emeldamicheals: @ Emeriem, I totally understand u. Am not saying the advices other mothers are giving u are wrong but we all know how it is. Different mothers different hearts. Kids are not easy but mom's love for their kids is anoda ball game. Personally, I am the type that cannot leave my children 4 that long even for one million dollars. My heart will never be at rest cos no one can take care of my child the way I will. The last thing I want is bothering my head with 'who knows what is going on with my kids'. My husband is no go area. Leaves in d morning, comes back at night plus travels occassionally. Personally, I insisted that if I don't travel with the kids then I will cancel the trip. Thats why I am going with them and my mum. If u or any oda mum is going to elpaso btw feb and april while I am there and staying at intown suites. Maybe we can baby sit at a FEE but something cheaper than taking to day care etc. Not a GUARANTEE but DOABLE. As long as our schedules don't clash. My kids happens to like playing too much self so will have play mates and study mates. Also, if u trust leaving ur kids with someone u just met. I will personally need babysitting, the day I will give birth since I will like my mum to be with me in d labour room. Thats my contribution. Good morning peeps.... FEE? lemme just pim b4 reporter dem go report me. |

beautyx5: Hi Dear,
I quite understand you dilemma at the moment but would like you to consider a few things.
1. Your budget is 2.5M which is supposed to cover a. Hospital Fees b. accomodation c. Feeding d. Flight tickets e. Contigencies f. Some shopping perharps
Based on the above, Birthing in Houston via CS will be costing you between 7k - 10k depending on the hospital. (2.17M to 3.1M @310/dollar)
Ticket alone will me costing between 250k - 320k depending on the flight you choose
Accommodation - depending on what you can get, 900 - 1500 dollars for 1Month (279k - 465k @310/dollar)
Feeding could cost 50-100 dollars weekly
And I am all for taking your daughter with you especially if there is noone that can really care for her. Taking care of a toddler needs diligence and willingness. Please if you are not 100% guaranteed that you can leave her behind with her dad or anyone else, then dont. I have friends with experiences that are not too good. And it is not an indictment on daddy in any way.
However, valid points have been raised again about her upkeep with you. Who will take care of her during your delivery and recovery?
My point is, based on the above, Your budget may not be able to cover the cost for houston.
I was going to suggest elpaso, but you will also be cutting it really close and travelling abroad requires you to have some form of contingencies even if we trust God and have faith that all works out well. Please, you may need to get an extra say 1M to help boost what you have or wait this one out considering how far gone it seems you are. There are other payments for birth certs, visas, passports and all that are not even included in the budget yet.
Another option would be to get PTA @the official rate. But you are entitled to only 4k. So you may still need to buy black market.
I may be wrong though and you actually have this all properly worked out and figured out which I am hoping is the case. But I thought I should just raise my concerns.
Cheers Beautyx5 dollar is now 318! |

Goldribbonz: Good day Lovely Ladies, Am a newbie and dis is my first post here. Am due in August and intend to apply for Visa this month as I understand fully well d steps I need to take from what I have learnt here so far. I have read and assimilated most posts from Parts 1 to 3. I plan to travel to Maryland cos I have family there but seems all hospital there is top notch expensive expect for one which Robert26(pls pm me if u read this) said it's in Virginia tho like more than 1hr drive to get to the hospital. Want to open discussions with them now cos i need their bills and correspondence for my interview. My question is how do I get a Dr n Pead willing to use d same hospital. I also would appreciate suggestion on other hospitals more affordable. Goldribbonz, u claimed to have read and assimilate part 1-3 yet u came back asking how to get Dr's correspondence! I was in ur shoe last 2weeks; I pm some pple, only one person replied(not mentioning), some were sarcastic and some did not reply. I wouldn't use it against them. Most pple here are pregnant and nursing moms. Well I'm proud to tell u that after the secret bashing I got from pple, I was able to DIM(do it mysef)so i'll advice u to PLS read and assimilate well like u re going for an exam o....besides, all work and no play makes jack a dull boy. So my dear Goldribbonz don't take it personal cos we mite just be neighbours |

