Hello ladyjoie. As long as the visas have expired less than 12 months ago and all other criteria are met, everyone may reapply through the interview waiver program.

ladyjoie:
Hi ,
I applied for a b1\b2 visa for my family and I in 2015 for child birth and vacation
However my husband and I decided not to go with our boys (2) considering that we were able to get a family to host for the duration we spent in the us
My toddlers didn't use their visas and they have currently expired
We all want to apply for drop box renewal and travel in December

I am wondering if we would have our applications granted

Hello ProfOjah1234. Contact customer service.

ProfOjah1234:
@AbujaNIV and LagosNIV

Please I made a mistake in scheduling an appointment page when trying to book a date for my interview. After I provided the MRV on the page, it took me to a Dropbox details. I think I might have made a mistake in the question by selecting "YES" (Do you hold a 2-years F visa). I was unable to book an appointment..

What is the solution?.. Do I need to pay another visa fee? . Can the embassy help me to rectify the problem..?. It was a silly mistake from me. Please.

Hello Believe13. If it is important to you to communicate your work history, do so at the interview.

Believe13:
Hello VO, was able to convince my husband to go on this trip with me . He has 2weeks leave now same time with mine.

My question is ,while completing my ds160 form, the section for previous work experience didn't come up .I had to do it 3 times same thing only present work status i was able to fill even when filling my daughters own,it didn't come up though she is a child(2yrs old). Just got tired and applied like that. But my husband was able to complete his.

Pls note, my interview along with my family is nextweek.
Your kind advice will be appreciated.

Thanks a lot for always attending to our question.

Hello base83. Just be truthful. You may or may not be granted the visa, but if you lie or obfuscate, you may ruin your credibility and ability to get a visa in the future.

base83:
Hi Abujaniv, I have a situation here, hubby and I were denied visa this month so I need advise on reapplying. we were invited for his best friend wedding, the bestie stays in NJ while the wedding is in Maryland. So in filling our form we stated dat we will be staying at his place, so the officer said That he wasn't convinced why we will be landing/staying in NJ then have to travel all the way to Maryland. We told him it's cos the wife's family stays there and dat we first be with the groom before going for the wedding on the weekend.
Now do we reapply booking hotel in Maryland and staying there without going to nj before the wedding or maintain our initial stance with hope the we will meet a listening officer to avoid mismatch story.
Will really appreciate opinions.

Hello Joshnerl. You have dug yourself a hole by being untruthful at the interview. If you failed to gain entry to a Nigerian school, it's not going to get any easier for you in the US.

Joshnerl:
was denied a us f1 visa on the 14th of June . The officer asked me what have been doing since I graduated from secondary school in 2013. I was so nervous so I just said I have been working from home since then . Which isn't true.. now I have applied again. I know I will be asked to defend my previous answer as I don't know how to convince the officer that I was tensed. Cause I have been applying to school in nigeria buh no admission... wah do I say please help

Hello Crownfitmee. You asked this question last month, and our answer then still stands. A person can be refused for multiple ineligibilities during the same application. So they may get the 214b refusal letter along with other forms delineating additional refusal criteria.

Crownfitmee:
There is a question bordering my mind is it possible to be denied based on 212(a)(6)(C)(i) Material Misrepresentation / Fraud Material by a consular and handed a 214b slip after an interview

Hello Adesola415. I advise him to come unto this forum and ask his own questions.

Adesola415:
Good evening everyone. A friend applied for thef1 students visa but he was denied on the 6th of this month, June. according to him, he was anxious and as a result couldn't answer the questions well even though he knew them.He was asked that "why did you choose the school". how said the fee is affordable for his sponsor, they have good infrastructures, and the climate is like that of Nigeria, which will help him to adapt easily. He said where he got it wrong is that he didn't know anything about the city, and they asked that. and that he was too nervous.what advice do you have for him?

Hello ioppong. Prospective students must overcome the presumption of immigrant intent, the same as any tourist applicant. Furthermore, they must demonstrate that they are bonafide students able to pay for their education in the US. If you are a student in Rwanda, it begs the question why you are applying for a program in the US when your current studies are not yet completed.

ioppong:

Hello guys, I am the one in question, I school in Rwanda and I made my application here since I have a valid student permit. Do you have any insight into how I can get the reasons for denial?

Hello Ejaloni123. Tell your friend to come onto this forum and ask his own questions.

