eejo:Language: The lingua franca in Nigeria is a foreign language which is English. Our own indigenous language is not prioritized as a result of colonization, diversity and ethnicity. China and United States of America give priority to theirs, take for instance we have British English and America English which is adopted by USA Language is one of the area where Nigeria failed in taking the world stage. Religion & Ethnicity: Nigeria also failed in religious aspect, at times we vote for candidates that practice the same belief with us, which it shouldn't be, I think our focus should be on personalty not religions. Most of us are guilty of this and the same religion we practice today are foreign religion while ours has been outlived and only few practice it Youth Empowerment: USA and China are boosting their economy by empowering their youths in technology and some other fields Debt/Loan: Nigeria keep borrowing money from other country especially China, this is also a menace to us for taking the world stage. I don't think USA and China is indebted to any countries. All these just not happen it happened as a result of inability to utilize our resources About what we have in common is somehow logic. I think the three countries have strong Government like federalism system of government as a result of land mass or geographical location. Another thing we have in common is population, industrialization and resources |
HND graduates protest proposed NYSC exclusion Full-time Higher National Diploma graduates who previously completed part-time National Diploma programs have voiced strong opposition to the proposed exclusion of such graduates from the National Youth Service Corps scheme. This protest comes as the registration for the second stream of Batch C mobilisation began on Monday, January 6. The affected graduates gathered at the NYSC secretariat in Lagos early Monday morning, holding placards with messages like ‘Say No To Discrimination in NYSC’ and ‘Equal Rights for All,’ calling for their inclusion in the NYSC mobilisation process. Majaro Temitope, who completed his HND program at Yaba College of Technology, spoke on behalf of the graduates, expressing concerns over the proposed exclusion. He described the policy as discriminatory, emphasising that many of them had worked hard to transition from part-time ND programs to full-time HND programs. “Many of us here did ND part-time and later switched to full-time HND. We were not told there is a policy that will deny us the opportunity to serve, despite the struggles we faced during our ND years,” he said. Temitope also mentioned that they had written letters to relevant authorities seeking intervention, but had yet to receive a response. He called on the Director-General of NYSC and the Minister of Education to address the issue. “We’ve already written to the Director-General and JAMB about this matter. We just hope the Federal Government and Ministry of Education will review this unfair policy, especially since the registration has already started and we have yet to register,” he added. a representative from the Education Rights Campaign, Adebola Osunfunrewa, criticised the policy as a reflection of the deterioration of Nigeria’s education system. “This policy is another sign that Nigeria’s education system is collapsing. How can over 3,000 students be begging to serve in a country that is facing severe teacher shortages?” he said. Responding to the protesters, the Lagos NYSC Coordinator, represented by Assistant Director, Ehimuenma Itohan, assured the graduates that their concerns had been forwarded to the Director-General at the national headquarters. Itohan urged them to remain calm and assured them that the matter was being taken seriously. “Your protest has been duly noted, and we have escalated your grievance to the highest level of management in NYSC. The Director-General is a father figure who deeply cares about the concerns of the youth, and I assure you that he will consider all aspects of the matter in line with the existing guidelines and policies,” Itohan said. |

The police command in Ondo says four persons were shot dead in the Owo LGA of the state during a clash between members of rival cult groups. Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the police spokesperson in Ondo, said the clash happened on Sunday and lasted till Monday morning. “Four people have been confirmed dead. We can’t confirm if an APC chieftain was affected,” the spokesperson said. Odunlami-Omisanya said normalcy has returned to the affected area after the intervention of police operatives. According to a source in the area, the incident was a renewed cult clash occasioned by past crises between the groups in the area. In 2023, three people were shot dead in an attack by gunmen suspected to be members of a cult group in the same LGA. The attackers reportedly went away with the bodies of the victims. |
