AKALA'S ALLIANCE WITH ADELABU OF APC: The Price of Leadership I initially refrained from making comment on the recent political development in Oyo State, especially the decision by our indefatigable leader, Otunba Alao-Akala, to cooperate with Chief Adelabu of APC in the coming gubernatorial election. I was reluctant because I know politics can be very sensitive. I am yet to recover from the emotional drain of the presidential election. It's not easy swimming against the tide. However, many have privately sought my opinion including clergies from Ogbomoso land. I shed tears when I watched the video of our leader addressing his followers at night few days ago after his return from Abuja. I cried because I have never seen an altruisic leader like him. He doesn't need to explain his decision to anybody, afterall, it's his decision, but he did. In his explanation, I couldn't see anything that's about him, it's about his followers, Ogbomoso & Oyo State at large. What a leader! May God continue to bless him & grant him long live for us. Let's examine the advantages of his decision to us: (1) LAUTECH : The issue of LAUTECH is very important to Ogbomoso land. LAUTECH is the main stay of the town's economy. The crisis in LAUTECH has seriously affected the town. The solution to this crisis starts from the institution been fully own by Oyo State. Our leader saw this long ago & tried to do something about it but was sabotaged by people that should know. LAUTECH was established by a law, the repealing of this law will require the cooperation of both Oyo & Osun. Osun is under APC, if Oyo goes under PDP then the cooperation becomes difficult. However, if Oyo is also under APC with our leader recognized as the party leader then it becomes easy to put pressure on the national leader of APC to make the two houses do the needful. This cannot be achieved with PDP on helms of affairs in Oyo State. Another option is to get FG to take over the university, this is also practically impossible if Oyo state is with opposition party. (2) Ogbomoso - Oyo express way: There is no gain saying emphasizing how much this road is needed by Ogbomoso people. The Ilorin - Ogbomoso & Oyo - Ibadan was completed long ago. Ogbomoso - Oyo never received the needed attention it required. With our leader recognition by the presidency & his demand from them that the road be completed, I believe this will be a done deal within the next four years if APC wins Oyo State. However, if Oyo State falls to PDP then we would have reduced our bargaining power. This is another reason we should support our leader to produce the next governor of Oyo State for APC. (3) Oyo in Opposition : No matter how much the FG try to be fair, the confidence a governor will approach the president will defer if they are not in the same party. Example is Fayose's Ekiti & Fayemi's Ekiti. Within few months of assumption of office, Fayemi has stabilized the State because he has the support of FG. We shouldn't allow Oyo to become another Fayose's Ekiti. (4) PDP needs money: The opposition party & its leaders will need money to run the party in the next four years. Since they couldn't get the centre, Atiku's fund will soon cease. Oyo is one of the big states in Nigeria and therefore the need for the scramble for it. Let's not allow our state's resources be turned into financial pool for politicians across the country to feed on. (5) Political Consideration : With the presidential results from Oyo State that PDP won by less than 2000 votes, it's obvious that party can singly produce a governor in the coming election. The utterance by Ladoja to our leader that only Ibadan can produce governor is not only an insult to him but to the entire ogbomoso land. I would have been weary if our leader was invited for cooperation by Ajimobi, but no, he was invited by the powers that be in Abuja. That's shows that while Ibadan think we are nobody, we are recognized as a factor in Abuja. Many more to be gained from the noble decision of Otunba Akala but he needs our support. A general without troop is a strong weak as anybody. Let's join hands with him to deliver the Oyo State governor to APC & ensure all ADP OYSHA candidates win on Saturday. With that, we will become Akehinde gba Egbon in Oyo State & what we think we lost by not becoming governor has been handed back to us by this singular act of God intervention. God is indeed faithful! LAUTECH AS A BARGAINING CHIP! "History has proven human beings to be selfish, hostile, short sighted" LAUTECH Ogbomoso was made the best state university and 3rd best in Nigeria due to the diligence and utmost priority accorded it by the Alao-Akala administration. Akala out of his ingenuity & love for his ancestral home, Ogbomoso established the ultra modern teaching hospital complex & the faculty of health sciences, all in Ogbomoso, and the hospital got accreditation from medical & dental council at the first visit of the accreditation & evaluation team. When Osun couldn't fulfill its financial obligations again and Oyo assisted severally in this regard, (moreso Osun has established its own state owned university) opted for the sole ownership of the school by exploring the clause of reviewing the co-ownership after 20years if they so desired! Research showed no state in Nigeria can fund 2 state universities!! Akala was already at the supreme court for the separation; unfortunately, he was ousted in 2011, and this put an end to the separation process already at the final stage since modalities has been submitted at the supreme court. A leader will identify a crisis fast ahead and proffer solutions before it becomes an emergency! The process was reversed by the Ajimobi/Aregbesola regimes and opted for an out of court settlement! Lautech fortune and glory started going down since then. Can a stop-gap once off donation by Engr. Seyi Makinde be equated with Akala's efforts listed above? NO! It can't. "There is nothing more equal than the equal treatment of the unequals!" Can Seyi's one time donation be equated to be more interested in Lautech than Akala, an indigene who established the teaching hospital & the faculty of health sciences, aside the effective funding that made Lautech becoming a model university in Nigeria? I know the truth is always a causality when history is being hurriedly written from many perspectives! When it comes to comparative analysis on those that have helped Lautech, it is erroneously wrong and absurd to be comparing Seyi Makinde's donation to the enduring legacies of Akala in LAUTECH! Can Engr. Seyi Makinde with his cash donation be said "to be more catholic than pope!"