Hello. The standard "no documents" advice still stands. On rare occasions, we will require presentation of some documents. This is sometimes done to establish family relationships, medical payments, business activities, etc. When this is needed, we will put the case on hold and allow the applicant to send in the needed documents (or copies) to us. I want to stress that these are rare cases. If it gives you peace of mind to carry an armload of documents, do so by all means. In all likelihood, they will not be examined. Proactively shoving stacks of unrequested documents at us in the interview window is not appreciated. OmoBendel24: 6 Likes |

Hello CreativeWeb. You are welcome to apply again. That said, it sounds like you and your wife were not honest about your purpose of travel at your previous interview. Credibility is paramount in the US visa process. If an applicant damages their credibility in a previous application, it can be very difficult for them to qualify for visas. @Sebastine1606, thank you for your input, but please refrain from responding to visa queries on this particular thread. Hello adegbitunji. You may apply simultaneously or separately as you wish. Children typically qualify through their parents. Embarking on international study with an infant in tow is an ambitious and expensive proposition. adegbitetunji: |

Hello Oluwatisegun. You are not very good at this. Just two months ago with this same user name, you were posting in a thread called "Moving Permanently To The US" about your "plan to travel to USA on student visa and on getting there to marry a woman." Just as easily as I found your true intention with a couple mouse clicks, I or another consular officer will see through your lies at the visa window. Save your money and abandon this plan. Some day when you are older and more established, you may want to visit my country as a true tourist. It would be a pity to have that option permanently taken from you because of a bad decision now. Hello Iamzizilicious. Probably the best course for you is to schedule an interview rather than electing the interview waiver (dropbox) option. That way you can make your birth intention clear before crossing through the port of entry, where Customs and Border Patrol will make the ultimate determination on whether you can enter the country and for how long. Even if you choose dropbox, you may still be called in for an interview. Your husband will have to appear for an interview after losing the passport and visa. Iamzizilicious: |

This means your prospective school costs more than $32,000 a year to attend. This is normal in the US. If you can't afford it, you can't go. If you present fraudulent bank statements in support of your student visa application, we will find out, and you will be effectively banned from ever traveling to the US. jopex: 2 Likes |

Hello ZigZiglar. The color of the paper doesn't matter. Once the photograph is successfully uploaded, we don't need a hard copy. On question 3, you're best off asking customer service; that said, the instructions on our website are pretty explicit. Watches are allowed. You can change the interview date one time. After that, you'll need to pay the fee again. ZigZiglar: 1 Like |

Hello Tanker01. We have addressed this issue many times before. Birth tourism is legal in the US provided the applicant is open about their intention and pays the medical expenses in full. This means that the applicant should declare any such intention they have at the Embassy/Consulate and again at the port of entry. If it happens that the applicant gets pregnant well after the initial visa interview, they will have the opportunity to make their intention, medical preparations and financial resources known at the POE. However, it will remain up to Customs and Border Patrol whether to allow that applicant into the country. Some are not, and they are put on the next flight home. This must be extremely uncomfortable for a heavily pregnant person, to spend 15-20 hours on a flight to America, several more hours being questioned, then another 15-20 hours on a plane home. This is what we want to avoid. Onto some other misconceptions: The concept of the “change of intent” letter is not valid. These e-mails are not read nor correlated with the applicant’s file. Some people who send such letters may get a form letter in response, but it is informational in nature and in no way confers permission to amend the declared purpose of travel. What matters is what you declare at the Embassy/Consulate and at the POE. After the fact e-mails do not carry any weight. Some applicants say, “I applied for only the B2 visa to declare my medical intent.” The B1/B2 visa categories are conjoined, so applying for only one does not make any difference. Other applicants say, “I appeared at the window with a big belly,” as if this alone is enough to declare their medical intent. Again, the responsibility is on the applicant to be honest about what they plan to do in the US. Other considerations: Medical care is expensive in the US, and costs can escalate dramatically if there are complications. Credibility is paramount in the US visa process. If visa officers detect any deception or obfuscation, no amount of excuses, documents or receipts will make up for the loss of credibility. Tanker01: |

Hi Elandhas. Anytime the actual travel deviates from the stated travel plan, it may invite closer scrutiny. In such cases, an honest explanation of the circumstances should suffice. Elandhas: |

Hello blueblood1. The word you are looking for is perhaps "abscond." The word "elope" means to run away to get married. Any number of family members can be eligible for visas as long as the purpose of travel makes sense and you can afford it. That said, travel and living expenses for extra family members will compound what will already be very large costs for the medical care you are planning. These plans do not necessarily raise concerns about absconding. But statements such as these made by you earlier this year: "I want to migrate to Australia but dont know if i stand a good chance." "I want to migrate to canada with my family but dont know if i stand a good chance." These indeed raise strong doubts about your true intentions. blueblood1: |

Hello Nairaland. Here is a public service announcement for those reapplying for visas, either via the interview waiver program (dropbox) or in an interview. On the application form (DS-160), there is a question that says "Have you ever been in the U.S.?" If the answer is yes, you will be prompted with another question: "Provide information on your last five U.S. visits." Often, we have applicants who only list their most recent visit. Or, they will enter information on what they planned to do, but their actual travel was different. This invites closer scrutiny, meaning we will have to call in dropbox applicants for an in-person interview. Excuses that an agent or protocol officer made the errors do not hold any weight. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Hello Sijbombom. Step-by-step instructions are found at: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ There is an extensive application form, called DS-160, with many questions about you, your family and your purpose of travel. If you did not complete this form, then your application will not go forward. Sijbombom: |

Hello Hadidi09. It sounds like you were not completely forthright about your purpose of travel. Visa officers are not obligated to ask every applicant if they are pregnant and planning on giving birth in the US. Applicants are, however, obligated to announce such intentions at the visa interview and the border. Hadidi09: |

Hello Hadidi09. We very rarely look at marriage documents. If you consider yourself to be married and present yourself as such, we too will consider you to be married. If there is a contradiction in how you and your partner/spouse present yourselves in interviews and application forms, then that will invite closer scrutiny. Hadidi09: |
