Hello. The standard "no documents" advice still stands. On rare occasions, we will require presentation of some documents. This is sometimes done to establish family relationships, medical payments, business activities, etc. When this is needed, we will put the case on hold and allow the applicant to send in the needed documents (or copies) to us. I want to stress that these are rare cases. If it gives you peace of mind to carry an armload of documents, do so by all means. In all likelihood, they will not be examined. Proactively shoving stacks of unrequested documents at us in the interview window is not appreciated.

OmoBendel24:

@AbujaNIV and @LagosNIV sirs, seems we are asking for too much, just as it is seeming semi-established that things are no longer the way they used to be and has been established here by you on documents presentation for B1/B2 "holidaying tourist" visa interview. Please once more, a clarification will suffice. Thanks sirs

Hello CreativeWeb. You are welcome to apply again. That said, it sounds like you and your wife were not honest about your purpose of travel at your previous interview. Credibility is paramount in the US visa process. If an applicant damages their credibility in a previous application, it can be very difficult for them to qualify for visas.

@Sebastine1606, thank you for your input, but please refrain from responding to visa queries on this particular thread.

CreativeWeb:
Hello Abujaniv and Lagosniv.

My wife and I applied for the US Visa in August for vacation. But we were denied. My wife was pregnant.

Now, she was put to bed this September.

My Bishop wants to send me to the US to represent the Diocese in a church conference. I'm a clergy.

I want to go alone since I will be staying just 3 weeks and my new born baby is too tender for international travel.

I will be going for interview this October. Did I apply so soon, since we were denied in August?

What if the VO asks me why I don't want to travel with my wife and baby, what should I answer?

I just wish VOs have a totally perfect way of spotting legit non-immigrants.

Thank you for the good job you are doing here.

Hello adegbitunji. You may apply simultaneously or separately as you wish. Children typically qualify through their parents. Embarking on international study with an infant in tow is an ambitious and expensive proposition.

adegbitetunji:
I intend to travel with my 1year old...when should I apply for his visa?

Should I wait for mine to be issued? Or I can apply for both at the same time...

Hello Oluwatisegun. You are not very good at this. Just two months ago with this same user name, you were posting in a thread called "Moving Permanently To The US" about your "plan to travel to USA on student visa and on getting there to marry a woman." Just as easily as I found your true intention with a couple mouse clicks, I or another consular officer will see through your lies at the visa window. Save your money and abandon this plan. Some day when you are older and more established, you may want to visit my country as a true tourist. It would be a pity to have that option permanently taken from you because of a bad decision now.

Oluwatisegun:
hello, I would like to know if i will have issuse on my age, am 20years old and been working for my company for 2years now and am being sent for a 10days training programmes for my promotion at work...
2' after booking my hotel resavation for 10days and my return ticket too, can i travel with $1000 at hand and won't have issues at the point of entry cause the $1000 looks small to me
3" my interview is next month and i seems scared cause of my younge age, have also been to 4 Africa countries....
I just need somthing truthful about my case so i can go in with full confidence and God will do the rest...

Hello Iamzizilicious. Probably the best course for you is to schedule an interview rather than electing the interview waiver (dropbox) option. That way you can make your birth intention clear before crossing through the port of entry, where Customs and Border Patrol will make the ultimate determination on whether you can enter the country and for how long. Even if you choose dropbox, you may still be called in for an interview. Your husband will have to appear for an interview after losing the passport and visa.

Iamzizilicious:
Dear VO,

My husband and I have current B1/B2 Visa that is due to expire 10th Dec 2017, Husband used his visa twice and I did use mine once for tourism without over staying at any occasion. I intend to renew via dropbox before expiration for the purpose of using it for Childbirth in December as well, Please what do you advice I renew as?

Then again Husband's passport with valid US visa is currently lost/missing, Please how does he go about renewing his visa? and what is the guaranty that he will be reissued another visa before our intended travel date in December 2017?

Earnestly looking to hear from you soonest.
Appreciate your most graciously.

This means your prospective school costs more than $32,000 a year to attend. This is normal in the US. If you can't afford it, you can't go. If you present fraudulent bank statements in support of your student visa application, we will find out, and you will be effectively banned from ever traveling to the US.

Please Nlander please, I need advice from you about this message, I receive from the school after they have send message inform me to be expecting my i20form... Just wondering because qI don't understand very what this message is trying to indicate

Hello ZigZiglar. The color of the paper doesn't matter. Once the photograph is successfully uploaded, we don't need a hard copy. On question 3, you're best off asking customer service; that said, the instructions on our website are pretty explicit. Watches are allowed. You can change the interview date one time. After that, you'll need to pay the fee again.

ZigZiglar:
Hello Abujaniv,

Thank you for your prompt response to our numerous questions, I need your response on the below questions:

1. Should the confirmation page be printed out in black & white or preferably colored?

2. Does one need to bring along a passport photograph to the interview even though a copy was successfully uploaded and appears on the confirmation page?

3. Is the Transaction reference no. given on the visa fee payment receipt same as the UID needed for booking an appointment stated on the website?

4. Are watches allowed on the day of interview?(I have heard unconfirmed reports of some specific watches not allowed)

5. Appointment date has not been booked yet, can one cancel/discard an already signed and submitted application, fill another application with the new changes and use the new confirmation number generated to book an appointment?

Dear VO.

Someone was denied entry into the USA with his wife and also banned for five years because the individual that was suppose to pick them at the airport did not answer his call as I was told. He believed the case was not fair to him and he wants a salvaging action. Please what can he do?

Can this case be revisited?

