damidamsel: @Petdaughter....thanx 4 d info above, info is key. Read this and tried it out, however i keep having this issue of their POS reading my card as a credit card instead of a debit card thus not been accepted. Tried it at 2 diff Walmart POS terminals and gives d same prob but it works as a debit card at the ATM. Called Stanbic twice and was told everything seems fine at their end. Figured i cld withdraw 150 from atm n do 350 money order giving me 500 per day all in one day if only it worked. Did u encounter this challenge by any chance?
Has anyone experienced this too? Kindly advise Try Albertons it worked for me |

happytbaby: Let me answer Comfortina.
I think she really asked an honest question, I do not detect any sarcasm in her post. Life is a matter of perspectives.
Now to put things in perspective, let me start by saying my Maternal grandmother had 6 girls. One of them died from childbirth complications, the baby also died. One is 60 with no child and had two still births and one infant death, that makes 3 pregnancies. Another one is in her mid forties, she had twins which died after the hospital she registered in said they couldn't do CS. She herself is a twin. Her twin sister had two still births before a live one. 5days after the lifebirth, we realised she was incontinent. We took her to a specialist who had to perform another surgery to repair her bladder which had mistakenly been cut during the CS. It was my brother and I (teenagers) that were taking care of the new born while my Mum stayed with her in the hospital. She suffered mehn! Till date, she hasn't been able to carry another pregnancy to term.
Please can anybody help me count the number of dead children in my family and tell me the probability of such a high mortality rate if all 6 of my grandmother's girls lived in America?
About taxes, it's the children's choice, if they choose to settle in America they will pay their tax there. On double taxation, if you pay 20 percent here and 30 percent is your tax band in the US, it does not mean that you will pay 50 percent of your income as tax, there is a way it's calculated depending on the tax regime of the countries concerned. I will not be able to go into a lengthy explanation of that.
On the education, am wondering if you attended any of these federal universities you are talking about? My brother is attending a university abroad and when I help him look at his assignments I see that the difference between education here and there is like the distance between heaven and earth. Seriously, you get what you pay for.
Is it the sexual harassment you want to talk about or the countles strikes? Missing results or gross inefficiency?
Point of correction, grants are not paid back, it's student loans that have to be repaid and education in US is much cheaper for a citizen than an international student. Our problem is systemic.
My next question to you Comfortina: with all due respect, have you been to America? Because as you are asking for the benefits of being the citizen of a country where the system works.....Even to shop is easy, I wonder how many times I need to pick something from the market after work and my first headache would be 'where will I park?' Then 'how will I lug my little one in the market?' You can tell me there are malls but none of them is on my way. To go to common Yaba for bedspread or curtain sef na headache because of all the guys that will pull your arms asking you to patronize them.
Please, if we can afford it we shall give our kids the opportunity of having a choice of where they want to live. If I had one I am not sure I will be here. Just that I cannot live in obodo oyinbo as an illegal immigrant. However, first and foremost for me is the healthcare, I cannot come and allow one useless hospital give the people chasing my life negative home support with poor resources and negligent nurses that insult patients. Happytbaby, I love you u know! |

Toronto123: Out of curiosity, i decided to read this thread and I must say you ladies are one of the bravest i have met. Going to the USA alone, some renting apartments alone, and doing all possible to secure a better future for your children. Kudos! Kudos!!! to you all. I am a huge fan.
I sent this link to my friend who i tried my possible best to bring to Canada to have her baby, she thought the hassle was too much (despite all the assistance we offered). I told her to read the comment of brave young women.
Again Kudos to you all!!! Thanks dear, we gotta do wot we gotta do to make the world a better place for our LOs but not all birds FLY. Get it? |

Hello mamas n papas ,mommas2bes , wiffy2bes ,monitoring spirits . My full blast xperience from lagos to dallas goes thus: I av overstressed myself that day b4 my travel time so after packing and all set to go, I started vomiting and shivering around 8:30pm(flight was still 11:55pm), my cuz said ah dis is bad o not a good sign et Al but I was determined anyway to forge ahead. My hubby was so worried and he has to force me to see my doctor. He told him I was good to go that it's stress havin drove earlier the day for hours, ffwd to the airport immigration didn't check my bags so I just checked in my luggages, one stupid lady was @d check in all frown and rude to my hubby just because he wanted to help me check the bags in( she regretted it though cos I gave her HOT ) another lady @ d counter(her superior I guess) just attended to us all thru no fit to fly was asked for even though I looked so tired and big. All dis was going to 11pm so at last I felt I should eat something b4 going on board, we got to kilimanjaro but they've closed so we walked out back to arrivals anyways after eating, was wheeled to my flight(hubby couldn't stop laffing @me) the hostesses were nice I was given preferential treatment maybe cos I was the only preggy on board. 6hours later we were at Paris, an hour later, I connected to Delta, there was one winch hostess among them she wasn't nice @all but me sef no get her time 9hrs later we were at ATL, my heart kept skipping but I continued praying and hoping for the best. The POE was a breeze! I spent 2mins infront of the CBD officer, str8 to agric my ponmo, knorr was seized. Checked my bags in to connect my nxt flight. One nice and beautiful aged woman helped me carry my baggage and baby to T3, asked if I need anything else but I told her I'm alright. I checked in to my next flight nd I booked wheelchair again cos I was tired, while waiting,I used the airport WiFi to call my hubby and chat with my sisters. Ffwd to Dallas wheelchair waiting for me and was wheeled to baggage claim. Alas! My bags has bn forced open , I jejeli carried them and went to take cab to my destination. On gettn home, so many things were taken eg 10 attachments,4 bonny weave on, palm oil, coconut oil, 3 Ola Ola poundo yam, fried meat etc that person must be a real thief. Anyways all that matters is that I got here safely with no wahala. Starting my appointment next week already started shopping cuz Burlington is doing clearance sales. I thank everyone that took their time out to share their xprience. God bless u and I'm hoping and praying to come back to share my delivery story. Let me use this opportunity to pray for those searching for the fruit of the womb, May the Almighty bless you with good seeds that will blossom into very good fruits and to us mothers, May God preserve our children and make us reap the fruits in good health. God bless Nigeria, God bless America. Ciao ciao |

@Modath, I still can't remember quoting you I only quoted @nomanicole for throwing such shades @ someone. Almost her retarded. Even a sec. Schl student will know the meaning of DORMANT. That word isn't only used in the banking sector, it's a general English word. |

nomanicole: Modath, only bankers and some non bankers would really understand that term. lol, Maybe she thinks you are yabbing their accounts not knowing u meant accounts that have not being operated by their owners for a long time and need reactivation before use. Not a nice thing to say though |

LadyGuinivere: Extremely! I have to point out strongly as a former banker, that man was a 100 percent professional. I wish my branch head was half as patient self. While I was there one fair woman told him her problem just like we did and he asks her to sit that he had heard. She kept on trailing after him and he rolled his eyes and sighed at her. Even I was exasperated. I believe simply there was a break in communication be Enizo and the guy or the man was simply in an off mood at that tym. Its allowed abeg . we're all humans. Tribalism ke? Mbok let's not be creating issues in this country where none exists. Am not Yoruba. The man Femi is clearly Yoruba soooo I no just sabi ... God bless u ladyG! |
