Hope that the five months old strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU may be called off anytime from now brightens on Wednesday with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University teachers and a Federal government team led by Nyesom Wike, the Supervising Minister for Education. The MoU was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Dr MacJohn Nwaobila, on behalf of the federal government while ASUU President, Nasir Fagge Isa, signed on behalf of the Union. The event was witnessed by the Nigeria Labour Congress, President, Abdulwaheed Umar and five Vice Chancellors as well as the Executive Secretary of National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof Julius Okojie and the former Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Prof Mamohood Yakubu. The President of ASUU told journalists that the union would consult with its National Executive Council and will within one week let Nigerians know its decision on the ongoing national strike. He however said he is optimistic that the outcome of the consultation will be positive. Dr Isa said the agreement captured the main areas of the union’s demand, especially the deposit of N200 billion in a dedicated account to Central Bank of Nigeria, the non-victimisation clause among others. “All contending issues have been resolved to the satisfaction of both parties, we are partners in progress and there is no victor no vanquished as our struggle is in the interest of the country,” the Minister of Education told journalists. The minister however expressed the government appreciation to all stakeholders that contributed to the resolution of the crises. He recalled that Nigerians had expected ASUU to call off its national strike following the November 4 marathon meeting with the President. “Today, I’m very pleased to announce that all contending issues between the Federal Government and ASUU have been resolved to satisfaction of the parties. “Let me emphasize that we recognize and appreciate ASUU’s patriotic role and commitment toward ensuring that our universities are well-funded, resourced and run like their counterparts in the world, thus we are all partners in progress and there was no victor no vanquished in the struggle of this nature so as long as our goals remain noble, not accentuated by parochial interest and targeted at moving our nation forward,” the Minister concluded. ASUU members have been on strike since last July demanding full implementation of the 2009 agreement reached with the Federal Government. After a 13 hour meeting attended by President Jonathan early last month at Aso Rock presidential villa, the Union and the Federal Government agreed on terms of calling of the strike, principal among which is the provision of N200 billion intervention fund for the funding of infrastructure development in the Universities. File Photo: President Jonathan exchanging pleasantries with the ASUU leaders at the last meeting Though the Federal Government had insisted that it had deposited the N200 billion into an account at the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, ASUU had insisted on tangible evidence that the money is available before it will call off the strike. The Union also insisted that an agreement must be signed to concretise all issues agreed on at the marathon meeting with the President. Government has threatened to sack lecturers who failed to return to work last Monday. But the threat order was widely ignored by the university teachers who stuck to their demands. However, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr Doyin Okupe, on Tuesday told journalists that government has deposited the contentious N200 billion in a Special Universities Revitalization Account domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Government also backed down on its threat of mass sack of the University teachers. |
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will suspend the five months strike next week after the union signed a Memorandum of Understanding to that effect with Federal Government on Wednesday ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Fagge, who signed the agreement on behalf of the union, confirmed to journalists that the strike would be called off next week following agreement signed by both parties. Fagge said the MoU contained all the demands presented by the union. at Wednesday, December 11, 2013 ................................................... All contending issues with ASUU now resolved - Education Minister The Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike has disclosed that all contending issues between the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Federal Government have been resolved. He made the disclosure in a statement following his meeting with the leadership of the union on Wednesday. He also lauded the patriotism and strong will demonstrated by members of the union to uplift the standard of education in the country. The minister, who had earlier threaten members of the union with sack following their refusal to call off the over five months old strike in the country’s universities, stressed that ASUU want the best for the country. According to him, “I am very pleased to announce that all contending issues between ASUU and the Federal Government have been resolved to the satisfaction of the parties. Let me emphasize that we recognize and appreciate ASUU’s patriotic role and commitment towards ensuring that our Universities are well-funded, resourced and run like their counterpart in other parts of the world. Thus, we are all partners in progress and there is no victor; no vanquished in the struggle of this nature for as long as our goals remain noble, not actuated by parochial interests, and targeted at moving our nation forward”. He also assured that the Jonathan’s administration is serious about revitalizing all universities and will continue to fund them as a matter of priority. http://www.nigerianeye.com/2013/12/all-contending-issues-with-ASUU-now.html?m=1 |

CBN Governor, Lamido Sanusi Lamido By Saharareporters, New York SaharaReporters has uncovered a document in which the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) complained to President Goodluck Jonathan about the continuing refusal of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to honour its legal obligations, including failure to remit $49.8 billion to the Federation Account between 2012 and 2013. That amount represents 76% of the value of crude oil liftings during the period. The CBN complaints are contained in a letter to the President dated 25 September 2013. “Our analysis of the value of crude oil export proceeds based on the documentation received from pre-shipment inspectors shows that between January 2012 and July 2013, NNPC lifted 594,024,107 barrels of crude valued at $65,332,350,514.57,” the letter said. “Out of this amount, NNPC repatriated only $15,528,410,098.77 representing 24% of the value. This means the NNPC is yet to account for, and repatriate to the Federation Account, an amount in excess of $49.804 billion of the value of oil lifted in the same period.” Drawing attention to an attached table of analysis of the crude oil liftings and repatriations as prepared by the CBN, Governor Sanusi noted that the failure of the NNPC to repatriate the amounts constitutes not only a violation of constitutional provisions but also of both Nigeria’s foreign exchange and pre-shipment inspection of exports laws. Also drawing attention to previous occasion in which he had expressed concern about what appeared to be shortfalls in remittances to the Federation Account in spite of the strong recovery in the price of oil, Mr. Sanusi said that a point of departure ought to be to insist that the NNPC account fully for all proceeds that were diverted from its accounts with the CBN and the Federation Account. “As an indicator of how bad this situation has become, please note that in 2012 alone, the Federation Account received $28.51 billion in Petroleum Profits and related taxes but only $1013 from crude oil proceeds,” he informed Mr. Jonathan. “In the period January-July 2013, the corresponding figures are $16.65 billion and $5.39 billion, respectively. This means, Your Excellency, that in the first seven months of the year, taxes accounted for 76% of the total inflow from this sector, while NNPC crude oil proceeds accounted for only 24%.” Mr. Sanusi specifically recommended to the President to: Require NNPC to provide evidence for disposal of all proceeds of crude sales diverted from the CBN and Federation Account; Investigate crude oil lifting and swap contracts, as well as the financial transactions of counter-parties for equity, fairness and transparency; and Authorise prosecution of suspects in money-laundering transactions, including but not limited to BDCs who are unable to account for hundreds of millions of dollars. It is unclear if Mr. Jonathan has read the letter. Despite claims of fighting corruption, he does not normally take any anti-corruption action against members of his cabinet or implement any reports, and NNPC is famously supervised by Petroleum Resources Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke, one of his closest confidantes within the cabinet. * A copy of the letter hand delivered by the Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to President Goodluck Jonathan can be found on saharareporters.com * saharareporters * |

