PhonesWhatsapp Rises As A Force In News Media by actiondrilling(op): 6:30am On Jun 23, 2017
WhatsApp is becoming one of the prevailing ways people discover and discuss news, according to a study.

But use of the messaging app appears to vary widely between countries.

In Malaysia, more than 50% of those surveyed said they used WhatsApp for news at least once a week. But in the US, the figure was only 3%, and in the UK it was 5%.

The Digital News Report also indicates the Brexit debate has led to growing mistrust of the UK's media.
It said only 43% of respondents declared that the news could be trusted - down from 50% last year - with the BBC in particular criticised for having both a pro-EU bias and failing to expose the "distortions" of the leave campaign.
Private is popular
The research was carried out by the Reuters Institute For The Study of Journalism and covered 34 countries in Europe, the Americas and Asia, in addition to Taiwan and Hong Kong. It was sponsored by the BBC and Google among others.
A total of 71,805 people were questioned by YouGov in January and February to generate its data.
The results indicate that Facebook remains the most popular social media and messaging service for news engagement in all but two countries - Japan and South Korea - where, respectively, YouTube and Kakao Talk dominate.
But it adds that use of Facebook for news had dipped in more than half of all the territories where a year-on-year comparison was possible.
By contrast, sharing news stories and chatting about them appears to be on the rise within private instant messaging apps, and WhatsApp in particular.
According to the report, WhatsApp is now the second most popular social service for news in nine of the 36 locations, and the third most popular platform in a further five countries.
The authors provide several potential explanations for WhatsApp's rise.
Its use of end-to-end encryption means messages can only be seen by their senders and recipients, offering users protection against being monitored by the authorities.
"Some of the biggest growth we've seen is in places like Turkey, where it's positively dangerous for people to express anti-government preferences on open networks like Facebook," explained one of the study's authors, Nic Newman.
"As a result people are using closed groups where they are more confident of expressing their views."
WhatsApp has also benefited from the fact that in much of Latin America and elsewhere mobile networks are offering unlimited data use within the program, so encouraging its use.
Furthermore, several Spanish and Chilean media outlets have embraced the app. Radio stations commonly ask listeners to send in short voice recordings via the service, and local news sites have added share-to-WhatsApp buttons to their pages.
However, Mr Newman said beyond that, it was difficult for the media to take advantage of the app's popularity beyond publishing stories that people want to share.
"You can set up branded areas or groups of people on your own, but it's incredibly clunky and time consuming, and there are few tools to help," he explained.
"And part of WhatsApp's appeal is that users don't get interrupted by brands, making it a very pure form of messaging. That's something [its developers] will really try to hold to."
Too close to power
The report also highlights widespread concerns about so-called "fake news".
It highlights users' suspicions that social media's lack of rules and use of viral algorithms have helped low-quality false stories spread quickly.
But it says there is also strong distrust of the mainstream media, in particular in Asian and central, southern and eastern European countries, where the industry is perceived as being too close to government.
Analysis: Amol Rajan, Media EditorThis year's Digital News Report is even more sobering than usual.
Many of the institutions that contribute to democracy in the West are undergoing a crisis of trust. News providers are no exception. UK citizens' trust in news "in general" has fallen by 7% since the Brexit referendum, the report suggests.
That is a worrying drop. Combine it with Reuters' revelation that the proportion of people paying for online news in the UK remains "among the lowest of all countries" surveyed, and alarm bells should ring.
One reason for this could be the BBC, whose dominance in our news ecosystem might mean fewer people feel the need to pay for good information.
There is currently a problem with an interactive element on this page. Please try loading this page again in a little while.
For a new generation, the link between high-quality general news and payment for that news might be breaking.
The internet has made general, daily news a very common commodity. With tech giants like Facebook and Google eating ever more of the advertising pie, news providers may find they have to specialise if they are to get audiences to part with cash. And those audiences won't pay for content they don't trust.
Rebuilding that trust, in an era of digital echo chambers and fake news, is going to be tough. But it must be done.Yahoo News remains the most popular online news brand, in terms of the numbers of people using it at least once a week, across the 36 markets as a whole.
It also ranked as the top online source of online news in the US, Japan and Taiwan.
Its success may have been driven in part by the fact many users said it was better at delivering "amusing and entertaining" content than the competition.
Other findings reported include:
dedicated news apps appear to be making a "comeback", but this is thought to be because existing users are making more regular use of the programs rather than there being a surge in the number of new installs
Apple News is one of the fastest growing news aggregator services, with some publishers reporting that up to a third of their mobile traffic now comes from the app and its related widget, which flags stories on iOS devices' search screens
online video remains a tough sell, with nearly half of respondents saying they had not consumed a clip on a news site or via social media in the past weekBlocking ad blockers
Making money from online news remains problematic.
The study said 84% of respondents had not paid for content in the past year.
However, it highlighted that there had been a "Trump bump" in the US, where several newspapers had attracted hundreds of thousands of new digital subscribers, many of whom have left-wing views and are under 35.

PoliticsMalaysia Inaugurates New Mathematics Method In Nigeria by actiondrilling(op): 6:44am On Jun 22, 2017
The Malaysian High Commissioner, Mr Datum Lim, has inaugurated the Social Intellectual Progressive (SIP) Abacus that would help strengthen the bridge in mathematical learning in Nigeria.

Lim made the inauguration and presentation of the SIP and Brain Gym on Wednesday in Abuja.
He urged Nigerians to adopt the SIPAbacus teaching method that originated from Malaysia to strengthen mathematics skills in Nigeria.
Lim said that Nigeria had a larger number of students studying in Malaysia, adding that about 15,000 Nigerians were presently studying in Malaysia.
“Mathematics is what students are usually afraid of, the introduction of SIP Abacus in Nigeria will help strengthen the bridge in mathematics.
“It will also help to strengthen intellectual sharing of best practice and teaching methods in Nigeria.
“Children need to be well-taught at early age bracket of five to 12 years. If you don’t teach these children on time, someone will teach them violence in life,” Lim said.
The envoy said that the brain gym was like a motivational group activity to arouse the interest of children in learning.
“As you know, when we were young, sometimes going to school may not be a very good experience.
“When it comes to subjects, I think mathematics is something that a lot of people are afraid of, Abacus is one of the ways to introduce mathematics to children.
“The introduction of Abacus to Nigeria is new to Abuja but not in Nigeria,” he added.
The Founder of SIP Abacus Worldwide, Mr Kelvin Tham. said that SIP was a way of aiding learning with the use of Abacus.
Tham said that Abacus had been used to coach 500,000 kids between ages five and 12 in India, Philippines, United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, South Africa and other countries since 1993.
“Every child is born smart, all they need is skills. Everyone in Nigeria will have good learning skills with the help of Abacus,” Tham said.
According to him, major key in successful learning is by imagination and learning ability.
Also speaking, Prof. Egbokhare Ilevbare of the the University of Ibadan, said that in the process of globalisation, skills were more important than possession of natural resources.
Ilevbare said that there was the need for creative education.
“It is no excuse that you cannot fit into the international scene because you are a Nigerian since the tools are available.
“Because competition and education are no longer local, Nigerians are partnering with Malaysia to replicate the Abacus teaching method of the same standard in the country,” Ilevbare said.
The Chairperson, Educraft SIP Academy, Mrs Omolara Omontuenmhen, said that SIP Abacus was introduced in Nigeria by Malaysia to teach mathematics in a fun-loving way.
Omontuenmhen, who got the franchise to replicate the method in Nigeria, said that Abacus would take children through on how to understand the basic things (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) within the shortest period.
“And then when they get to Primary School, we teach them how to cram. We teach them ten times twelve, and when they get to twelve times twelve that is the end because they cannot go further and that is when Abacus starts.
“This is because Abacus will tell you 15 times 55, you have to understand how to get it within one minute.”
According to her, those that studied sciences here without Abacus find it difficult at the international schools owing to the method of learning in Nigeria.
Omontuenmhen said that many schools claiming to be using Montessori method of teaching did great job at the nursery level but could not continue.
“They drop the idea of Montessori when they get to secondary school but this is the continuation of Montossori which people adopt at the formation stage, from five years to twelves years,” Omontuenmhen said.
On brain gym, she said a child needed to know how to put an analytical process down in a domestic way.

