APC Presidential Primary: Buhari in early lead

With over 1,000 ballots sorted, out of the 7, 214votes at the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, a former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, has earned more ballots than his four other challengers.

Coming a distance second is the Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who seems to be performing way beyond expectation and appears to have earned more votes than former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, who is generally regarded as the most experienced politicians among the lots.

The Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, is also putting put some contest but he clearly lies in a distant fourth position behind Mr. Atiku, who seems to have gotten the third highest votes at the moment.

Not entirely surprising in fifth place is the Publisher of Leadership Newspapers, Sam Nda-Isaiah, who clearly is the less experienced politician of the lot.

Mr Nda-Isaiah is yet to get a ballot so far.

It is however early to award victory to any of the candidates at this time as there are still thousands of ballots to count.

Sorting is still ongoing and PREMIUM TIMES will continue to update you with happenings at the venue.

BREAKING NEWS: Muhammed Buhari Wins APC Presidential Primary
0
By NewsPunch on December 11, 2014 Announcement, Breaking News, Home, News, Politics, Report

Though, sorting is still ongoing at the national convention of All Progressives Congress, APC, but the obvious unofficial results from the sorting of votes have clearly signified the former Head of States, Maj. Gen. Muhammed Buhari (RTD) has already won the primary election.

The echo and resounding of the name, Muhammed Buhari by electoral committee sorting the votes signifies the ‘Peoples General’ as Buhari is fondly called has carried day.

Out of the total votes sorted so far, Buhari has earned to his sorting box over 90% of total vote sorted. A marging none of the co-aspirants can cover even with the remaining votes unsorted

Close to Buhari in the second place is the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and Imo State Governor, Rochas Owelle Okorocha are struggling neck to neck in the third and forth place, while Leadership Publisher, Sam Ndah had just one vote so far.

With Buhari’s emergence, despite yesterday’s dollarization of the the process by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, it is obvious, Nigerians are really ready to shun corrupt practices and follow their conscience in their quest for a true change of Nigeria State.

Former Vice Atiku Abubakar had yesterday stormed the convention ground with pocket full of United States dollars, offering each delegates $2,000 to $5,000 in exchange for their votes.

Nigeria is indeed hungry for change. The race to Aso Rock com 2015 now between the incumbent, President Goodluck Jonathan and Gen. Muhammed Buhari.

CareerRe: Why No Employer Will Invite You For Interviews by adeoladele(op): 11:49am On Dec 09, 2014
but you have to do your best and leave the rest
tebirim:
CV or no CV, if it is time for God to land you that great job, it will come like magic...
CareerWhy No Employer Will Invite You For Interviews by adeoladele(op): 3:12pm On Dec 08, 2014
I've heard lots of job seekers complain about employers not inviting them for interviews & I find that rather funny. Some even go as far as being precise, giving out number of applications put out in comparison to the number of interview invites they have received.

The fact that Nigeria is saddled with the burden of unemployment despite it's imploding population does not mean you cannot get yourself a job if truly you're doing it the right way. Now imagine a graduate who applied for different jobs all through a whole year with just a single CV. Awkward, isn't it? Or imagine a job seeker seeking for different job positions with a common CV. Ridiculous, I must say.

It's only a fool that expects different results while maintaining same input. Applying for jobs all through a year and not getting at least one invite clearly shows there is a problem somewhere, most times, the CV is the problem.

Now, take your time to read throught the list of tips on how to prepare a good CV and you may also find tons of possible reasons you don't get interview invites:

A CV is the most flexible and convenient way to make applications. It conveys your personal details in the way that presents you in the best possible light. A CV is a marketing document in which you are marketing something: yourself! You need to "sell" your skills, abilities, qualifications and experience to employers. It can be used to make multiple applications to employers in a specific career area. For this reason, many large graduate recruiters will not accept CVs and instead use their own application form.

What information should a CV include? What are the most important aspects of CV that you look for?
One survey of employers found that the following aspects were most looked for
•45% Previous related work experience
•35% Qualifications & skills
•25% Easy to read
•16% Accomplishments
•14% Spelling & grammar
•9% Education (these were not just graduate recruiters or this score would be much higher!)
•9% Intangibles: individuality/desire to succeed
•3% Clear objective
•2% Keywords added
•1% Contact information
•1% Personal experiences
•1% Computer skills

Personal details
Normally these would be your name, address, date of birth (although with age discrimination laws now in force this isn't essential), telephone number and email.