If women ruled the world there would be no wars. Just a bunch of jealous countries not talking to each other..... |
Dont shy away GIRLS take this as a reference , have some lil Faith , you will be grown enuff soon to be considered a woman enuff . |
Recently, I wrote a post on “The 11 Difference Between Dating a Boy vs a Man“. The post can have the genders swapped and most points would still apply. However, we can’t deny that there are some fundamental differences between men and women – from how we are socialized to the chemical and hormonal differences that naturally occur. Thus, I thought it appropriate to follow up with a post on the difference between dating a girl, vs a woman. Again, many points on this post would apply if you switched the genders around. A boy is attracted to girls. A man is attracted to women. Now, this has nothing to do with the actual age of a person. I’m referring to maturity, life vision and stage of life. In fact, some people regardless of their age, will never really grow up. Also, this isn’t to say that a woman won’t ever have “girlish” or immature tendencies or vice versa. This post refers to one’s maturity and most points would also apply if you switch the genders as well. If you are a boy, then expect that you will attract only girls. However, if you are a man (independent, knows your worth and value, has a strong moral compass, is considerate and an able communicator and doesn’t let insecurity dominate your psyche), then you should be dating a woman. And if you can’t spot the difference just yet, here are some pointers. 1. A girl throws tantrums. When displeased, upset or angry, she reacts just as she did as a child when she didn’t get her way with her parents. This often consists of screaming, pouting, giving the silent treatment, being passive aggressive and/or punishing. A woman still feels the emotions of being upset/displeased, but has cultivated the skill of responding versus reacting. She comes to the table as an adult, and communicates clearly what is bothering her. 2. A girl perceives herself as a princess and believes people should treat her like so. She is entitled and feels that she is owed and therefore expects more than she appreciates. A woman, has standards (what she holds herself to) not expectations (what she projects on to others). 3. A girl uses her physical beauty as her currency and basis of value. A girl may be so used to feeling validated through her looks and sexuality, that she uses this as her primary tool to get what she wants in life. A woman, knows her worth is beyond her physicality. A woman bases her value on her intelligence, her strength, her integrity, her values, her contributions, her humanity. 4. A girl banks on a man to be her financial strategy. A woman plans to be financially independent – she banks on… herself. And if she so happens to enter a relationship dynamic where it makes sense for her partner to be the primary breadwinner, it’s considered a bonus, not the expected life line. 5. A girl sees the world from a place of lack and scarcity. She competes and will even tear down another in order to secure resources or a mate. A woman helps other women. She knows that there’s plenty enough to go around and takes the high road of integrity to get what she wants. 6. A girl cannot be bothered with anything domestic and is proud of the fact that she cannot cook or clean. A woman understands that being domestic is not a duty, but understands that it is one way of taking care of herself and others. She also understands that in the event she wants to create a family, having a person in the household who can contribute domestically is important. 7. “A girl wants attention, a woman wants respect. A girl wants to be adored by many. A woman wants to be adored by one.” -anonymous 8. A girl does not respect her body. She has not yet understood that her body and heart are sacred, and that it’s important to be mindful of how she treats it and who she shares it with. “A girl cherishes handbags, diamonds and her shoe collection as her prize possessions. A woman cherishes her health, her sense of self, and her talents as her greatest assets.” – N. Mah 9. A woman takes the time to reflect on the type of human she wants to be, the example she wants to leave and the vision for her life. She has put thought into her values and what she stands for. A girl has not established her moral compass or values and consequently, is often inconsistent. “After spending time with a girl, you feel exhausted because she takes more than she gives. After spending time with a woman, you feel invigorated, because she empowers you with possibility, and a passion for life.” – N. Mah 10. A girl has a checklist that prioritizes superficial qualities above anything else. Here is an example of how this checklist may look: Hot, popular, wears skinny jeans, over 6 feet tall, rich.. This is the checklist of what a woman may look for: High integrity, intelligent, kind, good communicator, emotionally available… Now, a lot of these differences require taking the time to know someone to figure out if the apple of your eye is indeed a mature woman, or someone with an immature mindset. However, one of the quickest filters that you can notice from the beginning is this: 11. A girl plays games. A woman doesn’t. |

HATER : A person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person. Hating, the result of being a hater, is not exactly jealousy. The hater doesnt really want to be the person he or she hates, rather the hater wants to knock somelse down a notch a person who expresses intense feelings of hatred or spite, when the reason for this is perceived as unreasonable or spurious. hope u review this 4 POINT OF CORRECTION ![]() peace out , no long thing |
