PoliticsNigerian Soldiers Are Well Armed But They're Cowards -boko Haram's Shekau Speaks by adeoladele(op): 2:50pm On Jan 22, 2015
Abubakar Shekau, the never dying leader of the Boko Haram terrorist group in a recent video discredited stories that Nigerian soldiers are ill equipped for the fight against terrorism; PREMIUM TIMES reports.

In the 36 minutes video, Shekau said, ''We thank God for making us enter Baga and Doro-Baga in victory. We have today declared Baga as part of our territory and one of our operational base. Jonathan you are in trouble. All governors of Nigeria are in trouble. All these war equipment that you see being displayed in the screen are gotten from Baga and Doro. Your army kept deceiving the world that you can’t fight us because you have no arms. Liars! You have all that it takes; you are just coward soldiers. You forgot that it is God that arms. Is it not amazing that we, who started with sticks and machetes, are today the biggest headache to the almighty Nigerian soldiers? What a shame!!.

''Jonathan is it not shameful that now even your supporters are insulting and causing you? This should be a sermon to the world that you should not trust in humans. Any one that trusts a man will end up regretting. This is just the beginning of the killings; what you’ve just witnessed is a tip of the iceberg; more deaths are coming. This will mark the end of politics and democracy in Nigeria. This is to confirm to you that we carried out the Baga massacre, and we are going to do more.

''Nigerians are busy with politics, hailing Buhari! Buhari, Jonathan! Jonathan! Do you think the two of them are spared? Do you think even Buhari is a good Muslim? Buhari is not a Muslim as far as we are concerned – He is nothing but an infidel and our enemy.

''Muhammed Yusuf, the president of Niger, so you too have the temerity of coming out to pay sympathy visit to the Francois Holland the President of France. Is this your true character? Muhammed Yusuf, you have amazed us. You shall soon see our wrath, very soon.

''And you, Paul Biya, the president of Cameroon. Now you are asking for foreign assistance; please don’t waste your time because God is more than all the help you will get. And even you Idris Debby, you are not spared. You guys have acted too late, very late.

Shekau concluded the speech by saying, ''I pledge to Allah, my God. To be Faithful Loyal and Honest. To serve Allah with all my strength. To defend his Islam… Allahu Akbar!! Nigeria is dead; her constitution is dead!! Islam and Islam; war by war upon the Kafir who is the unbeliever''.

It's unfortunate that people who support
Jonathan misrule to continue think they are doing
Buhari harm. The only harm being done is to
themselves and every other Nigerian. By 2019, our
country would have been completely sold to the
highest bidder and nothing will be left for us,
honest and hard-working Nigerians if u allow PDP

• If you hate Buhari because he is a Muslim, at
least look at his Vice, he is a Pastor. • If you hate
Buhari because he doesn't have a "Primary Six

his Vice, he is a Professor of Law. • If you fear
that as a formal military leader, Buhari may have
the tendency of not upholding the rule of law, then
look at his Vice, he is a distinguished Lawyer and
a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.• Even if you think
Buhari has nothing to offer, he cannot be as
hopeless, corrupt and harmful to Nigerians as
Jonathan's Government. !!• You have no reason to
allow this corrupt administration of GEJ / PDP to