HealthOndo Records Five Cases Of Lassa Fever by actiondrilling(op): 5:55am On Jun 22, 2017
Five fresh cases of Lassa fever were yesterday confirmed in Ondo State with two incidents in Akoko South West council and three in Owo council areas of the state. This created tension in Owo town, which has the higher cases leading to the closure of Achievers University, where a female student was confirmed to have caught the fever.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Tunji Ibiyemi, who addressed journalists at the campus, refuted allegations that there were multiple cases, insisting that the institution only recorded one case.
He, however, noted that the victim, who must have contracted it from her residence off campus, had been treated at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo and should be discharged soon.

Due to the confirmed case, Ibiyemi said the management had declared a three-week break, making it mandatory for students to present certificates of medical fitness from a recognized government institution on resumption.
He added that the university was also collaborating with the FMC and the state government to ensure that the institution and town was safe for all. Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Taiye Oni, has lamented that the outbreak of the disease came at an unexpected time.
“This is not the usual time it occurs in Ondo State. It usually occurs during the dry season and limited to Owo and Ose,” he said. Oni, however, stressed that government has stepped up measures to combat the disease by reactivating its disease notification and surveillance mechanism.
“Government is doing its best to contain the spread by isolating the patients to prevent its further spread, adding it had embarked on aggressive contact tracing, sensitisation of the people not only in Owo and Ose but also other parts of the state on prevention and precautionary measures,” he added.

CelebritiesFg Denies Removing Crk From Secondary School Curriculum by actiondrilling(op): 5:49am On Jun 22, 2017
The Federal Government has denied reports that Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK) has been removed as a subject of study from the curriculum of public secondary schools ‎in Nigeria.

Also, indication emerged yesterday that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) may have turned down a blueprint proposed by the Ministry of Education on education sector in the country.

Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, who spoke yesterday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, described the reports as speculative.

He said there was no iota of truth in the allegations, adding that the leadership of CAN was deceived by the media in the reports. “The issue of Christian Religious Knowledge that all the national media and social media took up, deceived even the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria because they believed it.

“I read in the papers that they asked the Acting President to confirm. There is no truth in it at all. It was just somebody’s imagination, probably somebody who wishes to raise tension in the country after the Biafra issue and then the quit order given to some young people in the North. The person just followed suit trying to stoke the embers of religion.

“There is no truth whatsoever, I repeat,” he said. Meanwhile, the Council may have, in rejecting the blueprint presented by the minister on revamping education in the country, opted for a retreat to have a holistic view of the problems bedeviling the sector and proffer solutions to them.

The minister said that the Council acknowledged the fallen standard of education in Nigeria and agreed on the seriousness of the development and the need for a ministerial retreat to look at all the issues bedeviling the sector.

He stated: “Initially, we had prepared a blueprint but FEC felt the issues is beyond that because there are crises in all the areas of education, out-of-school children, technical education and training, ICT and in all the areas you can think of. So, ministers are going to start talking to themselves and come out with solutions.

“There are a lot of issues. All of them are crying for attention. So, there will be a ministerial retreat in the next two weeks to look at the issues and from there, we will take off in what we are doing.”

CrimeCourt Sentences Cleric To 14 Years Imprisonment For Attempted Robbery by actiondrilling(op): 5:35am On Jun 22, 2017
A Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja yesterday sentenced an Islamic cleric, Taofeek Olawale, to 14 years imprisonment for attempted robbery. Justice Raliat Adebiyi gave the sentence after he was found guilty on the two-count charge of conspiracy and attempted armed robbery filed against him by the state government.

Olawale has been in prison custody since 2012. Delivering judgment, Adebiyi held that that the prosecution proved his case of attempted robbery against the defendant.

“The witness told the court that the defendant was wearing a white garment when he was caught in the night of the incident, a claim that was corroborated by the defendant who affirmed that he was wearing a white caftan that night.

“The defendant was also at the scene of the crime with the witness who is also the victim identifying him,” she ruled and sentenced him to 14 years imprisonment on both charges.

During the trial, the convict had insisted that he was innocent when he told the court that he had gone to Lakowe Junction on May 6,2012, to offer sacrifices on behalf of one of his clients.

“I live at Lakowe. On the day of the incident around 12 am, I had gone to the T-junction at Lakowe dressed in a white caftan to offer sacrifices on behalf of my client who was having spiritual problems.

“It was while I was chanting incantations that someone suddenly appeared with a cutlass and struck me on the head. I lost consciousness only to wake up and find myself in the Lagos State Teaching Hospital,” he said.

But the complainant, Jephpta Ekwueme who was the only prosecution witness told the court that on the day of the incident he was lying in bed when someone shone a torch through his window and commanded him to open the door.

“I heard more than one voice commanding me to open the door to my apartment that they were armed robbers. “I grabbed a cutlass and swung it through the window and it hit one of them. They ran away and I opened the door and shouted for my neighbours help. I pursued one of them who happened to be the defendant who I had injured with the cutlass. He wore a long white garment.

“He ran into the next compound and I followed him there. I managed to subdue him until the police arrived,” he narrated.

PoliticsAbuja Gets First “solar Powered Energy” Estate by actiondrilling(op): 8:10pm On Jun 20, 2017
The Chief Executive Officer, Sungold Group Ltd., Abuja, Mr Amarachi Iwuanyanwu, has announced the completion of its first set of 350 Solar powered Energy Estates in Gwarinpa in Abuja.

According to Iwuanyanwu, the set of buildings are part of the over 4,000 being planned for the FCT Abuja and on completion will be first of its kind in Nigeria.

Iwuayanwu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja that it is time builders in the country start to think outside the box to meet the housing needs of Nigerians.

He stressed the need for critical infrastructure like power in some housing estates, saying that most elegant buildings remain an “uncompleted project” as owners still need to continually source for energy to make their homes comfortable.

“Housing also becomes more expensive, when you quantify this additional cost of generating power through the use of generators and the attendant environmental pollution it causes.

It becomes necessary for developers to seek permanent solution.

This, he said, informed the idea behind smart homes that will incorporate inbuilt sources of power not dependent on external energy supply.

Iwuanyanwu said, “already this innovation has gone down well with our clients/buyers, who inundate us daily with enquiries about owing such dream homes where power outage no longer constitute a challenge.

He said spurred by the housing deficit in the country, “Sungold a foremost Estate builder is determined with the good environment created by the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to build affordable houses in every part of Nigeria.”

NAN reports that according to experts in the housing sector, Nigeria is in deficit of over 17 million housing for its 170 million citizens, whereas China with its 1.3 billion populations has a surplus of 70 million unoccupied houses.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing, Mustapha Shehuri, has assured that the present administration is determined to bridge the housing deficit confronting the nation.

He said this at the inauguration of a housing estate initiated by the Federal Mortgage Bank under public/private partnership agreement in March.

CareerPolice Sack 2 Traffic Wardens For Extortion by actiondrilling(op): 7:28pm On Jun 20, 2017
The Nigeria Police Force, on Tuesday, said it had dismissed two traffic wardens attached to the Wuse Police Division from service for extorting money from a motorist in Abuja.