- more passionate about LAUTECH than Akala with those listed above? How come the "erroneous passion and love" for Ogbomoso didn't make him donate an engineering buildings to Lautech like he did to UNILAG? His "assumed love" for LAUTECH didn't go beyond the money donation that some myopic minded people are now comparing with Akala's efforts. LAUTECH problems have been itemized to include funding to take care of infrastructural decay & shortages, laboratory equipment and consumables, more facilities, workers and students welfare, and accreditation of other courses, employment of more capable hands and for teaching and research Teaching hospital to become fully functional. Immediate Solutions include: *Tetfund & NEEDS from Fed Min of Education *Fed Min of Health and the SDGs in the office of the SGF will take over the effective funding to make the teaching hospital fully functional; *Release of fund for the road rehab/construction problems in Ogbomoso through FERMA and Works Ministry; The water projects will be completed through the Fed Min of Water Resources. All these will be done effectively through the FG interventions as they are too capital Intensive which is certainly beyond the reach of the state govt with its present financial status. Can these be done with the state fund alone in the present time? Or does anyone expect Engr. Seyi Makinde to use his personal money to do all these? An opposition state can't benefit such from the government at the centre if they are from different political parties. If Akala's "little" contribution to the land of Ogbomoso is monumental and legendary while in government, how come his sense of judgement, character, integrity is now is being questioned and doubted on the alter of politics? If he didn't disappoint Ogbomoso then, how come an outsider's view is considered and believed ahead of one of their good ambassadors, Alao-Akala? Ogbomoso must not sacrifice its greatness and progress for political expediency! The opportunity beckons on Ogbomoso again to use what they have to make the sun of Ogbomoso rise and shine again! "Omo eni e okin s'edi bebere ,ka fi ileke sidi Omo elomi!" Engr. Remi Adepoju

Akala—Adelabu Parley: Setting The Record Straight By Wadud Wadraj With a reputation built on patriotic sacrifice to humanity, Alao-Akala's conscience has never been an item on auction. His moral courage cannot be broken in exchange of a few bites of crumbs. Leadership to him is not a ticket for enrichment but a dignifying call to service. Forgive me for taking the liberty to start this piece where I should stop. I deemed it necessary not to wait a minute before calming all frayed nerves that have become increasingly unsettled since the rumour mill kicked into high gear with various allegations regarding the turn of events in Oyo state politics which is compelling the alignment of forces between political arch-rivals. One of such infamous nuts of rumour being spilled in the full glare of the public is that a former governor of Oyo state and gubernatorial candidate of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala allegedly stepped aside from the gubernatorial race to midwife the ambition of Bayo Adelabu of the APC after he reached an agreement which borders on gratification of personal interest with the leadership of the ruling party in Abuja. While it is evident that the ex-governor has decided to form alliance with Bayo Adelabu, the move was not devised to achieve overriding selfish gains. It is instructive to note that the former governor backed out of a proposed alliance with opposition parties in the state which he had initiated prior to the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections when it was seemingly becoming an assemblage that's only committed to ethnic dominance rather than core values of good governance. The mediator of the coalition, Senator Rashid Ladoja was quoted to have said: ''Anyone outside Ibadan Zone cannot be considered as a consensus candidate for the alliance.'' This caustic remark from an elderstatesman confirmed that the coalition had been hijacked to address narrow ethnic interests as opposed the vision of forming an all-inclusive government which birthed its establishment by Otunba Alao-Akala. Such an ethnic configuration is a great disservice to the cohesion and peaceful coexistence of the state and no altruistic leader would subject his teeming followers to help build a house which they will later be chased out of. An organization formed on the basis of ethnic supremacy where equality of right and privilege is substituted for self-serving goals will only lead to absolute deprivation of other zones that make up the state. Without unity and a common sense of purpose, such alliance cannot set the path of the state on a secure and prosperous future. Leadership is not a function of ethnic association or family ties. Good leaders are products of positive mindset, an attribute you can't deny someone like Alao-Akala who is famed for his long track record of influencing human capital development and institutional growth which traverse the entire state. With the belief that the roadmap of ethnic identity shouldn't be the path to attain position of influence, Otunba Alao-Akala jettisoned the alignment process between PDP, ADC and ZLP for a people-centered coalition with the leadership of APC as it became glaringly obvious that no political party could stand any chance by going to the polls all alone. The choice of working with Adelabu's APC was later accepted because it does not recognize ethnic lines as identifiers for positions of leadership. The alliance promises to relate with all zones of the state on equal footing without any shred of prejudice. Also, the readiness of the ruling party to adopt the visions and agenda of the ADP as their guiding light will deliver the Oyo State of our dream. History will always be kind to Otunba Alao-Akala for resisting ethnic bigotry. His disposition to virtue should be embraced by all. He has stood not for the Ogbomosos but the entire populace of the state including the generations yet unborn - he has entrenched a united front for the young suckers that would grow when the old banana dies.