cont.
Yet you hear the President say that the nation will appreciate him better after he has left office. I am sorry, but we have seen enough bloodshed and incompetence in the last six years to know there is nothing more to expect the next four years and we have seen enough to do an assessment right now and not in the future.
In all his campaign tours, the President is already sounding like a broken record. He says he has made the rails to function again. He mentioned this so much that you imagine that he was primarily elected to revive a few train lines. It sounds very funny when you hear such things, whereas the primary duty of government is the protection of lives and properties. If that primary duty fails, then the government has failed. It is like an undergraduate hoping to be promoted to the next level by barely scraping through the ‘electives’ and failing the core courses. It will never happen. So, is the President providing train coaches to be transporting the dead bodies from the North to the South? Are the trains to be occupied by living human beings or dead human beings?
Make no mistake about it, like the President always says, it is true that we have a rise of terrorism around the world. But, we have all seen how governments around the world respond quickly and decisively to any attempt for terror to rear its ugly head within their society and how they quickly crush it. We saw it happen in the United States after 9/11; we saw it happen in Britain after the July 7, 2005 bus bombing; in the last few days, we have seen it happen in France and in Belgium. In all these cases, all attempts were nipped in the bud. Even, here in Nigeria, previous governments have nipped insurgency in the bud. The ONLY government that has allowed it to fester, germinate and grow into a full-blown war leading to a successful secession of some parts of the country is that of President Goodluck Jonathan. It is so bad that hardly a day passes by without reports of one insurgent activity or the other leading to loss of lives and limbs.
The President is also quick to mention that his administration has made the Nigerian economy the number one in Africa. He forgot to mention two things, though; one, that some of the major sectors of the Nigerian economy, that is, the telecom sector, financial services and the Nollywood industry that were taken into account to re-base the economy were sectors not created or grown by his government. Secondly, he forgot to mention that the so-called re-basing has no impact at all on the ordinary Nigerian as the 2014 World Bank Survey still shows that Nigeria is ranked third among world top five poorest countries with sixty-one percent (61%) of its citizens living below $1.25 dollar per day. No government can boast of any economic growth or theory that does not have a direct impact on the lives of its ordinary citizens. It is like a father coming home to announce and jubilate about a pay rise and promotion at workplace, yet the wife and children cannot eat or live better many months later.
The Nigerian people have tolerated too much and taken too much battering from the PDP-led Federal Government since 1999. Under the Jonathan Government, the situation in the country has sunk to an all-time low, except for the few benefitting directly from the government. They are blind to criticism and blind to healthy opposition. They hurl abuses at anyone who dares to point out these acts of maladministration. In saner societies, the President will not be allowed to campaign in many parts of the country. The people will rise against him and chase his convoy away.
The clear alternative to this monumental mess is the person of General Muhammadu Buhari. Let us be clear that Buhari does not present the total package Nigerians want at this time. He is human, he is not perfect. But at this point in our history, at this time, at this moment, he presents the only viable option and avenue for the people to vent their frustrations and anger against an inept and clueless Federal Government. He represents the rallying point for the frustrated and teeming masses of our people. He reminds me of MKO Abiola (with some of his imperfections) who became the rallying point in the struggle against military rule.
That is the change we are talking about. It is not a change from imperfection to perfection. It is a change from hopelessness and cluelessness to some hope and to some expectations.
All the personal attacks on the person of Buhari in the last few weeks have only convinced me that he is the best available option at this time. Anyone on the weaker side in any argument always resorts to personal abuses and attacks. Have you noticed that on corruption, the only accusation against Buhari is that, he was too high-handed in fighting corruption in the past? In other words, nobody can/has accused him of lacking the courage, zeal and will to fight corruption. On the other hand, the President eats, sleeps and wakes up with corruption. In one of his famous interviews, he did not even see stealing as corruption. That is why he does not see the point why he should not appoint a person standing trial for corruption as his Director of Media and Publicity. He just does not care.
So, Nigerians, we must decide what we want. When Buhari fought corruption and was supposedly high-handed, he was ruling with Decrees. Now, he has the Constitution, the National Assembly, and the Judiciary without ouster clauses to guide him. It is therefore only an idiot that will believe the propaganda that he would throw everyone suspected of corruption into jail. I feel so sorry at times for the gullible masses of this country who fall for such cheap propaganda. But it is his type of appetite and revulsion against corruption that we so dearly need at this time.
You may say whatever you like about Buhari, but in terms of the character, the steel, the competence to lead the nation out of this period of insurgency, nobody can compare a Goodluck Jonathan to a General Buhari. Just imagine the Service Chiefs (who were probably in secondary school when Buhari and others fought the Civil War) sitting in front of Buhari to brief him about the situation in the North East, and attempting to mislead him about movements of artillery, brigades or troops and, the strategy against the enemy!
The attack on Buhari’s certificate is most unfortunate. Only fools can be deceived that a sworn affidavit in place of a certificate that you cannot readily produce is not sufficient for certain purposes. What is important is that the school(s) and dates are mentioned in such affidavits which can be subject to verification. But unfortunately the President’s team has carried on as if leadership is a function of academic degrees and qualifications. This is so sad. Leadership is a divine quality, almost always bestowed at infancy so much so that even in primary schools, we see traits of leadership amongst pupils. If it were not so, then there would be no need for elections. We should just look for the most qualified professor in our Ivory Towers and make him President because that would be the best material for President.
Besides, what moral right has Jonathan got to discuss Buhari’s certificate when I have since informed him that his Comptroller-General of Customs, Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko forged all his certificates, yet the President has not even ordered a simple investigation into the matter. He has turned a willful blind eye to the issue.
The orchestration of the age of Buhari is just another mischief, symptomatic of the weaker side the President’s team find themselves in the argument. Agility and strength and good health is not exactly a function of age. Yar’Adua did not die in power because he was an old man. Abacha did not die in power because he was an old man. Obasanjo ruled until he was seventy (70) years and it is the same set of PDP big wigs that are now criticizing the age of Buhari that were promoting and supporting the third-term bid of Obasanjo that would have taken him to, perhaps, seventy-eight (78) years as President. Today, Obasanjo still jumps about at nearly eighty (80) years or perhaps more. Professor Wole Soyinka, at over eighty (80) years, still travels everywhere, delivering lectures.
The relevant question here is that, is the age more important than the character or the character more important than the age? For those who are Christians, remember that the Bible says in Proverbs 16:31 that grey-headedness is a crown of beauty if found in the ways of righteousness. It is idiotic to deride an elderly person who is still agile and upright in character, instead of us praying that we live up to that age and we are blessed with such strength at such an age. During the Second Republic, the South-West and South-East massively voted for Awolowo and Azikiwe respectively who were both over seventy (70) years old, yet nobody raised an eyebrow.
Finally, this is not the time to adopt the herd mentality by joining the so-called “winning train” because the ruling party is always expected to rig elections in its favour. What we are witnessing with the large followership of Buhari is a revolution, a mass movement, a display of anger by the people against Jonathan and his government. This is a time for well-meaning Nigerians, the elites to rise up and speak truth to power, regardless of whose ox is gored. We can halt the slide to Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, etc by our simple votes. We must vote out incompetence, cluelessness and corruption.
The epitaph that will be left for the Presidential years of Goodluck Jonathan is this: HERE IS A PRESIDENT WHO DESTROYED PDP AND ALMOST DESTROYED NIGERIA.
I have purged my conscience. Now, I can sleep.

