In 1983, Bamanga Tukur was the Governor of the defunct Gongola State (now Adamawa & Taraba) and 30 years later, he is today the Chairman of the ruling Party, The PDP; Dr. Bello Halliru was commissioner in the Old Sokoto State (now Sokoto, Kebbi & Zamfara) and 33 years after he is today Minister of Defence; Major General David Mark(rtd) was the military governor of Niger State in 1984 and 28years later he is today the Senate President; Gov. Murtala Nyako was the governor of Niger State in 1976 and 36years later he is today the Governor of Adamawa State; Ogbonnaya Onu was governor of Abia State in 1992 and 20years after he is today the National Chairman of ANPP; Gov. David Jonah Jang was the governor of Benue State in 1985 and 27years after he is today the governor of plateau state; and Martins Elechi the Ebonyi State Governor is over 80 years old! Only in Nigeria is this possible, where the youth of today have no hope into the future! Where do we go from here? People Deceive People (PDP), 1985, IBB was the president of Nigeria and our teachers told us that Buhari was the former Head of state..Our teacher also called us "the leaders of tomorrow".. 27years later, IBB and Buhari are still contesting for Presidency..Its either our teacher lied to us about being the leaders of tomorrow..Or tomorrow is yet to come.. Who's fooling who? Some of us ran out of the country,Obasanjo went abroad chasing them, telling all nations to deport Nigerian youths. Let's stand and fight for our right cos we are the leaders of Today... Pls let all youth come to an alliance and fight for the unborn. We can't continue like this. Pass it to everyone if you believe in the NIGERIA DREAM. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH I signed it..... If you wouldn't talk Abimbs will! !!!!!!!!!!!! Off to Aso rock I must see Goodluck Jonathan. If you don't hear from me in the next 12 hours pls call |

The ASUU strike 2013 continues, but the latest update is a good one. A union official has confirmed that the postponed National Executive Council meeting–which was postponed after the sudden death of Festus Iyayi–is slated to be held on Friday. At the meeting, it is expected that the union will call off the months long strike. Dr. Lawan Abubakar, the chairman of the ASUU branch at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi told the Daily Post that the rumor is true: the union will hold the council meeting on Friday. The union leadership and President Goodluck Jonathan’s team met two weeks ago and there was optimism all around afterward. The leadership took the federal government’s offer to the union branch leaders, who then voted at each school across the country regarding whether to continue the strike or not. The clear majority voted to end the strike. That set up the NEC meeting, which was originally supposed to be held on November 13. If the union had voted to end the strike, then a meeting was planned with Jonathan the next day to finalize the move. But on November 12 the sudden death of Iyayi, a former ASUU president, shocked the union, prompting leadership to call a 7-day mourning period, and throwing into question any ending of the strike. Now the union will meet on Friday, and likely vote to end the strike. Short URL: http://www.osundefender.org/? p=132973 |
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is likely to hold its postponed National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Friday. After a wide spread rumored NEC meeting last week. ASUU is expected to decide whether or not to suspend the indefinite strike it began four months ago. It is however unclear if the NEC will still be held at the Bayero University, Kano where it was initially proposed to hold. ReporterTimes garthered that The leadership of the Union postponed the scheduled Kano NEC meeting following the demise of one its key members, Festus Iyayi, a former President, who died last Tuesday in a ghastly motor accident on his way to Kano for the postponed NEC meeting. He died along the Abuja-Lokoja highway in an accident caused by the convoy of Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada. The Union also urged the public to ignore speculations that ASUU has called off its NEC indefinitely, explaining that the Union only postponed the NEC meeting as a mark of honour and respect for the late Iyayi. An official on condition of anonymity confirmed that ASUU officials had last week Wednesday converged at the Bayero University, Kano, before news of Iyayi’s death filtered in. The Union has been on strike since July 1 over the 2009 agreement it reached with the Federal Government. All entreaties to call it off was rebuffed until President Goodluck Jonathan waded in with an offer of N1.1 trillion to be spread across the nation’s universities for a period of five years. ASUU has said it will deliberate on Federal government’s offer and take a position after its forthcoming NEC. |

PAGAN 9JA:U must be out of ur mind for saying u blame Abraham |
Ukwu_Nnu: For all of you calling Mikel names, I wonder if you really understand soccer.Gud one and God bless u for clarifying things for the haters of mikel. |