The affected officers are Musa Muktari with service F/No. 394120 and Shuaibu Sulieman with service F/No. 10627.
The Head, Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit ( PCRRU), ACP Abayomi Shogunle, made this disclosure in statement in Abuja.
He said the dismissal followed an Orderly Room trial at the Provost Department, Force Headquarters, where they were found guilty of abuse of office, soliciting and receiving bribe, contrary to the police Act and Regulation of 1990.
Shogunle said that the unit immediately began an investigation as soon as the matter was reported to it on May 30 by the motorist.
He said that the two officers accused the motorist of beating traffic light along Wuse market road and demanded a bribe of N15,000 from him.
Shogunle said that they led him to an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) not far from their duty post, where he was forced to withdraw the money which he gave them.
He said that one of the wardens in the process forgot his cell phone in the motorist’s car.
“The sum of N15,000 earlier extorted from the complainant was recovered from both wardens (N7, 500 each, as the money was already shared,”he said.
He said that the money had been returned to the motorist, who was so delighted about it.
Shogunle said the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, had lauded the complainant for exposing this unprofessional and unacceptable conduct of the traffic wardens.

PoliticsUpdated-ifeanyi Ubah Has Been Released By The Dss by actiondrilling(op): 5:10pm On Jun 20, 2017
Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, the managing director of Capital Oil and Gas Limited has been released from DSS’s detention after several weeks.

Sources said the oil mogul was released yesterday night unconditionally by the Department of State Services after a “No Case” was established, following a tedious investigation by the DSS in his rift with the NNPC.

The DSS had arrested Dr. Ubah over his alleged connection with a claimed theft of petrol kept in his tank farm in Lagos by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

The product, it said, was valued at over N11 billion. The agency said Ubah’s action amounted to economic sabotage, with “capacity to negatively impact on national economy.”

A statement by its spokesman, Tony Opuiyo had said further that Ubah was also arrested because he further engaged in other activities inimical to national security and public order.
“In furtherance of his gimmicks to undermine the government and people of Nigeria, he has incited members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD), a critical player in the downstream sub-sector of the Petroleum Industry, to refuse/stop the lifting of products.
“This is part of his plans to curry their sentiments and cause them to embark on strike and also stage protests in his favour with the ulterior motive of arm-twisting the NNPC to abandon the cause of recovering the stolen products.
“The implications of this on law and order is, in fact, a common knowledge. It is consequent upon this that the Service arrested and will prosecute him forthwith.
“The public is hereby reassured that the Service will collaborate with appropriate agencies to ensure that the mischievous activities of any person or group(s) to engage in illegal activities will not affect the effective distribution of products across the country.
“It will also support such agencies to bring to book individuals or companies involved in any criminal act that undermines the nation’s economy”.
However, the source from Ubah’s camp who also confirmed his release said the oil magnate decided to keep his release on a low key.
Recall that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, had accused Ubah of diverting its product in his tank farm amounting to N11billion.
But Ubah had denied the allegation, maintaining he is innocent while providing proves that the NNPC was not sincere with its position against him.
Ubah had, through an official letter from his firm, confirmed that he had a face-off with the government-owned firm, NNPC over unpaid and overdue debt amounting to over N16billion owed his company, Capital oil & Gas.

Celebrities"My Marriage With Tonto Dikeh Is Over" - Churchill by actiondrilling(op): 3:41pm On Jun 20, 2017
Last weekend, fresh reports surfaced online about the 7-month old crisis rocking Tonto Dikeh's relationship with her estranged hubby, Olakunle Churchill. A text message she sent to her mother-in-law was released online and Churchill's first wife also came into picture supporting Tonto Dikeh and threatening to expose Churchill.

LIB met Churchill at a conference where he spoke about unveiling a new Anti-Domestic Violence programme. Though reluctant at first, Churchill agreed to speak with us.

In this tell-all interview, Churchill calls out Azuka of Media Room Hub who he says refused to publish the evidence he gave to her because she has mutual friends with Tonto Dikeh. He also went to say he's done fighting to save the relationship.

Let's talk about your new domestic violence initiative?

The domestic violence campaign that we are embarking on with some partners from United Kingdom. We'll be setting up a domestic violence center where we'll have a call center to link up cases of emergencies with hospitals and police stations to give quick response and aids to victims of domestic violence. The issue of domestic violence cuts across men and women but most times the attention and focus is always on women, so this initiative seeks to investigate and examine all cases of domestic violence because we'll be working with the police and relevant authorities.

Your relationship with Tonto Dikeh has been marred with accusations of domestic violence, how do you intend to deal with that and your new campaign?
The truth is, what you read in the news is different from reality. My partner fights dirty and that's what she's put out there. Tonto will say anything to sound believable and gain public sympathy and that's what she puts out there. It's not real, I've never laid my hands on her ever. I'm not a violent person and I'm not temperamental, as a matter of fact I don;t take offence on anything at all, that's how God made me, people who are close to me knows this, when I'm upset about something I simply avoid the offender and come to terms with the fact that I don't need such vibes around me.

So how do you defend allegations that you beat her, made her lose a 4-month pregnancy and always cheat on her.

They are all fabricated, because my partner believes she's a celebrity and she can make people believe whatever she wants them to believe and using her celebrity status to manipulate people to believe what she wants and she's in the business of make-belief but I'm a businessman, a man of very few words too. I am a private person, but she prides herself on the fact that she has the platform and fan base to bring anyone down and she also feels by the time she deals with me, I'll come back begging.

I met Tonto like 6-months before she took in, so where did the initial 4 months pregnancy come from or did it come after she gave birth to my son?

Because she traveled during her pregnancy and came back when King was 4-month old and we had only stayed together for about 6-months after that before all the issues started, she was still breast feeding. And if indeed she had and lost a 4-month pregnancy, that will require for her to do an evacuation, which hospital did it for her and evidence does she have? It was all done to bring down my image and o destroy my reputation.

Have you actually attempted to beg and make peace?

Yes I have. The main thing that started this fight was between she and my mum and it was very dirty. I bought a house for my mum in Lekki and she came over from overseas so we can do a house warming party to launch it and just 24-hours before the house warming party, my partner got angry over a very flimsy issue and she just started breaking stuffs and scattering the house and in the process while my mum was trying to calm her down, she pushed my mum down as well. I had never seen that in my life, I had to prostrate for my mum to apologize and that was how the house warning party was cancelled because it was just 24-hours to the party and Tonto had destroyed the house, breaking and damaging things.

This happened on December 20th and the following day I packed a few of my things and traveled to Ghana. So I felt she was scared or confused on how to handle it, so she went online and started the stunts by removing Churchill from her name. And don't forget, I said this issue happened on December 20th, on the 22nd, she had one of her charity events where she kicked off a road construction work at The Karamajiji Colony Abuja of people living with disabilities on Friday, December 23, 2016 courtesy of the Big Church Foundation pledge at the walk for love event. She looked all good without any signs of beating or domestic violence which shows it was a false allegation that i laid my hands on her.

In fairness to her, while I was in Ghana, she sent a lot of text messages to apologize but I guess I took too long because I was away for over two weeks and then she just switched on me. Truth is I was actually In shock. She did that just one day to my mum's event, we had already called people, invited pastors to bless the house and all only to cancel it at the last minute because my partner destroyed the house.

