PoliticsRe: Shoprite Opens In Ibadan by Abimbade: 7:37am On Jun 29, 2013
CyberG: What can of worms? Do you expect Ibadan, a developed city-state way back in the 1800's to be compared with Enugu or anywhere in Ibadan just discovered in the 1900's? I live in a city in the West in which they started building it 500 years ago (you will not believe it except you see it!) Here, there are big new buildings but there are buildings so old, they do not have any central ventilation system, why? Some of them were constructed in the 1920s and I am talking about a 4-Floor building! Now, anyone who compares the older buildings here with the newer ones built in the 1980's and after MUST be insane! Are you insane? If not, you would understand what those brown roofs in Ibadan mean!

Secondly, do you know that the city passed a law NOT to demolish the old buildings? You know the solution they found? Well, architects now redesigned the houses and rebuilt them on the inside without destroying the old-outside architecture in order to PRESERVE THE HISTORY of the people! Now, will you compare that to a new condo development built in 2013? Use your brain except you've never left Nigeria in your life you will have no clue! Think - don't you know the shiny buildings of today will be old relics in another 100 years? Well, that was how developed city-states like Ibadan were a hundred years ago before iboland or anything called ibos existed! And FYI, do not compare the entire iboland to Oyo State for the size of that one state is just about that of the entire iboland like someone pointed out!

You see your ignorance is appalling! So you travelled through Ibadan and it means you've seen the entire state! I bet you have never seen all of Enugu after years of living there but that single State is bigger than anything you can imagine! Have you been to Oluyole, Bodija, Ashi, Bashorun, Jericho, UI, etc to see development that Enugu only started trying to copy in the last few years? Those places have been built with grade A tarred roads since before I was born! Don't be stoopi.d!
WOW i love this im born and bred in ibadan and it amaze me wen some pple type nonsense abt the language and roofs and all manner of irrelevances here on nairaland. Thanks for opening their blind eyes.

ketoprofen: laugh wan kill me die

1) and who the hell is asking everybody where they are from? starting with me, am from Enugu state. Am sure u dont want to compare Ibadan to Enugu, the capital or have u got that liver? nonsense.

2) @ CyberG, What are u talking about Adenuga and Dangote? U sure know how to talk wetin u no fit defend.how many Nigerian shopping plazas in Lagos and especially Abuja are not owned by igbos? Abeokuta peeps on this thread has yabbed Ibadan too, so leave igbos out of this. Imagine your own ppl fighting which is beta btw ABK and Ibadan and to think d two wack places are even the most popular of yoruba regions is making me smh. Enugu get shoprite, anambra and abia are stl building theirs , who exactly is envious of ibadan shoprite, and let me tell u, the idea of a foreign shop is not even good for the nigerian economy, so bone that envy talk. Nonsense

3) even with the shoprite, insteading of using their car horns, ibadan men will keep using their mouths to shout at any body/car driver that is obstructing their path on the road.
most of your type dey sell cloth for dugbe and gate stoopid eediot. find somefin better 2 do ibadan is one of the hub of civilization in nigeria first university etal....stmf

HealthRe: Why Is Smoking So Hard To Quit? by Abimbade: 4:11pm On Jul 09, 2012
harakiri: Wow,

And i was beginning to think that Guinness probably owes me a title for chain smoking.Seems there are others who have it worse than me.I've been smoking since i was 18 years old and i'll be 30 in march 2010 (that sucks. . .12 freaking years).I've tried quitting more than a few times and the longest was for 18 months (2005/2006).It has gotten to a point where i smoke at least two packets of Benson each day. . .if i'm drinking, it could be more.Alcohol doesn't even do much for me anymore. It has gotten to a point where if left alone, i can consume a bottle of red or black label on my own.Sometimes, it's not even enough and i have to drive out to the mart to get a bottle of Elliot to "continue" from where i stopped.Beer and stout are child's game compared to what i drink now although i have kept off alcohol for some weeks now (after i started slowing down since middle of last year) and I've slowed down from the cigarettes.I've smoked 12 this morning, took some hours break (which is strange) and as i'm typing this, i haven't smoked for three hours and i feel weird.Normally, i should have typed a long "MEMO" by now but my brain is so "slow".Can't even see straight not to talk of typing fast.Need to go get a pack. . .brb
this is something... nnkan leleyioooooo
EducationRe: Flogging Children In School And At Home: Good Or Bad? Whats Your Take? by Abimbade: 10:23am On Jul 09, 2012
superior1: Myself and Layi were good friends in my secondary school days, we committed all kind of atrocities together including eloping to watch films like Mard (if you remember that Indian film) when others were in class. On the day bubble burst on our film watching escapade, my papa beat the living day light out of me while papa Layi gave him a good verbal lesson.

