Education / Victimization on Campus: Can Silence Still Be Golden? by ADESOLA96(m): 11:39pm On Aug 12, 2018
CAN SILENCE STILL BE GOLDEN ?

By: Adesola Ikulajolu

Various atrocities has been rocking our institutions since the beginning of this year, some were being exposed while some are swept under the carpet because of fear. But the big question to ask ourselves is if "Silence is still Golden."

I was reading through a piece by a fellow campus journalist from Obafemi Awolowo University , Adejumo Kabir where he highlighted some of the victimizations happening in some institutions but no one seems bold enough to speak up.

The case of sex-for-mark in OAU,LASU and UNILAG are just one of the numerous one that is happening on campuses. Lots of students keep quiet when faced with molestations, harassments or victimization because of the fear of 'Certificate.'

Let me drive straight to the main issue in this piece.

The recent suspension and expulsion of students by school managements, especially campus journalists who are doing their work is appalling. School managements are seeing these students' journalists/writers as a threat to their unlawful acts.

Kunle Adebajo was suspended by University of Ibadan over an article that was published on the GUARDIAN newspaper in 2016. Being a final year student of Law, Kunle observed the poor facilities in UI's hostel and saw the need to carry out his role as a journalist in an attempt to see positive reply but reverse was the case.
Was he expected to keep silent in such case?

Daniel Osula, a student writer in Delta State University was expelled for exposing the evil act of his Head of Department. He was a final year student of Engineering. The HOD was said to have demanded for money for project. In addition to that, the HOD had asked everyone in the final level to contribute some certain amount for project presentation. But of the two times he requested for the money, nothing was done and the money wasn't traceable.
Daniel was just one of the few outspoken person but has decided to look on. Fortunately, an anonymous student who also felt the pain of the extortion, wrote a petition against the HOD and submitted to the necessary quarters. Daniel on his own part only showed his pain on FACEBOOK which the HOD saw.
He was summoned and expelled for posting the issue on his Facebook page, despite the several threats from his HOD.
Was he supposed to keep silent on such issue?

Another painful incident is the purported suspension of Ijioma Caleb who exposed the Students' Union President over cases of fund diversion.
Caleb happens to be the Public Relations Officer of the Union but he exposed the mismanagement after the President had forged the General Secretary's signature (they were the two signatories).
Why should Caleb be suspended for exposing such evil act. The accused President was never suspended for his illegal act neither were his accomplices expelled.

What a ridiculous act going on in our campuses.

Shall we continue like this? Some school managements are not ready to take to correction. Therefore, anyone who come their way will be shutdown.

Is this the period to say Silence is Golden? No.

We hope those who are speaking will continue. No one should shut us up.

In Kabir's words 'the world doss not celebrate cowards'. Let's rise, support and mobilize against students' victimizations.

Education / My Story: How To Inspire A Person by ADESOLA96(m): 12:05pm On Aug 09, 2018
YOU CAN INSPIRE ANYBODY.

Early this year around February, my kid sister's action has since been rolling on my mind and has kept me careful and responsive to things.

I was packing my things, planning to return back to school (before the AAUA TUITION FEE saga). I entered our mini library very close to my room to pack some books.

I stumbled on my Secondary school Calendar. It was folded.

My kid sister was with me trying to keep my company just as she was asking all sorts of questions.
I took the Calendar, unfold it and spread it on the floor.

It was a 2013 End of the Year Calendar;one of the many gifts given to us at the end of the year as a student of Assfood International College,Alapere Lagos State.

My picture (and that of a female friend-Osakuni Marvelous) was the one used for that year's Calendar.

Despite seeing me on the Calendar, my 5yrs old kid sister still asked: "Bodaa mihh is this you". I gave no answer as I look keenly at the Calendar and the people in it.

She said again "Prince (the name I'm being called at home) is this you and your friend, Answer." This time around was more demanding than the first.
I replied her "It is me and my friend."