iamdsam: Yes. You're right. I saw Eyeama at ending of the match talking to him seriously, probably giving him advice. I don't seem to understand Mikel. He plays with too much pride. He always slows the pace of the Super Eagles whenever he gets hold of the ball. I won't like him to be carried along to world cup if he continues to play that sluggish football for Nigeria which he never plays for club. I also got a problem with Musa. This guy isn't a good attacker. He's very bad in the finishing. He finishes his ball anyhow. I think the coach should do away with him. When compare what Amoebi did yesterday, then you'll certainly support what am saying. I even respected Onazi more than Mikel yesterday. He played with pace going forward and running backwards immediately we lose the ball. Our defenders need to be more confident with the ball and try not to lose the ball quickly and should also try to easily fall back quickly whenever we lose the ball. Keshi needs to work on our defence seriously and the tactics of the team generally and needs to do away with some players like Musa. We don't need such players win spoils chances and opportunities to score goals in the world cup. Congratulations to team. It was a well deserved draw. We can only improve from here.If u guys dont knw wat to comment why cant u shut up. My question is dat what is enyeama complaining of? And i will fixed some point out for u guys to reasons with me. Point 1:- towards the end of the match we can all see dat the ref is just blowing nonsence in favour of the italian until mikel make a complain and moreso i think we need a player to rule d team as a captain dat can go to the ref to log complain rada than having a keeper dat we all knw dat he dont have d advantage to do dat. Point 2:- If any african is going to win the world up it depends on the ref becuz they will blow against african. I believe each and everyone of us can still remember Argentina U20 vs Nigeria U20 world cup final during the time of Mikel dat if not for the ref we would have been d one lifting the cup. So try to be wise cuz enyeama is just try to keep mikel out of his responsibility cuz he knw dat after mikel complian d ref changed blowing as a goat. |
common bro u can do beta by long updating. Make i take some cold water |
The New Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress have challenged the Federal Government to account for the $5bn which has allegedly disappeared from the Excess Crude Account. The faction of the PDP and the APC separately threw the challenge on Sunday while reacting to a disclosure by the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, who is also the Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, while declaring open the second annual retreat of the NGF in Sokoto on Saturday. Amaechi had claimed that the Excess Crude Account stood at $9bn in January but shrunk to $4bn as of today. Money accruing from the Federation Account and its sharing by the Federal Account Allocation Committee were among the topics discussed at the retreat. A statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the New PDP, Chief Chukwuemeka Eze, in Abuja on Sunday, said the disclosure by the governor was too weighty to be ignored. Eze said, “We consider this development too weighty to be swept under the carpet in view of the stature of the person making the allegation and the realities on ground. “For all intents and purposes, Amaechi is not a frivolous person and is not known for making frivolous claims. “We told Nigerians about the poor handling of our common patrimony by this administration and sadly, nobody took it seriously as of today, the unmistakable evidence is that Nigeria is broke as the Federal Government now finds it difficult to meet its obligations to states, local governments and contractors.” Eze commended the NGF chairman for bringing the matter to the open and challenged the Federal Government to tell Nigerians what it did with the money. He also challenged the anti-graft agencies to prove their relevance by unearthing the whereabouts of the money, which he described as huge. He said the call by the NGF on the NNPC to be transparent in its activities and the need to develop a National Security Framework for the country was also commendable. While alleging that the present government was running for “a price award as the most corrupt administration in the annals of governance in Nigeria,” he urged Nigerians to heed the advice of the NGF and stop being docile in the face of monumental impunity in the country. This, he said, was the only way to rescue Nigeria from the path of doom. Also, the APC criticised the President Goodluck Jonathan administration for the missing $5bn excess crude account fund. It said that when considered with other graft cases, it showed clearly that the administration swam in corruption. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, stated this in a telephone interview with one of our correspondents in Abuja on Sunday. He said, “This government is swimming in corruption. We are also making our own investigation into the missing money, which is $5bn. Even N5m is a lot of money. Now they have taken $5bn; about N800bn. That is what it will take us to have four mainland bridges. I can assure you the last has not been heard about it.” When contacted, the Special Adviser to the Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Mr. Paul Nwabuikwu, said the ministry was preparing a comprehensive statement that would be issued on Monday(toda |