Immediate Effect: I quit watching films during school hours and my grades improved remarkably in class (I graduated best in Olevel in my school, Layi got a new pal and continued in his film then later betting adventures.
Long time Effect: Met Layi recently somewhere in Osogbo (He repairs okada for living). As for me, i aren't doing bad atoll.

My papa's cane was the beginning of wisdom for me although when i became a young man, he started using experiences to teach me. i feel flogging children who pose indifferent to verbal warning is very OK (as far as u dont turn it to an abuse)
So many ediots hating are just bunch of failures! They can't understand why a small boy cruise double R and talk money worth more than their entire village. I pity those that are mentally lazy, who can only find solace by hating super achievers like D banj, P square, Tuface, Wizkid and other bigger boiz out there making the country proud.

Heck! What good news do we get out of naija these days? Facrook saga, bomb blast . . .kidnapping?? ?

Davido is a multi-tasking super talented kid! Though, slightly arrogant; but what do you expect a kid with unlimited supply of cash and women to do? Go figure!!!

P-square featuring Rick Ross. . ."We talking money while your are talking nonsense"

I like this boy, he reminds me of ma dayz . . .keep doing ma thingz while bitter fools pick my shyyt!. cool
let them go over and do their own thing too... dropping even one song and people feeling it is not a child play... many musicians have tried this feat and they never even attain the height he attained in few years even if he now runs down that's his problem he is once a super star, and he is a boy u never knew before,,, so whats the hassle all about get a life all u haters do your own thing too in ur field and lets see how u will fare... my 2cents well done 2 this poster...

EducationRe: Jonathan: 60% Of Varsity Dons Without Ph.D by Abimbade: 3:45pm On May 26, 2012
Miss EZ: GEJ is so beating up the wrong horse. So what has his PhD. done for him? The quality of an educator is not limited alone to the degree he possesses, If he is passionate about the subject and is keeping up with trends in the field, he will most likely make a better professor than someone who has a Ph.D and sits on the degree like he is king of the jungle.

One of the major problems in Nigeria is that we major on minor issues. Should professors have Ph.D's, Yes. But is a Ph.D the only indication of knowledge, No. I am a Ph.D student and i can tell you that most undergraduates here in the United States are taught by people like me. people who do not possess a Ph.D. Some of my professors during my masters were also Ph.D students. These people had a knowledge base that was useful to their students despite the fact that they did not yet have Ph.D's To think that someone has nothing to offer because they do not possess a certain title is ridiculous. The smartest people i know do not have Ph.D's. Rather than harp on this, GEJ should be concerned about providing the infrastructures that will allow for proper learning. IF those infrastructures are in place, the quality of staff will soon follow. My dad is a professor, and he always points out that the people who taught him in University of Ibadan still do not have Ph.D's to this day or are not professors, but yet their knowledge bases in not in doubt. This is not to say that Ph.D's should not be a requirement, but there are people with those degrees who know nothing or have nothing to offer.

THANKS MAN WE NEED PEOPLE LIKE YOU TO EDUCATE OUR PHD PRESIDENT THAT RULES LIKE A PRIMARY SIX HOLDER..... 2CENTS

GEJ if you have nothing to offer Nigerians, stop talking. Even the bible says that a fool is thought to be wise if he speaks less. Focus on curbing corruption, improving education and living standard, security and providing stable power supply and Nigeria will be a much better place to be in. Asides that, keep your committees that will not achieve anything to yourself. More action, less words

moderattor: who are we changing them with?
Most of the youth are currupt too! See what happens in SUG elections.
I think GEJ's approach to solving the problem is best.
People are stealing successfully because people don't know those who know are intimidated not to talk.
But this time GEJ is allowing everyone freedom of speech, so Arunma Oteh can point out that Hembe didn't return the N44M he collected to attend a seminar.
People now know how much aso rock spends.
If this continues,
in 10 years it will be impossible to steal a naira from the government.
YOU HAVE NO POINT MAN.... WHATS THE MEANING OF FREEDOM OF SPEECH WHEN U JUST SAY IT AND NOFIN HAPPENS AFTER ALL THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH... GEJ GOVERNMENT IS A CLUELESS GOVT... WE ARE VERY UNLUCKY IN NIGERIA TO HAVE BELIEVED HIM ... BUT NO WAHALA HE GO SOON REACH TIME TO GO OUR SEPARATE WAYS STOP TALKING ABOUT GEJ STOOOOOPID APPROACH.... MY 2CENT..... PEACE IM OUT
