Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Olamide Oladiji, on Thursday emerged one of the distinguished citizens newly sworn in as Justice of the Peace (JP)—a recognition he described as “a call to deepen service, fairness and peaceful coexistence across the State.” Oladiji, who received the honour from Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa at The Dome, Akure, said the conferment marks a renewed responsibility to promote justice and strengthen community conflict-resolution mechanisms. Speaking shortly after taking the oath, the Speaker expressed gratitude to the government and judiciary for reviving a critical institution that had been dormant since 2008. “This honour is not just a title. It is a responsibility to stand for fairness, equity and peace. As representatives of the people, we must ensure that justice is not only done but seen to be done ,right from our communities to the courts,” he said. “I consider this appointment a renewed call to serve with humility and integrity. I will work closely with security agencies, traditional rulers and community structures to promote peaceful coexistence and prevent avoidable conflicts.” The Speaker noted that the revival of the JP system would reduce local disputes escalating into full-blown crises, strengthen mediation at the grassroots and support neighbourhood harmony. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa said the conferment symbolised a major step in rebuilding confidence in the justice system at the community level. He described the office of the JP as a “sacred responsibility” requiring integrity, wisdom, fairness and compassion. Aiyedatiwa highlighted ongoing judicial reforms, including the expansion of the judiciary, recruitment of more state counsels and the near completion of a new Judiciary Complex with modular courts, a ceremonial court and a public law library. Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Dr Kayode Ajulo, traced the history of the JP system and described the newly inaugurated group as a bridge between government and communities. He said appointees were selected strictly based on moral standing, integrity, humility and community influence. The Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olusegun Odusola, represented by Justice Akintan Osadebe, explained that the office of a JP is both legal and quasi-judicial. Among the eminent personalities honoured alongside the Speaker were traditional rulers, top security chiefs, respected clergy and senior public officials. They include the Olowo of Owo and Chairman, Ondo State Council of Obas, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III; the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo; and the Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II.

The Consolidated APC Grassroots Movement (CAGrAM) says preparations have been finalised for the 2025 National Grassroots Mobilization Summit, which it describes as the largest coordinated mobilisation effort for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 reelection campaign. The event, scheduled for Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja, is expected to host thousands of coordinators, community mobilisers, youth and women groups, grassroots leaders and other APC support structures from across the country. Speaking in Abuja, the Chairman of the Central Organising Committee, Hon. Dr. Agbi Stephen Omobamidele, said the summit would serve as a major milestone in the party’s nationwide voter mobilisation strategy. “This Summit is the activation point for the 2027 grassroots strategy. Every zone, every state, every ward-level influencer will be represented. Our target is clear — to build a disciplined, well-structured and highly motivated grassroots army capable of delivering at least 10 million votes for President Tinubu,” he said. Omobamidele explained that the summit will include technical sessions, strategy briefings, voter-behaviour data reviews and presentations focused on deepening community-level participation under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He added that the initiative aims to streamline engagement efforts by harmonising support groups and grassroots networks that have been operating independently since 2023. “The Renewed Hope Agenda has entered a phase where communication, public enlightenment and trust-building at the local level are crucial. This gathering will help unify the message, tighten structures and align energy behind a single national direction,” he added. Sources within the organising committee said senior government officials, lawmakers, party stakeholders and major grassroots organisers have already indicated interest in attending, describing the summit as “timely and politically strategic.” Analysts say the gathering may become one of the most influential mobilisation events ahead of the 2027 elections, especially as political parties adjust their ground strategies in response to recent electoral patterns. CAGrAM said further information on guest speakers, state delegation arrangements and the official programme schedule will be released soon.

