Religion / Court Summons Biodun Fatoyinbo Over Dakolo Rape Allegation by Abuharib(m): 9:35am On Sep 09, 2019
The Federal High Court in Abuja has summoned the senior pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo, over rape allegations levelled against him by Busola Dakolo, wife of singer, Timi Dakolo.

According to a court document seen by newsmen on Monday, Fatoyinbo is to appear in court within 14 days.

The cleric had in August faced questioning by the police at the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Garki Area 10, Abuja, where he was grilled by a team of detectives led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Adaku Anya, Igbere TV reports.

Busola alleged in June that Pastor Fatoyinbo raped her as a teenager in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The allegation caused a storm with protesters marching to the church in Abuja and its branch in Lagos to express their displeasure.

Force spokesman, Frank Mba, said that more pastors would be interrogated over the allegation.

Fatoyinbo had snubbed the panel set up by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) to investigate the rape allegation.

He said he was advised by his lawyers not to appear before the panel because it was prejudiced and may not conduct an impartial session.

Politics / 2023 Not For Igbo – Primate Ayodele by Abuharib(m): 12:44pm On Aug 27, 2019
Founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church in Ejigbo, Lagos, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has said that the 2023 presidency is not for the Igbo.

In a recent chat with newsmen , the cleric said that the Igbo would not stop playing second fiddle to the North Central and the South West, Igbere TV reports.

“Between themselves, it’s not for the Igbo. I’ll let you know the tribe that will come back. But the north will not relinquish power. They will still battle for it. And that is why I said democracy will beak Nigeria,” he said.

When asked again to emphasise his stance on Igbo 2023 presidency, Ayodele said: “The Igbo are wasting their time. They’ll canvass for them but they won’t get it. The North Central and South West will be a problem for Igbo.”

The preacher warned the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, to be careful else he might “crumble on the way”.

He added: “This is the word of God. It is not my word. I’m not a politician. It is only a politician that would say this is what he thinks.”

On the RevolutionNow protest, Ayodele said: “It is not yet time for revolution in Nigeria. The uprising will come in the nearest future. So it is not this man (Omoyele Sowore) that will do it. He’s just like Nnamdi Kanu fighting for IPOB. Nnamdi Kanu will not be the person to actualise it.”

He also warned Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, not to leave the APC else he would be “finished politically.”

Ayodele advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stick with Senator Dino Melaye if the party really wants to win Kogi governorship election in November.

Politics / FG Warns US Against Stereotyping Nigerians Over New Fraud List by Abuharib(m): 4:54pm On Aug 23, 2019
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has warned the United States against the stereotyping of all Nigerians after a list of 77 Nigerians involved in fraud was released.

A statement on Friday by the chairman/CEO of NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said the actions of a few Nigerians involved in criminal activities are not a representation of the majority.

Days after the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) charged the founder of Invictus Group, Obinwanne Okeke, over conspiracy to commit fraud of about $11 million, a 252-count federal grand jury indictment unsealed Thursday charged 77 Nigerians for fraud-related offences.

They are accused of participating in a massive conspiracy to steal millions of dollars through a variety of fraud schemes and launder the funds through a Los Angeles-based money laundering network.

Mrs Dabiri-Erewa said an accusation does not necessarily mean guilt and that she expects that all the suspects would be given fair and speedy trial.

The statement, however, said that those accused should turn themselves in to the American authorities to clear their names.

The commission said failure to do so could result in the Nigerian government extraditing them if relevant international treaties between both governments are invoked.

Crime / Nigerians React To Killing Of Unarmed Suspects By SARS Operatives by Abuharib(m): 9:46am On Aug 21, 2019
Nigerians have reacted with outrage as suspected operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) recently killed two suspected phone thieves in Igando, Lagos.

A video of the incident went viral on Tuesday showing two suspects handcuffed to each other as an officer approaches with a third suspect, Igbere TV reports.

The man recording the video says: “You go collect, you go collect”, and immediately there is a gunshot.