"Why did they put you here," she asked.

I paused for some minutes before giving a reply. And my reply was....

"If you read and pass very well, they will put you on the Calendar. Not in my school oooo, in your own. If you take first in your exams... You have to read very well."

And she answered "I will read my books so that they can put me on the Calendar". I smiled just as I took hi-five with her.

Consecutively, she has featured in her school's yearly magazine. And each time I return home, she is always eager to show me. Always feeling Happy.
•••••••••
That shows how our actions and inactions can inspire others. Some people are always learning from us. Every of our actions is what they look up to.

We can all inspire anybody. People are on the look out for us. No matter how hard we hide, there is someone somewhere who is checking how far we've gone in life and ready to take same route.

BE AN INSPIRATION!!!

Crime / SAD STORY: How Suspected Cultists Killed Innocent Guy After Missing Target by ADESOLA96(m): 12:22am On Aug 08, 2018
... AAUA Students Not Involved In Cult Clash- P.R.O

By: Adesola Ikulajolu

23yr old Felix Olowokeere was shot by suspected cultists after missing their main target in Akungba-Akoko area of Ondo State when he visited his debtor.

It was gathered that Felix had gone to one of his debtors who was owing him #3,500 but met his absence and decided to wait for him.

The incident happened on Sunday morning around 8am at Cele street in Akungba-Akoko.

While confirming the incident, a brother to the deceased, Mr. Olorunsaanu Olowokeere said the cultists missed their target.

The debtor had earlier clashed with rival cult groups who traced him home that Sunday morning but unknowingly shot Felix who was waiting patiently to collect his money.

The deceased brother said: "He (Felix) went to meet someone who was owning him #3500 debt but on getting there he met his absence and decided to wait for him. Unknown to him the guy already has issue with rival cult group, they just met him at his place and shot him. It was on Sunday morning around 8am. They just mistarget."

Mr. Olorunsaanu who is a student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, added that "They (the suspected cultists) were even blaming themselves after the incident for mistargeting the boy according to someone who was hiding in a Bush."

Felix was rushed to the AAUA Health Center and was later transferred to the State hospital at Ikare-Akoko, a nearby community.

Felix was said to have died after getting to the State hospital through the help of the AAUA Dean of Students' Affairs, Prof. Francis Gbore and Students' Union President, Comrade Eyinla Temitope 'Boubow'.

"He was rushed to Health Centre and later to State Hospital by Boubow and Prof. Gbore. He died at the hospital," Olorunsaanu confirmed.

Close sources revealed that the Olowokeere's family had on Saturday celebrated the wedding ceremony of one of its daughters which Felix attended.

Some members of the family were at church service for the success of the Wedding when the news broke.

In a reaction to the incident, the Public Relations Officer of AAUA, Mr. Sola Imoru in a statement had said that students of the university were not involved in the clash.

The statement explained that the management "has been drawn to mischievous attempts by a cross section of the media to link the killing of one Felix Olowookere by suspected cultists last weekend to the students of the University.
Management would like to inform the general public that the story is fallacious and misleading as neither the deceased nor his alleged killers who the Police say are at large are students of the University."

The statement added that "the students of the university are currently on break following the conclusion of First Semester examinations last week."

Mr. Imoru however implored the general public " to disregard the misleading story as the university has no link whatsoever to the crime."

Meanwhile, condolences has began to pour in for deceased family.
Romance / Birthday: When I Met Olami by ADESOLA96(m): 11:56pm On Jul 06, 2018
WHEN I MET OLAMI.

I call her OLAMI,
A Young Lady of Dignity,

Surrounded with gentility;
I was married to her deeds.

A Lady of substance with great attitudes,
Her deeds are far beyond oceans;

Feats written in the sand of history,
I could dance on your Birthday to the many beats.

YOU are like a singer,
Amidst all drummers;

A medal given in a competition to the first contender,
A rare gem with undoubted character.