Alao-Akala Undecided Over Alliance With APC, PDP •As meetings end inconclusive, continues tomorrow Former governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao Akala may be in a dilemma over which of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to align with in the forthcoming governorship election as series of meetings with leaders of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) held on the subject matter, today, Thursday turned out inconclusive. At the two meetings, held at various times at his Ibadan residence, first with the party’s House of Assembly candidates and second with ADP leaders like Temitoye Olatoye, Kamil Akinlabi, Alao Akala had brought up the ingredients of the alliance requests of the APC and conglomerate of PDP, African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP). In their quest to get Ogbomoso bloc votes, both the APC and PDP led opposition have in series of meetings since last week, assured Alao Akala of a huge stake in their government, with Alao Akala stating that he had to meet his party leaders to decide whose bid was highest before making his decision known. Candidates of the ADP, had at the meeting, been told that the alliance was for the governorship contest and that their ambition for the House of Assembly seats on the ADP platform could be boosted by the alliance. Asked if a decision on which governorship candidate to support had been taken, Alao Akala in a conversation with Tribune Online, said, “No consensus yet on alignment. I do not know when a consensus will be reached.” Alao Akala had on Monday flown to Abuja to attend to a meeting called for by National Leader of the APC, Senator Bola Tinubu on the possibility of getting Alao Akala’s support so as to boost the chances of the APC in next Saturday’s governorship election in the state. In the same vein, Alao Akala had on Wednesday met with leaders of the PDP, ADC, ZLP at residence of former governor Rashidi Ladoja on the need to support governorship candidate of the PDP, Seyi Makinde, who is said to be the choices of the masses of the state and performed well in last Saturday’s National Assembly election. While a consensus is expected to be reached in the next round of meetings, some members of the ADP, various conversations with Tribune Online, fear that Alao Akala may buy into an alliance with the APC. Positions among followers of the ADP range from arguments that an alignment with the APC amount to Alao Akala going back to his own vomit to that the party should align with the PDP which they say offer the brightest chance to oust the APC in the state. Those who support alignment with the PDP further argue that its guber candidate, Seyi Makinde commands masses’ appeal above that of the APC, Adebayo Adelabu, while those who support alignment with the APC hold that they have a lot to benefit because the APC is the party at the centre. The series of meetings with leaders of the ADP, the PDP and other opposition parties are expected to continue tomorrow, Friday.

Leading opposition parties in Oyo State including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Action Democratic Party (ADP) on Thursday advanced their talks for an alliance against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 9 governorship and House of Assembly elections. They suspended the talks shortly before the presidential election but resumed on Thursday. Thursday’s meeting held at the Bodija, Ibadan home of a former governor of the state, Sen. Rashidi Ladoja. The Nation learnt that they had a much more detailed discussion on factors such as general popularity of each party and candidates. They also reportedly discussed which party or candidate will be most acceptable to the people of the state. Also discussed was sharing of portfolios and withdrawal of which House of Assembly candidate in which local government. Though they considered the performance of the parties in the presidential and National Assembly elections, it was viewed that it would not be a major factor in deciding which party to jointly support for the next election because of local strength of many parties. At the meeting were Ladoja of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Adebayo Alao-Akala, who is the governorship candidate of the ADP, ADC governorship candidate Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin and his PDP counterpart Seyi Makinde. Others are ZLP governorship candidate Sharafadeen Alli and his counterpart from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Bolaji Ayorinde. After meeting for hours, the gladiators agreed to continue with the meeting on Friday. The opposition parties are seeking a joint effort to defeat the governorship candidate of the APC, Adebayo Adelabu and its House of Assembly candidates. They came to the conclusion that only a coalition can defeat the ruling party on March 9. They drew their conclusion from the result of the 2011 and 2015 governorship elections. http://thenationonlineng.net/akala-makinde-others-form-alliance-against-adelabu/

February 23 Polls: 10 University of Ibadan Professors Rigged for APC in Oyo State On the eve of the February 23rd Presidential and National Assembly Elections, an alarm was raised over a sinister collaboration between Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led APC; the appointed Collation Officers who were drawn from the University of Ibadan, some top INEC officials and security agencies to declare fake results across local governments in Oyo State. The plan came to fruition on the day of the elections as the 10 U.I. Professors sponsored by the ruling APC and appointed by the INEC as local government Collation Officers carried out the fraudulent tasks after collecting N20m each. These Professors did not only decimate the number of votes scored by the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in 10 LGAs of Oyo State but also inflated the number of votes scored by the ruling APC. If this is not a gang-rape of our democracy, then what should we call it? One of the Professors caught in the