The fourth prosecution witness of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in the alleged money laundering trial of the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has re-affirmed that fund withdrawals by the state government did not breach any banking law. During cross-examination before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court on Monday, Mshelia Arhyel Bata, a compliance officer with Zenith Bank, also reiterated that the name of the former governor did not appear as beneficiary in the account presented as evidence. The Defence Counsel, Joseph Daudu, SAN, drew the witness' attention to certain withdrawals by one Umar Comfort Olufunke, which the prosecution did not mention. The prosecution had concentrated on withdrawals by Abdulsalam Hudu. The withdrawals, in multiples of N10 million, were between December 2017 and April 2018, with beneficiaries being various hotels in Kogi State, according to the witness. On cross-examination, the witness also confirmed withdrawals by one Alhassan Omakoji between November 2021 and December 2022, which did not exceed N10 million per withdrawal. He said the withdrawals were in line with the limits set by the Central Bank of Nigeria. He admitted that he was not aware of any law that regulates how Kogi State Govt spends its money or allocation. He said apart from the beneficiaries like the hotels, there was no way he could know what the state's transactions were meant for. The prosecution counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, thereafter said he had no re-examination for Mshelia and asked for him to be discharged. The witness had, at the last hearing, comfirmed that the former governor was neither a signatory to nor connected with any of the accounts presented as evidence. He admitted that, going through Exhibit 22A, from pages 24 to 413, Yahaya Bello was not also listed on any of the documents as a beneficiary of any transaction. After Mshelia, the fifth prosecution witness, Jesutoni Akoni, a compliance officer with Ecobank Plc, was examined by another prosecution counsel, Chukwudi Enebeli, SAN. He tendered a summon letter written to Ecobank, which was admitted in evidence. The EFCC lawyer also sought to tender a statement of account of Moses Ailetu companies with certificate of identification, from January 1 to January 31, 2016. The defence counsel did not oppose it and it was admitted as Exhibit 29. The witness was told to identify the different columns in the statement, which he did. He was told to confirm cash deposits by the company, which were between N3 million and N20 million, and totalling N57 million. On cross-examination, the witness confirmed that former governor Bello was not the beneficiary of the said deposits. "Confirm that any of the deposits you identified carries the name of Yahaya Bello," Daudu SAN said. "None of them carries the name, Yahaya Bello," the fifth witness responded. Akoni also admitted that it was not possible to discern the source of funds from the face of the documents. The prosecution, thereafter, introduced its sixth witness, on subpoena from Keystone Bank. Mohammed Bello Hassan, a relationship officer with the bank, was asked to produce the statements of account of Dantata and Sawoe, which was tendered as Exhibit, along with the certificate of identification. The defence counsel did not object. After this, a seventh witness, Olomotame Egoro, a compliance officer, on subpoena from Access Bank, was led in evidence by Pinheiro SAN. He confirmed to the court that he had the 12 sets of documents that had been requested. "We supplied sufficient customer's details that were extracted from the account opening packages at the time the customer opened the account," he said. The defence counsel did not object to the admission of the account statement proper but kicked against some extractions. "I am not going to object to the account proper but I will object to all the 12 purported extractions from the account opening documents attached. But I will not object to the statements of account, which were subpoenaed," he stated. "Based on our request, he brought other documents believing that we may be in need. We did not actually request for those documents," Pinheiro SAN responded. Daudu SAN prayed the court to tell the prosecution to remove "all the extraneous documents attached". The prosecution team then began to detach the documents that were regarded as irrelevant. At this point, Justice Emeka Nwite adjourned the matter to tomorrow, November 11, 2025, for continuation of trial.

The ranks of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State swelled yesterday as Hon. Ologun Adebukola Thaddeus Blessing, former Assistant State Treasurer and prominent spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), formally defected to the ruling party. Ologun, alongside other political heavyweights from the PDP, Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Action Alliance (AA), joined the APC under the platform of Nigeria Workstation, a political coalition led by former PDP spokesman, Hon. Kennedy Ikantu Peretei. The defection, which took place at Akure City Hall, was facilitated by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who urged Ondo people to unite behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. The Minister, represented by Chief Muyiwa Asagunla, described the mass defection as a sign of growing confidence in the President’s leadership. Receiving the defectors, APC State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, commended them for their decision, assuring that the party has enough space for all. He praised President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, which, he said, have continued to attract development and goodwill across the state. Convener of Nigeria Workstation, Kennedy Peretei, said their defection was driven by the need to align with a more purposeful and coordinated political platform capable of delivering good governance. According to him, “Recently, some opposition figures criticized President Bola Tinubu for trying to foist a single political party on Nigerians. His reply was very straightforward and simple. ‘It is not my business to organize the opposition.’ Is there anything to add?” Peretei, who led the group that included former SDP Deputy Governorship Candidate, Chief (Mrs.) Rachael Ajayi, and former Akoko Northwest Chairman, High Chief Olutope Adebambo, added that the event marked the final collapse of the opposition in Ondo State. He appreciated Minister Tunji-Ojo, Governor Aiyedatiwa, and other APC stakeholders for their support, saying their entry into the party would strengthen the APC ahead of the next election cycle.