So she played a fast one when I saw the story on Stella's blog with the 'rumors had it stunt' in January this year which began this whole process. Truth is, I only traveled to Ghana for a charity event with my staffs from the Abuja office just before my birthday,

What do you think is making her this bitter to fight you this much despite the love that once existed between you two?
Some people simply don't like to loose a battle and because she's a celebrity, what happened was too heavy for her to bear. She felt if the news got out, it'll be bad for her so she switched it and once she started to play the victim card, she had to continue it but it got to a point when she left my house with my son and nanny before I came back to Nigeria and she went on to grant an interview where she accused me of domestic violence and it's all lies, there's nothing like a four month pregnancy or any of the other lies. I was not even in the country when she claimed she ran away from the house because of domestic violence. So it was all planned and she took her time to pack everything because the estate still has the CCTV footage of her moving out with a Sienna and a truck.

From that interview with Azuka, she showed images of an alleged domestic violence, but she also put on a pendant (with the diamond crown customized with my son's name which I handed over to her on December 1, 2016. And in the same picture, she alleged loosing 4-months pregnancy wearing the same cloth and the same pendant. It just doesn't make sense bearing in mind that the fracas happened at my mum's home on December 20th so the timelines just don't match. she keeps complicating herself. Even the pictire she showed during the interview was shown from her phone, it wasn't clear.

Then you also granted your own interview as well?

Yea, I wouldn't have granted that interview, but the allegations were too much and because of my brand. She called me a murderer, wife beater, claimed I gave her STDs and even said my foundation is a scam and everyone knows we don;t collect money from any one for the foundation, we only use the 10% profit from Big Church Group to run it, just like paying tithe.

So I had to grant the interview when the Azuka lady from MediaRooom Hub came to me to debunk those allegations but unfortunately all the evidences I gave to Azuka was never used. I heard Azuka also went to Ghana to make findings from the embassy and police but she refused to publish all the truth she found out because she has mutual friends with Tonto Dikeh. God knows I wouldn't have granted her the interview, but they were the ones who interviewed my partner so I felt it was right I also speak through the same medium with facts.

Do you think there's still room to make it work out between you guys?

Oh, I've tried, but it's just like seeing danger and you going for it. I tried to get the relationship back so I could help her condition and because of my kid but she doesn't want peace.

While you guys were together, you produced a movie 'Kada River', why didn't she act in it?
For me, my work life is different from my family life, I try to separate it. When we started work on the movie, we weren't really in god terms even though I told her about the project. The truth is, instead of her wasting this much energy in trying to bring her husband down, I think she can put that energy to good use by going back to work and be productive. If you don't want the marriage again, you don't need to be dramatic about it by telling the world because they really don't care about you. I think she should go back to movies, reconcile with people she's offended in the industry and be humble.

What's the relationship with your son and your reaction to the fact that she dressed as you to attend his father's day event in school?

That's the main reason why I was trying to make it work, because she does somethings that are not normal at all. And only someone close to her can save her because she needs help. It's been 7-months now and all she's been doing is to give me a bad name.

She makes it look like I don't care about my son. I help other kids, so why will i ignore my son. Since my son got back to country when he was 4-months, I opened a Zenith bank account for him and his mum is he sole signatory to that account. I put money in that account regularly. I send money to her own account as well and she won't even acknowledge the money when she gets it but she goes on saying I don't take care of my son.

I've invited her family over to try and make peace but she's been deceiving everyone and goes back online to pull her stunts and the truth is King's passport has been with me since he got back from the states.

She recently said she's taken King to alot of countries in the last one year?

King has never stepped out of Africa since he got back at 4-month old. I have been with his international passport, the only place he could have gone is Ghana with hos Ecowas passport in her possession.

A few days back, your first wife also came online to speak against your mum?

The true story about that is this My first wife and marriage was a mistake, I was rushed into it. We had only dated for 6-weeks before we did something in her church. there was no registry, court. We didn't even go through the normal process of counselling and all that, like I said we had only dated for 6-weeks. I only got to know later that the church thing we did was fast tracked. We had separated for 2-years and 7-months before I met Tonto. The priest form the church said the marriage was wrong and should be annulled but she insisted on getting paper works when Tonto started with her Mr X saga. and I don't like wasting my life or my time so I had to move on because she told me she has moved on too and we didn't have any child together. So in all honesty, we had gone our separate ways before Tonto Dikeh came into the picture and Tonto knew about it all and the process of getting the paperwork sorted from my first marriage since she insisted and that is why I and Tonto didn't didn't do any official yet till we got it sorted out.

So we only went to meet the chiefs in Tonto's place because she was pregnant. We've not even done the proper traditional marriage. So I kind of find the connection between my first wife and Tonto Dikeh very strange because the last I know, they weren't on talking terms and they never met but then I also know Tonto can do anything to bring me down even as the father of her child.

Both of them seem to have an attack against your mum in common as well?
What they are doing is planned. I see they've been liking each other's posts on Instagram and the way Tonto operates is this. If she wants to bring you down, she'll be friends with your enemy, she fights so hard.

But the truth is, they both had issues with my mum, and I don't understand why my wife will not respect my mum. I can't just get married to you in one year and you are insulting my mum and calling her names, pushing her down. They know I love my mum so much and will do anything for her. It's not like you are lacking or suffering as a wife but anytime I do something for my mum, it becomes a problem. I know what that woman has been through, she goes on many days dry fasting for my sake so you don't expect me to allow her to be disrespected.

In conclusion, what's the plan you have for your son?
For my son, I don't want him to grow up in that kind of environment and I also didn't want to do anything to hurt Tonto because she's the mother of my child. In real life, I'm easy going, I'm not a trouble maker but the way she paints me as a trouble maker, I should have gone to her house and forcefully take my son or take her to court and start dragging a case, but I've not done none of that, I'm letting her take her time because he's my son and no one can take that away.

Tonto is the kind of person that I can go to her house to see my son and just knocking at her door, she'll scream domestic violence again, she knows how to manipulate things, so you have to be very careful with that kind of person.

Reflecting over everything now, do you think you relationship with her was a mistake?

Yes it was and I knew it when I was going into it. I knew I was going into danger, but I was ready to go into it to save her, but right now I do not care anymore, I'm done, I can' deal with it anymore. I don't want the relationship anymore. She says I borrowed money from her and I'm like how? where is the evidence? At least I gave her 10 million naira last Christmas and I have proof of payment, so if she borrowed me money, she should prove it.

All these kind of negativity comes from someone who said she fasted 21 days before she met me, someone who said I brought her closer to God, so where is God in this situation and the way she wants my downfall?

Now that you are single again, would you consider going into any relationship again?
NO. I don't have any plans for that. Now it's just business because I'm still in shock.

PoliticsSenate Will Soon Amend Constitution, Says Saraki by actiondrilling(op): 6:16am On Jun 19, 2017
Senate President Bukola Saraki yesterday said the Senate would soon amend the Constitution. The Senate president who listed several laws that have been passed to boost the economy, said: “We hope to finalise the Constitution review. This is an area the budget has been holding us back. Now that the budget has been passed, our main priority when we resume is constitutional review. The report is ready.”

He spoke in Lagos when he declared open the 11th Annual Business Law Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL), with the theme: “Law and the changing face of legal practice.”
Saraki also urged Nigerians to demand accountability from the government, adding that the private sector can even drive the government. He said that Nigeria cannot achieve its full potential if government does not engage technocrats in driving the development process.

“I believe there is a misconception by the private sector. We all believe that the responsibility is for those of us in government. That is true. But I believe that you can drive your government. You can make your government do what is necessary to create the right business environment.
“This is a great country with great potential. But the reason why we’ll never achieve our potential is that there is a mismatch. This mismatch is that the calibre and capacity of those in government cannot match those in the private sector,” he said.
Apart from the private sector’s input in governance, Saraki said government alone cannot fund infrastructure deficit even if it has to borrow. According to him, there is a mismatch between what politicians can offer and what skilled experts can bring to governance. Both, he said, must work together.
Saraki said it behooves the private sector to push the government to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. Lagos State governor Akinwunmi Ambode, represented by the Attorney-General Adeniji Kazeem, urged lawyers to help develop laws that will enhance the ease of doing business.

