Jobs/Vacancies › Career Passion Can Be Found Anywhere by AbdulAkpan(op): 2:16am On Jul 30, 2020
For many years, we have all witnessed the rise of motivational speakers, who talk a lot about following your passion when it comes to making career decisions. According to them, everyone is supposed to find that thing they have passion for and turn it into a career.

As a result of this advice, a lot of professionals, particularly the young ones, try as much as possible to monetize stuff that they love doing – some with much success, others with little or none. But that is not the point.

It is probably good intentions that trigger this kind of career advice, but the reality is that a lot of professionals have now reasoned that for their venture or career to be successful, it has to be centered on something they have passion for.

This is wrong thinking. You want to know why? Well, first off, your work has to bring financial value to you. What if that thing you are passionate about is not sell-able? What if you feel no personal passion for any of your skills? How will you keep the lights on?

Realistically, you can decide to embark on learning a skill or set of skills that are in demand, and you can become a highly sought after professional.

The point here is, you can find passion in anything, as long as you become good and eventually great at it, to the extent where people are willing to pay you good money in exchange for your skill-set.

Also, you can find passion in anything when you are easily recognized for having that particular skill, and you can make significant impact with your skill, either for an organization or a company.

It is better to avoid that school of thought that says if you feel no passion for something, you cannot possibly pick it as a career choice!
