Niger has extended an olive branch to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The Nigerien Prime Minister, Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, has invited all ECOWAS countries to join the seemingly budding Alliance of Sahel States (AES). This invite follows ECOWAS’s stated intention to bring the AES countries back to the West African bloc.

In September 2023, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali formed a regional alliance; the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), outside of ECOWAS which they formerly belonged.

They did this with the goal of improving their collective security measures and fostering socioeconomic growth for their populations. Additionally, they did this in the face of sanctions Niger received from ECOWAS.

Despite the disagreements that had led to the formation of the AES, Niger has decided to encourage ECOWAS members to join the group.

LAGOS REASSURES RESIDENTS OF SAFETY



The Statewide exercise to free Lagos of visible security risks has continued after the arrest of some suspects under the Dolphin Estate bridge.

The ceaseless influx of miscreants, beggars, and the destitute onto Lagos streets has raised fears of insecurity of lives and property. This is unacceptable.

As part of the exercise, 450 miscreants were at the weekend rescued. Of the lot, 371 pleaded for assistance to relocate to their various states due to the hardship they are facing in Lagos; 79 have been absorbed into some government facilities for rehabilitation after showing signs of being unwell.

The exercise will continue as part of the government’s responsibility to keep our citizens safe and secure.

If this is the case why is NNPC stations not selling to public? Why are Nnpc stations selling with one or two pumps when they want to sell.

NNPC. Should direct their stations to load and dispense with easy so to force others to start selling.

If one can easily buy from Nnpc those other stations will not be doing shakara.

If the subsidy is back it means the petroleum marketers a buying from NNPC(Sole importer) at N250 or less per liter.

Why are Nigerians paying almost N700 per liter at the pump?

The means that the consumers are the once paying the subsidy and not the government.

The govt only pays the subsidy at the point of bulk purchase and recoup the subsidy paid from the marketers. The marketers then recoup the subsidy from everyone of us that buys petrol.

The government fooled all of us.