Hon. Tope Omolayo, the embattled Chairman of the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, has described his purported suspension from office as “a failed coup.” It is reported that the legislative council the local government led by its Leader, Hon. Doyin Adebayo on Wednesday announced the suspension of the chairman. The legislative council in a letter, alleged that the chairman was suspended over financial mismanagement, disrespect to traditional rulers, violation to statutory budget among others, directing his deputy, Hon. Hamed Ibrahim to act in his capacity. In an interview, the chairman said that the legislative council was only playing a script written by some “disgruntled political elements” in the local government. “They(councillors) are just playing a script because there is no letter of invitation and there is no confrontation nor argument between the legislative council and me. “We were in the same programme on Tuesday at Oke Mapo and we were in the same hall on Monday. “So, there is no quarrel between us and I don’t know where this is coming from. “All I know is that we are here for peace. I was in my office when they called me that the council members were fighting among themselves during a meeting and I heard that they have suspended chairman. “This is a mere coup that has failed. There was no letter and no invitation but an online pronouncement,” he said. According to him, he is not aware of the legislative council’s decision and he remains the executive chairman of the local government. Omolayo, who denied all the allegations raised against him, said that the traditional rulers in the local government could attest to his developmental strides, and policies and programmes. The chairman added that his achievements in just less than eight months in office were unprecedented. He refuted the allegation that his vice chairman had taken over in acting capacity. Omolayo said that the legislative council should be made to face the consequences for violating a process of suspending an executive chairman. “There should be consequences for this action. You must have a consequence for every action. “There is nothing wrong if you want to suspend the chairman but there must be a procedure,” he stated. Also speaking, Ibrahim, the Vice Chairman of the local government, denied all the allegations raised in the letter by the legislative council. Ibrahim said that he remained vice chairman with a good relationship with the chairman.

Justice Maryann Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, on Thursday adjourned hearing in the alleged money laundering case instituted against the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, to November 12 after the EFCC called its sixth witness. When the case was called for continuation of hearing, the Prosecution first called its fifth witness, Victoria Oluwafemi, a compliance officer with Polaris Bank. The witness told the court the total credit to the account in question, which came from different senders, adding that the transfers from the account were in multiples of N10 million. He said the total credit in November, 2021 was N450 million. While being cross-examined by the Counsel to the 1st Defendant, Joseph Daudu, SAN, the witness admitted that she was not the accounts officer for the two accounts with her bank. She admitted also that, because she was not the accounts officer or relationship manager, she did not know how the transactions on these accounts were carried out. Counsel to the 2nd Defendant, AM Aliyu, while cross-examining the witness, said, "Look at the portion my learned brother showed you in Exhibit M, the name Abdulsalam Hudu did not feature there?" "That is correct. Abdulsalam Hudu's name did not feature," she responded. The Sixth Prosecution Witness (PW6), Mshelia Arhyel B, was then called for cross-examination. Daudu, SAN told the court that he had not concluded the cross-examination of the same witness in another court on a similar subject matter. The court, however, held that the matter before it was independent and that the Defence Counsel held the discretion to cross-examine or not. During the proceedings, the prosecution sought to tender certain documents through the subpoenaed witness. Counsel to the 1st Defendant objected to the admissibility of the documents, arguing that they did not comply with the provisions of Sections 83 and 84 of the Evidence Act. He further indicated his intention to address the Court more extensively on the points of objection at a later stage. Counsel to the 2nd Defendant, Aliyu, also objected, relying on the same statutory grounds. The prosecution counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, urged the court to discountenance the objections raised by the defence team and admit the documents in evidence. The court admitted the document, a 218-page statement of account of Alusha Services, signed by the witness, Mshelia Arhyel, and marked P1 en bloc. The prosecution asked similar questions posed to the same witness at the June 26, 2025 examination before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court. He reiterated that, prior to 2023, there was no strict withdrawal limit as long as the amount written on the cheque did not exceed ₦10 million. The EFCC counsel told the witness to examine the transactions of the 22nd, 23rd, and 25th of February, as well as the 3rd of March, 2016, up to 6th May, 2022. He confirmed multiple transactions of N10 million each but admitted they were within the approval threshold, putting the total transactions as at January 31, 2018 at N707,267,000. "Please confirm that, notwithstanding the multiple withdrawals made on the same day, they were all within the approved withdrawal threshold," prosecution counsel said. "Yes, my Lord," the witness responded. On the account statement of Aleshua Solutions Services and transactions from May 6, 2022, the witness said the first entry was a transfer in favour of Aleshua Solutions Services by B.O. Rosemary Chukwuma, in the sum of $2,500. "The second is a transfer in favour of Yau for $5,000. The third is also a cash transfer of $5,000 to Yau," he stated. The witness also confirmed certain transactions in December 2016 from the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, totalling N202 million. The judge indicated that the session must end at 3pm and adjourned the case to November 12 and 13, 2025, for continuation of examination of the sixth witness. The third prosecution witness had, at the preceding hearing, said no banking regulation was breached by the defendants. The witness, Williams Abimbola, a Compliance Officer with UBA, had also admitted not being the relationship or account manager of the Kogi Government House account, noting that the transactions were in line with stipulated guidelines.