The third suspect is seen in a yellow minibus also in handcuffs.

Then the suspects are ordered out of the bus.

A policeman in the vehicle pushes one of the suspects to an officer waiting to shoot.

“Leave am make I kill am,” one of the policemen says.

“Kunle, commot there make dem kill the idiot,” another officer says as two shots are fired.

A policeman then says: “God punish you! We no dey waste time.”

The man who recorded the video explained that the suspects carried out their operation on an online sales platform called Jiji.

He said they lured their victims by promising to buy advertised phones at good prices. Afterwards, they collect the phones at gunpoint.

Nigerians, apparently displeased with the trend of extra-judicial killings by security operatives, have revived the call for the scrapping of SARS.

Politics / Court Restrains ICPC, AGF From Confiscating Yari’s Assets by Abuharib(m): 3:34pm On Aug 19, 2019
The Federal High Court in Abuja has restrained the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) from confiscating assets and property of the immediate-past governor of Zamfara, Abdul’aziz Yari, Igbere TV reports.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo gave the ruling on Monday.

Yari’s counsel, Mahmud Magaji, had filed an ex-parte application for interim injunctions to restrain the ICPC and AGF from interfering with Yari’s enjoyment of the rights enshrined in Sections 34, 35, 37, 41 and 43 of the Constitution.

Justice Taiwo also ordered parties in the case to maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.

Taiwo said the orders made are to subsist pending the determination of the fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by Yari.

The court had last Friday granted ICPC’s request to freeze Yari’s accounts in Polaris and Zenith banks.

The judge, however, said that the orders made on Monday did not affect the earlier one relating to only accounts in the two banks.

ICPC alleged that Yari and the companies received various funds belonging to the Zamfara State Government through their accounts with two commercial banks.

The funds in the various accounts, the commission said, remained only N24,289,910 and $669,248 as of the time of filing the applications.

Politics / President Buhari Orders Military Against Bandits: Don't Spare Them, Pursue Them by Abuharib(m): 3:01pm On Aug 17, 2019
Don’t spare bandits in your mission to restore peace, Buhari orders military

President Muhammadu Buhari has charged the military to be more spontaneous in restoring peace to the country, particularly states troubled by bandits.

He gave the order in Katsina on Saturday while ordering them “not to spare bandits’’.

A statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu released in Abuja on Saturday, said the order had become necessary in view of the fact that the bandits had been killing, maiming and extorting innocent citizens.

Shehu said the president was addressing 15 officers and 160 soldiers of the 17th Army Brigade and Nigerian Air Force 213 Operational Base in Katsina, under the “Operation Hadarin Daji’’, at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport, Katsina.

The statement quoted President Buhari as saying: “This group was formed by the military to secure the geo-political zone from the activities of bandits. Fundamentally, it is your responsibility to secure the country.

“As the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, I believe you are capable of doing it.

“I don’t think you should spare any bandit. Identify and eliminate them. Pursue them anywhere you can find them and eliminate them.

“Nigeria deserves peace. The rainy season is good and we are already achieving food security, but we need peace.

“The money saved from food importation will be used to purchase arms for operations.”

President, accompanied by Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina, assured the troops that the Federal Government would provide all the necessary support for restoration of peace in the country.

“We will give you all the right equipment so that you can deal with them with despatch.

”I appreciate all your efforts but you can do more. I don’t want any bandit spared,’’ he added.

Buhari had also said that the government and all officials were being sustained in office by the ordinary people, and they owed the people a duty to protect their lives and property.

“Please give my regards to your families. The earlier you finish with the bandits, the earlier you will return and stay with your families,’’ he said.

Politics / FG Tried To Kill El-zakzaky In India – IMN by Abuharib(m): 6:28pm On Aug 16, 2019
The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has said that the Federal Government attempted to kill its leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, while in India through its stringent security arrangement.

The group said this in a statement on Friday on the return of El-Zakzaky to Nigeria after his botched trip to India for medical treatment, Igbere TV reports.