Keyamo Explodes: Between Jonathan Versus Buhari - Here Is A President Who Destroyed PDP And Almost Destroyed Nigeria
Muhammadu Buhari and President Goodluck Jonathan This is a season of hire-wired deceits, misinformation, campaign of calumny and spewing of outright falsehood and lies – all to hoodwink and deceive ordinary and gullible Nigerians for their votes.
I am not worried about these antics of the politicians. It is their way. For them, their business is politics and their politics is business. No scruple. My real worry is that many Nigerians who are the elites can see through some of these outright falsehoods but have decided to sit on fence and keep an embarrassing silence. They forget that millions of ordinary Nigerians who are confused and hoodwinked by these falsehoods and who do not have access to facts depend on their voices and guidance to make their choices. This is, therefore, a message directed at those silent Nigerian elites who should speak up at this time. For me, I have decided that enough is enough. This is the time to speak up.
Unfortunately, many of our elites do not want to speak up now because they do not want to be caught on the wrong side of any government in the next four years; they prefer to play safe, not wanting to be tarred with the brush of partisanship. But, I ask: what is wrong with partisanship in a country where you and your children have a huge stake? What is wrong in speaking up and standing up for what your conscience tells you is the right thing to do? What is wrong in being caught on the wrong side of the government in the next four years, if only you would be caught on the right side of posterity?
Except for a few class of persons like INEC officials, security agencies and those on the Bench, every other Nigerian has a duty - yes, a duty - to speak up now for our country, and to come down from that fence on which they are sitting regarding the 2015 general elections. Those elites who do not speak up now for fear of being branded partisan and losing face upon defeat are enemies of the people who are looking up to them for guidance.
My message to those silent elites today is that whilst they are sitting on the fence, people are being killed like flies in some parts of the country on a daily basis; whilst we are on that fence, our foreign reserves are going down, corruption is growing like cancer, poverty is growing even in the face of dubious economic theories and figures, and we continue to live without adequate power supply. Yet, those who should speak truth to power are sitting on the fence in anticipation of personal gains. I am sorry, but today I have come down from that fence because my buttocks are already hurting from sitting on it.
Do not forget that I am from the Niger-Delta region and all my close friends and associates are the main supporters and aides of Mr. President. Two or three Governors who are either my former classmates or colleagues are the main backers of Mr. President. It is so easy, so convenient and so seemingly logical for me to get into that political mix and forget about the good of my country for personal gains. The disgusting message we hear all over the streets of that region every day at this time - promoted by the hirelings of the President – is that Goodluck Jonathan is “our son”, so we have no choice but to support him. In fact, I see some of my “brothers” from the Niger Delta region these days strutting all over the place, denigrating people from other regions. It is typical of what the Yorubas call “omo oju ori ola ri” (a person whose eyes have not seen wealth before).
But the question I ask those who tell me such nonsense and behave in such a manner is that, after the next four years, what is next for us? Is our entire future and that of our children dependent on a South-South President for the next four years?
Kindly note that in getting down from the fence and speaking up at this critical time, I do not mind if you speak up for Goodluck Jonathan. Yes, you have a right to do so as a Nigerian. But, as an elite, your stand must be known so that when the massacres continue because of cluelessness, when the unrestrained stealing of our public resources continue, when darkness continues to befall the nation because of lack of power, it is important we all remember those who betrayed their conscience and the people because of ethnicity and self-aggrandisement and for posterity to record it as such.
We have a President who has no single appetite to fight corruption – yes, none. Imagine a campaign that is dominated by the theme of corruption, yet the President has decided to appoint a person facing trial for money-laundering as his Director of Media and Publicity. If nobody would say it, I will say it because I am the one prosecuting the fellow in court and the case has been adjourned to February 23 and 24 for trial. Part of the lies told is that the fellow has been freed whereas some of the counts in the Charge were just struck out and the court held that he has a case to answer on some other counts. Yet nobody is asking the President these hard questions.
The President only mouths anti-corruption. The other day (December 23rd, 2014, I think) the President said he would like to erect a Hall of Shame for Nigerians who engage in corrupt and unwholesome activities that bring the country to disrepute. But he was the same person who brought a convicted criminal, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, out of the Hall of Shame to the Hall of Fame by misusing his power of Prerogative of Mercy when he granted pardon to this self-confessed ex-convict. Imagine the pain, the efforts and resources that go into securing a single conviction for corruption in this our clime. Yet, the President decided to spoil the party for anti-corruption campaigners. On top of that, he displayed corruption within corruption by selective pardon when the likes of Tarfa Balogun, Lucky Igbinedion and others who were convicted about the same period did not enjoy his Presidential pardon.
Yet nobody is asking these hard questions on the campaign trail. The funny thing is that, nearly six years into his tenure as President, Goodluck Jonathan said the other day that he is just coming up with a plan to tackle corruption!! Haba, Jona !
To add insult to injury, President Goodluck Jonathan decided to tackle the corruption of stealing of our resources in the high seas by empowering small-time crooks and criminals to police our waterways. This is because he has no idea as to how to revamp, re-organise and re-invigorate the Nigeria Navy to perform its constitutional duty. These days, it is an eyesore to see our military chiefs and officers kowtow to these empowered small-time crooks and criminals for appointment and promotions and other privileges. The disaster about this initiative of empowerment of crooks and criminals is that crude oil theft has never been so high, so rampant in the annals of this country than it is now. Why? Because the President has put a rat as a watchman over a morsel of fish. It is sad to say, but the President, by his actions, has shown no spine, no appetite, no nerve to fight corruption. He just continues to sink into an abyss of moral debauchery.
The other tragedy of this President is that, even as he is on the campaign trail, in the last one month, the omnipresent insurgents have attacked towns like Baga, Damaturu, Biu, Askira-Uba, Konduga, Marte and Gombe. Even as we speak, the Boko Haram insurgents are in total control of the whole of Borno State except Maiduguri, Monguno, Dikwa, Konduga and Biu. The insurgents are in total control of towns like Baga, Bama, Gwoza and Banki.
Before Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, Boko Haram was nothing but a rag-tag group of extremists living in enclaves like Sambisa, while our proud military boys patrolled the towns. Now, under Jonathan, the reverse is the case. Our military boys are now in enclaves while Boko Haram patrol our towns. Is it not shocking that insurgents have a free reign to enter cities, abduct young girls like in Chibok, burn houses like in Baga, slaughter people for hours like in Konduga, Gwoza etc, yet our military men are nowhere to be found and they do not even give hot pursuit to the retreating insurgents? What is really going on?
One obvious flaw is that our President has lost control of the military and the top hierarchy of the military is merely feeding fat on this unfortunate situation and the President seems to be totally helpless in the face of this.
The only response the President and his handlers can proffer is to hide this glaring and crass incompetence under political gymnastics; they blame the opposition on the one hand and in the same breath, they say it is a world-wide trend and Nigeria is just having its fair share of a global malaise. Is this true? As President, you are the Commander-In-Chief. If you have evidence against the opposition, just come out with it and arrest the ring-leaders. Do not cry like a baby as Commander-in-Chief. Deal with the situation. That is why you occupy that seat. Till date, no single evidence has been produced against any of the opposition leaders linking them with the insurgency. Rather, what we see is a President who is supposedly bent on fighting insurgency but who is wining and dining with someone who has been directly linked with sponsoring the insurgents and even traveling with such a person to Chad at a time when the State Security Services officially invited that person to answer questions relating to the insurgency.
Another calamity and embarrassment is that our President, his Service Chiefs and security advisers were all led into wasting public funds by entering into a phantom cease-fire deal with fake Boko Haram leaders that left them with bloodied noses. Not to also mention the short-lived public celebration of the supposed killing of the Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, by the President and his security team, only for the outlaw to appear in subsequent videos posted online, taunting the Nigerian government. Any four more years of a Jonathan Presidency can only lead to more carnage by the insurgents. He just does not have the requisite capacity to tackle this problem of insecurity. The truth must be told.

