No, you don't need to upload any documents to that section unless you have a designated representative you want IRCC to release your information to.

But for minor applications - in the case of minors 16 years of age and under, their parents can be their designated representative, and the consent form must be filled out and uploaded.

For optional documents, it is not necessary to upload ‘Optional Documents'; it means exactly what it says: uploading documents to this section is optional.

But if you feel that those mandatory documents’ you uploaded are somehow ‘weak’, and you feel that adding more documents to the optional document section will help your case to get the visa, then upload those relevant documents.

Since she is in Canada, she can consider flag polling by going to the closest Canadian - US border to convert her status.

However, she needs to present the following documents:
1) Her husband's letter of admission, letter of acceptance as well as letter of enrollment at the institution where he is currently studying.
2) Marriage certificate
3) Proof of financial means
4) Family pictures and other supporting documents to show their relationship/ties.
5) International passport

It is advisable that her husband goes with her based on the experience of those who had explored this route before.

I am currently filling the visitors visa application via the new portal and would like to know the appropriate placeholder to upload employers' letter of introduction and employment letter. The one i saw specifies letter of employment from Canadian employer, so I'm a bit confused here.

Thank you so much Olasubomy. It was during the trump era when refusals were just dished out by consulars anyhow regardless of whether you merit it or not. There was no strong reason for it as I complied with the terms of my US visa back then

It wont affect your application as long as you declare the refusal in your application . It also depends on the severity of the reason for refusal. It wont be an issue if it is just for normal inadmissibility concerns like proof of funds, home ties etc and you are able to proof in your Canada application that your situation has changed and improved.

A colleague of mine has a drop box appointment scheduled for June 2023. However, she got a "do not reply" mail from the US consulate few days ago that the appointment has been brought forward to March 2023.

A link was provided for her to follow to see details of the new appointment date but it fails to open on each attempt. Does anyone have an idea of what this is about or has a similar experience.

Pick up: 19th January 2023.

First 6mths visa was issued in July last year, travelled to UK once for 10days.

I was very surprised at the short processing time as I thought it will take up to two to three weeks.

It is good when you have a fixed deposit account because this will show that you have financial assets, but in making visa decisions, they like to see what is called "available funds." Available funds are money in a bank account that you have immediate access to, not necessarily a huge amount of money because the balance in my wife's account when she did her biometrics about 2 weeks ago for a 10-year visa was less than 2 million nairas.

I believe you will be fine because you have a travel history and you didn't overstay.

I am about renewing my visitors visa for 2yrs duration.

However, I have concerns around the balance in my salary acct. Asides my personal savings from monthly income, most of my funds are held in fixed deposit or mutual funds hence the low balance. I hope that the ECO will not rely solely on salary açct balances for arriving at a decision even though other supporting documents will be attached.

Note that my financial circumstances have improved from the last application and i visited the U.K for the exact number of days indicated in my last application.

Have you tried reaching out to TLS? It could be an administrative hitch on their part.

I will advise that you send them a mail to know the status, hopefully that may help.