You are a Precious bird at hand,
There was once a time as infant;

You learnt to walk,
And learnt to talk.

Here you are Growing,
And also Glowing.
••••••
I can't forget in a hurry the amazing things we learned together and the awesome moment we spent together.

I would write on all oceans,
The seas would carry it;

The birds would not be left out of this,
They all be passing one Big Message.

I would write on all waters,
Such that when one touches you;

You would know how Interesting it is,
To have a Special person like YOU.

Born into ADEWUMI's family,
OLAMIDE lives with a Heart that is Happy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OLAMI.

Help me wish her...

Politics / 2019: I Have Ways Of Solving Current Challenges Facing The Nation-ojajuni by ADESOLA96(m): 8:33pm On Apr 28, 2018
Another Nigerian Youth, Prince Eniola Ojajuni Speaks With NF247 On His Plans As Nigeria's Choice In The 2019 Elections

NF247: How would you describe the Nigerian situation at this time?

EO: The Nigerian situation is a fundamental problem that is both chronic and systematic. Systematic in the sense that we attribute our progress to ethnicity and Religion, you either belong to this sector or member of this or that. It is not a system base on merit and what you can offer, it is a system started by our fore fathers, even the coup then was based on this assumption and the intervention could not correct it till date. It is a problem based on lack of Restructural tendency which need basis classification on the different inputs of the different section of the nation.

NF247: The problems of Nigeria are enormous, do you think these problems are surmountable.

EO: Yes, but until we do away with federalism of appointment and take to merit of gain, for placement and appointment into sensitive positive and allow merit to be the cardinal point of our progress as a nation this problem will remain.

NF247: Many have blamed recycling of leaders across the country, do you believe this is a hindrance to development?

EO: Recycling is not bad itself if we recycle to gain knowledge and ovate opening to new dimension as it is done but when recycling result in holding down the progress of the youth from evolving into leadership, then it pose a growth, this cannot allow any nation to grow without the younger one aspiring to be leader. It is a shame to any nation and it a trend in African where someone went to rule for 50years, it is bad, no progress can occur in the nation.

NF247: Bring us your ambition, what would you do differently from what the current leaders are doing at the helm?

EO: I tend to be a practical person to the question of Nigeria nation. First I understand the problem and in solving it, I tend to profer solving based on present reality of the Nigerian nation and my solution how practical are, they have to be able to solve the problem that is my Joker, furthermore, I will ask people to visit my site and read my 200 point agenda to move Nigerian forward.

NF247: Nigeria is largely a Muslim/Christian Nation, prayers go on daily, do you think these prayers have achieved much in terms of development and good governance?

EO: There is difference between Pragmatism and Reality, and dreaming why is it nation that is communist by nature and does not cultivate the of prayer or religion, it's two different coins has our religion nature stop corruption till date the answer is no we need to be patriotic and be focus on ideal that will balance the nation and move it forward. Religion will help us shape our moral, not on how to create tendency that will create jobs or move us forward to the desired goal.

NF247: We keep hearing about "What" people want to do when they come into office, how do you hope to tackle the hurdles in the Power, Education and Health sectors?

EO: Refers to my first point as in the issue of question 2, it is the same approach, I will be pragmatic in handling all these problem because it is part of what is holding us down. As regard the health sector, I intend to revive all our primary health care in which distance that people travel to get health care are reduced and increase the budget of this sector by 10% and allow the institutions to offer more health care services professional. While the educational budget would be increased by 15% and the fee reduced and massive habitation of all institution nationwide and welfare of all lecturer, taken care as to improved the morals in the sector on power, we first need to revise the issue of gas flaring and rehabilitate all the power plant by professionally looking at a new distribution grid nationwide, while state would be allowed to generate electricity and supply to the national grid. These are my policy statement, when we get there we will ovate the enabling environment to allow professionals be on board.