PoliticsCardinal Onaiyekan Wants Fiery Cleric, Mbaka, Sanctioned Over Comments On Jonath by adeoladele(op): 9:16am On Jan 07, 2015
Cardinal Onaiyekan wants fiery cleric, Mbaka, sanctioned over comments on Jonathan

The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Onaiyekan, has called for sanctions against a Catholic priest, Ejike Mbaka, who publicly urged Nigerians to vote President Goodluck Jonathan out.

Mr. Onaiyekan was quoted by Thisday newspaper as saying that based on the rules of the church, Reverend Father Mbaka, who heads the Adoration Ministry congregation in Enugu, ought to be sanctioned for his outburst.

He criticised the cleric for going overboard in his sermon and insinuating that the Jonathan administration is plagued with “bad luck” and poor performance.

Father Mbaka had on December 31, 2014, told Nigerians to use the forthcoming general election to vote Mr. Jonathan out.

Speaking to thousands of parishioners, he said the president had failed to stem the tide of insecurity and corruption in the country.

Mr. Mbaka said that although Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate is a Muslim, he would bring the needed change in Nigeria.

Cardinal Onaiyekan disassociated the Catholic Church in Nigeria from Father Mbaka’s statements.

“Mbaka will take responsibilities for his own actions. I do not believe in my mind that the way things are in Nigeria, any Catholic priest has the mandate to decide which of the political contestants should be voted for,” Cardinal Onaiyekan said.

“What most of us will do is to tell people to vote according to their conscience and then, we tell the authorities to allow people to vote freely and fairly.

“Like I said, Mbaka is a priest of his own type. If he was in my archdioceses, I would have sanctioned him long ago for the kind of things and utterances that he makes.

“But, he is not under my diocese; he has a bishop to handle that if there is any need. I hope that people are not thinking that we are sending Mbaka to talk rubbish.

“If you want to hear anything even not official but at least, authoritative, then, you listen to the bishops. Rather than him and I don’t see any bishop talking that way,” said the Cardinal.

He, however, cautioned the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, to desist from campaigns of calumny.

Despite the prophecies of doom ahead of the 2015 elections, Cardinal Onaiyekan said, “PDP and APC have no right to disorganise Nigeria.”

The President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigam, had also said Father Mbaka’s remarks never represented the position of the Catholic Church of Nigeria.

He said the fiery Enugu priest merely numbers among the over 30 million Catholic faithful in the country, adding that the official position of the church can only be communicated through the Bishops Conference.

Opinion: Buhari, Osinbajo And The Nigerian Duty Call

Our dear nation is not going to get a Messiah who will come and make all things perfect. The one and only Messiah there is has come already and is coming again. (Now that is another line of my profession.)

What we can get however are dedicated mortals who have a sure resolve to do the noble thing it takes to fix Nigeria. By this I mean, people of character, of competence who are equally able and ready to strike the political alliances necessary to orchestrate a truly reformatory government and a morally reinvigorated society. It will take more than desire, declarations and denials of the true state of things in the nation. Desire must be matched by will, and will, must be backed up by sustainable goals and verifiable actions on a fairly regular and consistent basis.

In fact we as Nigerians may not just get our most ideal candidates and individuals to take the reins of government and bring about the changes. That is often left in the realm of utopia. Nigerians also don’t seem to be cut for a revolutionary overturning of things. Not that such by itself can automatically deliver the Nigeria of our dreams. As history has shown us, revolutions and such dramatic overturns of a political class, has its own way of pandering to new weaknesses and going in different directions from those the revolutionaries had advocated.

