It can b done wen totally set, but might not acheive perfect smoothness like the later, UNLESS the wall is well plastered.

My waterstand (plastered same time with main hux but was not screeded at the time, about 2 months ago) was screeded 2 weeks ago along side the fence and we achieved same result.

Anyone can cheat, doesn't really matter where he/she comes from,......what I hate about Nigerian artisans is trying to make argument that defies science and conventional procedures to convince you. Hence I prefer to speak with an architect or civil engineer.

You are lucky...
Thenext:
This stealing of a thing is in a typical Nigerian man(the one close to us are artisans), everybody are looking for shortcut to live big.
That’s why I stick to my Engineer, his service charge and that of his work craft( Bricklayer, carpenter, iron bender etc) is higher than what I see on nairaland but belief me my engineer will drop your last kobo for you. He will use best practice to reduce cost. So I don’t experience all this stealing of a thing. I sleep well when am home and I concentrate on my job at office while job is ongoing at my site.
This is the second house my Engineer is building for me and his honest and trust is second to none.

You are smart!
I experienced this at one of my brother's project at Ibadan(elebu area), during the casting, the iron bender stole some 12 and 16mm rod and hide it at the edge of the nest building fence! We left there LTE that day and I was there early nest morning, I recovered all this rod and I told my uncle should get someone else for the job. Thief everywhere! undecided

by grouping the sheets into 50 each, so I’m able to keep track of those being taken from where it’s been kept and also keeping an eye on where it’s been taken to. I also took random walks around my site, checking the bushes and Uncompleted buildings around. The roofers know I’m close marking them tho the person in charge is genuine, I know him very well but still I can’t be too cautious, his coworkers are more experienced than him in the roofing game so I’m always stalking them subtly maybe they’ve noticed but who cares.
PropertiesRe: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Abolarin91(m): 1:39pm On Dec 01, 2020
Anything measurement as far as I am concern, little percentage must be added(2-5% waste), it become rip off if roofer add too much percentage and hide some in his own pocket. Quantity surveyor in the house can testify...
KIDfurniture:
All the roofers na ole including money 121 but that's his own hustle.. they must add extras. He is just an agent na he must make profits...God bless nairaland.
PropertiesRe: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Abolarin91(m): 5:20pm On Nov 30, 2020
My opinion; I won't 100% blame money121 if he didn't say anything about it(perhaps he want his name to be mention) although it his duty to clarify the game behind roofing.
Why I don't 100% blame him? Checkitout always point out the game bad suppliers play in the sand/granite business, some time go some set of people started calling him names like"na only your granite dey complete ", " your price is too high"...therefore, I will only blame money121 if his name is called out and he didn't respond.
Life no hard, na we dey make am hard with unnecessary drama undecided
rajput4real93:
No one has said money121 had issues with someone or not. What is expected of him as a big player in roofing works on nairaland is to be able to educate us and clear some misconceptions or allegations levelled against roofers. What you don't know is that silence sometimes implies approval.
We all can attest to what we have learnt from other building professionals here. If he doesn't know the technical aspect of roofing but buying and selling of roofing materials, that isn't a problem but he should say it. Thereafter, no one will direct questions to him.

lorhema:
This is a tip I'll file away.

In our first build, I got the roofer from Iyana-Ipaja. He gave me the cutting list as I requested.

Then I said we were going to a factory at Oregun to make the purchase. When we got there, I went straight to the sales desk and met the woman who was about my age. I gave her the list and now noticed that the roofer was uncomfortable.

I didn't think much of it. The woman looked at him and asked him if his measurement was correct. He said "yes".

I paid and we loaded the aluminium into a truck and returned to the site.

In the days that followed, it became clear that the aluminium was too much

I now understood that he wouldn't have bought what was stated on the cutting list but would have kept the extra cash if we had given him the money for the purchase like he expected.

I had to use the extra aluminium to make a canopy in a corner of the yard for hanging washing during the rainy season. I still have some left over in a store.

They see it as business. But I think it's all because we don't fear God. Forget about the facade of religion.

This got me thinking big time! You might be right
Badgers14:
Just to think that before endsars. Cement was sold at 2300 -2550 depending on location.

After endsars, the prices almost doubled in most places.

What economic theory is that?

Or are they trying to punish the masses for the end sars movement? ( this is a question and not a statement).

I woke up this morning to a heated exchange of comments styled with abusive, provocative and censored words by Gcardcodes and Goodfaith.
Now, it doesn't matter who started it.
Wrong adverts found themselves in mysterious places too.
To this end therefore, i have reported them to Nairaland and hopefully those comments will be extinct in seconds. Incase you're wondering who did it.

more fund to your account for your ongoing project...
MrOkenwa:
I did a roofing 3 months ago and another roof installation is ongoing today. Last week, I collected 4 different quotations and they all gave different measurements(673, 723, 759, and 820). I chose the 673sq mtr. The price of the aluminum longspan and workmanship were somehow close. one of the installers told me that it is "oja okunkun". that is, the more you look, the less you see grin.
Meanwhile, we have wonderful members here who can handle the roofing and various other works. They are very good at what they do. I engaged 3 guys here during my last build( Abolarin91, Adedward and the archi guy that hardly visit this thread). they did wonderful job for me. Mr Ade is handling the 30 windows of my present build.