British CVs don't usually include a photograph unless you are an actor. In European countries such as France, Belgium and Germany it’s common for CVs to include a a passport-sized photograph in the top right-hand corner whereas in the UK and the USA photographs are frowned upon as this may contravene equal opportunity legislation - a photograph makes it easier to reject a candidate on grounds of ethnicity, sex or age. If you do include a photograph it should be a head and shoulders shot, you should be dressed suitably and smiling: it's not for a passport! See our Work Abroad page for more about international CVs

Education and qualifications
Some employers may spend as little as 45 seconds skimming a résumé before branding it “not of interest”, “maybe” or “of interest.
Your degree subject and university, plus A levels and GCSEs or equivalents. Mention grades unless poor!

Work experience
• Use action words such as developed, planned and organised.
• Even work in a shop, bar or restaurant will involve working in a team, providing a quality service to customers, and dealing tactfully with complaints. Don't mention the routine, non-people tasks (cleaning the tables) unless you are applying for a casual summer job in a restaurant or similar.
• Try to relate the skills to the job. A finance job will involve numeracy, analytical and problem solving skills so focus on these whereas for a marketing role you would place a bit more more emphasis on persuading and negotiating skills.
• All of my work experiences have involved working within a team-based culture. This involved planning, organisation, coordination and commitment e.g., in retail, this ensured daily sales targets were met, a fair distribution of tasks and effective communication amongst all staff members.

Interests and achievements
Writing about your interests
•Reading, cinema, stamp-collecting, playing computer games
•Suggests a solitary individual who doesn't get on with other people. This may not be true, but selectors will interpret the evidence they see before them.
•Cinema: member of the University Film-Making Society
•Travel: travelled through Europe by train this summer in a group of four people, visiting historic sites and practising my French and Italian
•Reading: helped younger pupils with reading difficulties at school.
This could be the same individual as in the first example, but the impression is completely the opposite: an outgoing proactive individual who helps others.
• Keep this section short and to the point. As you grow older, your employment record will take precedence and interests will typically diminish greatly in length and importance.
• Bullets can be used to separate interests into different types: sporting, creative etc.
• Don't use the old boring cliches here: "socialising with friends".
• Don't put many passive, solitary hobbies (reading, watching TV, stamp collecting) or you may be perceived as lacking people skills. If you do put these, then say what you read or watch: "I particularly enjoy Dickens, for the vivid insights you get into life in Victorian times".
• Show a range of interests to avoid coming across as narrow : if everything centres around sport they may wonder if you could hold a conversation with a client who wasn't interested in sport.
• Hobbies that are a little out of the ordinary can help you to stand out from the crowd: skydiving or mountaineering can show a sense of wanting to stretch yourself and an ability to rely on yourself in demanding situations
• Any interests relevant to the job are worth mentioning: current affairs if you wish to be a journalist; a fantasy share portfolio such as Bullbearings if you want to work in finance.
• Any evidence of leadership is important to mention: captain or coach of a sports team, course representative, chair of a student society, scout leader: "As captain of the school cricket team, I had to set a positive example, motivate and coach players and think on my feet when making bowling and field position changes, often in tense situations"
• Anything showing evidence of employability skills such as team working, organising, planning, persuading, negotiating etc.

Skills
• The usual ones to mention are languages (good conversational French, basic Spanish), computing (e.g. "good working knowledge of MS Access and Excel, plus basic web page design skills" and driving ("full current clean driving licence"wink.
• If you are a mature candidate or have lots of relevant skills to offer, a skills-based CV may work for you

References
• Many employers don’t check references at the application stage so unless the vacancy specifically requests referees it's fine to omit this section completely if you are running short of space or to say "References are available on request."
• Normally two referees are sufficient: one academic (perhaps your tutor or a project supervisor) and one from an employer (perhaps your last part-time or summer job). See our page on Choosing and Using Referees for more help with this.
The order and the emphasis will depend on what you are applying for and what you have to offer. For example, the example media CV lists the candidate's relevant work experience first.