PoliticsGovernment, Dangote, Others, Sign N4.3b Pact To Revamp Apapa/wharf Road by actiondrilling(op): 6:09am On Jun 18, 2017
Signs that succour is on the way for residents, motorists and business concerns along Apapa/Wharf road emerged yesterday, when the Federal Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) towards reconstruction of Apapa/Wharf road.

Firms involved in the MoU include, AG. Dangote, a construction company based in Brazil, which will provide technical expertise; Flour Mills of Nigeria and the Nigerian Ports Authority.
Under the arrangement, AG Dangote is to finance the project estimated to cost about N4.34b, in partnership with Flour Mills and the NPA, while the Federal Government is to act in supervisory capacity.

The project, to be executed in concrete design as opposed to the usual asphalt, is expected to eliminate the burden occasioned by heavy-duty trucks and containerized vehicles, as well as, guarantee longevity of the road.
Speaking at the occasion, Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, said the partnership is expected to bring an end to the massive inconveniences to businesses and residents of Apapa over the years.
Fashola acknowledged the leadership role of Dangote group, Flour Mills and the Nigerian Ports Authority in coming up with a reconstruction design that addresses the drainage problem occasioned by the swampy nature of Apapa and Ijora axis.
He pointed out that “this place used to be Nigeria’s first industrial estate serving as the network of roads to move cargo in and out of the port, but for many decades, we have allowed the road system to go into disuse due to absence of rail system.”
He said the N4.3b bill would be sourced and paid for by the three groups working together, adding that choice of the construction company was based on the fact that they are going to use concrete.
In his speech, the Honourary Adviser to the President/CEO, Dangote Group Mr. Joseph Makoju, said the idea of taking up the road is to ensure business sustainability and make life more convenient for residents in the area and to serve as a contribution towards infrastructural development.
The occasion was witnessed by the Managing Director of Nigerian Port Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman, Managing Director of Flour Mills of Nigeria, Mr. Paul Gbededo, Chief Executive Officer of AG-Dangote, Ashif Juma, representatives of Truck Owners, Petroleum Haulage, Maritime Operators, Stakeholders, residents, representatives of businesses in Apapa and its immediate environment.

Residents of the restive region said a female suicide bomber was also killed during the attack.

According to the residents, the bomber entered Limani close to Cameroon’s border with Nigeria and detonated the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) strapped on her body.

A soldier was killed in an attack in Kolofata, 20 kilometres west of Limani last week and in early June, nine people died in suicide attacks in the same town.

CelebritiesSinger Harrysong Loses Twitter Account To Hackers Again by actiondrilling(op): 11:35am On Jun 16, 2017
Alterplate Music Company Boss and lead artiste, Harrison Tare Okiri, Harrysong has lost his Twitter account, yet again.

Harrysong was for months shut out of his account, @iammrsongz by dare devil hackers after several attempts to defraud him proved abortive.

The singer’s twitter account was earlier in the year hacked and recovered a month after. Shortly after the account was restored, it was hacked again, hence the decision to abandon it completely for a new one becomes the sensible move.

Harrysong has launched a new twitter handle, @iamharrysong and wishes to inform his fans to connect with him via the new medium.

Iterating that all his other social media handles remain the same, Harrysong also seizes this opportunity to register his unreserved appreciation to his teaming fans for their undying love and standing by him even in the most challenging times.

PoliticsWorries As Boko Haram Bride Disappears by actiondrilling(op): 6:31am On Jun 16, 2017
The disappearance of a former Boko Haram bride who recently returned home after three years in the militants’ stronghold in northeast Nigeria has stoked concern about the difficulty of deradicalising and reintegrating women seized by the jihadists.

The wife of a Boko Haram commander, 25-year-old Aisha, was among 70 women and children who in February finished a nine-month deradicalisation programme, having being captured by the army in a raid on the militants’ Sambisa forest base last year.

Last month Aisha vanished from her family home in Borno’s state capital Maiduguri, taking the baby boy fathered by her Boko Haram husband and some of her clothes, according to her younger sister Bintu Yerima.

“Before she left … she had received a phone call from a woman who was with her (in the programme),” 22-year-old Yerima told the Thomson Reuters Foundation by phone from Maiduguri. “The woman said that she had returned to the Sambisa forest.”

Phone calls to Aisha after she disappeared went unanswered, and her mobile has since been switched off, her sister added.

Fatima Akilu, a psychologist and head of the Neem Foundation, an anti-extremism group which ran the state-backed programme, said she had heard that some of the women who were under her care, including Aisha, had gone back to Boko Haram.

“Rehabilitation, reintegration is a long process … complicated by the fact we have an active, ongoing insurgency.”

Boko Haram’s bloody campaign to create an Islamic state is now in its eighth year with little sign of ending, and has claimed more than 20,000 lives and uprooted 2.7 million people.

“When you have fathers, husbands, sons and brothers who are still in the movement, they (the women) want to be reunited … to go back to a place where they feel they belong,” added Akilu.

POWER AND SHAME

The allure of power may be another factor in their return.

Thousands of girls and women have been abducted by Boko Haram since 2009 – most notably the more than 200 Chibok girls snatched one night from their school in April 2014 – with many of them used as cooks, sex slaves, and even suicide bombers.

Yet some of these women, like Aisha, say they managed to gain respect, influence and standing within the militant group.

Aisha told the Thomson Reuters Foundation earlier this year that other women kidnapped by Boko Haram were given to her as “slaves” because she was married to leading militant Mamman Nur.

Seduced by the power, and disenchanted with the domestic drudgery of their everyday lives, women are far more difficult than men to deradicalise and reintegrate into their communities, said Akilu, who called for more support for the former captives.

“Women often come out successful from deradicalisation programmes, but they struggle in the community,” Akilu said. “Some face a lot of stigma. They feel like pariahs.”

Many Nigerians fear women abducted by Boko Haram have been radicalised and may recruit others or commit violence once they return home, and that their children born of rape may have been tainted by the “bad blood” of the militants, according to a 2016 report by charity International Alert and the U.N. children’s agency (UNICEF).

“It needs a lot of work to get communities to accept women who have done the almost unthinkable,” said Akilu, who explained how the reintegration process can take several years.

PoliticsMilitants Give Northerners October 1 To Quit Niger Delta by actiondrilling(op): 6:06am On Jun 16, 2017
A coalition of Niger Delta militant groups rose from a meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State yesterday ordering all northerners to quit the oil-rich region. The militants threatened to attack all oil wells owned by northerners in Niger Delta before October 1, 2017.

The groups, under the aegis of the Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators, berated the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, Inspector General of Police, Department of State Services and the Army for not arresting those who issued an ultimatum to Igbo to leave the north.
This development has stoked the tension that is threatening to tear the nation apart. The government which has initiated a peace process may have to increase its parleys with stakeholders to avert the threats to the Nigerian union.