dastardly act is PROF. OLUTOKUNBO OYESOLA who changed figures for the House of Reps for Ogbomoso South LGA from 3,450 to 14,450. Professor OLUTOKUNBO BIRDIES OYESOLA's area of specialisation is Extension and Rural Sociology. He is from the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development at the Faculty of Agriculture and Rural Development, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. Professor Oyesola is among the crop of wicked, undemocratic and dishonourable academics we have in this country. He is a disgrace to the academic world and his family. It sad that Professors who ordinarily should be reservoirs of wisdom are now the cheap tools Nigerian politicians are using to perpetrate electoral fraud and also shortchange the will of poor citizens. In the interest of preserving and safeguarding the international reputation of the Premier University, U.I. it is important that the Management and the Alumni Association call all Staff on election duty to order or THE WORST WILL HAPPEN to them when caught on the March 9th, 2019 during the Gubernatorial Elections. To be FOREWARNED is to be FOREARMED! I'll soon release the similar atrocities of the remaining lecturers of the Premier University involved in this immoral act. STAY CONNECTED! SIGNED: Com. The ADP Governorship candidate and former governor of Oyo State has vehemently debunked the fake news being circulated online that he had endorsed Muhammodu Buhari of All Progressives Congress (APC) for today’s Elections. Alao-Akala described the news as fake in a statement released by one of his media aides, Com. YSO Olaniyi. According to the press release, “Our attention has been drawn to online publication of media outfits www.opera.com, www.unilagefiwe.com and among others that our principal and governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) adopted President Muhammodu Buhari of APC as the presidential choice of ADP”. “We wish to appeal to the sensibility of the members of ADP, members of the public and all the Alao-Akala support groups in Oyo State and beyond to disregard such fake news. It is nothing but a fraudulent voyage by the Oyo State APC to use the name of our dear principal to fraudulently garner votes”. “We want to say categorically the ADP presidential candidate remains Alhaji Y.Y Sanni” said YSO Olaniyi in the release. https://sunrisebulletin.com/2019-alao-akala-denies-endorsing-buhari-slams-apc/

BREAKING: 2019: Group warns INEC & U.I Staff, reveals how APC plots to rig elections in Oyo With barely ten hours to the 2019 presidential and national assembly elections, the National Elections Watch (NEW) has raised alarm over what it called a desperate plot by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State to rig the polls. State Chairman of NEW, Barr. Adigun Abayomi, in a press statement said that an unholy collaboration among the quartet of Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led APC; the appointed collation officers who were drawn from the University of Ibadan, some top INEC officials and security forces might culminate in the declaration of fake results and deploy lethal force to quell the expected popular resistance. "We have credible information about the unholy arrangements to perpetrate riggings especially in the opposition partie’s strongholds". "Part of the plans are to compromise card readers, provide fake army and police uniforms to some recruited thugs as well as announcement of fake results by the retuning officers. Some members of APC Research and Planning Committee who do not want their names in print confided in us that Gov. Ajimobi had assured maximum security covers for the retuning officers after announcing the results that would be given to them". "We have confirmed that Senator Ajimobi influenced the appointments of Presiding Officers and Returning Officers including their postings. As at 9:00pm tonight, the University of Ibadan Staff who are majorly returning Officers have been handed authentic result sheets of Oyo South and Oyo Central Senatorial Districts for overnight computation of fake results in Agodi Government House." The NEW, in the statement, urged the opposition parties' agents and the electorates in Oyo State to be very vigilant and resist any rigging plot by the APC. It warned the electoral umpire, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police and the management of the University of Ibadan to call their staff members to order so as to give a room for free, credible and acceptable elections, as any bias roles from them in tomorrow elections is capable of plunging Oyo State into major crisis. |

faithfull18:Thanks bro...What he said here...he did it before but the present man at the helm of affair has messed everything up...if you live in Oyo state kindly tell me any of our tertiary institutions that is working or in session for some months now. Lecturers are being owed, no subventions to those schools...Ajimobi has never laid a block in lautech since eight years. Whereas, Alao Akala has never owe them a dime throughout his time and every schools in Oyo state felt his presence. Do not forget, Akala didn't owe any debt nor left any debt for the state...He rather left close to 10bn Naira in the cover of the state...He said it and non body has ever come out to deny it nor challenge him |
