The resource deposits that God has blessed us with ensures Nigeria can generate revenue from mineral deposits exportation for the next 300years. Not including petroleum. We have a problem. America imports its staple food and still buys all the harvest from its farmers to ensure prices come down to the barest minimum. Buying from its farmers encourages them to farm and ensures all harvest is converted to cash for next season.. We don't have a consistent strategy.

Again you are comparing apples with oranges. The underlying support that America has from other industries apart from agriculture is missing in countries like Nigeria as at now. We can not afford to import more than we export if we want our teeming population to have jobs,reduce poverty and strengthen our economy. America wasn't always a net importer of food, it was a big exporter but now they've grown very comfortable and can afford to import all manners of things. Isn't this part of what Trump is attempting to change? We need to protect our farmers at this point.