The Ondo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has applauded the 18 local government chairmen of the state for keying into the grassroots development of the current administration in the state. The Ministry’s Commissioner, Alhaji Amidu Takuro stated this in Akure at a news briefing on the just-concluded inspection of 18 local government areas of the state by the ministry. Takuro noted that the local government chairmen had been able to provide some basic amenities within the district months in office. “ We are glad that the local governments are alerted to their responsibilities: some have built markets, provided solar power, potable water and fixed bridges as well as grading of rural roads. They have also been able to get our youth engaged in agriculture to guarantee food security and create employment. “ Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has keyed into the vision of President Bola Tinubu in ensuring that there is grassroots development because without this, even the centre will suffer for it. They are the ones that provide food for us. So, if we make them uncomfortable, there will be problems,” he said. The commissioner said that the 18 local governments had been able to save N15 billion in a joint account to carry out certain capital projects domiciled in their respective local government areas. He said that the Aiyedatiwa-led administration was making sure that the local government administration would be able to impact grassroots needs. Takuro recalled that the state government had partnered with the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the state anti graft agency to train chairmen and top management staff of local government on transparency and accountability. The commissioner said that the government has paid gratuities of local government retirees of 2010 to 2013 with sum of N12 billion, stating that the state governor felt the plight of retirees of local government in the state and decided to clear the backlog of gratuities unable to be paid by his predecessors. “ On gratuities alone, we have spent almost N12 billion to pay local government retirees between 2010 and 2013 because these people have provided their services meritoriously to the people of Ondo State. They have retired for many years and they haven’t been paid , though not under this administration but government is a continuum. “For ten to fifteen years, these people have not been paid and Mr Governor then called us to look at it and save money for the purpose of paying the retirees. “ Mr Governor is passionate about these people and has taken good leadership step to address the situation. By next week, we will pay the 2014 retirees of the local government as well,” he said.

.Commend initiative, quality of work so far Civil society organisations, opposition party figures and key stakeholders in the Nigerian business community have commended the Federal Government on the quality of work being done on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, and the commitment of the administration of President Bola Tinubu to infrastructure development/economic growth. The stakeholders, who were impressed by the level and quality of work done so far, spoke to journalists on the sidelines of a tour of the project in Lagos. According to them, Nigerians must rise above politics to support developmental efforts such as the coastal highway project, especially with the verification of the quality of work and huge economic benefits. The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, disclosed, during the tour, that the first section of the 750km highway project, which covers the stretch from Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos, to Eleko, Lagos, will be completed by May 2026. Umahi expressed satisfaction with the level of work executed so far by Hi-Tech, noting that a total of 35km had been completed, with 12km left for the Section 1 of the project. A policy expert, chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and convener of The Alternative, Otunba Segun Showunmi, said, "You cannot develop a nation without a long-term plan. You cannot sustain a long-term plan in a multi-party democracy unless you're able to build consensus around development. "To build consensus around development, it means you will listen with the intention of hearing, not just with the intention of criticising, and you will go and see with the intention of verifying... "What I have seen so far today is commendable, I must tell you. Beyond our political ideological differences, we need to, as a nation, breathe in and out to explore how to achieve a consensus to develop our nation. "When you look at countries like Singapore, India and UAE, their achievements have come through building consensus for national development. A nation at 65 must be in a hurry to link its infrastructure to model after other globally competitive economies.” “Nigerians must get the courage to build the kind of things that will position it as a country to turn the corner and go full throttle in investing in legacy infrastructure projects that will transform the economy," he added. Chairman, Proshare Group, leading financial information hub in Nigeria, Olufemi Awoyemi, specifically noted that the coastal highway project was a test case for big infrastructure projects and their financing. "This is an alternative, providing a primary route for cross-country connectivity, away from the current congestion, and a test case for big infrastructure