Atiku Abubakar tips to win in close race Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is likely to emerge the winner of the closely contested election scheduled to hold on February 25, according to a new poll conducted by POLAF, a not-for-profit organisation.. The results of the poll, which was conducted between July 2022 and February 2023, rule out the possibility of a run-off. On the methodology used for the poll, the organisation said three states were selected in each geopolitical zone, with an extra state selected from the South-South and South-West to make the number of states from which samples were drawn 20 out of 36 plus the Federal Capital Territory. It said the sample was drawn from the voter register of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), adding that 3,123,660 respondents across 165 local government areas were contacted via telephone and were spoken to in English and any other native language they were most comfortable speaking in. The poll report stated clearly that things may change before and on election day. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has made significant inroads into the Middle Belt and other strongholds of PDP – a development that has been confirmed by other polls. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State recently endorsed Obi. Most of the polls released so far have tipped Obi to win the election. He was predicted as the winner in all the three polls commissioned by the ANAP Foundation and conducted by NOI Polls Limited. Some have questioned if there is enough data to support an Atiku win. A person who knows about the POLAF poll but chose to speak anonymously said: “Obi has garnered most of the PDP base.” In the POLAF poll, Atiku secured 38 percent to emerge as the preferred candidate, followed by Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who got 29 percent, while Obi secured 27 percent to take the third position. Rabiu Kwakwanso of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) is a distant fourth with only 5 percent of the total votes. The survey also projects that the PDP and the APC are the only two parties to comfortably secure the constitutionally required 25 percent across 24 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The LP and the NNPP are seen to be struggling in this regard. #AtikuOrganizingForAction

My fellow citizens. Today we urge us all to remain law abiding in the face of the hardships currently facing us as Nigerians. We have the right to speak out against injustice and express our views, but we must do so responsibly. We must ensure that our actions do not cross the line into violence or destruction of property. There is no greater power than voting for the right candidate to recover our beloved nation. This is the only solution to the problems. I remains committed to my 5-point development agenda of recovering Nigeria. By voting me a man with experience, you make a powerful statement about doing your part to recover Nigeria and keep it safe for us all. Atiku Abubakar #AtikuOrganizingForAction

Northern APC govs supporting Tinubu but electorate will vote Atiku – Akinjide, ex-FCT Minister A former minister of state for FCT and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Chief Jumoke Akinjide has described the support enjoyed in the northern part of the country by the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as that of the governors in his party alone. According to her, the electorate in the North will vote for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP instead. Akinjide, in an interview with Sunday Tribune, underscored the chances of the PDP’s Atiku Abubakar in the forthcoming election and the possibility of the Northern electorate seeing Tinubu as a benefactor. “I don’t think so. The North-East, for example, is solidly behind their candidate because they have never had the presidency. And if El-Rufai thinks that the North owes Tinubu, I think the North-West also feels it owes the North-East because every president has come from the North-West, whether it is Shehu Shagari or Umar Yar’Adua or even Buhari. “I think the people in the North are supporting Atiku. The governors may be supporting Tinubu. At the end of the day, it is the people’s will that will prevail,” she said. #AtikuOrganizingForAction

How Atiku Abubakar will defeat Tinubu, Obi – Dele Momodu For the second time in less than a week, Dele Momodu, the Director of Strategic Communications of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council, has said the party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will be elected President of Nigeria in the next month’s election. For the second time in less than a week, Dele Momodu has said the party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will be elected President of Nigeria in the next month’s election. Momodu said a presidential candidate cannot depend totally on votes from outside his home base to win this election. It is a fact of history that whenever the South produced two strong candidates, the dominant northern candidate won, such as in 1979 and 1983, Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikiwe versus Shehu Shagari. #AtikuOrganizingForAction

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday advised Nigerians to cause another change in leadership following what he observed as the disappointment the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has become in office. Speaking to a crowd of supporters in Minna, Niger State, he reminded the people that their desire for change led them to vote for APC in previous elections, but noted that since they did not get what they expected from the ruling party, the February 25 election presents them a good opportunity to replace the government. He promised that if they vote for PDP, his administration will restore security to the beleaguered state. The former vice president also said his administration will revisit the Baro Port, which was initiated under the previous PDP government. Addressing the supporters, Atiku stated: “We want to appreciate the people of Niger for their support since we came to the state. May God bless you all. We pray that God brings peace to the state. “You know that only PDP can bring peace to Niger. When PDP was in power from 1999 to 2015 was there insecurity in Niger? We want to assure you that if you return to PDP, we will eliminate insecurity in Niger. “We also assure you that the Baro Port that the PDP first constructed before you demanded for change, now have you seen the change? What did the change bring? Insecurity, hardship, and economic meltdown. https://tribuneonlineng.com/after-apcs-disappointment-is-time-for-another-change-atiku/