The Oyo State Action Democratic Party (ADP) governorship candidate and former governor, Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala has vowed to restore 100% monthly subventions to all the state-owned tertiary institutions. Alao-Akala who made this known in a special press statement he personally signed on Thursday, said the restoration of 100% subventions to the schools is aimed at helping them to put an end to their financial constraints, which they have been battling with in the last 5 years. “During my first reign as governor of Oyo State, I showed my genuine concern for the development of education. But since I left the office, our education, health and economic sectors have been on deceleration mode”. “Our administration committed huge funds to the education sector in order to cater for infrastructures, adequate monthly subventions, timely payments of salaries and allowances of workers and pensioners. I must reiterate that I left over N10b in the state’s coffers without any loan or debt. Besides, the funds that our government allocated to all the tertiary institutions still sustained them for almost 3years after leaving government. However, had it been the Ajimobi-led administration imbibe our commitment spirit, our education sector would not have been in comatose by now”. “It is alarming that all the sectors of our economy have nosedived under the misrule of the APC; hence the need for a rescue mission by an experienced, tested and trusted leader. I am seeking another opportunity to govern Oyo State in order to put her on the right track.” “I enjoin the citizens and residents of the state to vote massively for ADP on February 23 and March 9, so as to put a stop to the unconstitutional commercialisation of primary and secondary education in the state. Recall, under my watch between 2007-2011, the giant strides recorded placed Oyo State first in the southwest and second in Nigeria owing to the free, compulsory and qualitative education policy. I will make sure we restore the lost glory when given the mandate”. “When elected to power, our government will create more conducive learning environment through massive rehabilitation and reconstruction of school blocks, provision of science and laboratory equipment, construction of hostels and supply of instructional materialss. As a way of ensuring that final year secondary school students are not constrained by lack of money, our government will restore the payments of WASSCE and NECO fees for all students in public secondary schools”. “I vow that our government will ensure the provision of an enabling environment to motivate both the teachers, pupils and students for optimal performance and output as well as attract investors to boost the sector, Alao-Akala added.

Ballot Box Snatching In 2007 when I ran for the Federal House of Reps under the defunct ANPP, ballot box snatching alongside voter intimidation and vote padding were in vogue. Several miracles usually happen between the PU and the collation centres on Election Day. This was possible because security agents were always part of the grand plan. You cannot be sure you won an election based on the results from your agents in the field until the RO declares the winner and that also depends largely on the result sheets that gets accepted by the Returning Officer who back then was like a demi-god. In 2019, snatching ballot box from PU to PU will render votes invalid because every Polling Unit has a unique digital number. This digitalized system of voting makes box snatching old-fashioned and useless because votes become instantly invalidated. Mr. President, the Opposition parties and all online political analysts need to take time to study INEC’s Election Technology to have a full understanding of this. Thinking out loud, my own concerns are the new innovations which include the cloning of ballots and other sensitive materials, and the fact that our security architecture is not particularly trustworthy or should I say highly compromised and partial. Forget all the beer parlour gists about integrity, the main contending parties in this election will outspend each other “dollar for dollar and naira for naira” on Election Day. In fact the ruling party will spend double if not triple of whatever their main opposition rival parties will spend because they need to assert that they have access to the “national pot of soup.” More importantly, the ruling party will do everything within and outside the books to retain power and this will come at an unpleasant cost considering the pervasive poverty and hunger across the country. Ballot snatching is not even a major issue in this election. @solaatlarge IG: @solatlarge

I Am Voting Atiku- And This Is Why We are not electing a pastor. We are electing a President. We are not seeking a messiah- we are seeking a man who understands the fundamentals of a modern society and has the requisite wherewithal to provide leadership to a nation. Nigerians are not looking for angels to vote for. We just want someone who will provide reasonable leadership, understand the basics of the economy, demonstrate a balanced understanding of the different geographies that make up Nigeria, be cosmopolitan in approach and be fair to all. Atiku ticks these boxes for me. In addition, out of ALL the candidates, he's the only one talking about restructuring. I believe the greatest danger to Nigeria is Muhammadu Buhari. Never has the nation been so factionalized along tribal and religious lines like now. He has taken nepotism to unprecedented heights. His incompetence stares you so much in the face that you can't ignore it. He has pauperized the economy. He has demonstrated sufficient capacity in making bad things worse. His insensitivity is unmistakable. His lack of empathy is unpardonable. All men of goodwill who have the interest of this nation at heart must say enough is enough! I'm not sure this nation can survive another 4 years of Buhari. I have had people ask: shouldn't we look the way of younger elements such as Omoyele Sowore, Fela Durotoye, Kingsley Moghalu or Tope Fasua? I'm a pragmatic realist. I used to be a blue-eyed unrealistic optimist but no more. You don't send a boy to do a man's job. Sowore does not have the structure to become Nigeria's President. Can he get people to man the over 120,000 polling units across Nigeria? How many governors will Moghalu's party YDP produce? How many Reps and Senators? Who knows YDP in Akoko in Ondo State or Odeomu in Osun State? The best candidate so far in terms of ideas is Kingsley Moghalu but he can't win because he doesn't have the structures. I have had the opportunity to speak to a few of them to plead that they drop their ego and present just ONE candidate. I truly admire what they have done but courage is totally different from brawn