TheLeakyTribe: You can get a refund but there's no guarantee as to the amount of time it'll take to process it. They rarely hand out cash. That said, did you use the doctor's letter at the embassy for your interview? Thank you but no, I already got my visa before contacting the doctor but paid him upfront with FormA. |

I paid him a non refundable fee for letter but I read in the Ts&Cs that if u add additional fees(eg physicians fees) u'll get back your money 100%. I just want to know if this will not be a problem. I want to change my doctor when I get there(found a good and cheaper one) thanks |

Onlineise: Thanks fam...tbh right now we gonna pray for the best and prepare for anything. In as much as its not a do or die tihingy i am prepared to do all in my humanly power to make this possible for the LO without breaking any law. The worst that will happen at POE is "Go back home" and as for the finances God gat it covered. Like i mentioned earlier all this started because we felt been upfront n honest would mean something. I know couples that did dropbox that got thiers with no story and even at POE went in without declaring. To these couples now we look like mumus cause they frantically warned us not to pick interview.
Anyhoo, at POE we gonna stick to the truth and leave the decision in thier hands, once again whats the worst that will happen? If i become a "Dangote" tomorrow will they not all line up offering one investment route to citizenship or the other.
I dey go church this thing dun dey pain me again.
Cheers May God's favour await you at the POE, it's your desire and u shall have it by HIS grace. I admire your courage |

AmatuRahman: All praises be to almighty Allah. Me and my princess are back in Nigeria. I paid 324 dollar to add baby's ticket on BA. I enjoyed my flight with them. My three bags all weighed like 28kg and they accepted all the bags like that and even checked in my hand luggage.
I used dr Amajoh of methodist hospital and she is a very good and humble doctor . I enjoyed her service with that of all the nurses that attended while I was in the hospital. Thank you methodist for all my freebies. My bill :
Hospital fee: 2500 Doctor's fee 2300(test inclusive) Paediatrician: 200( 2days ) One day visit to paediatrician after leaving hospital :90(70 doc's fee and 20 new born screening) Pathology :89.96(after 50% discount)
Paid 120 dollar for baby monitoring when the doctor complained that my water level was low.
I stayed with soul care and I really enjoyed my stay with the concierge. She is a very wonderful woman.
My roomie of life, all is already well by God's grace. Thank you for making my stay an homely one. To all the new friends I made while I was there you all are very wonderful especially favoredgal.
Thank God for this wonderful opportunity.
To all the people of this beautiful thread thank you for al your posts. Alhamdulillahi Robilahamin...mon sha Allah. Congrats on the birth of ur baby |

chicagobound: To accommodation, please shine your eyes well especially for the seemingly not-so-expensive accommodation that eventually allows you spend more on transportation.....I stayed at a shared apartment with my bathroom n toilet, only shared kitchen and living room, the distance to the clinic was 28-32 mins depending on traffic(in houston, that was far!) I ended up spending the savings I got on accommodation on transportation and even more!
Please take accommodation really close to the clinic like about 10-15mins. I met and kept contacts of some wonderful mothers turned sisters at the clinic who stayed in places like 10-15mins, and really made sense with pickup services(if required)
I don't know if it's fine to put up contacts here, before Justwise raptures my post.
Makes plenty sense, got to know about an accommodation that cost same amount as where I stayed but had so much more attached to the room, free Baby bassinet and carseat, free calls to all US numbers, free pick up and drop-off to clinic up to postnatal, close to my clinic. Everything beautiful, only thing was that she didn't know about NL and all the ladies that use her concierge didn't know too. I already told her about our dear forum and she'll do her advert here so pple can get her contact. I literally cried when I saw her place when I was almost coming back home. Mtchewwwwww. @chicagobound, pls can I have the name of the place and if possible the lady's info. God bless |