When asked what would make them automatically reject a candidate, employers said:
• CVs with spelling mistakes or typos 61%
• CVs that copied large amounts of wording from the job posting 41%
• CVs with an inappropriate email address 35%
• CVs that don’t include a list of skills 30%
• CVs that are more than two pages long 22%
• CVs printed on decorative paper 20%
• CVs that detail more tasks than results for previous positions 16%
• CVs that include a photo 13%
• CVs that have large blocks of text with little white space 13%
•What mistakes do candidates make on their CV?
•One survey of employers found the following mistakes were most common
• Spelling and grammar 56% of employers found this
• Not tailored to the job 21%
• Length not right & poor work history 16%
• Poor format and no use of bullets 11%
• No accomplishments 9%
• Contact & email problems 8%
• Objective/profile was too vague 5%
• Lying 2%
• Having a photo 1%
• Choose a sensible email address!
• One survey found that 76% of CVs with unprofessional email addresses are ignored. Here are some (modified) graduate email addresses that you should NOT emulate!
1. death_metal_kitty@hotmail.com
2. demented_oddy@gmail.com
3. so_kiss_me@hotmail.com

CareerBuilder
If you are applying for more than one type of work, you should have a different CV tailored to each career area, highlighting different aspects of your skills and experience.

A personal profile at the start of the CV can work for jobs in competitive industries such as the media or advertising, to help you to stand out from the crowd. If used, it needs to be original and well written. Don’t just use the usual hackneyed expressions: “I am an excellent communicator who works well in a team…… “

Jesus vs. Muhammad Muhammad False Prophet

Jesus vs Muhammad

Here is a telling Jesus vs Muhammad comparison. While it would be simpler to declare that there is no comparison between Jesus and Muhammad, in many ways, as shown below, Jesus was the antithesis of Muhammad, or Muhammad the antithesis of Jesus. (The evidences for Jesus' and Muhammad's columns are footnoted below and linked, respectively.)

PoliticsState Of Jersey To Return £315 Million Abacha Loot To Nigeria by adeoladele(op):
The State of Jersey, the biggest territory in the Channels Island, is set to return to Nigeria £315 million stolen by a former military head of state, Sani Abacha.

The Ballif of Jersey, Michael Birt, stated this at a dinner in honour of Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK, Dalhatu Tafida, during a State visit to the Island.

Mr. Birt, who doubles as the Island’s Civic Head of State and ceremonial head, is the highest ranking official in the Jersey order of precedence.

The Island, famous for its transparent banking services, had previously repatriated in two tranches £140 million pounds of the loot.

The money was laundered on behalf of Mr. Abacha by Raj Bhojwani, an Indian businessman.

Mr. Bhojwani is currently serving an eight-year sentence in a UK prison.

Speaking on Jersey’s financial services and global perception of the Island, Mr. Birt said that the repatriated loot was in line with ongoing campaign against money laundering.

“We have done a lot to clean up the image of the Island as a safe haven for stolen wealth,” he said.

“What we have in place is a transparent and legal finance heaven where only legal funds can be deposited and accessed by investors,” Mr. Birt said.

In his response, Mr Tafida commended Mr. Birt for the Island’s transparent banking sector, and informed him of the Nigerian government’s commitment to fighting corruption and strengthening its anti-graft agencies.

The high commissioner also spoke on the investment opportunities in all sectors of the economy, while laying emphasis on the nation’s GDP, and high return on investment rate.

“The array of investment opportunities that abound in the country and generous incentives available to investors in all sectors of the economy, has continued to make it a global investment destination,” he stressed.

The dinner was attended by top officials from the Jersey government and members of Mr. Tafida’s delegation.

The visit marks the beginning of a bi-lateral relations with the Jersey.

Officials from Jersey are expected to carry out a similar visit to Nigeria. (NAN)

PoliticsBREAKING: Court Dismisses Bamanga Tukur's Suit Seeking Reinstatement As PDP Chai by adeoladele(op): 2:01pm On Dec 02, 2014
BREAKING: Court dismisses Bamanga Tukur's suit seeking reinstatement as PDP chairman

The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by a former Chairman of the governing Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] Bamanga Tukur, seeking the removal of his successor, Adamu Muazu, as the incumbent chairman of the party.

The trial judge, Justice Evoh Chukwu, dismissed the case on Tuesday morning after hearing arguments by parties to the matter.

Details of the judgment will come in our subsequent updates.

Mr. Tukur had in November dramatically joined a suit seeking to oust Mr. Mu’azu as the national chairman of the PDP, and demanded his reinstatement to the job.

Mr. Tukur resigned from office in January following campaigns mounted by party members that he should do so barely two years after his election at its convention in March 2012.

He was succeeded by Mr. Mu’azu who was merely appointed to the job by the party’s National Executive Committee.

