Instagram comedian, Sydney Talker, has publicly called for a Coronavirus test to be carried out on him after reportedly showing symptoms of the viral disease.

In a post shared on his Instagram page, Sydney said sometime last week, he developed symptoms of the disease and called the hotlines of the NCDC where he was told they would not be attending to him since he hasn’t shown all the signs and symptoms of the disease, has not had any recent international travel history nor had any contact with a confirmed Coronavirus patient.


According to him,the NCDC and eveyone dismissed his claim, attributing it to one of his many skits.



SydneyTalker said his symptoms persisted and he had to call the hotlines of the Lagos State Ministry of Health but no one answered his calls.



He said he later contacted them via Twitter and was advised to get cough syrup and mix lemon in hot water and also take a lot of liquid. He said he got relief for two days but on Thursday night, he came down again as he was having serious difficulties breathing.

He was rushed to a private hospital where he was rejected because of his symptoms and referred to the Mainland hospital where Infectious disease patients were being treated.



According to Sydney, he arrived the hospital but the doctors on ground dismissed his claim, saying the symptoms he was showing were not for Coronavirus disease.

After much persuasion, the doctors took his samples for testing but refused to admit him.


He was later taken to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital LUTH where the doctors there reportedly told him to go to the Infectious hospital as the symptoms he had were those of COVID-19. He said he was forced to go back home where he is currently taking some medication.

A video has surfaced online showing the moment a man was spotted using a stick to operate an ATM for fear of contracting the pandemic coronavirus.

A twitter user identified as Adah shared the video where others on the queue looked at the man in awe and shock of the extend to which he went in a bid to protect himself.

In the video, the man could be seen using a long curved stick to input his password and click on the buttons beside the screen.

Mavin ace singer, Rema took to social media,his Twitter page to add his voice to the sweeping state of coronavirus in Nigeria.

“They refused to invest in hospitals because they could fly abroad to get treatments for themselves, now countries borders closed, Karma take the wheel.”

This comes after coronavirus continues to eat across the Nigerian ruling and political class. Over the past 48 hours, Abba Kyari, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Muhammed and more Nigerian politicians continue to battle with coronavirus.

Nigerians are also angry at the laxity of the Nigerian government in managing the coronavirus situation might closing the borders and airports earlier.

A lot of Nigerians argue that Nigerian politicians used to be relaxed towards the Nigerian healthcare systems because they had the luxury of traveling out of the country for quality healthcare but now they cannot longer travel out for treatments since all airports have been shutdown.

As the world is battling the pandemic coronavirus, it’s been reported that a man has died in Yunnan province, China, after he tested positive to Hantavirus.

The man died while on his way back to Shandong Province for work on a chartered bus, China’s Global Times reported.

32 other people who were on the bus with him have been tested, the report added.









Following the report of his death, Hantavirus became a trending topic on social media, with people panicking that it was another COVID-19 and could become a new pandemic.

However, it’s been reported that Hantavirus is not a new virus and is not airborne, unlike coronavirus.Hantavirus is contracted when a person comes into contact with rodents that carry the virus.

“Rodent infestation in and around the home remains the primary risk for hantavirus exposure. Even healthy individuals are at risk for HPS infection if exposed to the virus,” Centre for Disease Control and Prevention said in its website.



Among the early symptoms of the virus include fever, headache, muscle ache, abdominal pain, dizziness, chills and abdominal problems, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea. About half of all HPS patients experience these symptoms.

Late symptoms include lungs fill with fluid and shortness of breath.
