Atiku assures 40% youths, women inclusion in government positions

The Presidential candidate of (PDP) Atiku Ababakar has assured Nigerian youths of his commitment to enthroning an enduring legacy to them, if he is entrusted with the mandate to preside over the affairs of the country. He reaffirmed his commitment as contained in his policy document to the 40 percent inclusion of women and youths in government positions if elected even as he noted that with the 35% affirmative action on women as contained in the Beijing Conference document, that he would make the needed adjustment to accommodate the youth and the women segments of our population.

The Wazirin Adamawa also recalled that it was only in the PDP era that the 35percent affirmative action plan on women was implemented in the country and that the APC administration never honoured that policy.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has said it is unfortunate that his convoy was attacked in Maiduguri, Borno State despite the fact that candidates have signed a peace accord.

He said the act was a violation of the peace accord signed by candidates as proposed by the National Peace Committee.

He said this when he visited the former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida on Friday.

He said they were in Minna to pay respect to General Babangida for the services he rendered to Nigeria, and they would continue to come for blessings.

He believes that “Nigeria’s unity has never been so threatened like it is now,” adding that “increasing number of Nigerian citizens openly challenge their allegiance to Nigeria’s corporate existence through violent agitations and misguided demands for ethno-regional autonomy because of widespread feelings of marginalisation and neglect.”

A key component of the policy aims at improving and strengthening the education system and equipping students with all necessary skills needed to be competitive in the new global order which is driven by innovation, science, and technology.
