The students were released by their abductors on July 23, more than 60 days after being abducted at their school, Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, Epe, . . The students – Judah Agbaosi, Faruq Yusuf, Isoaka Ramon and Peter Jonah – were in high spirits when a team of the Lagos State Ministry of Education led by the permanent Secretary Mr. Adesina Odeyemi, visited the school on Tuesday. . . Agbaosi, who spoke with journalists, said the students have put the ugly incident behind them and are happy to be back in school. “I resumed yesterday (Monday) and feel very happy to be back. I can tell you that I’m very okay and know that nothing bad will happen again.” . . He said the school management had put adequate security and other measures in place to boost their confidence as they settle down for learning. . . When asked if he would change school if given the opportunity, he said: “I will not because I really like the standard here. Besides the school encourages student to have relationship with the teachers.” : TheNation. source:http://www.pressnewsng.com.ng/2017/09/4-out-of-6-abducted-lagos-students.html

UK based actress, Wumi Olabimtan, said this during a chat with Vanguardngr. The actress affirmed that sex is a very important thing in a marriage, saying, couples should endeavour to study each other and have a sex schedule. . According to her: “Actually, a man’s libido determines the sex routine in a marriage. But that doesn’t mean the woman cannot initiate it. She can do it by not asking but by body language which the man is sure to understand.” . When she was asked what she would do if her husband suddenly becomes irreversibly impotent, the actress, admitted it would be a pill very hard to swallow. “Irreversible impotency in a marriage is a temptation and we need a divine grace to overcome such a temptation. . Sex is fuel in a marriage, and when fuel is low or dries off, the marriage car stops, which means the marriage will suffer. It will only take divine intervention to sustain both parties, because sex is fuel and has a spirit of its own,” she added. source:http://www.pressnewsng.com.ng/2017/09/sex-is-fuel-in-marriage-and-when-it.html

Two Boko Haram commanders and deputies to Abubakar Shekau, a factional leader of the terrorist’s group, were killed in successful military operations at Alafa in Borno on Sallah day. Army spokesman, Brig.-Gen Sani Usman, in a statement, said that Shekau deputies that were killed in the onslaught included Afdu Kawuri and Abubakar Banishek. “This is in addition to Ba’Abba Ibrahim and two other Boko Haram commanders that died after sustaining injuries during their last ambush at Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno,” he added. Five other key leaders of the group and close associates of Shekau were neutralised in a joint bombardment in August. Usman described Shekau’s latest video in which he taunted the army as an act of desperation and lies by remnants of the insurgents to instil unnecessary fear in law abiding citizens. In the video, the group denied the killing of its five key commanders and claimed it had wonderful Sallah celebration in the Sambisa forest. “We wish to challenge the so-called terrorist leader to produce the five key commanders earlier killed or the video of those Ameers he claimed not dead and are still with him. “It is also instructive to note that Shekau is scared and rattled by the 40-day ultimatum issued by the Chief of Army Staff to Operation LAFIYA DOLE to fish him out,’’ Usman said. The Osun State Police Command has arrested an herbalist, Adeniyi Adeyeye, with a suspected human skull at Moro, in the Ife North Local Government Area. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye, said on Tuesday that Adeyeye was arrested in Ipetumodu following a tip-off. Adeoye said, “We are still still investigating. He will be charged to court soon.” The suspect initially told PUNCH Metro that one Akin, who was living in his house, brought the skull and he (Adeyeye) sent him packing because of that. He said he was surprised that policemen arrested him because of the skull. Adeyeye later changed his story when he was accused of wanting to use the skull for money ritual for a client. While denying the ownership of the skull, he admitted telling the client that money ritual must involve the use of human parts. The police also paraded another herbalist, Babatunde Awolola, and one Ademola. Thirty-nine-year-old Awolola was arrested in the Iwo area with two suspected human hands. Awolola said he bought the hands from one Olakanmi for N10,000, adding that Ademola, a commercial motorcycle rider, did not know the content of the bag. He explained that the two hands were got from corpses in a graveyard. He said, “I am an herbalist. I bought the hands from Olakanmi for N10,000. I buy other human parts from him also. The hands were got from a corpse.” source:http://www.pressnewsng.com.ng/2017/09/command-arrests-two-herbalists-with.html

if the house of reps can vote in the devolution of power from the fg, they have my support. restructuring is the way forward. |

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Lasun Yusuf, has said the lower legislative chamber of the National Assembly will revisit the issue of devolution of power, an aspect of the constitution amendment. The Senate and the House of Representatives had earlier voted against devolution of power but the deputy speaker explained that the lawmakers, who voted against devolution of power at the two chambers, were in the minority. Lasun said this in an interview with journalists in Ilobu, his home town in Osun State on Saturday during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. He stated that those who voted for devolution of power would have won if simple majority vote had been adopted to determine the approval or rejection, saying 220 Reps voted for its approval. He said the 240 votes needed to approve the proposal fell short by 20 votes, adding that the amendment also failed by the same narrow margin at the Senate. The deputy speaker explained that the majority of the lawmakers were in support of devolution of power, blaming the lack of interest of the members of the public for the failure of the amendment. He argued that the lawmakers, who voted against the provision, did so because their constituents did not instruct them to support it during the public hearings. Lasun added, “Those who don’t want devolution of power are in the minority. “We would have won if it was by simple majority. Someone asked me why I am supporting devolution of power when I know that I am contesting to be governor in my state and I told him that I am not contesting to sit over the local government money. States will be relieved of burden once the local governments have more power. “Devolution of power failed because members of the public did not show interest in what we were doing. If they did, they would have discouraged those lawmakers, who voted against it, from doing that. “But the good news is that we will revisit it when we resume. We are going back to it when we resume.” Lasun said he was more concerned with the incessant traffic caused by the narrow bridge linking Ilobu with Osogbo, the Osun State capital, and Ogbomoso in Oyo State. He pointed out that the gridlock informed the decision to award the contract for the construction of a new bridge, valued at N584m, which was captured in the 2016 budget. Lasun said the same contract was listed in the 2017 budget because the contractor handling the project had just been mobilised by 15 per cent. He explained that the N1bn listed in the 2017 budget was for the bridge and the construction of the road which is about 28 kilometres from Osogbo to Ilajue, which is the boundary with Oyo State. The deputy speaker stated that he was contesting the state governorship because he wanted to salvage the bad situation in the state. Lasun argued that if competent persons shunned the post, the bad situation would degenerate because the charlatans would compound the issues on the ground. “No matter the situation on the ground in the state, it can be salvaged and I am ready to salvage it,” he added. The deputy speaker stated that he would focus on agriculture, education, health and vocational skills acquisition to reposition the economy of the state if voted into power. source:http://www.pressnewsng.com.ng/2017/09/reps-will-revisit-restructuring-says.html