projects and their financing," Awoyemi noted. One of the leaders of about 20 civil society organisations represented during the tour, Declan Ihekaire, said he was happy that he had been invited to join the Minister on the project tour. He said the work done so far and its quality must be commended by Nigerians. "We, as CSOs must not condemn everytime. When we see where they are getting it right, we should talk so that we encourage them. Ultimately, the beneficiaries of good initiatives are the people," he said. While briefing the press, the Minister of Works reinforced the value of concrete in building durable roads and was satisfied with its deployment for the coastal road. According to him, emerging economies like India have led in the use of concrete to build enduring roads. Umahi noted that the first section of the project covered 47km of the coastal highway, while work had already commenced on the second section. This, he said, would continue from Eleko, Lagos, to Ode-Omi, Ogun State. “In executing this project, we saved properties like the landmark centre and evacuated refuse in the axis with a depth of 10m to carry out the work and align the concrete to the roads. "I came to inspect the variations to the projects and the level of execution. We will also unravel the issues around the WinHomes and allegations of about $200m of diaspora investments in the real estate project. "We will involve the EFCC and DSS to investigate the matter alongside civil society organisations,” the minister stated. He, however, assured stakeholders that there would be periodic briefings and engagements with the media to provide updates on the progress of the coastal highway project. Apart from the 750-kilometre Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway; the Minister listed the other three legacy projects designed to connect the entire country to include the 477-kilometre Trans-Saharan Highway traversing Calabar, Ebonyi, Kogi, Benue, Nasarawa, the FCT; the 422-kilometre Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Expressway; and the 1,068-kilometre Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway. "We will continue to reiterate that roads and bridges are the infrastructure that build the GDP of every nation. And it is from this that the GDP of other sectors will grow. "President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has this knowledge; he has demonstrated it when he was Governor of Lagos State and you can see that Lagos State is an economy within an economy. "That is why we're doing everything possible to support that, to develop infrastructure according to his vision and mission," Umahi said.

My attention has been drawn to a baseless and unfounded write- up by a group of people who shared destiny with mischieve and aimed at assassinating the character of our principal- Barrister Banji Alabi. Whilst it was a fact that our Principal was once the chairman , Governing Council of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, owo, he left behind a legacy of goodwill , monumental human and infastructural developments enviable to all. It is unfortunate that in this part of the world, saints are not celebrated. It is also an eyesore that the writers of this trash could not dicotomise between the roles of a Governing Council from that of the Management of a tertiary institution. Ordinarily, a refutal would have been unnecessary going by the ignorance exhibited in the write up but for the personality of our principal,Barrister Banji Alabi and for the awareness of the reading public, it has become imperative to put the records straight. Barrister Banji Alabi emerged from a noble home with wealthy parenthood. His exposure earned him a personality that dignified Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo and made the institution a silicon Valley to its environment. During the corona virus, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo made unparalleled innovations which assisted the Ondo State Government to curb the spread of the deadly Corona virus, an apt, that singled out the institution in the comity of higher institutions in the state. History with events played out that during his chairmanship, student enrolment jumped up, disparity in school fees occasioned by evils of indegenisation stopped and protracted student unrest was nipped in the bud. Banji Alabi enjoyed good Management and Staff relations. His team on the Council was the best ever and since he exited the institution, the place had refused to sustain the laudable heights and the existing peace he left behind. It is rather unpatriotic of the writers to conjour self destructive imaginations they cannot defend. Iam not at a aghast in that in our environment achieving success and greatness comes with a price- the emergence of enemies. However, lions do not concern themselves with the opinions of dogs. The more the dogs bark, the less the lion feel disturbed. Banji Alabi Esq an amiable, ever smiling and focussed personality is always on top with patriotic ideas. The public is therefore enjoined to disregard the spurious, frivolous and juvenile write up orchestrated by enemies of progress. This should be a time for them to start thinking on how to build on the worthy historic legacies left behind by Banji Alabi Esq and stop chasing shadows. Barrister Banji Alabi, the immediate past Chairman of the Governing Council of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo ( RUGIPO) has refuted allegations of financial