Presidency: Northern group urges Kwankwaso to withdraw for Atiku Abubakar A Northern group known as the Northern Liberal Democratic Movement (NLDM) has called on the presidential candidate of the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso to withdraw from the race for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. According to the group, the mood and opinion of stakeholders in the region and the country were in favour of Atiku who it stated was in a better position to win the contest irrespective of the former governor Kano’s decision. This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Abuja by the National Secretary of the movement, Hon Balarabe Ali Bello on Thursday. In the statement, Bello stated that apart from the mood of the people of the region, the current reality is prompting scores of many chieftains and members of the NNPP to dump the party for the PDP across the region in anticipation of a likely Atiku victory in February. The NNPP has in the last few weeks lost its chieftains to the PDP with the recent being the Deputy Governorship Candidates of the party in Niger and Yobe State, so also the state chairman of the party in Kaduna and the Zonal secretary of the party in the North East zone. Obi vs Atiku Abubakar: Ndigbo’s conundrum in February’s presidential poll. By Olu Fasan A Tinubu presidency would be catastrophic for Ndigbo, keeping them longer in the political wilderness. Therefore, it would be unpardonable if voting for Obi translated into Tinubu’s victory. So, Igbos, think dispassionately, act strategically! An Atiku presidency is the surest, shortest route to an Igbo presidency. So, what should be Ndigbo’s strategic response? They should vote massively for Obi if they believe he can win. However, if their ANALYSIS and INTELLIGENCE show that Obi can’t win, they should vote MASSIVELY for ATIKU. Make no mistake. The Igbos would, rightly, question whether they are, de facto, part of Nigeria. That would push this country to the brink of disintegration. By contrast, an albeit second-best, victory for Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate, would shorten the Igbos’ route to the presidency. After eight years in power – what would stop him?—it’s almost certain that a President Atiku would support an Igbo to succeed him. Thus, if not Obi, an Atiku presidency is the surest, shortest route to an Igbo presidency. So, what should be Ndigbo’s strategic response? They should vote massively for Obi if they believe he can win in the first ballot or be a candidate for a rerun. However, if their analysis and intelligence show that Obi can’t win in the first ballot or in a rerun, they should vote massively for Atiku. Make no mistake. A Tinubu presidency would be catastrophic for Ndigbo, keeping them longer in the political wilderness. Therefore, it would be unpardonable if voting for Obi translated into Tinubu’s victory. So, Igbos, think dispassionately, act strategically!

Anambra People Asks Obi To Step Down For Atiku Abubakar People is Anambra State has advised the Labour Party (LP), presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi to step down for their principal, Atiku Abubakar and his running-mate, Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa. Saying that the easiest and most reliable option for an Igbo person to become president of Nigeria was for Igbo to align with the Atiku-Okowa presidency. They advised all supporters of Obi and Labour Party in the South East to decamp to PDP and support the emergence of Atiku as president of Nigeria come February 25. The people of Anambra State have already demonstrated their massive support for Atiku stating that the turn out of the people when he came for his campaign rally in the state December last year at Alex Ekwueme square, Awka, the state capital was a clear demonstration that the people love him. Emphasising that it would amount to a wrong political decision by the people of South East to support Obi, “No region would wish to align itself with any candidate who doesn’t have a chance on his home soil and commands at least 60 percent of the electorate such has never been the case in our politics and democracy.” #AtikuOrganizingForAction

‘Soaked Sliced Bread’: ‘Tinubu Hatred For Igbos Taken Too Far, APC Dislikes South-East Region’ A coalition of pan-Igbo sociopolitical pressure organisations, the South East Revival Group (SERG) has described the “soaked sliced bread” statement made by the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as taking deep seated hatred for the Igbos too far. Naija News reports that Tinubu, while speaking at the APC campaign rally in Enugu, had urged the South East region to “work hard, sweat for this party until they deliver victory for him”, adding, “But nobody will give you any credit, you are working hard, you’re sweating now. We want you to sweat well now for this party until you deliver victory. “Until Bola Tinubu becomes the president of Nigeria, we will not give you but a soaked sliced bread.” Reacting to the comments made by the APC presidential candidate, the SERG in a statement on Thursday signed by its President and National Coordinator, Chief Willy Ezugwu, said Tinubu’s statement is beyond a mere insult as some would be made to believe. He said “the insinuation that Igbos will languish in longer marginalisation unless Tinubu becomes President is an acknowledgement that the APC deliberately schemed the South East region since 2015. “Tinubu’s comments represent refreshed version of President Muhammadu Buhari’s comment that he would not treat the South East equally with the Northern region that voted for him.” The group claimed that these comments by the APC presidential candidate was an expression of the party’s disdain for the South East region. Religious Bigot Ezugwu recalled that several sources have revealed that in build up to the APC presidential primary election, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as an aspirant boycotted South East delegates of his party, saying that campaigning in the South East was a waste of time. He added that Tmtrue to his words, Tinubu never wasted his time reaching out to his party’s delegates in the region, yet they voted massively for him either by ‘hook or by crook.’ The SERG said: “It is taking his disregard for the South East too far. “When his anointed Governor, Babajide Raji Fashola deported Igbos from Lagos State and dumped them at the Onitsha Bridge Head in the middle of the night, where was Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu? “When his ally and the Oba of Lagos threatened Igbos to drown in the lagoon if they voted against his preferred candidate, where was Tinubu’s voice as a democrat? “A Tinubu presidency will be a disaster as he has continued to exhibit the distinguishing characteristics of not only a civilian dictator but also a religious bigot masquerading as a liberal Muslim. “His choice of a Muslim running is a deliberate expression his real self as having no regard for Christians and now he blew the final whistle that signalled the climax of his hatred for the South East region. “We also monited a report indicating that the Tinubu’s hatred for the South East also robbed off on the traditional institution as some highly embarrassed Enugu traditional rulers led by the State Chairman of the Traditional Rulers’ Council, Igwe Lawrence Agubuzo were snubbed, disrespected and insulted by the APC Presidential candidate after waiting for several hours for his arrival. “Can Tinubu openly snub an Oba in the South West or an Emir in the North?” |
