Well ntel has been good and really cheap so far....this is my speed on download o(using adm)...speed usually better with playstore...also noticed that speed is good downloading via mega

Nah, I've not, as I was about clicking unlock, na so I see warning that e go clear my data, not ready for that, as I just downloaded some crazy games, like MC5, PUBG, Asphalt, etc, going to 15gb, I'm yet to back up.
But I was able to install drivers and when I boot into fastboot and signed onto the unlock app on my pc, it detected my phone and d unlock key was click-able, I'll do it after backing up my data.

Lol i always keep my games on pc...i know myself....since buying, my internal memory has been wiped 3 times

Thats the file...to install it(from my memory so might not be accurate so )
Right click on the windows start icon, go to device manager,right click on your desktop name, click on add legacy device,click on browse files on local disk, click "have disk", locate the folder the file is, select, install.....

Miui ram management is too aggressive for my liking, on my Redmi Note 5 4gb/64 I will just open a few apps only to come back and meet them closed. My 3 yr old Asus ZenFone 2 4gb/32 memory management is far better.

Its a problem with their old rom...the leaked global 9.5.6 rom is incredible.....you can actually turn off battery saver that stops the apps killing.. Try get the leaked version if your BL is unlocked or miuipro 9.5.6 global...both have superb memory management

Alright Bro, tried with my system, seems some important drivers are missing, I'm guessing I'll use a friend's system or look for drivers online.

Check the flashtool folder...youll see a driver folder, inside is a .inf file, i hope you know how to install it?

Dont...just download the mi unlock tool, log in your mi account and unlock...its only for note 5 pro...... remember...dont bind the account with the device

Miui is good ui wise...infact i would stay on it if it had good memory management.hope miui 10 fixes it sha.

mine is omnirom. I only use miui for 3 days to unlock bootloader. Some of us love stock android, miui and stock android are like opposite worlds

Omni rom is very good too...they have delta updates...now switched to note 5 which have two aosp roms(rr and los) so far lol...

Note 5 is a great phone, played asphalt 8 while running WhatsApp simultaneously on 3g for like 2 hours. Just 15% battery drop.
And yes it plays those HD games flawlessly, so far, I've tried asphalt 8, MC5, injustice 2, and PUBG (the boring overhyped game)