But a member of the PDP, Aliyu Gurin, recently filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking Mr. Mu’azu’s sack and a stoppage of the party’s coming delegates’ convention slated for December 11 and 12.

Mr. Gurin, a House of Representatives aspirant from Adamawa State, contended that Mr. Tukur’s resignation did not comply with the provision of Section 47(5) of the constitution of the party.

The section stipulates that a 30-day notice be given to the National Executive Committee by a national chairman resigning from office.

Mr. Tukur was joined as second defendant in the suit while Mr. Mu’azu and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were 1st and 3rd respondents.

However, in a counter-claim filed at the court registry by his counsel, Adamson Adeboro, Mr. Tukur asked the court to grant an order to allow him return to office until 2016 when his four-year tenure ought to have expired.

The former national chairman argued that he was forced to quit the job to pave way for the return of some governors who defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC, to return to the ruling party.
The governors are Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Rabi’u Kwankwaso (Kano), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto) and Murtala Nyako (Adamawa).

Mr. Tukur, a former governor of the old Gongola State, said following the defection of the governors, the PDP leader, President Goodluck Jonathan came under pressure to sack him as national chairman to enable them come back.

He asked for an order to set aside his purported resignation letter of January 15 and restore him to his job as substantive and duly-elected chairman of the PDP.

He also asked the court to stop the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from further “recognising, permitting or allowing Mu’azu to preside over the affairs of the party”.

Mr. Tukur asked the court to declare his resignation and the appointment of Mr. Mu’azu null and void in line with Section 45(1) and (2) of the PDP constitution.

The former PDP national chairman had earlier asked the court to determine whether his purported resignation was in conjunction with Section 47(5) of the party’s constitution as amended.
He further asked the court to decide if Mu’azu’s appointment contravened Section 45(1) and (2) of the party constitution, Section 85(3) of the Electoral Act 2010 and Section 223(1) of the 1999 Constitution.

In a seven-paragraph affidavit in support of the counter claim deposed to by one Femi Ekperobe, the former national chairman said he stepped aside to enable the defected governors return, but that to his chagring, they are yet to do so 10 months after.

Mr. Tukur said even if he were to resign following pressure mounted on him, the party’s constitution demands that he should hand over to his deputy, who will act as national chairman pending the convening of a national convention where a substantive national chairman would now be elected.

He insisted that the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the party lacked the power to appoint the national chairman.

According to him, the votes and proceedings of the NEC meeting of January 15, the day he resigned, were a nullity.

He said his letter of resignation contravened Section 47 (5) of the PDP constitution.

Mr. Tukur said Mr. Mu’azu lacked the power to preside over the coming convention.

PoliticsRe: Breaking News!!! Bomb Blast In Kasuwa *monday Market Maiduguri* by adeoladele(m): 3:18pm On Nov 25, 2014
A military source told our correspondent in Maiduguri that the suicide bombers hit the market at 11:23am.

Craving anonymity, the source said on the telephone, “I can confirm that there were two suicide bombers, but they are a male and female. The first suicide bomber was a female and hid the bomb on herself which she detonated at the vicinity of the market.

“Just as the people gathered around her corpse and a few other people that died in the first explosion, a male, this time around, detonated the explosive on him which killed several people.

“No one can give you the exact casualty now but over 30 persons were killed and many have been rushed to the hospital.”

*****************************************************************************************

Two suicide bombers – a male and female – attacked a heavily populated Maiduguri market, killing scores of people, an eyewitness, Yusuf Ahmed, said on Tuesday.

An unconfirmed source said 65 corpses had been evacuated while others claimed 30 people were killed in the explosion.

Ahmed said on the telephone, “As I am talking to you, people are still trying to rescue the injured and evacuate the corpses. It is difficult to know the number of casualties.”

He said the place had been condoned off by security agencies making it difficult to assist in the rescue operations.

A youth vigilante source confirmed that the female attacker kept a parcel in one of the shops on One-way, a commercial area beside the popular Monday Market, telling the traders that she had something to pick from the market,

“The package detonated few minutes later. And as people were still wondering what happened and trying to rescue the injured, a bomber in the same area detonated a bomb planted on her; this claimed so many lives,” the source said.

Details later…

Another source claimed that the third bombing suspect was caught by the people. This also could not be confirmed as the police had yet to give an official confirmation of the explosion. source punch nigeria