just like strategy is different from energy. How exactly will upstarts (and I don't mean this derogatorily) upturn the applecart and cause a major disruption in the process when they can't even harness the power of unity to cut down a behemoth? We need to sit down and understand there is a way to hijack power from the establishment. It starts with being united. We can also hijack by joining already established structures and work our way up. Or by taking a piece at a time. I suggested once to a member of Sowore's campaign team that he should contest as Governor of Lagos State. His Take It Back campaign will reverberate across Lagos as many are already tired of Tinubu's stranglehold. Sowore might not have enough resources to cover the entire nation but he has enough resources to cover Lagos. With his incredible energy, he would have covered the 20 Local Governments in Lagos many times over. He has enough street credibility to match MC Oluomo man for man. He will get activists to line behind him and give Tinubu a real fight- unlike Jimi Agbaje who has no fight left in him. You can't crack palm kernel nuts without making crushing efforts. If he succeeds in taking over Lagos and he transforms the State in such an unprecedented manner in 4 years, he will be ready to negotiate for the whole country. Everyone will beg him to be President. Lagos is the most important State in Nigeria and anyone who has it has a strong bargaining power to chip. This is an example of a strategy road map I proferred. If you're going into a battle, wisdom dictates that you must count the cost whether you have sufficient ammo to finish the battle. If you don't, you'll expose your lack of critical thinking- one reason I wasn't impressed with Oby Ezekwesili. They all have not built sufficient structures to lead or govern a complex entity like Nigeria. Anyhow you want to look at it, rebuilding this nation is a marathon and not a dash. Either way, power is never served a la carte. The reality on ground- and I do not deceive myself- is that it is either Buhari or Atiku that will win the election. No other party has been able to build structures and penetrate all the 774 Local Governments in the nation. Even illiterates know the broom and the umbrella. Nomads may not be able to operate a smart phone but they know PDP and APC. This is why I don't think any Third Force will make any reasonable impact. If you can't make a difference, why bother? The situation on ground is too dicey for experiments. Time is running out on this nation. And this is where I consider the thought of wasting one's votes on a 'Third Force' as illogical and absurd. I have only ONE vote and I intend to make it count. Even the so-called Third Force parties or movements are now busy endorsing either Buhari or Atiku. I want to address the issue of Atiku's corruption. When Atiku was with APC, why didn't they shout about his corruption then? Why did they praise him to highest heavens? Why did Buhari fly in Atiku's private jet all over Nigeria? Why is he now corrupt when he decamped and left for PDP? Why hasn't he been convicted if they truly had evidence against him? Why didn't Lai Mohammed carry out his threat to get him arrested on Bank PHB issue when he travelled to the US? Let me go deeper. Who are those surrounding Buhari? Is Atiku more corrupt than Tinubu? Or Amaechi is no longer corrupt? Or Fashola who dug two boreholes in Lagos at a cost of N139m as alleged by his own State not corrupt? Is one corruption greater than the other? I don't want to go into the various scandals emanating from important figures in this administration. No one should pull the wool over our eyes- corruption is alive, well and probably stronger. Am I saying Atiku is not corrupt? No. But has he been convicted? Is he not innocent until he's proven guilty? He has been out of office for years without immunity- even till now. So if Adams Oshiomole who has a petition against him in EFCC allegedly gathering dust can lead the President's party, no one in that party should pontificate about the corruption of another. Get a conviction or get out. Having laid this foundation, I make bold to ask: where has the much touted integrity of Buhari taken Nigeria? We are worse off than we were 4 years ago. Integrity without competence won't take you anywhere. Buhari doesn't have it. All the indices that make for a great nation are south ward. People leave this nation in droves daily because they can't see a future. We need someone who can urgently pull back the chest from the fire. You face an enemy size for size. You don't confront an enemy who has missiles with a machete. Atiku- warts and all- is the only one who can match Buhari. At least, this is clearly evident from his campaigns all over the nation. His combination with Peter Obi is like a bowl of amala with gbegiri and ewedu garnished with well-tendered goat meat. Both men understand how to run modern businesses. Both men have made a success of their individual careers and businesses. Atiku is liberal, cosmopolitan, refined and knows how to spot talents. Peter Obi is a great manager of resources and outstanding technocrat who has been exceptional in leadership. Many years out of office, he is yet to be accused of a single case of corruption. We need leaders who will pull the nation back from the brink, heal our divides and restore hope. If there is one thing I know, Atiku will handle the economy better. He will have a much more colourful cabinet. He will not be nepotistic. He won't lock up El Zak Zakky for months and refuse to release him in spite of court orders. He won't look away and gloss over the murder of over 300 Shiites. He will heal the divides of this nation. That is not asking for too much. If Atiku wins and does not perform to expectation within 4 years, we will kick him out too. We will keep changing our leaders until we get the one that is fit for role. This is my stance. Atiku/Obi is the viable option. Any vote for any other candidate is either a waste or indirectly in support of the incumbent. I am voting Atiku.

