Seyi Makinde’s Fate Hangs in the Balance over Opposition to Atiku Abubakar Member of the G-5 Group of the Peoples Democratic Party, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, may be in for a big challenge for second term over his refusal to support the presidential candidate of PDP, Atiku Abubakar For political observers in the state the events of last week which culminated in prominent elders and members of the party coming out openly to declare their support for Atiku and does not be on the same page with Makinde with the presidential elections just few weeks away may have set a stage for confrontation against the governor who himself will be on the ballot for the second time during the March 11, 2023 governorship poll. The political drama which exposed that Governor Makinde was threading on a dangerous past began last Tuesday when loyalists of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in the state, led by a former Minister of Mines and Steel, Elder Wole Oyelese, converged at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, where they declared their intention to stage a walk in support of Atiku the following day (Wednesday). #AtikuOrganizingForAction

Suspected Herdsmen Kidnap Scores At Edo state Train Station, Many Injured Atiku Abubakar opined the following The attack on a train station in Igueben LGA of Edo State, during which armed men kidnapped an undetermined number of people, is the latest in a long condemnable line of security breaches previously unseen in our national history. While we pray, it is important also to point out that this serves as the latest reminder of the urgent need to reform our security architecture to better safeguard the lives and properties of Nigerian citizens. We can do this by doing the following to mitigates these attacks and other security challenges facing our nation. 1. Amending our constitution to allow for state and community policing as a first line of security. 2. Modify our security apparatus to pay a greater premium to INTELLIGENCE GATHERING and crime prevention than our current reactive approach. 3. Deploy technology toward tracking these terrorists and degrading their existing capacity to attack our people across the country. 4. Apply the diplomatic pressures needed to stem the free flow of light arms and assault weapons across the West African sub-region and our borders. By doing this, we will severely restrict the capacity for terrorists to re-arm themselves to execute attacks. 5. Greatly reducing the numbers of out-of-school children on our streets and improving the economy to create jobs for vast numbers of unemployed Nigerians, thereby reducing the pool from which these terrorists recruit people for their nefarious activities. I firmly believe that these actions will go a long way towards reducing incidents of insecurity and providing the secure environment needed for economic growth. #AtikiOrganizingForAction.

Awa Ibom APC leaders secretly working for Atiku Abubakar – Godswill Akpabio The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has knocked APC leaders in the state who he said are secretly working for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar. According to Akpabio, the APC leaders are “shouting Asiwaju in the day and PDP in the night.” He said this in the Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of the state, where he reportedly received the leadership of 250 presidential support groups for the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu. He accused such disloyal APC leaders in Akwa Ibom as working to destabilise the party. This was according to a statement on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Jackson Udom. The statement quoted Akpabio to have said, “I am highly elated with these groups. I am even more elated that you have all resolved to work for the success of our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and all other candidates of the party from your different polling units and wards. “These groups, to me, are the real deal. I see you people as those who are real and committed. You didn’t force me to be here. I only came to see. I have seen and I am satisfied. #AtikuOrganizingForAction

Why Atiku Abubakar is so popular in Oyo state – Reno Omokri Former aide to ex president Goodluck Jonathan, Pastor Reno Omokri, has given reasons the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, is so popular in Oyo State. The Waziri of Adamawa is popular in Oyo state because of the “lifetime of service to all Nigerians irrespective of region and religion.” He said the Oyo people could not be stopped from echoing Atiku’s name during a campaign rally in the state when Rivers State governor wanted to drown their Atiku chants with music. “Day 88 of #WhyShouldIVoteAtiku: Vote for Waziri Atiku Abubakar because he is for the Nigerian people, and the Nigerian people are for him. That is why Governor Wike and his Personal Assistants, who call themselves Governors, could not convince Ibadan people not to vote for Atiku. To their utter surprise, shame and confusion, when they shouted PDP, the Ibadan crowd spontaneously shouted Atiku, Atiku, Atiku. They tried to play some music, but the crowd crescendoed Atiku, Atiku, Atiku. And Wike went back to Port Harcourt knowing that Ibadan people never bow to dictators. But, ask yourself why Waziri Atiku is so popular in Oyo State. It is because of a lifetime of service to all Nigerians irrespective of region and religion. #AtikuOrganizingForAction