What it seems Nigeria can get and should get is an installmentally progressive political class which can sustain the quest on an ongoing basis until major remedies in the body politic, and socio-economic fabric of the country are in place. We have seen examples of this in a few States across the land with some governors leading the pack even in this last 15 years of civil rule. The democratic space is certainly forging itself out by hook or crook as the nation enjoys its longest stretch so far of uninterrupted civilian rule in Nigeria’s history.

Now that we have before us another presidential election in about a month’s time, it is important for us as a nation and a people to understand what the Nigerian duty call is saying.

That call is not for the perfect candidates. There will be none. That call is not for angelic politicians clad in celestial robes, for there will be none. But that call is also not for those who have tried all they could do in the last several years and have shown the limits of their capacity. Nigeria should not have to be further delayed because of the sheer limitations of human beings as revealed and clearly well-known at this point.

I speak of our President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, the first PhD holder to keep that high office. He is not a bad man. He has his own strengths and his own weaknesses. I will not deny him his fair share of credits if I see conclusive proofs in specific instances of growth and developments that have been recorded in the 6 years he has held sway in Aso Rock. But our dear brother and incumbent president has already tried his best. And the issue is that there is nothing new we can reasonably expect of him as president.

I am arguing that 6 years is enough to showcase your resolve, your vision, your ideas, your competence, and so on. Dr. Goodluck has nothing left to offer Nigeria short of needlessly sitting out and whiling away time in Aso Rock. We are therefore left with option of General Muhammadu Buhari and Professor Yemi Osinbajo. And this option is quite a worthy one.

Personally speaking, Dr. Goodluck has done a woeful job in two critical areas and this is why someone like me is not sitting on the fence on this election cycle. One is the breakdown of law and order in the northeastern parts of Nigeria. Whatever we have to argue about the details of the problem, the buck stops at the desk of the president. He must take responsibility.

When an administration can no longer secure the life and property of its people and terrorism attacks become as constant as daybreak, Nigeria needs to try another hand. When a presidency continues to fumble and gamble on the fate of over 200 schoolgirls whose abduction shocked the world, then it is critical to facilitate change of leadership. The yet-to-abate Boko Haram terror spree and the inability of the Jonathan presidency to curtail or curb the evil is the most devastating nailing point for him and his party’s 16 years of occupation in Aso Rock.

Secondly, it is a disgrace that corruption has now become one of the abiding ‘institutions’ of state and nation in Nigeria. It does not need too much of an argument as most Nigerians can easily agree about the rot that corruption has brought about in several facets of our live as a nation and people.

Few instances here will suffice. We have serious allegations about intense corruption in the oil sector, especially in the activities of the Petroleum Ministry. Very damning scandals have been alleged, yet the president ignores the matter. Under this presidency, a federal government agency perpetrated a murderous scheme where poor Nigerian youths were scammed in a money-for-job interview scandal, yet the President never considered a serious probe or fire the minister or any senior official who masterminded such a disastrous contrivance!

Besides, what message did the presidency expect people to perceive when he pardoned the former governor of Bayelsa State, who by that time was the global face of Nigeria’s political class corruption? And why would you do that at a time that you needed to show your resolve to fight corruption? I am not opposed to redemption; in fact as a preacher of the gospel, this is a central point in my ministry. But change and a turning away also needs to happen, apart from the time factor, which was lavishly miscalculated in the case of said former Governor.

We could also talk about the management of the economy with the recent depreciation of the Naira and the bad news that Nigeria is again budgeting to spend about a quarter of its income on debts!

Now on the other hand, the Buhari-Osinbajo ticket offers tremendous strength in the two most important areas of the nation’s need today and the failing points of the Jonathan presidency.

But there is a full disclosure: I have written critically of General Buhari in the past. But next month by the grace of God, he will get my vote! What has changed? In my judgment, General Buhari has redeemed himself and has been redeemed from many of the errors of his past. Like I wrote about the former head of State eleven years ago of his political challenges after he lost the 2003 presidential polls “only he can resurrect (his politics) if he chose.” I can now say he has actually done so now, and brilliantly too.

Even then, none of Buhari’s problems as a politician or public official bothered on corruption today or in the past. I reject the attempt to tar his unassailable record in that area. It is a very simple proposition: in today’s Nigeria’s political class as it is presently constituted you will not get many cleaner politicians that we know, especially among his peers.

By that I mean, among his contemporaries, i.e. those who have had a part in governing Nigeria in the past and those who are sufficiently prominent enough to offer themselves reasonably for national office, Buhari is in the topmost ranking when it comes to honesty, discipline and personal integrity. I concede that the Nigerian situation will need more than those. Yet that is a wonderful start for a leader who can assemble a serious, competent and character-intensive leadership team. Buhari can lead our dear nation back to a time of national order which the widespread corruption of the day has done so much to erode.

Equally, of the two leading candidates, we have in next month’s presidential vote, Buhari is the one who can take fresh shot at the insurgency in the northeastern parts of the country. Not just that he was a General, but he has had specific successful experience in dealing with the same extremist Islamic fundamentalism in the past. I reject claims that Buhari is a religious fundamentalist. Yes, he has been quoted in the past expressing certain insensitivities, but that is not enough to label him an Islamist extremist.

In the past, he was tyrannical because he was a military ruler for a while. But so, too, is former President Olusegun Obasanjo. And in any case, Buhari has been steadily evolving as a savvy political player in that he is building new alliances with past opponents indicating his personal democratic maturity. He has had his fair share of dissent since after he was removed by the same forces that brought him to power, up till the early 2000 and beyond when he started campaigning for president in a civil rule setting. But Buhari’s ability to eventually work to build a formidable opposition party in the APC with the likes of redoubtable politicians like former Governor Bola Tinubu, Governor Rotimi Amaechi and several others across ethnic and religious divides is nothing but a resounding credential we cannot deny him.

