There is a difference between a battle and a war.

Igbos were never winning the war and it was the Govt who were actually underrating them until the shock of Benin (where they almost reached Lagos). thats when FGN got tough and alos tried to cross the River Niger (they'd previously avoided that theatre cos of the losses/sacrifices they'd need to make in men and equipment to cross.

That is one of the reasons why FCT is now in Abuja.

Also a lot of people are lied to about the war... firstly the government took over the now south south region in quick time proving firstly that SS no send SE and their Biafra (this is something i keep telling my igbo friends here in Lagos --- we (ss) will fight against ya'll when e set).

Without access to the sea the Igbos were stifled of food, water, income (Oil sale) and ammunitions as well as contact with the outside world (NO TWITTER THAT TIME).