At the joint meeting between the Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators and youth leaders across the region to review the state of the nation, the militant leaders demanded an immediate return of oil blocs owned by northerners to the Niger Delta people.
Among the groups and their leaders that endorsed a joint statement issued after the meeting were: Gen. John Duku (Niger Delta Watchdogs); Gen. Ekpo Ekpo (Niger Delta Volunteers); Gen. Osarolor Nedam (Niger Delta Warriors); Major-Gen. Henry Okon Etete (Niger Delta Peoples Fighters); Major-Gen. Asukwo Henshaw (Bakassi Freedom Fighters); Major-Gen. Ibinabo Horsfall (Niger Delta Movement for Justice); Major-Gen. Duke Emmanson (Niger Delta Fighters Network); Major-Gen. Inibeghe Adams (Niger Delta Freedom Mandate); and Major-Gen. Ibinabo Tariah (Niger Delta Development Network).
The militants also threatened that all oil and gas companies operating in oil wells illegally owned by northerners should vacate such blocs, wells and platforms before October 1, 2017.
“We condemn in totality the meeting held by the Acting President with some northern elders and youths. We see it as a grand conspiracy. A responsible government should have arrested those traitors, but our government rather turned round to meet with them and pleaded for peace; does the Nigerian government see people from other zones as second-class citizens? Why are they more important to the Acting President, why is it that the Nigerian law is always weak when it involves the northerners? We are still watching the unfolding events with keen interest,” the militants said.
They said it was not surprising that the Inspector General of Police, Department of State Service and even the Army failed to arrest any of the northern youths who issued similar threats for Igbo to leave the North before October 1, 2017.
The militants said they were fully prepared to declare the Sovereign Republic of Niger Delta on October 1, 2017, and therefore called on all their compatriots to remain focused, united and steadfast.

According to them, the liberation of the people of the region from the alleged slavery of Nigeria remains their primary target. “We want to sound this as a warning to all the northerners living in Niger Delta to quit our land before October 1, 2017 as this is not just a threat. After October 1, 2017, any northerner found within the Republic of Niger Delta shall be seen as an intruder and shall be treated as such.
“We also use this opportunity to advise oil & gas companies in our territory to shut down further operations, PENGASSAN and NUPENG to warn/withdraw their members from Niger Delta before October 1, 2017 or risk their lives. Our next action will surprise you,” they said.
The groups also demanded the immediate relocation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) headquarters to Niger Delta and replacement of the Group Managing Director of NNPC with an indigene of Niger Delta region.
According to them, all offices, boards and agencies that have anything to do with oil and gas should be relocated immediately to Niger Delta and all non-Niger Delta directors, staff be replaced with the indigenes.
Meanwhile, Acting President Osinbajo will next week convene a joint meeting of northern leaders and their Igbo counterparts in continuation of efforts to resolve the impasse and tension created by the quit notice to Igbo people living in the northern part of the country by the Arewa youths.
The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, who stated this yesterday, appealed to the Igbo to remain calm and patient in the face of the tension created by the ultimatum, noting that Osinbajo had allayed their fear and assured them that the Federal Government would be fair to all.
Nwodo, who was accompanied by some Igbo leaders, including the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Charles Soludo and Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka, Most Rev. Prof. Godfrey Onah, spoke as they arrived at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport yesterday from Abuja.
He told reporters that the acting president copiously offered explanations to the Igbo leaders on the areas of concern they had raised, including their perceived feeling that the Igbo were being treated as second-class citizens in their own country.

Meanwhile, Osinbajo and the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi yesterday met behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The Emir was said to have arrived at Osinbajo’s office at exactly 2:40p.m.
The meeting lasted until 4:50 p.m. when Sanusi emerged from Osinbajo’s office with a few palace aides who accompanied him. The Emir declined to comment when State House Correspondents approached him but proceeded to exchange pleasantries with some presidential aides and workers in the Vice Presidential wing of the State House.

Phones400 Communities, 347 Lgas Benefit From Mtn Foundation by actiondrilling(op): 9:40am On Jun 13, 2017
In fulfilling the promise of improving the quality of lives in our communities, MTN Foundation’s ‘What Can We Do Together’ initiative has impacted over 10 million Nigerians in 400 communities and 347 local government areas across Nigeria.

In these 347 local government areas, the following projects have been delivered and installed: 40 Transformers, 40 Boreholes and 14,200 school furniture. In addition, household items have been donated to 66 orphanage homes as well as supply of medical equipment to 80 primary healthcare centres.

The initiative was well-received and lauded by residents in the beneficiary communities as the Foundation caters for educational needs through the donation of school furniture; health needs through the donation of medical supplies and economic empowerment intervention through the donation of transformers and boreholes across the different communities.

Speaking on the initiative, the Executive Secretary, MTN Foundation, Ms. Nonny Ugboma, said that all projects were selected from a pool of thousands of nominations by members of the public in Phases 1 and 2, after rigorous screening and verification exercises.

“At the end, 200 communities were chosen to benefit in Phase 1, another 200 communities in Phase 2 and announcements were made in the print, electronic and digital media platforms. We are pleased to report that all the 200 projects in Phase 1 have been successfully implemented, while all the 200 projects in Phase 2 are at various stages of delivery and installation” Ms. Ugboma said.

The ‘What Can We Do Together’ initiative that was launched in 2015 as part of the 10-year anniversary commemoration of the MTN Foundation was conceived as an idea to do something refreshingly different for our communities. In view of this, it is structured to allow Nigerians partner with the Foundation by nominating their communities to benefit from select projects.

PoliticsAbundance About To Replace Recession: Osinbajo by actiondrilling(op): 8:27pm On Jun 12, 2017
REMARKS BY AG. PRESIDENT YEMI OSINBAJO, SAN, AT THE SIGNING OF THE 2017 APPROPRIATION BILL INTO LAW ON MONDAY 12TH JUNE 2017 AT THE PRESIDENTIAL VILLA, ABUJA.

A few minutes ago, I signed the 2017 Appropriations Bill into law. This is an important milestone in our economic recovery and Growth plan laid in April by President Muhammadu Buhari.

I would like to express my appreciation to the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, as well as the entire leadership and members of the National Assembly for completing work on the 2017 Appropriation Bill. And I will return to this point presently.

The process of preparing and processing this Bill was much smoother than the 2016 Appropriations Bill. On the executive side, there were no allegations of errors, or mistakes, and there was a significant improvement in the quality of the preparation, as well as the presentation.

I wish to commend the Ministry of Budget and Planning for such a remarkable improvement over a single budget cycle.

On the side of the National Assembly, I wish to commend the collaborative spirit of the engagements our MDAs had with their various committees, and with the leadership, during the budget defence sessions. There were far fewer reported cases of acrimony, or hostile wrangling this year, than in the past.

From the reports we received, the sessions were generally conducted in a friendly atmosphere. There is no doubt that our democracy is maturing.

However, the final presentation and the signing of the budget has been considerably delayed. This was largely due to disagreements we had about the changes introduced to our 2017 Budget proposals by the National Assembly.

The executive took the view that the changes fundamentally affected some of our priority programmes and would make implementation extremely difficult and in some cases impossible.

I must say that the entire leadership of the National Assembly led by the Senate President and the Speaker, adopted a commendably patriotic and statesmanlike approach to our engagements on resolving these critical issues.

In sum, the engagements yielded acceptable results . The most important being that the leadership of the National Assembly has given us a commitment that the National Assembly will re-instate the budgetary allocations for all the important executive projects, such as the railway standard gauge projects, the Mambilla Power Project, the Second Niger Bridge, the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway etc. which they had reduced to fund some of the new projects they introduced.

This re-instatement will be by way of an application for virement by the Executive which they have agreed will be expeditiously considered and approved by the National Assembly.

The leadership of the National Assembly has given us a commitment that the National Assembly will re-instate the budgetary allocations for all the important executive projects, such as the railway standard gauge projects, the Mambilla Power Project, the Second Niger Bridge, the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway etc. which they had reduced to fund some of the new projects they introduced.

It is as a result of that understanding and the outcome of our detailed engagements that we feel able to sign the 2017 Appropriations Bill into law today.

I am also pleased to mention that, in our discussions with the leadership of the National Assembly, we have jointly resolved to return to a predictable January to December fiscal year.

It is a particularly important development because this accords with the financial year of most private sector companies, underscoring the crucial relationship between government and the private sector.