Finally, the choice of Professor Yemi Osinbajo as a running mate is simply a masterstroke. For me, when Buhari picked Pastor Tunde Bakare in 2011 as his running mate- it was a turning point in my estimation of who Buhari is politically. There and then he won my heart and changed my own perception of him. He was already a changed person and politician by then. But now that he has even gone further to choose a pastor for the second consecutive time, Buhari has earned my support for next month.

Osinbajo’s huge personal credibility, comprehensive professional competence and formidable political grouping are assets that a Buhari presidency will cherish if and when God grants the grace of victory in the next presidential elections. No one can reasonably deny the fact that Professor Osinbajo is one of the best visionary technocrats and good men and women who have been involved in public service since the return of civilian rule in Nigeria in 1999.

The conclusion of the matter is this: Buhari and Osinbajo don’t have to be Messiahs. But they are both dedicated men who have a sure resolve to do the noble thing it takes to fix Nigeria. Both of them are persons of exemplary character, of competence who are equally able and ready to strike the political alliances necessary to orchestrate a truly reformatory government and a morally reinvigorated society. That is what the Nigeria duty call is asking for today. Our incumbent president has become the face of the status quo that has not fulfilled our minimal yearnings and expectations in the last six years. We should “celebrate” him away!

I pray u will understand bloody religion
Abuamam:
Nameless muslim 'priest' knows less of the Qur'an than my 6 year old son. I wonder what he was teaching them in the nameless 'parish' mosque where he worked in a nameless location.
There is a tendency to believe that which gives us comfort and joy. Lack of evidence, or evidence to the contrary is not a barrier. The only barrier to gullibility is logic and intelligence.

PS: even if a thousand muslim 'priests' changed to whatever the latest polytheistic sect is in vogue, in Islam we do not blindly follow 'charismatic' leaders, nor do we have any intermediaries between us and our Creator. The original sources are there for us to read, and God gave every individual a brain to ponder. So don't waste your time fabricating this nonsense. It only works on the extremely gullible.
Christianity EtcShocking News: The Ex-muslim Priest Said That ”all Muslim Must Change To Christi by adeoladele(op): 10:33am On Dec 19, 2014
While I was working in a muslim mosque as an imam, as a parish priest, I preach in my parish that Jesus Christ is not God, for me, God was only Allah, and I believed Allah never got married, so no sons for Allah. So I preached there that Jesus is not God. Then somebody ask me, who is Jesus?’’ from the crowd. Maybe a muslim, but he asked me, who is Jesus?’’ I was preaching he is not God, but the question is who is he? To know who is Jesus? I read the entire Koran once again: 114 chapters, 6666 in the Koran when I read it, the name of prophet Muhammad. I found it in Koran 4 places, but the name of Jesus I found in 25 places. There itself, I was a little confused. Why does the Koran give more preference to Jesus? And second thing, I could not see any woman’s name in Koran: the Prophet Muhammad’s mother’s name, or wife’s name, no, in the Koran, there is only one woman’s name that i found is Mariam, the mother of Jesus no other woman’s name. And in the holy Koran chapter 3, the name of the chapter is family of Mariam,’’ and holy Koran chapter 19, the name of the chapter itself is ‘’MARIAM’’ one chapter is ‘’MARIAM’’ so I was very curious to know why does Koran says all these things about MARIAM, holy Koran chapter 3 verse 34 onwards says that Mary was born without original sin, she never committed any sin in her life, she was ever virgin.
Koran chapter 50 verses 23 say that she went to heaven with her physical body. Even the assumption is writing in the holy Koran and then about Jesus, when I read chapter 3 verses 45 to 55 verses, there is 10 point which the Koran makes about Jesus. The first thing Koran says (kallimatulli) the arabic word which means ‘’the of God’’ and second thing is ( ahimokuli ) which mean spirit of God and the third (isa masi) which means Jesus Christ so Koran give the name for Jesus WORD OF GOD, SPIRIT OF GOD, JESUS CHRIST. And then Koran says that Jesus spoke when he was very small, like 2 days old. after his birth he began to speak , Koran says that Jesus created a live bird with mud. He took some mud, he formed a bird; when breathed into it, it became a live bird. So I think Jesus can give life because he gave life to mud, clay, and then Koran says that Jesus cured a man born blind and a man with leprosy, e.t.c
Curiously, the Koran says that Jesus gave life to dead people; Jesus went to heaven; he is still alive and he will come again. When I saw all these things in the Koran I taught of what Koran says about Muhammad, according to the Koran, prophet Muhammad is not the word of God, not spirit of God he never spoke when he was 2 days old, he never created any bird with mud, he never cure any sick people, he never raised any dead people, he himself died, and according to Islam he is not alive and he will not come back. So there is a lot of different between these two prophets. I didn’t call Jesus, God, you know my idea was ‘’He is a prophet but he is a prophet greater than Muhammad; so one day I went to my teacher, the one who taught me 10 years in Arabic college, and I ask him, teacher, how did God created the universe? Then he said God created the universe through the word,’’ THROUGH THE WORD. Then my question is: ‘’WORD’’ is creator or creation? He must clear this, my question is whether the WORD of God is creator or creation. Koran says Jesus is WORD of God. If my teacher says word of God is creator, which means Jesus is the creator, then muslim must become Christian suppose if he says the word is creation he will be trapped. You know why? He said everything was created through the word. Suppose if he said the word is creation, then how did God created the word? So he cannot say that the word is creator, or creation, so he was quite angry he push me out of his room and said word is not God, not creator or the creation you get out of here, ‘’he said
The reason why Muslim doesn’t accept to be Christian is because they are blinded with the wrong teaching of their priest, Imam. They said that the word is creation they try to prove it wrongly…… they say the word is not creator, not the creation, but not God. And no creation also. They don’t equal with God, that all their problem. So when he said that I told my teacher, word is not the creator or the creation.’’ So, that is why Christian says the word is son of God. Then he told me if there is son for God, I must show him the wife of God. That without wife no chance of having a son then I showed him a portion from the Koran. Koran says that God can see without eyes, God can talk without tongue, God can hear without ears. It is writing in the Koran. I said if that is the case, so God can have a child without a wife. I took my Koran, I put it on my chest, and I said ‘’Allah’’, tell me what I should do because your Koran says Jesus is still alive, and Mohammad is no more. Tell me whom should I accept.’’ after my prayer I opened the Koran, I didn’t asked anyone, I asked only my Allah. When I opened Koran, I saw chapter 10 verses 94. You know what Koran says? It says if you have any doubt in this Koran which I give to you, go and read the Bible, or ask the people, those who read the Bible. The truth is already revealing that.
I beg all muslim to give their life to Christ because he is the only way to the kingdom of God. Please don’t perish like other muslims that is serving the god they do not know. I welcome you into Christ Jesus as you change your mind to accept him today. God bless you.

