CultureCheck Out These Nigerian Ethnic Group That Have The Most Ridiculous Bride Prices by adebisiseun2(op): 9:51am On Nov 29, 2017
All over Nigeria, bride price is paid by grooms in
return for the family's consent and blessings for the
bride to start a new family but some of these bride
prices are ridiculously high.
According to practice, bride price takes different form
based on traditions and custom of the people.
Sometime, it is an amount of money, property or
other form of payment expected to be made by
prospective groom's family. In Nigeria, the payment
of bride price is essential for the validation of any
marriage regardless of the tribe.
Since there is no uniformity in the practice, here are
some tribes in the Nigeria with a surprising tribe
tradition.
1. Mbaise, Imo State
The ethnic group has one of the most expensive
marriage rituals in Africa.play
Marrying the daughter of an Mbaise family can be
very expensive. If the daughter is educated then the
bride price could go even higher. According to
unwritten tradition of the people, a bride/woman is
an asset to the man.
As such, the Mbaise people demand a bride price
sometimes reaching up to N100,000 accompanied by
a marriage list of things to buy that can total up to
N800,000.
2. Bororo, Adamawa State
This is a Fulani group with large settlement in
Adamawa state.play
The Bororo people are primarily a nomadic ethnic
group. Although not as financially draining as other
ethnic groups, it still requires a large number of
resources.
To marry a Bororo girl, you will be asked to bring live
cattle which is usually between 10 to 50 live cattle.
Also, the wealth of the suitor is also noted to be
considered in fixing the desired bride price.
3. Ikwerre, Rivers State
Wedding is a funfair to the people of Ikwerre in
Rivers state Nigeriaplay
The Ikwerre people have extremely expensive bride
prices and marriage lists produced by the bride's
family. The bride price and marriage list can cost the
suitor up to the sum of N1 million to get his bride.
To the Ikwerre people, their daughters have been
raised with dedication and any man that marries
them should pay handsomely for them.
4. Kalabari, Rivers State
The Groom is expected to pay to have the Bride's
mouth.play
The Kalabari people are also known to have some of
the most outrageous bride price and marriage lists in
Nigeria. For a typical wedding ceremony, the groom is
subjected to many payments, one which include
“buying the bride's mouth”.
A Kalabari wedding can reach the sum of N1 million
and beyond.
5. Ibibio, Akwa-Ibom State
To the Ibibio people, the wedding ceremony won't
end at the reception as there is a street procession
that complete the rites.play
As a result of the Ibibio people being mostly
agriculturalists, they believe that their daughters are
raised to be strong and self-sustaining. Hence they
are seen to have been groomed to support a man
and help him raise a family.
A bride price combines with the list of items
demanded can result in the total of at least N700,000.
6. Efik, Cross Rivers State
The Efik people have one of the robust wedding
rituals in Nigeria.play
Efik people are known to have a rich cultural
background and their marriage ceremonies are a
clear indication of this. The marriage list is generated
based on the financial ability of the suitor.
Among this tribe, the bride price is estimated in Euro.
This practice is attributed to the strong influence of
colonial activities on the people.

HealthFull Story, photos& Video Of D Guy Who Proposed 2 His Girl Via Billboard In Lagos by adebisiseun2(op): 6:41am On Nov 28, 2017
Let’s Just Say We Love This Proposal In The Heart Of
Lagos Island Right Next To The Historic Cathedral.
“On Sunday evening @ojay_lagos proposed to his
sweetheart, Tamilore Faboya, using an Elevate
media Ng digital billboard.”
“Deeper than words, beyond right. Die for your
love; beyond life.”
“These were thoughts on OJ’s mind when he was
barreling down to Marina to propose to the love
of his life. You see he had a plan to propose to
Tammy at 6.30 and he was almost behind
schedule.”
He met Tammy, 8 years ago, when he was in the
University of Ibadan. Dating was not really on his
mind, so you can guess that neither was marriage.
His friend had promised to introduce him to someone
nice and he only obliged to be polite. However, the
minute he saw those beautiful eyes and her
captivating smile he just knew it, with every fiber of
his being, that she was the one: his always, his
forever.
At about 6.30pm on Sunday, 26 November 2017, OJ
declared his love for again and his intention to spend
the rest of his life with her or die trying on a billboard
in Marina for the whole world to see.
He was bold enough to be unashamed about the
depth of his affection, sincere enough to display the
same for his friends and even the strangers of Marina
to see and completely resolute enough to stay on his
knees until she agreed to color his world by sharing
the rest of her life with him as his wife.
It was the most honest and beautiful proposal deep
set in the old city of Lagos with no one but them and
everyone with them.

PoliticsWhat Buhari Must Do For Us To Pay Workers Before Christmas – State Governors by adebisiseun2(op): 5:26am On Nov 28, 2017
State Governors on Monday gave President Muhammadu Buhari conditions to meet before abiding by his conditions of paying workers’ salaries before Christmas. Speaking on behalf of the governors, Rochas Okorocha of Imo State said payment of the arrears was dependent on the president’s approval of the payment of the 50 per cent Paris Club loan refund. He said this while addressing State House Correspondents after the governors had a closed-door meeting with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Okorocha disclosed that governors would put pressure on the president to get approval for the balance so that they can make adequate appropriation arrangements. Confirming Buhari’s directive, Okorocha said, “Yes, with the Paris Club coming, every worker should enjoy his/her Christmas. “The president has expressed the need to make ensure that every Nigerian especially the workers have a beautiful Christmas and the issue of outstanding Paris club was discussed and that was taken care of. “We also made a request for Mr. President’s approval so that the balance should form part of our 2018 budget, because we can’t include it, until we are sure that the money is coming. That was also sorted out. “So, as it is now, the issue of workers took the centre stage and Mr. President was concerned about those who depend on their salaries to feed their families and pay their house rent and he had the assurance from the governors that we will meet up those obligations". source: http://techfile.gq/site-forum-view.html?to-forum=3165

babyfaceafrica:
When he feels like..there is no defined time!!!!...some people actually actually leave early and succeed ,some leave early and fail... So whenever the guy thinks he is ready.. He should.move.. I have seen a lot of young guys out there, staying with friends but finding it hard to make ends..and the family did not pursue them, but due to "I am a man''. Mentality ,they waste away.the fact is that some people will do better when they are with the family than when the live too early. Everyone will defnitly leave the family..but time is Paramount......don't leave because your friends have all left their parents..leave because you are ready to be alone!!