Ejaloni123:
Good morning peeps, I am a newbiz on this forum and would like to ask few questions. A very good friend of mine was denied study visa to the US on no grounds. The visa officer did not even mention to him why his application was refused. The only question he was asked was that, do you have a wife? Will you be going with your children? Which year did you complete high school? he first said 2007 and quickly said 2011, due to the educational system that exist in his country (Ghana) made up of Junior high school (JHS) and Senior high school (SHS). He completed the JHS in 2007 and SHS in 2011, this created the confusion. Though he had certificate to justify but they did not ask. Guys what might be the reason for the denial and how can he tackle that in the next application.

Hello CreativeWeb. This are questions best posed to customer service.

CreativeWeb:
Hello Abujaniv, good morning.

I filled and submitted Ds160 application form on 7th June, 2017. For some reasons, I have not paid or scheduled for interview.

I tried paying yesterday, GTBank staff told me the portal is not opening.

I will go back on Tuesday or Wednesday 21st June to do it.

My questions:

1. Can a submitted Ds160 form expire after a certain period?

2. Is it a problem if the date of Ds160 submission and date of Visa payment have a big gap?

Hello Chibabe4Christ. There is no question in your post. Read the thread, read the ustraveldocs site and come back with pointed questions.

Chibabe4Christ:
Hello my great E family!!!!!!!!! am really happy to be part of you guys!

I have some concerns which I will like to share with my noble family. I applied for student visa to Canada this year Jan but was denied though they stated I can re apply, but what pained me so much was that my company wanted to sponsor it.

That's by the way, I had plans to to see a gynea for medical investigation if i have gotten my Canadian visa but since they denied me I have made up my mind to apply to USA on medical grounds.

I have also applied for a pleasure (vacation) visit last year to USA but was also denied. am confused as I don't know if I will also be denied if I applied on medical grounds.

PLEASE my great family I need your advice as in what to do and how to go about it.

We can not go into details of any specific case, and we can't re-adjudicate here on Nairaland. You and your husband are welcome to apply and explain; every application is given a fresh look. Keep in mind, credibility established, or tarnished, in previous applications will influence any future cases.

uvagho:
thx a lot Vo, really appreciate your reply .I am sorry if I am asking too many questions ,but does this still apply(Having allegiance in 2 countries) when he is rarely in Spain ...?
Travel / Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by abujaniv: 3:52pm On Jun 15, 2017
Hello uvagho. We don't discuss chances on this forum, only qualifications. One thing that we stress is ties to one's home country. Someone applying in Nigeria who is a permanent resident of another country necessarily has divided allegiances. That alone is not an ineligibility, but it is something that must be accounted for.

uvagho:
goodafternoon Vo,am glad I can get a professional input on my case.My husband, daughter and I applied for a visa in 2015 and was rejected .He is a resident of Spain and has been rejected 4 times now .He was married in Spain and that was how he got his permanent residence but later divorced her and we married in 2015 because we had a child already(no child with is previous spouse ) We have travelled to Sweden as a Family together twice and we have a baby girl that will be 1 in August .We intend to mark her birthday alongside that of her sister in California Disney land.I will like to know if we have a chance getting the visa because the last time when the pretty vo interviewing us in Abuja asked how he got his residency and he answered ,it immediately put her off.He is a business man(building materials) and I am an Assistant lecturer and legal practitioner in Nigeria .I wait anxiously in anticipation for your reply because I would not want to be rejected again and it definitely is not going to be worth it if my husband is not with us.Thanks a lot vo.

Hello fibonaci. Follow the instructions. If the instructions say to only to submit the passport, then only submit the passport. If you applied in Abuja, the case will be adjudicated in Abuja. You send the passport through DHL.

fibonaci:
Hi Abujaniv...

I've a few questions..

So after a lengthy administrative processing(221g) on a renewal application, I got an email with an invitation to dropoff my passport.

The instructuons dont say anything about submitting a 221g submission slip together with the passport.

So do I just submit the passport ONLY at the GSS Document Collection centre?? Without any other covering letter of sorts??

Also... Being that I was called in for a followup interview after the dropbox submission, the VO after informing me of the extra administrative processing on my application, handed me back my passport AND the DS-160 confirmation form that I filled, with my passport photo attached to it.. Is this normal or it was an om?ission

1) Do I submit the DS 160 which has my passport photo together with the passport.. Or just submit the passport alone with the Invitation letter for the passport dropoff??