PoliticsWhy I Withdrew From APC VP Position – Tinubu by adeoladele(op): 4:43pm On Dec 17, 2014
I am a Nigerian who loves his country and am hopeful about what it can become. I have seen and conducted myself as a patriot long before I thought of myself as a politician. I shall always walk this line and no other.

After all the political calculations are made and the dust of competition has settled, it must be this nation and its people who stand first and foremost. The question becomes whether we stand strong, able to shape ourselves into our best future or will we stand frail and trembling, burdened by the abject failure to surmount the multiple problems confronting us.

It is against this backdrop that I assess any action I take. Here I come to my name being placed in consideration as the Vice Presidential candidate for our party, the APC. I have laboured hard to move this party from being merely an idea in the minds of a few into being a political organization that might win this election and govern the nation in way that gives the people the hope and opportunity they seek. Nothing is more important to me than to realize this dream not for myself but for the people of this land I so love.

I helped to build this party, giving no thought to seeking an elected office because of it. My contribution to the party was never based on the expectation of a later political handout. Nigeria is in trouble and we are well past the moment for such narrow, selfish games.

There came a time during the course of the events when our Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari offered the Vice Presidential slot to me. Being a normal human being, I was deeply moved and honored that he would consider me for the position. Being a patriot, I had to weigh my potential candidacy in all of its dimensions.

I have concluded that the interest of the party, our campaign and of the nation are better served if I retain my position as the National leader of the APC, allowing me to be a bridge builder across all divides. Although, I declined the position, I want to thank General Buhari for extending the honor to me. Despite all the noise and opposition around my possible selection, he stood firm and steadfast. He showed the traits of a leader in holding to a decision he believed was right despite the errant plots against it.

When my name was raised, the political hatchet men tried to chop it down with rumor and lies. Over the years, I have developed a thick skin. The personal attacks did not bother me. I am used to them. While I have a thick skin, I don’t have a thick mind. There has been one form of attack that has troubled me. That is the attack based on religion. The PDP and others have stoked fear of a Muslim- Muslim ticket.

I have removed myself from consideration so what I now say cannot be seen as self-serving. I plead with the people of this nation to never allow the power lust of cynical politicians to set brother against brother, neighbor against neighbor. If you look at those politicians who raise this issue the most, they are the least devout and faithful to any religion other their self-interests.

Nigeria has too many secular problems – insecurity, economic collapse, poverty , corruption and misgovernance – to allow inept people to use religion to keep us from solving these challenges for the benefit of all.

Those who exploit religion should be wary. For there really is a God and he does not like it when you play with his people or use His name to do the opposite of what He intends.

I ask the people to remove religion from the electoral equation now that the tickets of both parties are mixed. I ask you to select the ticket best able to end the downward slide that Nigeria has endured since this government took over. I ask you to remember that too many Christians and Muslims are poor. Most of all, I ask you to remember that the true religion of the PDP is poverty, APC come to bring prosperity to the people. Please vote for that.

The Nigeria I see is a nation that shall overcome. The Nigeria I see is a nation ready to sweep aside the broken ways of our recent past and the government and politicians who impose distress upon us. The Nigeria I see and seek is one where each person, every man, woman and child may live free of terrorism, free of the despair of poverty and free of the fear that the government meant to serve and protect them has turned its back to them in cold and utter indifference.

I see and seek a Nigeria where progressive democratic governance creates the political and economic space needed for each of us to contribute to rescuing and retooling this nation. And, in the process of this benign endeavor, may each and every one of us share in the sound promise and good prosperity that shall describe the architecture of our national revival.

However, not everyone that shouts the name of Nigeria believes in this vision. There are many who would have you laid low and our future tossed asunder that they may persist in reaping the unjust reward of their selfish ways. There are wolves in sheep clothing and even jackals in wolf’s clothing. I have seen them but not as residents in some strange zoo. They populate the halls of this diminished government and the party from which this government was born.

We have come to the field of fateful choice. We have been brought to test the scales of weighty decision. Shall we lift this nation upward so that from its higher vantage point we may clearly see the road to our better destiny? Or shall we continue to march the march of fools into the dark of darkness. The current path has but one end. It shall take us into the den of national collapse. We have gone far enough down this wicked avenue to be aware of what its continuance portends.