“The interference of the government raised suspicion that it was planning to kill the Sheikh in India using its international connections,” the statement said.

“He insisted that if he would not be allowed to see the doctors that brought him to India he would rather come back to Nigeria and seek another destination for his treatment.

“This became clear because of the government’s stance insisting on other doctors than the ones that he was in India to meet. They finally decided to bring him back for refusing to succumb to be treated by their chosen doctors.”

The statement continued: “It is worth noting that the Kaduna high court allowed the Sheikh to go to India with the government only supervising, instead the federal government presented him to the Indian government as a dangerous suspect with an unknown ailment coming to India and demanded stringent security placed on him. There was even a report that the security agents in India subjected him to physical assault.

“It is glaringly clear that the Nigerian government had an ULTERIOR MOTIVE it was nursing using its connections in India when it violated court order and interfered with the procedures of the Sheikh’s treatment. This can also be deduced from the way the security agents whisked him away to unknown destination after arrival at Abuja International airport, without allowing him to have audience with the journalists that were waiting for his arrival.”

El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenah, returned to the country around noon on Friday and landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

They were immediately taken into custody by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The IMN condemned the act, calling on the DSS to publicly declare where El-Zakzaky is being held.

The group added that it would “continue its struggle to ensure that our leader gets the appropriate medical treatment he deserves as ordered by the Kaduna High court.”

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has denied the existence of a rift between him and the Deji of Akureland, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, Igbere TV reports.

Speaking on Thursday at the flag-off of the eight-kilometre Akure-Oda road dual carriageway in Ondo, Akeredolu said he was “not bothered by the rumour-mongers claiming that there was no love between him and the Deji of Akure.”

He added: “As a responsive and responsible administration, with the conception, berth and the impending delivery of a qualitative project like this, we are delivering a new asset, a new lifestyle, a new era of property appreciation and, of course, we are bequeathing an enduring legacy to our incoming generation.”

Akeredolu said the dual carriageway would serve as a precursor to an unending positive multiplier effect on the economy and life of the people.

Oba Aladelusi thanked the governor for the project, saying the people were happy with his administration.

“Some people are insinuating that I don’t like Governor Akeredolu. If the governor is doing all these projects in my town and I am not happy with him, God may be angry with me. All Akure indigenes are happy with him,” he said.

“The government has touched everywhere. Akure people can’t thank you enough. You didn’t mismanage Ondo State money. People now call you Governor Road, Mr Road, Arakunrin Road.”

Politics / Simon Achuba: Yahaya Bello Hasn’t Completed A Project In Four Years – Deputy by Abuharib(m): 11:10am On Aug 15, 2019
Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Simon Achuba, has accused the state governor, Yahaya Bello, of not completing any project in the state since 2016.

Achuba has been at loggerheads with Bello who is said to have withheld his deputy’s allowances amounting to N800 million, Igbere TV reports.

In an interview, Achuba said the governor never told him his offence. He, however, said Bello could be angry at him because of his insistence “that the right things be done.”

“You flag off project here today; you go to another place, you flag off again; you continue to flag off projects without anything being completed, and you get back to meet these same people. What are you going to tell them?” Achuba said of Bello.

When asked if the governor had really not completed any project in four years, he said: “Essentially, that is what it is. There is no meaningful project that has been brought to 100 percent completion …that he started that has got to 100 percent completion…. No!”

The deputy governor said as far as he was concerned he had not been suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi.

He said Bello’s government was corrupt but that he would be seen as being a hypocrite to talk about it since he was a part of the government.

Zainab said in a tweet on Wednesday that her convoy met several Fulani girls who were on traditional Sallah visits on Tuesday, Igbere TV reports.

She added that the girls had initially run away when she stopped her convoy to felicitate with them.

“Yesterday on our way back from Zuru, we met these cute Fulani girls on traditional sallah visits “yawo”. We decided to stop and give them token gifts from their mama aisha @aishambuhari. Initially most ran off, scared. Typical and Irony of a tribe labelled violent and hostile,” Zainab said.