corruption during his tenure in the institution, stating that corruption was impossible during his tenure because of acute financial constraints. I am writing to respond to your recent article, which insinuates corruption during my tenure as Chairman of the Council of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic. I want to emphasize that these allegations are entirely unfounded and baseless. In fact, corruption was totally impossible during our time, given the financial constraints and transparent processes that characterized our administration. When I took over as Chairman, the school was facing significant challenges, including owing about 9 months' salaries to staff. This fact is in the public domain and speaks to the dire financial situation we inherited. Despite these challenges, our team made sacrifices and worked tirelessly to ensure the institution's progress. In many instances, I personally funded the school's activities from my own resources, demonstrating my commitment to the institution's growth and development. Yes, "On numerous occasions, I found myself in a position where my personal financial resources exceeded those of the school. After salary payments, the school's account would often be left with barely zero balance . “ I recall instances where the Rector would reach out to me, requesting financial assistance to entertain important visitors, as the school lacked the necessary funds. I would then generously support the school from my own pocket, underscoring my commitment to the institution's growth and development." The school's funding sources are limited to government subvention and school fees. Unfortunately, the government often falls short of paying up to 40 per cent of the subvention due to the school. The school fees, initially N35,000 ( thirty five thousand Naira) and later increased to N50,000 ( Fifty Thousand Naira) per annum, are hardly enough to sustain the institution. School Funding During late Aketi's Tenure: Transparency in Allocation During Aketi's time, the government would convene a meeting with all Ondo State stakeholders/unions, including the Polytechnic Owo union, after receiving federal allocations. The allocation would be shared among stakeholders, with the workforce aware of each institution's share. Union representatives would escort the funds to Owo, meet with the Rector, and jointly determine the percentage for worker compensation, factoring in school fees received. This transparent process left no room for impropriety, as every transaction was accounted for and overseen by multiple parties. Where's the opportunity for stealing in this transparent system?" The role of the Chairman of the Council is part-time, with meetings, every quarter - twice per quarter-limited to eight times a year. I did not participate in the day-to-day running of the school, which is the responsibility of the Rector. I did not sign any checks or operate the school's accounts, further eliminating any possibility of financial impropriety. The Council's role was limited to formulating policies and guidance for the school's smooth operation. Before the second coming of Governor Akeredolu, we borrowed money from First Bank to pay three months' salaries, which speaks to the financial struggles we faced. Governor Akeredolu was so pleased with this effort that he spoke glowingly of me. Regarding the visitation panel, I chose not to attend due to personal reasons . As a lawyer, I was aware of the legal implications and the fact that the panel was not properly constituted. The late Aketi, accused me of insubordination for not attending the panel, but I told him point-blank, why I won’t attend, I reminded him of our training as lawyers not to entertain injustices Notably, Aketi never accused me of financial impropriety, as there was no basis for such allegations. I want to emphasize that the team I worked with was comprised of highly respected and distinguished individuals, including one of our former First Ladies in Ondo State, the current Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Ondo North , a former member of the House of Representatives, a doyen of the University of Lagos, Immediate past commissioner of health of Ondo state , the current chairman of Owo Local Government council and a retired Major General of the Nigerian Army, among others. Their integrity and reputation are unimpeachable, and our collective efforts led to significant improvements in the school's facilities and operations. "Transformational Leadership: Building Excellence at RUGIPO Under my stewardship, we crafted an administration that stood out as a paragon of excellence among tertiary institutions in Western Nigeria. By leveraging our strategic connections with TETFUND and other federal agencies, we spearheaded unprecedented infrastructural development projects that catapulted RUGIPO to new heights. A hallmark of our tenure was the emphasis on meritocracy and transparency. We ensured that the system operated seamlessly, with no nepotism or favoritism. Notably, no member of my family benefited from any contracts awarded during our administration. I deliberately maintained a hands-off approach to contract awards, empowering the contract board to make decisions based on merit and value. This approach not only fostered a culture of accountability but also ensured that resources were utilized optimally to drive the institution's growth and development. Our commitment to transparency, coupled with strategic