Jonraid: Whilst South Africa's economic indicators are still strong and above many in the continent, what is happening lately shows a country that is slowly creeping to the dogs if its leadeship doesn't get its act together.
''A recent survey showed that 27 percent of South African students who complete six years of school still cannot read, compared to 4 percent in far poorer Tanzania. Only 37 percent of South African students who start school pass the matriculation exam.''
https://www.worldpoliticsreview.com/articles/28179/south-africa-s-xenophobic-turn-against-other-africans-is-a-national-failure The South African case is pathetic. The scars of apartheid have refused to go away. The xenophobic attacks have damaged the country's image more. The youths tend to recognize no values whatever. And corruption is rife. |

If South Africans don't want you in their country, then stay away. I find it hard to blame the black South Africans. They remember how hard and long they fought to be free from apartheid! Now don't expect them to sit back and watch other Africans to come and take jobs for the masses away from them. And take their girls as well while adding to crime rate. How many Africans went to live in South Africa during apartheid days? If South Africa is going to burn, I think the South Africans would prefer to do the burning themselves. Leave South Africa for South Africans! |

dan2976: Importation is not bad as long as u know what u are doing. Please google it now. The largest economies in the world are the biggest importers of goods. Whether staple food or not. The resource deposits that God has blessed us with ensures Nigeria can generate revenue from mineral deposits exportation for the next 300years. Not including petroleum. We don't need to produce anything and with our proceeds can still import everything and still not suffer. Please google and see for yourself the kind of deposits we have. Countries in the Emirates import everything even water and they are still better than us.
We have a problem. America imports its staple food and still buys all the harvest from its farmers to ensure prices come down to the barest minimum. Buying from its farmers encourages them to farm and ensures all harvest is converted to cash for next season.. We don't have a consistent strategy. Again you are comparing apples with oranges. The underlying support that America has from other industries apart from agriculture is missing in countries like Nigeria as at now. We can not afford to import more than we export if we want our teeming population to have jobs, reduce poverty and strengthen our economy. America wasn't always a net importer of food, it was a big exporter but now they've grown very comfortable and can afford to import all manners of things. Isn't this part of what Trump is attempting to change? We need to protect our farmers at this point. |

sonnie10: I ton (20 of 50kg) of rice is $150 in Thailand and India Dollar at 355; $150 is about 53k naira. Meaning 20bags is 53k. Therefore one bag is #2650.
My question is, do Nigeria farmers use gold as fertilizer for for their own rice? With the huge difference in price, the temptation to continue to import is very high. I don't understand. The imported rice is far more expensive than the local one. |

Nairobi is a magnet of investors. It now, without doubt, the choice destination for multinational looking to expand operation in Africa. It already beat Joburg in that regard.
Nairobi is only UN HQ in the whole of SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE. Cattle struggling with motorists on Nairobi cbd roads.

Yobeezy: There's a bone of contention with the map and only little trust can be derived from it.Nigeria's electrification rates has never clinched beyond 55%, that's an open lie even if you confirm from the net.For Kenya it's fine, the rate was 64% in 2017 even if you confirm from different sources. Nobody is fighting with you, just acquit yourself with facts and stop being overzealous for nothing. Because the map bust your lies then it can't be trusted. You brought it yourself thinking the 73 written there represents 73% instead of 73 million people. You people are really desperate. How do you sleep at night by the way? |