We must awaken of our own accord, my dear people, before the bell of doom rings upon us. If we wait until that moment, we would have waited too long. Our future, our fate, our destiny would have been cast into the snare of utter misfortune. This is not the song of greatness. It is the poetics of ruin.

For me, political ambition will never triumph over patriotic conviction. This delicate moment affords no space for emotion to intrude to blind us from what is best. The APC is the best and only vehicle to enact the progressive and broad change this nation cries for. I eagerly lend myself to this fine cause without me having to be on the ticket.

This is a time for cohesion and an overriding sense of mission. We must defeat the foe before us and resist all temptations intended to entice us to fight among ourselves.

I sincerely commit myself to the rescue agenda of General Buhari and Professor Osinbajo.

I declare to you, I will work and dedicate myself so that our ticket succeeds and wins the 2015 election — not for his good, not for my good, not even for the party’s good but for the good of the nation we inhabit.

Some may call what I have done a sacrifice. I call it otherwise. It is my patriotic contribution and duty. I do so with a happy and uplifted heart and clear conscience because I have committed myself to seeking the best for this nation before seeking what is good for myself. This is the creed of statesmanship I chose to follow. May this be the creed of our party as General Buhari leads us to historic victory in the 2015 elections.

May the light of a bright future always shine on you and on our beloved nation, the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Unfortunately, the bridge between us and our opportunities have been shattered by a series of broken promises by a party, Government and President for whom promises mean nothing.

I have made it my task to record as many of the promises made by President Jonathan and his party. The lists of promises are as long as the list of disappointments.

All over Nigeria, he made promises to us and as far as Lagos is concerned, I can tell you that those promises remain unfulfilled without explanation.

I do not know what all experiences from your various states are, but I will repeat here, some of the promises that I recorded that he made across Nigeria and ask you to tell us whether they have been fulfilled.

· To complete the second River Niger bridge before the expiration of the tenure

· To make the Minister of Works to immediately start repairs of the road leading to Murtala Mohammed International Airport

· To transform all major routes in Damaturu to federal roads

· To assist in resuscitating all the collapsed industries in Kano state

· To set up a committee to review Federal government landed properties in Lagos, hand over those that should and retain those that should be in possession of the Federal Government.

· To give Sokoto-Kotangora road unfettered attention

· To deliver stable, constant supply of electricity

· To ensure that Nigerians do not use generators more than two times in a week

· To explore the coal deposits in Benue and Kogi states for improved power supply

· To reduce the importation of generators at least 90 percent in four years.

· To address the issues of unemployment through diversification of the nation’s economy to that of sustainable agricultural development across the 36 states of federation

· To create 1.5 million jobs in 2 years

· To transform the economy within four years

· To construct 2 world scale petrochemical plants, 2 fertilizer plants and 2 fertilizer blending plants.

· To establish petrochemical plant around Koko Free Trade Zone in Delta State

· To make Nigeria go beyond producing and exporting crude oil to exporting refined petroleum products because Nigeria has no reason to keep importing kerosene

· To make anyone caught breaching the public peace to face the full wrath of the law.

· To make sure that no part of the country is allowed to be a sanctuary for criminals anymore be they armed robbers or kidnappers

· To make a complete transformation of national security architecture

· To ensure there is no sacred cow in the fight against corruption; all crimes will be investigated as security is key.

· To strengthen EFCC and ICPC to fight crime

· To embark on irrigation project to boost production; to start two projects in Kwara State

· To boost farming activities by providing power and water

· To re-build Ilesa water scheme

· To complete Ife/Ijesa dam

· To provide sufficient water to the people of Taraba;

· To revamp mining activities in Jos, Plateau State

· To make solid mineral key revenue source in Nigeria

· To fight corruption regardless of the position of the person involved

· To play politics without bitterness.

· To lead by example; strengthen the anti-graft agencies, not interfere and give free hand on all matters of investigation against any government official.

· To ensure that the National Boundary Development Agencies are funded to tackle the challenges that arose out of the ceding of Bakassi to Cameroun

Today, we must rebuild the bridge that will bring change to Nigeria and more Nigerians closer to the promise of Nigeria.

Today you will have the opportunity to change broken promises to fulfilled promises and rescue Nigeria from mismanagement and bad governance.

Our party has carefully developed a Manifesto through which the broken and unfulfilled promises made to the people of Nigeria can be actualized.

The Manifesto is anchored on changing insecurity to security.

That Manifesto will change a dysfunctional government to an efficient Government.

That Manifesto will change underdevelopment to rapid and accelerated development.

That Manifesto will change our poor circumstances to a prosperous dawn.

That Manifesto will change Nigeria’s global reputation from its current dismal status to one of international respect and global admiration.

One man will bear the responsibility and enormous burden for implementing that Manifesto and the change that it brings.

All of you, our delegates are the men and women to whom history has been so kind to bring to this day, to this State, to this venue and to this moment, to choose that man with your votes.

Let me be clear. What you are gathered to do is epical.

What you are gathered to do is not easy. Change is not easy.

What you are gathered to do is important to the whole world.

Let me remind you that we gather to vote to make a choice that will alter the way Nigeria develops and in that way, Africa develops.

You are gathered to elect the potential leader of Africa’s most populous nation.

You are gathered to elect the Ambassador of Change.

Please do so wisely, decorously and with a sense of duty.

God bless you all as you cast the votes to change Nigerians for the better. Long live the All Progressives Congress.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Thank you.