Therefore, on the understanding that we will be submitting the 2018 Budget to the National Assembly by October 2017, the leadership of the National Assembly has committed to working towards the passage of the 2018 Budget into law before the end of 2017. I must, once more, express my appreciation to the leadership of the National Assembly, for the collaborative spirit in which these discussions were conducted.

The 2017 Budget, which I have signed into law today, is christened “Budget of Economic Recovery and Growth” and reflects our commitment to ensure strong linkage between the medium-term Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) recently launched by His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari and the annual budgets.

It is designed to bring the Nigerian economy out of recession unto a path of sustainable and inclusive growth. The budget has a revenue projection of N5.08 trillion and an aggregate expenditure of N7.44 trillion. The projected fiscal deficit of N2.36 trillion is to be financed largely by borrowing.

Let me assure those who have expressed concern about the growing public debt that we are taking several actions to grow government revenues as well as plug revenue leakages. This is because, notwithstanding the fact that our borrowings are still within sustainability limits, we are determined, in the medium term, to reduce our reliance on borrowings to finance our expenditures.

Details of the budget, as approved by the National Assembly, will be made available by the Honourable Minister of Budget and National Planning.

As you are all aware, our economy is already signaling a gradual recovery as growth is headed towards positive territory. First quarter GDP, at -0.52% compares favourably with -2.06% in the first quarter of 2016.

Inflation is declining – down to 17.24% from 18.74% as at May 2016. Our external reserves are now US$30.28 billion as at June 8, 2017 up from US$26.59 billion as at May 31, 2016.

We are also gradually instilling confidence in our exchange rate regime. This improvement in GDP growth and other macro-economic indicators is largely attributable to our strategic implementation of the 2016 Budget as well as stronger macroeconomic management and policy coordination.

I am confident that the 2017 Budget will deliver positive economic growth and prosperity – one that is self-sustaining and inclusive. In this regard, the 2017 budget will be implemented in line with our Economic Recovery and Growth Plan.

Over the 2017-2020 plan period, we are focusing on five (5) key execution priorities, namely:

*Stabilizing the macroeconomic environment;

*Agriculture and Food security;

*Energy sufficiency in power and petroleum products;

*Improved transportation infrastructure; and

*Industrialization through support for micro, small and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs).

The 2017 budget includes provisions that reflect these priorities.

To demonstrate our commitment to following through our Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, the 2017 budget allocates over N2 trillion to capital expenditure, principally infrastructure.

For instance, we are committing over N200 billion to improve transport infrastructure such as roads and rail; over N500 billion for investments in works, power, and housing; and N46 billion for Special Economic Zone Projects to be set up in each geopolitical zone.

The signing of the budget today will trigger activities in the domestic economy which will lead to job creation and more opportunities for employment, especially for our youth. And, as I indicated earlier, we will be returning to the National Assembly to seek upward adjustments by way of virements in relation to a number of critical projects which have received inadequate provision in the budget just passed by the National Assembly.

We acknowledge that government alone cannot achieve the overarching goal of delivering inclusive growth; that is why the 2017 budget provides a lot of opportunities for partnerships with the private sector.

To help the private sector thrive, we are determined to create an enabling business environment. We are already recording verifiable progress across several areas ranging from a new Visa-on-Arrival scheme to reforms at our ports and regulatory agencies.

The Online business registration process has reduced time required for business registration from 10 to 2 days. It is expected that the Executive Order on transparency and efficiency in the business environment will make it even easier for investors to get the permits and licenses they require for their businesses.

Pursuant to our commitments to the Open Government Partnership, we recently issued an Executive Order that will promote budget transparency, accountability and efficiency. We want to make the Federal budget work more efficiently for the people.

Thus, beyond the huge provisions for investments in critical infrastructure, we have mandated Government agencies to spend more of their budgets on locally produced goods. This will open more opportunities for job creation with benefits for government in form of tax revenues.

We are also working hard to improve our revenue collection efficiency so that we can achieve our revenue projections. While we are deploying technological tools to enhance collections, the implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) will continue to contribute significantly to improving transparency and accountability over government revenues.

Our fight against corruption is yielding positive results. Some of the recoveries are included in the 2017 Budget which will be expended on identifiable capital projects.

Already, we are beginning to see some improvement in the quality of public expenditure. This is great motivation for us to remain resolute in our fight against corruption so that economic prosperity is enjoyed by all Nigerians.

Family7 Things Your Husband Hates About You by actiondrilling(op): 4:07pm On Jun 12, 2017
It's a gorgeous day today and I should be in a sparking, dazzling mood, but I'm not. My kids are sick and I just want to nap, but I feel like there's a million and a half things to do. I can't get motivated to do them, so instead of doing anything productive, I decided to ask my husband for a topic to write about.

And lucky for me, he had one just ready at the snap of my wifely fingers. As he lounged on (my!) chair in the office, he ticked off the following list of things that all husbands hate about their wives or partners and asked that I so lovingly share it with all of you. You're welcome.

1. Every time you call yourself fat

No, really. It gets really, really old. All we think about is how beautiful you are, all of the time, and even when we tell you and mean it, you still brush us off. And you know what? That doesn't feel good and eventually, I kind of want to stop telling you anymore. Because you don't believe me when I tell you how beautiful you are. But you are, for the record, really beautiful.

2. How much pressure you put on yourself

You don't need to go to every single school event and you don't need to do everything for the kids. I don't really know how to tell you this in a way that won't hurt your feelings, but you put so much pressure on yourself that doesn't need to be there. You don't need to go to every single school event and you don't need to do everything for the kids. You just don't.

3. How you think you need to be perfect 24/7

When have I ever really been grossed out by you? Think about it. I don't care if you stop shaving or smell bad or whatever. I really don't. Your period stuff does not bother me, I promise. I don't understand why you think you need to be perfect all of the time. It's OK to just be human, you know?

4. How you talk about people online like it's real life

I've seen you get genuinely worked up about something that someone said that you will never, ever meet and I try to understand it, but sometimes I wonder if you forget it's not always real life. I know there are a good parts to social media, but the bad parts are kind of scary.

5. How women are so competitive with each other

Sometimes I wonder why this happened? Did men create this world or did women? Is it nature or something else? Why do women do that thing where they are always silently competing with each other?

6. When you think you're never good enough

You do so much for our family and I am so grateful to you. I feel like you still have this vision in your head that you don't live up to. It feels like no matter how many times I tell you, you still think you should be the one who's cooking or that I care if you clean the house. I like cooking! And I appreciate you cleaning, I really do, but I don't need you do it. I wish you knew how grateful I am for everything you do. I could never do what you do.

7. When you give me that look you're giving me right now

OK, fine, I know, you didn't have a choice about being the one who has to have the babies, I know. So sue me for not being able to give birth. I still couldn't do what you do, honey.

PoliticsReturn Our Oil Blocs, N’delta Militants Tell Fg by actiondrilling(op): 8:36pm On Jun 09, 2017
The coalition of Niger Delta militants on Friday called on the Federal Government to return all oil blocs being controlled by northerners to the people of the region.