partnerships, yielded tangible results that continue to benefit the institution to this day." It's worth noting that I left the school about three years ago, and the problem of non-payment of salaries persists. This underscores the fact that the challenges we faced were systemic and not a result of corruption or mismanagement during my tenure. Furthermore, I find it curious that you claim to have spoken with me for over three years after the issue of my father’s house was resolved. I have not seen or spoken with you Sir I must correct you Sir ; I have not spoken with you, and I'm not aware of any conversation that would have taken place. Concerning Late Governor Akeredolu, I want to categorically state that he was not vindictive he didn’t marked my father’s house for demolition because of our disagreements , this is a misconception. The truth is that the former Mimiko administration of Ondo State had already acquired the property before Akeredolu's administration took office. My disagreement with the Governor did not influence his decision-making regarding the property, and I challenge you to provide evidence to the contrary. My background speaks for itself. I've never known poverty, having worked with one of the world's most largest and most influential multinational oil companies for 25 years. This tenure not only honed my professional skills but also afforded me the opportunity to attend strategic training programs at some of the globe's most prestigious institutions. My success is evident in my lifestyle. I reside in a zip code reserved for some of the most powerful and influential individuals in Nigeria and globally. This privilege is a testament to my hard work and dedication. The late Aketi, a respected figure, often came to my defense, highlighting my accomplishments. He'd say, "If people don't know you or your house in Lagos, at least they see the one in your hometown." This statement reflects his admiration for my achievements and the visible impact I've made in my community. "Many people were surprised by our (Late Aketi and I) renewed camaraderie, but for me, it was a natural progression. As a seasoned professional with a thriving real estate business and a fulfilling career as a lawyer, I didn't need the chairmanship to validate my worth. My focus has always been on delivering value, whether in public service or private enterprise. When the Governor relieved me, I saw it as an opportunity to refocus on my business and personal priorities. I've always been driven by a passion for excellence and a commitment to building a lasting legacy. With my father's business legacy to uphold and grow, I'm more determined than ever to make a lasting impact in my community and beyond." I urge you to consider the facts and retract your baseless allegations. I am proud of my service and the accomplishments of our team, and I will not let unfounded accusations tarnish our reputation. I have a message for our People today , Successful people build each other up , they motivate, inspire and push each other Unsuccessful people just hate, blame, and complain. 1. Always remember that you can grow without destroying others. 2. Always remember that your dreams can be fulfilled without sabotaging other people's dreams. 3, Don't let your inadequacies or failures motivate you to destroy other people's image and discredit their success and achievements in order to justify your own failures." 4. Don't let your shortcomings or failures drive you to undermine others' success; instead, focus on your own growth and celebrate their achievements." 5. Always remember that nobody must go down for you to rise – we can all rise. We can hold each other's hands and rise together. 6. Always remember that what you wish for others is a prayer for yourself. 7. Never use the position you occupy today to destroy others. Use your position to elevate and promote others 8. Never look down on others. 9 Be the good fire that lights up others – be the salt of the earth. 10: Never take delight in sponsoring pain for others and bringing tears to others. 11 Allow the truth of God to guide you. 12, Don't ruin other people's image and goodwill. MOMENT OF TRUTH (1) The world does not reward efforts; it rewards impact. (2) The people who rise are those who answer questions, solve problems, and meet real needs. Pharaoh never asked Joseph where he came from or the religion he practiced; he only cared about results, not credentials. (3) Joseph didn't have to lobby for the position; his solution made him indispensable. The world respects solutions more than origin. Every bias will disappear in the presence of real competence. If you bring undeniable value and competence, even the most powerful people won't question where you're from. (4) The key thing is value. Value is needed everywhere, and those who can provide it undeniably will excel. (5) The person who has what is needed now will be sought after. You are as valuable as the problems you can solve. (6) Always remember that the world doesn't reward efforts but value. You are as valuable as the problem you can solve. (7) Assignment: Tonight - I encourage you — Identify a gap and fill it up. You are as important as the problems you can solve. —- You will be on your way to the limelight - to be a celebrity , Your promotion is the next and I will be part of the celebration Please find attached here the record of our stewardship during our tenure as council: Kindly give this rejoinder the same publicity Thanks Sir Banji Alabi Esq