2)Can I have someone submit the passport for me??

3)At the moment I happen to be in a state much closer to Lagos than Abuja. Is there an option to submit in Lagos instead.. (I made the renewal application from Abuja)..

Sorry for this long winded message. Its just that my application has pending for too long and I just dont want to be the cause for any more delays...

Looking forward to ur response..

Thanks alot...

Hello Dotman23. Those are the only necessary documents. It is possible the visa officer will ask how the two will support themselves and also pay school tuition when neither of them will be able to work. Evidence of that financial wherewithal --such as a bank statement, scholarship materials, etc.-- could be requested.

Dotman23:
Good morning VO, wonderful work you doing here. Please my sister intends to join her husband in the US, He has filled and sent her DS-160 to her and also sent some documents, F1, F2,his transcript in school, etc. Please what are the other needed things she needs to get before going for her interview. Thanks and God bless

To "resume" school is not the same as to "enrol" into school. Precision in language is important, something that will become rapidly apparent at any institution of higher learning in the United States.

duduafri:
Hello VO,

Thanks for your feedback.

I actually wanted to say that I will be enrolling by August 2017, this is the first time i will be entering the US on study visa.

I 'll like to know other supporting documents ( if any) to present at POE aside my I20 and Passport.

Dear VO,

I want to visit the US for vacation during Christmas with my family, wife and three children (ages one to eight). I currently have a valid B1/B2 visa but none of my family members have a visa on their passports.
Can I go with them for the interview.
Travel / Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by abujaniv: 9:24pm On Jun 14, 2017
Hello OmoBendel24. As long as your visa is still valid or has expired in less than 12 months, then you are likely eligible for the interview waiver program (dropbox). You may send in both passport(s) for IWP or you can elect to do an interview. It's your choice.

OmoBendel24:

Good afternoon dear VO sir, a quick one here please. I seem to have forgotten the way round this (scratches head). I intend applying for a renewal of my B1/B2 Visa soon. I have all my previous US visas in my expired Nigeria passport (and I have not misplaced it too).

My travels to the US and other places this past one year plus were done on a new passport (combined with the old because of the visas in it). As a result of this new passport not carrying a US Visa (CBP stamps are on it though), expired or unexpired, FOR CLARIFICATION PURPOSE, should I then just schedule an appointment and go the one-on-one interview route or am I rather qualified for the Dropbox still as I have always done before (if yes, do I send in both passports or what?) considering your above advice which seem not to have included my situation as is? Thanks....

Hello scorpio1. Family connections can weigh both positively and negatively on an applicant, but in the end, each must qualify on his/her own merits.

The person may apply again. But if nothing has changed since the recent refusal, the result will likely be the same. Perhaps time to consider a different destination.

Hello ayo23us. We don't have any special insight on why an individual failed to attend their visa appointment. We can say that hundreds of people were able to follow instructions and complete their interviews yesterday in both Abuja and Lagos.

In general, turnarounds have one of two causes. One, the person was recently refused, and in making a fresh application, they incorrectly associated their old MRV fee receipt with the new form. Two, they engaged the services of an agent who, through incompetence or malice, made mistakes on their behalf.

ayo23us:
Hello VO,

A friend of mine was at the embassy today for a visit visa. Unfortunately, the number on confirmation page of the DS-160 was dissimilar to that on the appointment page. More worrisome, he left the embassy without an interview. What do you advise please? He has to attend a conference in the US by July 9, 2017.

Thanks!

Hello BABSFREY. The interview waiver program is a courtesy extended to trusted travelers. Some IWP applicants are chosen at random to appear for an interview. For others, we may have additional questions about their past or future travel. The most recent adjudication, be it approval or denial, takes precedence.

BABSFREY:
Dear Abujaniv,

My colleague at work is eligible for the dropbox and has applied via the dropbox. He has now been asked to come for an interview. Is there a clear reason why people are so identified? Secondly, he is renewing his visa ahead of its expiry, as the visa still has more than a month validity. Will his visa be cancelled if he is denied?

Thank you

Hello superheavy. After approval, the typical turnaround is about 2-3 working days. That said, sometimes more administrative processing is needed. This is why we recommend that people apply well in advance of their planned travel.

superheavy:
hello VO,

I was given a white paper to pick up my visa after three business days and on tracking it on ceas.state.gov I see "administrative processing"...my research on that term shows it may take a long time. What do I do? Internship starts in about three weeks from nowsad
