Gadafii:
[s] America spent trillions of dollar human and equipment in Afghanistan, 20 years of efforts just to replace one taliban with another taliban, it took these rag tag talibans just 24 hours to over run the govt backed by the United stars [/s]
US got the intelligence that Russia will be invading Ukraine using the phrase "special operation" to eradicate the Nazis government from Ukraine and would make reference to US's special operation in Afghanistan should the US try to stop them. Guess what, the US without proper plan left Afghanistan in the hope that it will discourage Putin from invading Ukraine. They were now very bold and loud to counter Russia with threats but Putin still went ahead with his special operation.

they have sent equipment worths billions of dollar to Ukraine, where has that gotten Ukraine to today?
Ukraine is still standing. Without them, Ukraine would have been under Russian control in 24 hours since February last year, 2022. But with their backing, Ukraine is still a nation with their president all fighting Russia like terrorists.

How is Niger going to be different, ?
Niger is Africa. Don't expect them to pamper you like they're pampering Putin. Secondly, Putin under a democratic Russian government cannot declare support for a coup and that's already a weakness even if he uses his backdoor Wagner Group. Private armies can't pull much weight without an all out support from its government.

Many of you seems not to realize that the hardest of war is one againts the civilians, check what happened in Vietnam, once the people are in support of the junta like the case of Niger, there is little or nothing ecowas of the western block can do
Again, this is Africa. Anything is possible. Secondly, a 30,000 people protesting in Niger is not the voice of all Niger. Bazoum has his supporters too but they're afraid to come out under a military keeping their President captive. To tell you that the juntas took over Government with no clear vision, they said they did the coup to save Nigeria. Since when has a nation do coup d'etat to itself to save another nation instead of theirs?.

Gadafi was toppled because civilians majorly supported his removal, but that’s not the case here, all the junta have to do in Niger is arm the civilians with ak47 and two magazines, it will be hit for ecowas, you talk about drones, [s] then you must be a kid or not very knowledgeable about international conflicts [/s]

Again, don't compare Africa to Europe, Asia or other parts of the world with sophisticated weapons to detect, track, do and undo, etc. It was a drone that fired the convoy of Gaddafi. A war ends when the commanders are dead. This juntas already are been watched day and night ever since they started this. Just a drone will wipe out the commanders in Niger and they surrender. Russia will never risk anything for Africa if Niger people are hoping on Russia.

The junta is goin to use the civilians as human shields, just watch

An armed civilian is a potential target, makes the war easy against trained soldiers.

However, unarmed civilians blocking roads would counter any invasion.

This war will make Africans know their place in this world.

In war, once your command is dead, the war ends as others would surrender. The juntas are very vulnerable as they're watched from the sky like a cat watching a meat. Don't compare Russia with every kind of weapon tech with Niger na.
Politics / Re: Don’t Scrap Niger Delta Affairs Ministry, PANDEF Tells Tinubu by adebayo987: 6:21am On Aug 19, 2023
Niger Delta Affairs and yet joblessness and poverty looms the Niger Delta. I wonder what an ordinary secretary working in NDDC and all other officials are doing carrying police convoys around wherever they go. They've ate the money meant for Niger Deltans and want to play big where the people they're supposed to help are. That ministry is a criminal den. Let it be replaced. They don't have any goals or visions other than to embezzle money and grow pot bellies.
adenigga:

The Pan Niger Delta Forum has expressed fear that the administration of President Bola Tinubu may have sidelined the affairs of the Niger Delta following the exclusion of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs during the recently designation of portfolios to ministers-designates.

It also alleged that the Federal Government had squandered resources belonging to the Niger Delta, citing the deplorable state of rural infrastructure in the region.

Reacting to a remark by the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, Ogbonnaya Orji, that Nigeria earned $741.5bn and N635.3bn from the oil/gas and solid minerals sectors respectively, between 1999 and 2020, a period of about 21 years, the spokesperson for PANDEF, Ken Robinson, said the recorded funds had not been adequately used for the development of the region.

Speaking with Saturday PUNCH, Robinson explained that though throughout the 21 years, there had been several cases of oil theft, official corruption, under-declaration of exports and all sorts of vices affecting the even distribution of the revenue.

He said, “It is necessary to also use this opportunity to observe that there are 46 ministers that are appointed to assigned ministries, and there is no Ministry of Niger Delta affairs listed. We hope that this government is not attempting to scrap that ministry because the agitation will be serious.”

Robinson also lamented the infrastructural deficits in the Niger Delta region despite its oil resources.

“The government has over the years squandered the resources of the Niger Delta, and of course, the dedication of infrastructure, particularly rural infrastructure in the Niger Delta is worse.

“As we speak, major federal roads in the Niger Delta are almost not motorable. From Warri/Sapele to Benin is something else, and from Port Harcourt to Aba is terrible through the East-West areas. So, there is nothing to show that we earn so much money from oil, particularly in the Niger Delta.

“All there is to show is individuals who have become billionaires, multibillionaires from our oil money. Of course, you can recite a recent statement by the President concerning powerful individuals, unelected powerful individuals who control the oil scam, importation scam,” he added.

While Nigerian businesses were destroyed with his policies. He used the money for his selfish gain. Actually it is impossible to get involved in Nigerian politics and not commit at least one crime involving money, especially as CBN governor. He deserves this suffering. Let it send a message to future corrupt public office holders.
Voice22:
Emefiele dragged before court over alleged N6.9bn procurement fraud

The suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, appeared before the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja over N6.9 billion alleged procurement fraud.

His arraignment was however stalled due to the absence of the second defendant who are said to be indisposed.

Although Emefiele who is the first defendant was present in court, the second defendant, a female CBN employee, Sa’adatu Yaro, was not in court.

Following an application for adjournment, the Presiding Judge, Justice Hamza Muazu adjourned the matter to August 23, 2023.

Emefiele will be arraigned alongside Yaro and her company, April1616 Investment Limited on 20 charges of procurement fraud, conspiracy and conferring corrupt advantages on his associates.

Emefiele has been accused of conferring corrupt advantages on Yaro, a director in April 1616 Investment Ltd.

In the charges signed by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mohammed Abubakar; Deputy Director, Public Prosecution, Mrs Nkiru Jones-Nebo and eight other ministry officials, the three accused persons were alleged to have bought a fleet of over 98 exotic vehicles and armoured buses valued at about N6.9bn.

It is stupid to think that if the US fully backs ECOWAS and support them with weapons Niger even with the support of Russia or any other countries would survive in a one weak war.

In war, there's a very big difference between attacking and defending. Defending is the most difficult part of war. But look at Ukraine where the West is backing in defence, see how much the war has cost Russia. You can't compare a precision weapon with a random weapon and that's the kind of weapon the US produces in millions and it's super expensive to build and wield it.

Na just one drone go just drop one where the juntas dey and the war ends.

Politics / Re: An Ultimatum In Niger: Become Muslim Or Be Slaughtered by adebayo987: 2:32pm On Aug 18, 2023
This is how sensitive a Muslim Muslim ticket is
the ogas at the top won't feel to do anything because it's their religion. It has started in Niger, it will gradually spread and all Muslim folks won't be serious about it.
Parachoko:
“Whenever the militants visit a village, they will ask the chief to call all the people to listen to their message. The militants will say to people that they are against the government, that they want everybody to become Muslim and that those who refuse to obey will be slaughtered.”

These are the words of a local church leader in Niger. We can’t tell you his name or precise location because he is afraid of retribution for daring to talk about what seems obvious – parts of Niger are amid a crisis driven by radical Islamic violence.

The local leader is commenting on the latest aggression towards a village in the southwest, near Niger’s border with Burkina Faso. According to a reliable field source, Islamic militants approached the village on 10 June and gave the ultimatum: Christians should either leave within 72 hours or accept Islam.

“A total of 40% of the population in that village are Christians,” said an Open Doors field partner. “Currently, 69 Christian families have left the village, and they are taking refuge in a town where many Christians live. Those displaced believers are living under the trees, and it is the rainy season. Life is extremely hard for them now.”

“Christians are the ones who are being persecuted by militants in that area,” a local church leader said.

Niger’s problem with terrorist violence is on the rise and the country’s porous borders mean conflicts from neighbouring countries can easily come into Niger. In fact, since 2021 it is one of the top 10 countries in the world most impacted by terrorism.

The June incident is just one of many. In another nearby village, militants told Christians they were not allowed to play music during church services. They also said Christian women must wear hijabs, while men are required to wear a modest tunic and allow their beards to grow long. Men were to instruct their wives to stay at home, doing nothing, as their interpretation of the Quran commands.

In fact, the increasing influence of various Islamic militant groups – particularly Islamic State Greater Sahara (ISGS) – has recently become so intense that all public Christian worship has come to a halt in some rural areas.

“This area constitutes the largest Christian community in this region,” said a local church leader. “There are several churches in the villages, but because of the jihadist threat, all the churches in the rural area have closed. Pray for the Christian believers who are facing this situation of persecution.”

Our field teams remind us that we can take action through prayer. Local partners on the ground asked us to pray in the following ways:

Please pray for God’s intervention at the border between Niger and Burkina Faso.
Pray that God will rescue His people from the hands of the jihadists.
Pray that the Lord will strengthen the Church in Niger and help believers remain faithful during this uncertain time.
Pray for wisdom for the church leaders in the area who are facing militant attacks, as they monitor and decide the next steps.
Pray that the authorities will have wisdom and diligence in dealing with this threat and ensuring the protection of everybody. Pray that the local church community will take these brothers and sisters in, show them kindness and help them to get back on their feet, living out the words of Hebrews 13:1-2: “Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.”

She's either living with roommates, or having a very creepy looking room. Don't expect her to answer the call. Secondly, our people are not used to that. Thirdly, you could break up with her and your call could drive away potential husband for her. The US has approved Israel’s request to sell the Arrow-3 missile system to Germany, the Israeli defense ministry said Thursday, in what will become Israel’s largest ever defense deal.

The approval paves the way for Israel and Germany to sign a landmark $3.5 billion defense agreement, according to the Israeli defense ministry.

Israeli officials had been informed of the approval by the US Department of State on Thursday, according to a spokesperson for Israel’s Ministry of Defense.

Israel and the United States have been jointly developing the multi-billion-dollar Arrow missile defense system since 1986.

The Arrow 3 system is designed to intercept exo-atmospheric ballistic missiles, enabling interceptions at high altitudes above the atmosphere.

Senior Israeli and German officials will sign a letter of commitment worth $600 million to enable immediate work on the project, the Israeli ministry spokesperson said. A full contract will be signed once the agreement has been approved by both countries’ respective parliaments.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant called the US approval “an expression of confidence in the excellent capabilities of Israel’s defense industries” and a reflection of US-Israeli “powerful defense ties.”

Gallant added that the decision would “contribute to Israel’s force buildup and economy” and that Germany acquiring Israeli defense systems was “meaningful to every Jewish person.”

Business / Re: Foreign Exchange Market: CBN Introduces Price Verification System( PVS) by adebayo987: 5:44am On Aug 18, 2023
God bless CBN. China did it and it's working perfectly for them. Even the price of ordinary lizard is regulated by the Chinese Government. Nothing like "dollar don increase" on local farm products even when transportation price is stable as we see happened in 2020 under Buhari. Also,.if this work well it can help control PMS marketers who used to remove subsidy in advance over an old subsidised petrol.

What Nigeria needs is a strict social economy on our local products. Even though it may not work as intended now in Nigeria, but as far as the process's started, it's a welcome development as it will be perfect gradually in the future.

God bless CBN, God bless Nigeria...
sirgoody:
Foreign Exchange Market: CBN introduces Price Verification System( PVS), mandates commercial banks on compliance.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has announced mandatory compliance by all commercial banks to the Price Verification System.

The apex bank made this known yesterday through a Circular titled, " Go-Live of the Central Bank of Nigeria Price Verification Portal System" and signed by the Director of Trade and Exchange Department, Dr O. S Nnaji.

It reads, " Following the successful conduct of the pilot run and the various training held with the banks, the Central Bank of Nigeria hereby announces the Go-Live of the Price Verification System ( PVS).

Consequently, with effect from August 31, 2023, all applications for Forms M shall be accompanied by a valid Price Verification Report generated from the Price Verification Portal.

For the avoidance of doubt, by this Circular, the Price Verification Report has become a mandatory trade document precedent to the completion of a form M.

All authorized dealers are hereby advised to bring this to the attention of their customers as any case of infraction will be appropriately sanctioned.

Please, ensure compliance."

Price Verification is the process of comparing internal prices and parameters used to mark positions to obtain position valuations to a corresponding set of independently verifiable external prices and parameters.

This system is effective in trading at the Foreign Exchange Market such as the Investor's and Exporter's Window by the CBN. It will enable the CBN to monitor and weed FX speculators from the matket.

Recall that the CBN Acting Governor, Folashodun Shonubi, after having a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, had said that the apex bank is taking a tough measure to weed speculators from the FX market.

Forget all the people trying to make sense of the constitution, a lot of Nigerians are happy with Emefiele's situation.

Take a look at Kanu, the entire SE are not happy, even their elders have asked both Buhari and Tinubu to release him.

But that of Emefiele, you'll even be risking your life if you come in the public to support him. He's the major reason our inflation index is at where it is today due to his policies. Many businesses shutdown because of Emefiele's wicked policies.

Please, allow him to stay where he is. Even if he's released, without heavy security presence around him his life is at risk. If he stays there for a long time, by the time he's released, most Nigerians have forgotten about him and he can even walk past you on the street. But now that his atrocities are still fresh on our minds, taaaah! Don't try it o. Let him even be happy he's locked and heavily guarded where he is now.

Fiction...

Surprised some people fell for it.
Gentlelox:
Disclaimer: the picture below is not her pic.

I met this girl some months back at an airport in Lagos. She was the typical average looking girl with a big self esteem, to be honest, she wasn't looking beautiful on the outside, infact zero beauty but I just liked ger.

I was already tired of beautiful girls relationship. So when i met her i thought i was having a good day. We exchanged numbers in less than a minute of discussion and i left.

I called her and invited her over to my place for a dinner which she accepted. She came and ate the food i cooked. I got to know her more. She was no ordinary broke bit*h. She was in her class in business. She imports goods(i can't mention because of her privacy). I didn't even bother to drill her, it never even occur to me. Infact, sex was far from my equation with her. So we agreed on a relationship.

Fast forwarded to a week later, she called me to tell me her cream has finished and i should help her to buy it. At first, i thought it was a prank and went along. When we met later, she brought it up again and when i asked her for the price she said "45K" in my life, i never use even 10K cream before, wetin i wan take am do ? and here is a girl i never asked for sex nor do i stress her about her personal life asking me for 45k for cream.

I waited for like two days and when she brought it up again, I told her I don't have money for that and she should get it for herself. She has hundreds of million sitting in her account, a wonderful apartment she owns, three luxurious cars and a thriving business. I made a lengthy text telling her i may not be in her class afterwards. I explained everything to her and my plans to open a new branch for my business somewhere and even haven't been able to do it...

This lady took it serious and ranted on how she could afford it herself but she wanted me to... She went further playing emotional victims like i did something.

Well, i ended the relationship that day. I could have marry that lady. Well, we still chat once in a while with monosyllabic responses.

Have you ever met such people before ?