The agitators explained that their action was based on the ultimatum given by some northern youth groups to the Igbo to vacate the North within three months.Leaders of the eight militants groups said in a statement that the Niger Delta region shall declare its independence on October 1, 2017 and free itself from enslavement by the North.
The coalition comprises Niger Delta Watchdogs, Niger Delta Volunteers, Niger Delta Peoples Fighters, Niger Delta Warriors, Bakassi Freedom Fighters, Niger Delta Movement for Justice, Niger Delta Fighters Network and Niger Delta Freedom Mandate.
The militant leaders are General John Duku (Niger Delta Watchdogs and Convener: Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators), General Ekpo Ekpo (Niger Delta Volunteers) General Osarolor Nedam (Niger Delta Warriors) and Major-Gen. Henry Okon Etete (Niger Delta Peoples Fighters).
Others are Major-Gen. Asukwo Henshaw (Bakassi Freedom Fighters), Major-Gen. Ibinabo Horsfall (Niger Delta Movement for Justice), Major-Gen. Duke Emmanson (Niger Delta Fighters Network), and Major-Gen. Inibeghe Adams (Niger Delta Freedom Mandate).
In a statement, which was said to have been issued shortly after their meeting in Port Harcourt, the militant leaders warned all companies operating in such oil blocs to vacate within three months.
The group said “A coalition of the Niger Delta militants met today in Port Harcourt to review the recent call by the Arewa Youths groups that the Ndigbo should vacate all the Northern states within three months.“We see the declaration by Arewa Youths as a well consultative declaration which the northern elders, leaders, political elite, security heads from the North and governors were fully aware.
“We demand 100 percent control of our resources. We demand that the Federal Government should hand over all oil blocs owned by the northerners to Niger Delta indigenes. All the companies operating in such oil blocks/wells should vacate within three months.
“The Federal Government should immediately relocate NNPC and all the offices that have to do with oil/gas sector back to Niger Delta states and an immediately replacement of the Group Managing Director with an indigene of Niger Delta.
“All northern indigenes working in NNPC and any other Board that has anything to do with oil/gas should be sack with immediate effect.
“We demand an independent and sovereign Republic of Niger Delta. We are tired of living with the North under Nigeria. We are tired of the President’s sentiments to the Niger Delta people.
“The President can have time to receive the Chibok girls, but could not have time to meet with the Representatives of the Niger Delta agitators. Our money has been used to fund Boko Haram, a problem created by the Northerners in order to use it as conduit pipe to siphon the resources of Niger Delta.
“On October 1, 2017 we shall declare our independence come rain, come shine. We shall take our destiny in our hands and free ourselves from the slavery of the North as they are tired of one Nigeria.”
They maintained that all the companies and businesses owned by the northerners in Niger Delta should be vacated within three months, saying, “From 1st October 2017, we don’t want to see any northerner close to Niger Delta; any attempt to penetrate shall meet fierce resistance. This time, we are not going to play defence, but attack,” the statement by the coalition of Niger Delta agitators read.
They also called on all agitating groups to resume attacks/bombings on all oil/gas pipelines, especially the exporting lines across the Niger Delta region with immediate effect, adding that the measure was aimed at ensuring zero oil/gas production before October 1, 2017.
They said, “We also demand the Federal government should immediately replace the Inspector General of Police with an indigene of the South West, the Director General of DSS with an indigene of South East, and the National Security Adviser with an indigene of South- South.

CelebritiesKrobos Condemn Sarkodie Over 'undignified' Comment In Latest Song by actiondrilling(op): 8:06pm On Jun 09, 2017
The Krobo youth group said it found the words of the rapper a ''deliberate'' and ''calculated'' one aimed at denigrating the Krobos and their gallant women.

The group also said it is at a loss as to how an artiste with impeccable reputation like Sarkodie could stoop that low to make a comment like this.
The Women Organizer of the group, Esther Maseyo Azu said the words of the artiste are insensitive and contribute needlessly to a fabricated myth about krobo women.
The educationist, Esther Azu further argued, '' Every tribe may have a myth, but his [Sarkodie] attempt to commercialize the so-called myth at our expense to make financial gains and profit for himself is where we have the problem."
"This is deliberate. This is calculated. This is unacceptable in this 21st century,'' she said.
She said the group wants ''Sarkodie and his team to know that they will regret for making mockery of us. We have lined up a number of actions to deal ruthlessly with them. We are adopting a number of measures to seek redress.''

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it will decentralize the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to

the Registration (Ward) level in Anambra state from August 10th to 16th.

In a statement by Prince Adedeji Soyebi, INEC's National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, INEC said that this was because of the planned Gubernatorial election coming up in Anambra state on November 17th.
Reacting to this, Anambra state Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, Ogbuefi Tony Nnachetta said that INEC's decision to take the CVR exercise to the ward level is a wonderful opportunity Ndi Anambra should take advantage of, especially those who would not have registered by then. He however called on Ndi Anambra not to wait until August when the CVR will come to their wards but to go out now and register. "It is our civic responsibility as proud Ndi Anambra to participate in the electoral process, that way, we will all collectively have a say on who will govern Anambra state. This is the message our Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has been preaching, that Anambra belongs to us all, therefore we must not allow anybody to intimidate us. The only way to support the ongoing Anambra renaissance is to register to vote, and to vote for the hardworking Governor, Willie Obiano".

HealthAlbinos Get New Body Parts After Witch Doctors Limb Attack by actiondrilling(op): 9:12am On Jun 08, 2017
Emmanuel Rutema, one of four Tanzanian children with albinism visiting the United States to get prosthetic limbs to replace those hacked off in brutal superstition-driven attacks in their East African homeland is excited to test out his new arm.

At Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia on Tuesday three of them got the new limbs that will help them do everyday tasks most people take for granted.
Rutema, the oldest at 15, speaks with difficulty. His attackers chopped off one arm and the fingers of the other hand and tried to pull out his tongue and teeth.
Also getting prosthetics were Baraka Lusambo, 7, and Mwigulu Magesa, 14, each of whom lost parts of their arms in attacks.
People with albinism live in danger in Tanzania where their body parts are used in witchcraft and can fetch a high price. Superstition leads many to believe they are ghosts and bad luck.
Albinism is a congenital disorder affecting about one in 20,000 people worldwide who lack pigment in their skin, hair and eyes, but it is more common in sub-Saharan Africa and affects about one Tanzanian in 1,400.
The Tanzanian children are getting treatment in the United States with support from the Global Medical Relief Fund (GMRF), a New York-based charity that hosts children from around the world who have been injured in conflict or disaster.
Elissa Montanti, founder of GMRF, called the children from Tanzania “gentle souls.”
“When they come here, they have lost so much. They have lost part of their youth and part of their dignity,” Montanti told the Thomson Reuters Foundation at the Philadelphia hospital.
“We put them back together. When they go back, they have a stronger sense of empowerment. I see such a difference.”
For these children, this is the second trip to the United States for prosthetics and they leave next week.
They first came two years ago and they have returned for larger limbs because they have grown. They could return again for larger equipment.
Their new arms are attached with shoulder harnesses, and the elbows and fingers are controlled with cables.
Within minutes, Lusambo, the youngest, was clowning around, using his new hand to erect a tower of plastic building blocks and chomping on a candy lollipop.
Magesa was more serious and stood stiffly as the prosthetist tugged at his harness straps and tightened its buckles.
Asked what he would be doing at home in Tanzania with his new arm, he said: “Washing clothes.”
The children attend boarding school and live in so-called safe houses in Tanzania. They rarely go out in public because it frightens them and could put them in danger, said Ester Rwela, a social worker with the charity Under the Same Sun who came with them to the United States.
United Nations officials estimate at least 75 albinos were killed in the east African nation between 2000 and 2015 but fear the number of reported attacks represent just a fraction of the total as most are secretive rituals in rural areas.
Under the Same Sun runs a public awareness campaign to dispel notions that the bodies of people with albinism have special powers or should be sacrificed for their limbs.
Superstition holds that having a piece of a person with albinism can bring luck finding a well-stocked fishing site or a plentiful gold mine or bring a victory in politics, Rwela said.
“What we are fighting with is the mind-set of the people,” she said.
“When a witch doctor says, ‘Bring me a part of an albino and you will be successful,’ they go and do it. Someone can be educated, but they believe in superstition to be successful.”