Four (4) Councillors Pass Vote Of Confidence On Olamiju, Suspend V.Chairman, Deputy Leader Another set of four councilors have passed a vote of confidence on the chairman of Ogbomoso North local government, Hon. Olamiju Alao-Akala. OYO INSIGHT had reported how 4 of the councilors announced the suspension of Olamiju who, last week, defected from the All Progressive Congress, APC, to the Action Democratic Party, ADP, where his father and former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala is contesting to govern the state for second term. Led by Oladele Sunday Abiodun, who claims to be the leader of the legislative council and three others, they also passed a vote of no confidence in Olamiju’s deputy, Hon. Abass Bello Bayewuwon and the deputy leader, Hon. Adebowale Oyejoke Oladunmomi got breaching the local government laws. https://oyoinsight.com/just-in-4-councillors-pass-vote-of-confidence-on-olamiju-suspend-v-chairman-deputy-leader/

The chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo state, Olamijuwon Alao-Akala (JP), who was suspended by four councillors in his council area on Monday, has stated that his alleged suspension is unconstitutional, illegal and a nullity as only a validly inaugurated legislative arm of the local government council has the power to suspend him. Olamijuwon, the son of the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Oyo state and former governor of the state, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala had decamped from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to his father’s party, ADP, last Thursday. He added that he is taking the purported suspension with a pinch of salt as it has no legal or constitutional backing, urging the councillors- elect to wait be inaugurated before confronting him with illegal suspension and not cause unnecessary chaos in the peaceful town of Ogbomoso On Tuesday, 19th February, 2019, I received a letter conveying my purported suspension from office as the Executive Chairman Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State by minority councilors-elect, through the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. M.F Afolabi. My purported suspension by 4 of the 10 elected councilors is illegal, null and void. The legislative councils of local government areas in the State are yet to be inaugurated since our elections in May 2018; therefore, the meeting where my purported suspension was agreed was unconstitutional. It is noteworthy that the 1999 Nigerian Constitution As Amended and the Oyo State Local Government Administration Law clearly state the procedures for suspension and/or removal of a duly elected council chairman. Based on the provisions of the constitutions, ONLY A VALIDLY INAUGURATED LEGISLATIVE ARM IF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL can deliberate and recommend suspension and/or removal of an executive Chairman to the the state House of assembly for a final decision. Unfortunately for the 4 councilors-elect, they are yet to be inaugurated neither do their number constitute the required quorum (two-thirds of the Councillors-elect) in the circumstances. It is my honest suggestion to the Councillors-Elect and the purveyors of violence and impunity nudging them on, to exercise some patience until their inauguration, for them to now confront me with whatever grievances they may have against me, instead of acting without capacity, an action that appears to be a prelude towards throwing the peaceful town of Ogbomoso into some artificial and avoidable crises. Stemming from the above, I have decided to take the purported suspension with a pinch of salt, since same is predicated on a non existent foundation. Our courts have long settled it, as enunciated in the popular case of UAC V. Macfoy that ".....you cannot put something on nothing, and expect it to stand". Hence, this is a comedy of the absurd, and we urge all parties concerned to at least, pretend to act a bit of honour, even if they lack same. My attention has also been drawn to the laughable statement made by the Chairman of APC in Ogbomoso North LGA, Mr. Bukola Badmus, wherein he purportedly suspended me from the party, APC, even when I have since left the APC for a truly progressive party Action Democratic Party (ADP). This is not only laughable, but a pointer to the degree of frustration and looming failures that seems stare in the face of the APC of Ogbomoso North LG in the coming elections. I am already out of that sinking ship, I wish them well. I want to allay the fears of the citizens and residents of Ogbomoso North LGA who voted me into office, that I am still in charge and my 3years mandate shall be dedicated to serving you better. Once again, I pledge not to betray the trust and confidence you have in me. Long live Ogbomosoland! Long Live Oyo State!! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!! SIGNED: Hon.Olamijuwonlo Ayodeji Alao-Akala JP Executive Chairman, Ogbomoso North LGA, Kinira. https://www.tribuneonlineng.com/191770/

