display screen.”

Some, but not all, of the screens are now back in operation, CNN has confirmed.

BusinessChina’s Evergrande Files For Bankruptcy by abc115(op): 6:27am On Aug 18, 2023
China’s Evergrande Group — once the country’s second-largest property developer — filed for bankruptcy in New York on Thursday.

The beleaguered firm borrowed heavily and defaulted on its debt in 2021, sparking a massive property crisis in China’s economy, which continues to feel the effects.

Evergrande filed for Chapter 15 bankruptcy protection, which allows a US bankruptcy court to step in when an insolvency case involves another country. Chapter 15 bankruptcy is intended to help promote cooperation between US courts, debtors, and other countries’ courts involved in cross-border bankruptcy proceedings.

Evergrande did not immediately respond to CNN’s request for comment.

The impact of Evergrande’s default
China’s real estate sector was long seen as a vital growth engine in the world’s second-largest economy and accounted for as much as 30% of the country’s GDP. But Evergrande’s 2021 default sent shockwaves through China’s property markets, damaging homeowners and the broader financial system in the country.

AgricultureFG Announced Plans To Reach Over 60,000 Farmers With Highly Subsidized Input by abc115(op): 3:19pm On Aug 08, 2023
FG not Tinubu has announced plans to reach over 60,000 farmers with highly subsidized inputs. It will be executed under Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program. There was a flag off in Kano recently. FG will contribute 80% farmers will pay 20% from the redemption of his or her inputs. Target is smallholder farmer. I will encourage farmers to physically visit @FmardNg
to engage them. They have programs but they do not communicate.

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, has announced plans to reach over 60,000 farmers with highly subsidised inputs to boost food production in the country as part of the implementation of the Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program Phase One (ATASP-1) for the actualisation of the present administration’s resolve to attain food and nutrition security.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, who was represented by the Director, Projects Coordination Unit Department (PCU), Mr. Bukar Musa, explained that ATASP-1 would also help to attract private sector investment, reduce post-harvest losses, as well as add value to local agriculture produce. He said the ministry via the National Agricultural Growth Scheme and Agropocket (NAGS-AP) has commenced the distribution of subsidized farm inputs to smallholder farmers across the North Western States.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony of NAGS-AP in Kano State, Umakhihe said that the event was very important for the ministry as it would help to boost agricultural production and guarantee access to quality agricultural inputs such as fertilizer, seeds, pesticides whose distribution.

He noted that the federal government is committed to paying 80 per cent of the total cost of the input package while each participating farmer is expected to pay the 20 per cent balance for the redemption of his/her inputs at the redemption centre.

Umakhihe added that “in order to increase the level of transparency, accountability and efficiency in the input delivery process, the federal government this year approved the introduction and use of ICT platform for delivery of the inputs to farmers, making this year’s program a very notable one.”

He revealed that farmers had been interfaced with and helpline staff who will man the platform had also been sufficiently trained and supervisors of the inputs delivery activities at the redemption centers had also been appointed and engaged.