PDP hails Oyo people for voicing support for Atiku The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the party supporters and the people of Oyo State for their support for its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar and all other Candidates of the Party contesting for elective offices in the 2023 general elections. The party specifically commended what it called the tenacity of its members and supporters in Oyo State for expressing their support for Atiku Abubakar at the flag-off of the PDP Governorship Campaign in Oyo State on Thursday, January 5, 2023, in defiance of attempts to dictate their electoral preference. This was contained in a statement signed signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, in Abuja, on Friday. He said, “The overwhelming chanting of “Atiku! Atiku!” by the resilient crowd in rejection of a request that they follow the dictate of some individuals in the Presidential election summarily conveyed, in one voice, their unnegotiable resolve to vote Atiku Abubakar as the next President of our country. “The people of Oyo State as independent-minded and political savvy have again demonstrated their sobriquet as Pace-setter in the politics of Nigeria by establishing that power lies in the Will of the people and not the endorsement or dictate of any person or group of persons. “Unambiguously, the expression of the people of Oyo State at the flag-off event firmly signposts and reaffirms the support of the South West Geo-Political Zone for Atiku Abubakar and all our candidates in the South West and across the country.

Atiku’s Campaign: Wike Dancing Like Village Masquerade The campaign office of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, yesterday described the recent outbursts by Governor of Rivers state, Mr. Nyesom Wike, as a man dancing like a village masquerade. In recent months, Wike has taken out time to attack Atiku, who defeated him during the PDP presidential primaries. In a statement tagged: “Wike’s Nonsensical Gaffe,” the Special Assistant, Public Communication to Atiku, Phrank Shaibu, quoting Proverbs 14:17 in the Holy Bible, said this perhaps explains why a governor who was once a shining light in his party has thrown caution to the wind and has become a laughing stock. “Everyday, Wike dances like a village masquerade on live television, entertaining Nigerians with the same boring moves. He acts like a failed Tik Tok comedian desperately trying to amuse Nigerians with the same platitudes just because he lost the primary and also failed to emerge as the vice presidential candidate of the PDP. “His constant weeping is like the blubbering of an infant taken off his mother’s breast. Wike’s cacophonous cry of hurt and inconsolable thrashing will never end even if the proverbial breast is put back in his mouth,” the PDP candidate’s campaign said. Atiku stated if anyone wants to understand the true meaning of bitterness and anger, they should watch out for Wike each time he spends tax payers monies on his live broadcasts. At every turn of event, Atiku’s campaign maintained that Wike comes forth with new episodes of his dramatic performances, noting that what is common to all his acts is that his vile verbiage and intemperate vituperations are symptomatic of a pathetically disruptive mind with a deep character flaw.

They vowed to deploy every arsenal in their political armoury to ensure Atiku sweeps the polls in the entire LGA. According to them, party is supreme in everything, hence they have no option than to support the party’s flag bearer as loyal party faithful. ‘I will lead Nigeria out of darkness’ — Atiku Abubakar speaks on plans for power sector Having keenly observed developments in the power sector I am again convinced that my solution to the electricity crisis, as encapsulated in my policy, document, ‘my covenant with Nigerians’, remains the most proactive plan to lead Nigeria out of darkness,” “In this regard, my approach is to first remove the entire electricity value chain from the exclusive list and give states the power to generate, transmit and distribute electricity for themselves. “An industrial dispute with the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT in Abuja should not affect an industry in Lagos or a factory in Aba or in Kano or even an average Nigerian who just wants to get home, watch the news and sleep under a ceiling fan. “Secondly, my policy shall aim at achieving greater coordination of investments in the entire electricity value chain. “Investments in additional generation capacity are futile without consideration for the complementary transmission and distribution infrastructure to wheel the additional energy. “Any investment in additional generation capacity would be competitively procured considering a viable mix of renewable (hydro, solar, wind and biofuels) and non-renewable (coal, gas) options for energy security. “Thirdly, ahead of procuring additional generation, both transmission and distribution capacities would be enhanced with government and private sector support for investments. “In this regard, we shall incentivise private investors to invest in the development of multiple green-field mini-grid transmission systems to be looped into the super-grip in the medium to long term while allowing the FG to focus on policy, regulation, and standardisation. #AtikiOrganizingForAction