Luke 18:1 And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. 2.He said, "In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. 3.And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, 'Give me justice against my adversary.' 4.For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, 'Though I neither fear God nor respect man, 5.yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.'" 6.And the Lord said, "Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 7.And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? 8.I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?" |

A Federal High Court in Kaduna has fixed January 20, 2014 for the mention of a suit seeking to determine whether or not President Goodluck Jonathan was eligible to contest the 2015 presidential election. The suit was brought before the court by a chief of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Richard Mneaga, and Shuaiba Lilli. They are, through the suit, seeking among other prayers, an order of court to disqualify Jonathan from presenting himself as the presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2015 election. They also wanted the court to order the Independent National Electoral Commission to restrain the PDP from accepting nomination of Jonathan as a presidential candidate in the 2015 election. In the suit filed on October 7, 2013, they insisted that Jonathan had completed eight years in office as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria calculated from May 29, 2007. The palintiffs are seeking “a declaration that President Jonathan is not entitled to a tenure of office as President exceeding eight years calculated from 2007, till last holder of the said office”. At the Monday proceedings Justice Evelyn Anyadike after hearing the submissions made by counsel for the plaintiffs and INEC, Tony Agaga and Hauwa Habib respectively, adjourned the case till January 20, 2014 due to the absence of the counsel for President Jonathan and PDP in court. She said she would proceed to the hearing of the case if the defendants failed to show up by the next adjourned date. Source:- http://www.punchng.com/news/2015-court-adjourns-case-against-jonathan/ |
President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday announced a cash gift of N2m each for all the players of the nation’s Under-17 team, the Golden Eaglets, who won the 2013 FIFA Under-17 World Soccer Championship on Friday in Abu Dhabi, United Emirates. The players, their handlers and key members of the Nigerian Supporters’ Club, according to the President, will also be honoured with national honours during the next award ceremony. Jonathan announced the rewards at a reception he held in honour of the players at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The President announced a N3m cash gift to the team’s Head Coach; the assistant coaches get N2.5m each; the team doctor, physiotherapist and team secretary get N500,000 each while the team technical officer, team coordinator, medical officers and the curator will get N300,000 each. Jonathan said with the gifts, he was keeping his earlier promise to the team when he charged them to go and conquer the world. Describing the cash gifts as token, the President encouraged state governments and members of the organised private sector to join the Federal Government in appreciating players, saying no amount of reward could be adequate for the young Nigerians. “The team, the handlers, the coaches and the officials including some key members of the supporters club and the Nigerian Football Federation will all be rewarded when we give national honours,” he said. The President said he was pleased to host and honour the players who he said by their outstanding performance had brought pride and honour to Nigeria and Africa. He said the players won fairly and convincingly, adding that the victory is for the whole of Africa. Source:- www.punchng.com/news/eaglets-get-n2m-each-national-honours/ |
Spanish police say they have arrested 25 people in a sex- trafficking ring that brought women from Nigeria to work as prostitutes. The women, allegedly lured with the promise of good jobs in Europe, were first flown to Mexico or Brazil, travelling on false identity documents. From there, they were flown to Paris, then smuggled into Spain to work in the sex trade, police say. Five women who were victims of the sex ring were freed in the raids. Police found one member of the gang performing an abortion on one of the five women, reports the BBC. Arrests were made across Spain – in Madrid, Toledo, Cantabria and Palma de Mallorca. More than 100 vans concealing luxury goods were also seized. The gang used the vans to launder their profits and send them back to Lagos, police say. The vans, with dark-tinted windows and welded doors, were stocked full of beer but had luxury items hidden deeper inside. Goods worth an estimated 5m euros (£4.1m; $6.6m) were found in 94 vans seized in Madrid and another 26 in the port of Valencia, including high-end televisions and cases of alcohol. Police say the gang was formed more than 20 years ago in Nigerian universities and was also known for sending so- called Nigerian letters by email, asking recipients to send money.
