I once made a post here regarding this, when engaging any artisan, ask questions about details of materials to be used. Ask to see samples if possible then do your research about the material type you're shown before you part with your hard earned money. Many homeowners just believe in their bargaining power but no artisan go work without making gains. But once you both have agreement on the materials to be used, any slight difference, just ask for your refund.
As for the burglary we have the conventional ones with rods concealed in a tube which is safer but costlier.

No need to screed it. Two quotes of primer and light sanding before your number of desired coats (finish) would make it come out well.

Making some renovations, changed the old windows to aluminum, and tried to protect the rooms from rain getting in during heavy downpours by installing these green roofs but it makes the whole place look odd and old school.

I think I might remove it and find a more modern way to stop rain from entering the rooms without the windows closed.

If the windows are done well, water will never enter no matter how heavy the rain is. As for the door, look for those into car port, let them do something nice and appealing for you

The best way to make decision in this kind situation is to put yourself in the other person's shoes. Be sincere with yourself and make the right decision cos no advice you get from here will be better than your own resolution. The country is hard, if not how much be bunch of bananas before now wey landlord go dey follow u drag. But as everywhere don red, landlord had no option. There are some things you just let go if not, you loss more. The stress of packing from your house to another house is more than 10 bunches of banana.

They are trying in terms of sensitization but when it comes to adopting stringent measures, implementation becomes difficult probably due to political will. Nigeria is such a special country

That's the issue I have with that building. The money spent on roofing alone (planks) would probably buy few more blocks. Why do people keep adopting high roofing systems these days. Some people don't have a justifiable reason for their actions oooo

Though the roof in the post is too high, moderately high roofs drains faster which in turns helps the longevity of the roofing sheet.

You're doing the right thing but facing the wrong direction. There are good and bad people in every city. So rather your investigation should be on the particular family the lady comes from. Do they have terminal or hereditary illness, do they treat their in laws nicely, will they always pamper their daughter at your brother's expense in case there is any challenge. What is their history, moral stand? These are many more questions are what you should be asking

If you want the bitter truth and desire to breakthrough from that path. Sit down and think about a craft you love, that you know you will do well in, I mean real handwork, mechanic, pop, bricklaying, carpentry/furniture, cement work, barbing, upholstery, tailoring..... The list is endless. Make a resolution that you want to invest all your strength into whatever you decide to learn even if hunger wan blindfold you. Within five years your story will change if you don't deviate from your plan.
All these 20k jobs are slavery. I'd rather work as a labourer thrice a week then use the remaining days of the week to pursue my dream than dedicate all my time to slavery.
I'm talking from personal experience. The earlier you take that bold step the better cos your kids won't listen to excuse.

However, everything in Nigeria is very substandard, something urgent needs to be done to address this.
I was once in this situation and my brand new fire extinguisher failed, over five more fire extinguisher from other motorist that came to intervene also failed, it was sand that good Samaritans around used to quench the fire when I have already lost hope of recovering the car.

God help us in this country 🙏

If I may ask,
where did you buy it?
who certified that it is okay for use?
How long have you kept it in your car?
Do you have the knowledge of how to use it effectively?
What is the size and type of the extinguishers you were trying to use?

Please don't be offended with these questions but until we start doing things right, we will keep of getting the same results.
For clarity, you can walk in to any fire service station around you to get orientation/ training about the right fire extinguisher for you car and how to use it in case of emergency free of charge. You can buy it anywhere you like but after purchase, take it to the fire station, let them certify that it's okay for use. Let me also add that those small 1kg cylinders can be useless in most emergencies. Make sure you have at least 2kg or 6kg in your car. The emphasis on the training is because car fires turns to inferno immediately the fire gets to the fuel line so the earlier it is tackled, the better. Also fire extinguisher kept for more than six months without servicing may fail at point of use. Regards