Hello jubrilar. If she is questioned at the port of entry about the change in destination, a rational explanation should suffice. You can change the interview date one time.

Travel / Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by abujaniv: 1:22pm On Sep 09, 2017
Hello Tanker01. We have addressed this issue many times before.

Birth tourism is legal in the US provided the applicant is open about their intention and pays the medical expenses in full. This means that the applicant should declare any such intention they have at the Embassy/Consulate and again at the port of entry.

If it happens that the applicant gets pregnant well after the initial visa interview, they will have the opportunity to make their intention, medical preparations and financial resources known at the POE. However, it will remain up to Customs and Border Patrol whether to allow that applicant into the country. Some are not, and they are put on the next flight home. This must be extremely uncomfortable for a heavily pregnant person, to spend 15-20 hours on a flight to America, several more hours being questioned, then another 15-20 hours on a plane home. This is what we want to avoid.

Onto some other misconceptions:
The concept of the “change of intent” letter is not valid. These e-mails are not read nor correlated with the applicant’s file. Some people who send such letters may get a form letter in response, but it is informational in nature and in no way confers permission to amend the declared purpose of travel. What matters is what you declare at the Embassy/Consulate and at the POE. After the fact e-mails do not carry any weight.

Some applicants say, “I applied for only the B2 visa to declare my medical intent.” The B1/B2 visa categories are conjoined, so applying for only one does not make any difference. Other applicants say, “I appeared at the window with a big belly,” as if this alone is enough to declare their medical intent. Again, the responsibility is on the applicant to be honest about what they plan to do in the US.

Other considerations:
Medical care is expensive in the US, and costs can escalate dramatically if there are complications.
Credibility is paramount in the US visa process. If visa officers detect any deception or obfuscation, no amount of excuses, documents or receipts will make up for the loss of credibility.

Tanker01:
Dear VO, my wife was issued a visiting visa in January 2014 January, but due to issues with my health then, she couldn't travel. By May of that same year ,she wrote asking the embassy If she can now use the visa for child birth. They responded in the affirmative. And she traveled in June. Had the baby in July and came back in August. The problem is that her visa was canceled in January 2015 when she took our first baby to the embassy, she was carrying our last baby and the VO, asked her why she applied for only one child instade of two.after her explanations the VO canceled her own visa n denied our daughter visa . Even when she explained that we sought the permission of the embassy before traveling because of change of purpose.
Since then she has been denied Visa 3times without any reason.
Please what can we do as I sincerely want to travel with my family. I have a valid visa which I have also renewed, but the truth is that I don't enjoy vacation without my family with me.

Hi Elandhas. Anytime the actual travel deviates from the stated travel plan, it may invite closer scrutiny. In such cases, an honest explanation of the circumstances should suffice.

Elandhas:
Dear VO,
I have a brother that was to attend a conference at Atlanta ,Georgia on Monday next week , he has already book his flight , he however got a mail from the conference organisers today that the conference had been cancel due to weather forecast that the hurricane will get to southern Atlanta by Tuesday next week, and that the governor of the state already declared a state of emergency ,they promise to reschedule the conference to a later date and communicate this to participate

My question now is that , I hope he won't have problem at the POE , when the decide to eventually go for the conference when it is rescheduled.

Thank you.

Hello blueblood1. The word you are looking for is perhaps "abscond." The word "elope" means to run away to get married.
Any number of family members can be eligible for visas as long as the purpose of travel makes sense and you can afford it. That said, travel and living expenses for extra family members will compound what will already be very large costs for the medical care you are planning. These plans do not necessarily raise concerns about absconding. But statements such as these made by you earlier this year:
"I want to migrate to Australia but dont know if i stand a good chance."
"I want to migrate to canada with my family but dont know if i stand a good chance."
These indeed raise strong doubts about your true intentions.

blueblood1:
Hello VO

Please I need advise. I and my wife intend to have our next baby in d U.S. we are yet to apply for visa.

My question is,should I include my other kids(2 kids) in d application? I want them to be there when the baby arrives, yet I don't want the VO to think that we want to elope ( a friend's similar experience informs my being skeptical)

Thanks

Hello Nairaland. Here is a public service announcement for those reapplying for visas, either via the interview waiver program (dropbox) or in an interview. On the application form (DS-160), there is a question that says "Have you ever been in the U.S.?" If the answer is yes, you will be prompted with another question: "Provide information on your last five U.S. visits."
Often, we have applicants who only list their most recent visit. Or, they will enter information on what they planned to do, but their actual travel was different. This invites closer scrutiny, meaning we will have to call in dropbox applicants for an in-person interview. Excuses that an agent or protocol officer made the errors do not hold any weight.

There is an extensive application form, called DS-160, with many questions about you, your family and your purpose of travel. If you did not complete this form, then your application will not go forward.

Greetings VO,
I recently applied online for a Visa. My interview date is in 2 weeks, but I am not sure if I have completed the application correctly.

I will really appreciate it if you can help understand, whether I don't really need all that, as I have all documents with me or if something is missing and I need to correct asap. Kind regards .

Hello Hadidi09. It sounds like you were not completely forthright about your purpose of travel. Visa officers are not obligated to ask every applicant if they are pregnant and planning on giving birth in the US. Applicants are, however, obligated to announce such intentions at the visa interview and the border.

Dear VO,

Hello Hadidi09. We very rarely look at marriage documents. If you consider yourself to be married and present yourself as such, we too will consider you to be married. If there is a contradiction in how you and your partner/spouse present yourselves in interviews and application forms, then that will invite closer scrutiny.

Hadidi09:
