Members of a local vigilante group in charge of Eagle Island, Port Harcourt City local government area of Rivers State, in collaboration with Police officers attached to the Azikiwe Police Division, have arrested twelve suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as “yahoo boys”, for allegedly burying a newborn baby on Wednesday.

The fraudsters were said to have buried the baby at the waterfront in Eagle Island.

The Chairman of Phalga Security Watch, Victor Ohaji, who doubles as the Chief Security Officer of Eagle Island, said they got intelligence that some ”yahoo boys” were carrying out incantation at the waterfront.

Ohaji said he quickly mobilized his men and on getting to the waterfront, the boys had left.

According to the Vigilante leader, after a close observation of the area, they discovered that the boys had buried something at the waterfront.

The Chief Security Officer of Eagle Island, Ohaji said they dug the ground and discovered a newborn baby who was already dead.

He said they alerted the Rivers State Neighborhood Watch and the Station Officer of the Police post at Eagle Island, who then informed the Divisional Police Officer of Azikiwe Police Division.

Ohaji further explained that they went in search of the boys and apprehended them while they were coming out from a hotel within Eagle Island.

He confirmed that the boys were handed over to the police for proper investigation and prosecution.

“This morning, one of my brothers called me that some yahoo boys were doing some incantation in the Eagle Island Waterfront, in the Andoni area sandfield.

“So, immediately I called my boys and we swung into action. When we got to the scene of the crime, the boys had left.

“I asked my brother where the boys were doing the incantation, he showed me. When I saw the area, I knew something was buried there.

“We had to dig the area to know what was buried there. When we dug the place, we saw a bouncing baby boy, a newborn baby inside the ground.

“Immediately I called the SO of Eagle Island, being the Station Officer of Eagle Island, and I told him what we discovered.

“He said, let him relate to the DPO and immediately, we started going around in Eagle Island to make sure we apprehend the boys.

“We went from hotel to hotel, together with the police and the Rivers State Neighborhood Watch. We moved around, we saw them coming out of a hotel.

“As they saw us, they started running but we apprehended them. We took them to the police station, including the dead baby, to show them what we had discovered.

“One of the leaders of the yahoo boys was ranting, saying his father is a Major General and nothing will happen, that his father is coming.

“I’m pleading with the Rivers State Government to assist Phalga Security Watch. We are really working in this state. We hire a vehicle every day and nobody is paying us.

“Please, let them come to our aid and assist us so that we can get a vehicle that we can use to turn round the whole state to make sure we bring perpetrators of crime to book.” He added.

In the meantime, the Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the suspected fraudsters, who allegedly buried the newborn baby.

The Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for proper investigation.

She added that if at the end of the investigation, the suspects are found guilty, they will be charged to court for justice to prevail.

President Bola Tinubu has implicated a clerk at Chicago State University as responsible for blatant irregularities that characterised a certificate the school reprinted in his name, according to new court filings seen by Peoples Gazette.

The Nigerian president said the unnamed clerk “unfortunately” made the errors as to the dates the school stated on his recently-issued certificate and when he actually graduated, thereby creating “the appearance of differences.”

Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s statement was filed on August 23 by his counsel as part of his argument before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago. Judge Jeffrey Gilbert had given the Nigerian politician until August 23 to explain why his academic records at CSU should not be released to his political opponent Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku Abubakar, earlier this month, requested court approval to subpoena Mr Tinubu’s files domiciled with CSU because he believed the documents would clarify glaring inconsistencies in Mr Tinubu’s background, including publicly-available documents that suggested the CSU in the 1970s admitted a female student bearing Bola Tinubu who was born on March 29, 1954.

The Nigerian president said he was born on March 29, 1952, although he had also, at different times, listed 1954 as his birth year in the past. He also recently expunged his primary and secondary education from his records after it was discovered that the schools he listed under oath in his 1999 run for Lagos governor did not exist anywhere in Nigeria. Mr Abubakar believed the requested records would show which early and high papers Mr Tinubu submitted to CSU before he was admitted to study accounting there.

Atiku Abubakar had sued to obtain Mr Tinubu’s school records under a U.S. statute that allows documents available in the U.S. to be subpoenaed for use as evidence in a foreign court.

Atiku Abubakar argued that Tinubu had presented contradictory claims in Nigeria and the CSU, in responding to a previous subpoena, had issued documents that contradicted what Mr Tinubu had entered under oath in Nigeria.

Atiku Tinubu’s lawyers, led by Oluwole Afolabi and Christopher Carmichael, argued that the August 2022 subpoena that was issued following a request by a Nigerian lawyer Mike Enahoro-Ebah was “illegal” because he had no valid grounds to seek the documents, especially under education privacy rights. The lawyers, nonetheless, admitted the documents indeed emanated from the CSU, but an unnamed clerk had mistakenly typed the graduation date.

“Unfortunately, in responding to the illegal and invalid subpoena, CSU made several errors,” Mr Tinubu’s attorneys said. “CSU issued a new diploma for Bola A. Tinubu, but incorrectly wrote the date of graduation as June 27, 1979.”

The lawyers also said changes in school-authorised signatories and logos, alongside other anomalies like the fonts of the certificate, all combined to generate an appearance of wrongdoing.

“The correct date was June 22, 1979, but that scrivener’s error – along with a change in the CSU logo, the font on the diploma, and leadership at CSU who signed the diploma created the appearance of differences between an earlier issued diploma and the one issued in response to the 2022 subpoena,” the lawyers said.

Atiku Abubakar said he filed the suit because he wanted to get the school to certify all documents relating to Mr Tinubu, some of which had been filed by the Nigerian president’s lawyers in Nigerian court as part of the ongoing election petitions proceeding.

But Tinubu argued further that Mr Abubakar should be requesting the documents because Mr Tinubu’s academic records were not part of the initial litigation over the Nigerian elections. They said the opposition leader’s argument had been focused entirely on cheating and other irregularities around the conduct of the election.

They also argued that the Nigerian court hearing the election petitions had already concluded hearing on arguments, and a judgment is now being anticipated. The court is expected to deliver judgment on or before September 21, in line with the Nigerian electoral law that mandates the conclusion of a petition within 180 days after the election. The presidential election was held on February 25, and Mr Tinubu was sworn in as president on May 29.

Tinubu’s argument appeared to mirror the position of the CSU authorities on the lawsuit, and the school had said it would defer compliance decision to its former student on the matter.

Atiku Abubakar’s legal team, led by Chicago-based attorney Angela Marie Liu, is expected to file a response to Mr Tinubu’s argument that the documents should not be sought because they were not part of the Nigerian proceeding and would be inadmissible due to the current stage of the case.

Four business, take a long term loan by at least 5 to 10 years for repayment time. You'll be glad you did. But any short term loan is self dug grave and you can be arrested or accrue more debts in stupid Criminal interest rates than you can imagine.

Depending on your business, take a longer repayment term loan. Because business grows from 5 years and above, some can grow from 3 years to. By growth here I mean financial stability, such that you can't default on the loan even if they want all at ones at this time of your business. Secondly, don't open a business today to start making profit today, instead sacrifice for your business to start making profit after at least 2 years and above. Most Nigerian businesses fail because when they talk about business, they're not looking at the problem that they want to solve in the society, rather, they're looking at how quickly they'll be rich and escape poverty in the shortest time possible (that's failure mindset).

It's only in Nigeria that loans are given only for a very short time even by big banks and they would prefer a very short term loan in order to make quick profit. The economy now begin to dangle because nothing is stable as a lot of debtors are created which would further worsen unemployment in the country.

Russian media: Private jet crashes in Russia, warlord Prigozhin listed among passengers

A private plane has reportedly crashed in Russia's Tver Oblast, with the Wagner Group's boss Yevgeny Prigozhin listed as one of the passengers, the state-owned news agency TASS reported on Aug. 23.

According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, all ten people on board– three crew members and seven passengers – have died.

The Russian independent outlet Verstka said that the plane took off from Moscow en route to St. Petersburg at around 7 p.m. Moscow time, and the communication was lost at 7:11.

Prigozhin launched a short-lived rebellion against the Kremlin in late June, capturing the city of Rostov and marching toward Moscow before abruptly ending the insurrection.

An armed insurrection began in Russia on June 23, and, before it abruptly came to an end, looked poised to soon break out into open, large-scale violence.

The notorious Wagner mercenary force, once often called once “Putin’s private army,” occupied a major regional capital and began a march on Moscow.

Its leader, outspoken war criminal Prigozhin, turned his sights on Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and head of the Russian General Staff Valerii Gerasimov, who he critisized for not providing his troops with sufficient ammunition during the months-long battle for Bakhmut.

The Wagner Group was the key factor in Russia's successful push into Bakhmut.

Prigozhin's Wagner began to bring tens of thousands of convicts from Russia's prisons into its ranks, including those convicted of rape and murder, what proved to be the group's main recruitment drive in late 2022.

However, less than 24 hours after starting the rebellion, Prigozhin march on Moscow was declared over. He announced that he was turning his forces around, and returning to base.

Following an undisclosed deal allegedly brokered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko, the warlord was allowed to walk free and has recently released a video claiming to be in Africa.

Ukraine's military intelligence Chief Kyrylo Budanov said on on June 30 that Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has been tasked with assassinating Prigozhin.

A tragic plane crash near Moscow has claimed the lives of 10 people, including Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the notorious Wagner Group.

iexclusivenews reports that the private Embraer Legacy aircraft was flying from Moscow to St Petersburg on Wednesday, when it crashed near the village of Kuzhenkino in the Tver Region, according to the ministry for emergency situation.

There's one thing you seem not to understand about Nigerians. It is sentiments that work during elections and nothing more or less than that. It is either they're voting for money (includes INEC and Security officials) or religion, or ethnicity. Nobody is actually voting to make life better for all. Everyone is voting to make life better for "me and my family" kind of adage. That's the reality. We see in the past election how some LP agents received bribe and quickly turned their allegiance. So, honestly, nobody knows because on the field some people would accept as little as 10k to vote someone else's choice.

As for me, I'll vote whom I believe will make things better for all.

I honestly don't know what to describe you with. That was how people were noisy when Okadas were ban from entering some regions in the cities. Today, everyone is used to the city life and are enjoying it because it reduced crime. In those days, criminals would ride bike and spy on government residential areas and even come on bikes when attacking people and also for robbery.

Right! But Jesus didn't ask you to kill them no matter the circumstances. He even told his followers that they will be killed for His sake but gave them hope and courage to stand firm in their faith. He was more concerned about their faith than anything as that would be the only thing that can save them from eternal damnation, further telling them not to be afraid of the one who can only harm their body and not their souls. There's nothing like self-defence in Christ's teachings. Assuming self defence was in Christ's teachings, Muslims would never dare touch a Christian let to say their building, because they would skin them (Muslims) alive. In fact, Christianity would have been deadlier than Israel Jews of today that they believed that Yahweh gave them the approval for self defence (now the Palestinians their oppressors are the ones crying for help up and down today), but remove defence from Israel and see how cruel this Palestinians will treat them.

The founders of a religion is like an Army commander, the soldiers do exactly what the commander orders. Muslims are doing the things that Muhammad taught them while Christians are doing what Jesus Christ taught them.