God ‘ll determine next president not G-5 Govs – Okowa Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta and Vice Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),on Friday said God would determine Nigeria’s next President and not the action of G-5 governors. Why G5 governors must sheathe swords and support Atiku " Shehu Sani President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria (CRCN), Sen. Shehu Sani, has urged the G5 governors to sheathe their swords and support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to win the 2023 election. The G5, led by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, comprises Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie ikpeazu (Abia) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu). They fell out with Atiku for backtracking on an agreement over zoning of the party’s presidential ticket and national chairmanship. In an interview with The Guardian in Kaduna, the PDP chieftain asserted that if, in the next two weeks, the prolonged face-off between the five governors and Atiku is not resolved, it will never be resolved. According to Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the Senate from June 2015 and June 2019, the political squabbles between the PDP G5 governors and Atiku has dragged for a long time, pointing out that it is time all the parties in the dispute ended the political crisis to pave way for PDP’s victory in next year’s elections. The human rights activist told The Guardian the G5 governors risk political suicide, if they declare their support for another party in 2023, noting that the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t. He said: “The G5 governors should sheathe their swords and support Atiku Abubakar. Better the devil they know than the devil they don’t. Whereever they go, they are going to be strangers, and whoever wins other than Atiku would not take them as priority over the people who are already there. “Politicians don’t respect accord. One thing the G5 governors should know is that if any candidate, other than the one from their party, wins the presidency, it is impossible for their candidates in the Senate, House of Representatives, Houses of Assembly and even governorship to win elections.” He warned them to be careful and know that nobody could protect and secure them other than the presidential candidate of their own party. While Wike had said he would disclose his preferred presidential candidate in January, the G5 governors are in London, probably to agree on whom to support for the country’s number one seat. Sani added: “Once they endorse a candidate, the room for reconciliation has already closed. Another thing is that they can never be sure that the people of their states would vote for the candidate recommended outside their party, based on the fact that, apart from Makinde, they are all outgoing. “What they should also know is that it is not about the presidential candidate of APC, Bola Tinubu; but people who surround Tinubu. Do they think that the Northern governors (who stepped down for him) would allow Tinubu to make them, G5 governors, a priority?”

Parents Should Be Forced To Send Their Children To School – Atiku Abubakar Atiku Abubakar The PDP presidential candidate says education is significant to the development and security of any country as a result parents to ensure their children are educated, even at the basic level to have a peaceful society. “We persuade parents to vaccinate their children against infectious diseases because vaccination is a good thing; why don’t we do the same for education?” he queried. “Parents should be persuaded, even forced, to send their children to school so they, at least, acquire basic education. That basic education should be free and compulsory. “Why does it seem like the importance of education for a society such as ours is so difficult for some to understand? Why do we seem reluctant to the idea of providing good quality basic education for all our people? “Why can’t we see that the neglect of education for our people has huge long-term consequences which have become obvious already as our country is engulfed in security challenges across its length and breadth?” #AtikuOrganizingForAction

No matter your poor background, PDP and I will give you opportunities - Atiku Abubakar Atiku says if elected, his administration will create an enabling environment for youths to thrive. He said the (APC) will be voted out of government in the 2023 general election because they have “dashed the hopes of Nigerians”. He said he played a significant role in the “fight” to sustain Nigeria’s democracy, adding that it is the reason “youths are enjoying their freedom of today”. “To be honest, PDP is the only political party. APC is not a political party; it is an alliance of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and Tinubu’s party. It is an alliance.