Lanlehin Condemns Olamiju Alao-Akala’s Suspension …..Describes it illegal and undemocratic The gubernatorial candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin has condemned in its entirety the purported suspension of the Chairman, Ogbomosho North Local Government, Olamiju Alao-Akala, son of former governor of the state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, by four out of the ten councilors instead of six which represents two third of the majority. Olamiju Alao-Akala who was elected as Chairman of the council in the local government election held on Saturday 12th May 2018, contested under the platform of the ruling APC was suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. Lanlehin made the condemnation in a release signed by the Director General of Handshake Campaign Organisation, Architect Bashiru Lawal and made available to journalists in Ibadan by Director of Public Communication, New Media and Tertiary Institution for Organisation, Engineer Akeem Olatunji. According to the release, “If the information available to us that four councilors out of ten signed the suspension letter sent to him (Olamiju) and that those councilors are yet to be sworn-in, talk less of receiving certificate of return. "We also learnt that the purported suspension was carried out at the government house, Ibadan rather than legislative chamber of the council in Ogbomosho. “If these information were to be true, the purported suspension of Lamiju is illegal, sign of do or die politics of bitterness and taken too far. "What Governor Ajimobi and the APC demonstrated is against the tenets of democracy, it is quite unfortunate that Ajimobi with his undemocratic conduct is aspiring to replace Sen Olusoji Akanbi of ADC who is adjudged to be a performing democrat and workaholic Senator. “The good people of Oyo South must take cognizance of Ajimobi anti-democratic and dictatorial tendencies as such a person might be a minus to the advancement of democracy at the upper chamber of the National Assembly. "Irrespective of our political party differences, we want to identify with Lamiju on this illegality being perpetrated by the ruling APC and the governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi”. Apart from the party, four councilors in Ogbomoso Local government area where Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala is the chairman have also suspended him. His suspension was contained in a letter dated Friday February 15th 2019 and signed by four councillors from the council. The councillors who signed the letter suspending Alao-Akala in the letter obtained by journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday included; Hon. Adebowale Oladunmoni (Deputy Leader), Hon. Zakariyau Ayinde Kabiru, Hon. Adisa Raheem Kingsley and Hon. Busari Lamidi Adesina. The four councillors in the letter, a copy which were sent to the office of the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Mr. Bimbo Kolade said, “Take notice that we the undersigned councilors in Ogbomoso Local Government Area hereby passed a resolution suspending you from the office as the executive chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government for your gross misconduct”. Publicity Secretary of APC in the state, Dr. Abdulazeez Olatunde, who confirmed the suspension of the son of the ex-governor to journalists on Tuesday, added that the party took the right decision by suspending Alao-Akala because he has dumped the APC to join ADP. According to him, “Yes, we have suspended him. He crossed from the party and went to ADP. What do you want us to do? He added that the councilors also took the right decision by suspending Alao-Akala. “Yes, they have to do that. Don’t they impeached Ladoja? Was he not impeached? Was he not elected? The councilors are the ones like the house of Assembly in the state. http://insideoyo.com/lanlehin-condemns-olamiju-alao-akalas-suspension/

Alao-Akala made this declaration while speaking at the flag-off of the ADP campaigns in Ibadan, state capital. At the event were Senatorial candidates of the party for Oyo Central, Hon. Temitope Olatoye, Oyo South Dr. Fola Akinosun and other candidates of the party in the 2019 general elections. Alao-Akala, while addressing thousands of members and supporters the party said that he will clear the outstanding promotions and arrears in addition to the payment of the N30,000 minimum wage, which some governors had rejected. He said that after his inauguration, he will abolish all educational levies and settle all salary arrears in the state. Alao-Akala, while assuring residents of the state that he will bring smiles to their faces after his inauguration, added that he will restore the dignity of teaching profession in the state through retraining and capacity building workshops for the teachers. He added that he will acquire the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso for Oyo state only. LAUTECH our correspondent gathered is jointly owned by both Oyo and Osun states. Alao-Akaka said, “By the grace of God, we shall pay the N30,000 minimum wage, abolish educational levies in Oyo state and acquire LAUTECH for Oyo State. “We are restoring free and qualitative education once again. We shall abolish all educational levies, strengthen didactics and ensure that our candidates come first in NECO and other public examinations again. We will acquire LAUTECH for Oyo State alone. The LAUTECH teaching hospital complexes in Ogbomoso and Oyo will become operational and deliver top brand medical services to our people. “We shall get all our tertiary institutions on state subvention as it is the practice with responsible governments all over the world. We shall reverse all arbitrary increases in fees and resuscitate the state scholarship board as we did on 2007 after 20 years to assist our indigent but gifted students. “We are restoring the dignity of the teaching profession and institutionalise retraining and capacity building workshops as I did severally during my first term. “We are aware that Oyo state civil servants are the true agents of economic multiplier. So for them, it is welcome back to fresh and unimaginable motivations, prompt salaries, promotions and other emoluments. The Alao-Akala administration shall pay the N30,000 minimum wage. We shall immediately visit all outstanding promotions and pay promotion arrears. “Oyo pensioners shall not only smile but laugh again. I am digitalising the state pension administration once and for all and address gratuity and pension arrears.”