NF247: How is the Nigerian youth in your estimation to take on leadership roles?

EO: The Nigerian youth has ever been ready, but only need direction and reorientation as to know that they are the leaders of tomorrow which reason why I am offering myself and services to the nation.

NF247: What processes can truly guarantee that the right persons vie for and are elected into positions?

EO: Our elective process need overhaul from the party, money should not be the yardstick of Elective aspiration. Aspiration should be based on ideals, willingness to serve and articulation to be part of a new dimension. Our focus should be based on who is the best candidate that will serve us better not one who can spend more, or whom a Godfather is backing.

NF247: Has Nigeria benefitted from the kind of politics she has played since 1999?

EO: No? the Democracy of executive as the power should charge where we advocate a new regional power block, should be revise since he 1999system has failed.

NF247: What remarkable projects differentiates the GEJ led Government and the Buhari administration?

EO: The major differences are a bit shaky in the term that both administration is a recycled assembly of the same set of people in a new coat the same set of leaders are still, been planted on both leadership so, in term of comparism, it is a new cup with the same old wine.

NF247: Continuity seems to be a major issue when it comes to politics in Nigeria, how can that gap be bridged?

EO: I agree that we have had this problem spread over time from the military era to the new political dimension, it has all been the same, no new government see anything good of worthy continuation in the last govt., this is most time is not true, we need to revise past administration agenda and borrow from what can be use that will benefit the new administration.

NF247: Where do we draw the line between godfatherism and political mentorship in Nigerian politics?

EO: It is a good thing to be mentioned and to be mentioned and there are nothing honoring on having a godfather, but when mentorship and godfatherism result into a matter and share relationship with them, it is no more positive but negative

NF247: How do we re-ignite the spirit of patriotism?

EO: That is the new spirit we are building now in Nigerians. We are doing up with their pan. Nigerian initiative that will reunite the concepts of patriotism, where we put Nigerian first before our own self, what can I offer Nigeria, how will I build a nation where we work for a living not living for work.

NF247: Why do you think Nigeria needs you?

EO: Because from No. 1 question to this last one, I offer a different approve, something not seen or heard before, I intend to build a new Nigerian from the foundation where the resources of Nigeria will be used to revive the new Nigeria. I have develop 300 practical solution to more than 200 problem that has been unsurable for years I am young, energetic and brilliant, with the right sense of obligation to myself and the nation I see a new Nigeria in my dream and intend to build a new army of believer, where Nigeria will be great again self sustaining and regenerate the Nation of the Giant of Africa, not in name but in action.

One paramount thing we must all very in mind is that the power of any society lies in the working ability of its youths.

There comes a time in man's life when he learns to take hold of the future. The saying keeps passing from generation to generation that youths are the 'Future of tomorrow', and you would want to ask :when is the future? The future is now with right man of excellence who knows how to motivate and develop the youths into vibrant tools of development. Prince Eniola Ojajuni is like an iroko tree that stands tall among others with significant use and importance.

Youths are the beauty of a nation and as such must not be deprived of their rights. Let's think in a new dimension and not rot in the lies of the old gladiators who has so misled us. Youth must brace up and face the challenge before them and not give up on bad representation. Prince Ojajuni is one leader who is able to take the youths across the bridges they are afraid to go. Embrace the spirit of youthful recovery. A man of excellence is here for the youths.

Politics / Young Presidential Aspirant For 2019: Prince Ojajuni Eniola Movement by ADESOLA96(m): 3:12pm On Apr 21, 2018
Prince Ojajuni Iniola Joseph, a revered young Nigeria’s Presidential aspirant was born on the 28th of December, 1978 to the royal family of Ojajuni Karaki, descendant of Mesere family in Ugbo Kingdom, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Ojajuni is a house hold name family in Ilaje Local Government Area having children across the world, and in different ministries and agencies across Nigeria, who have made a mark in their chosen careers.

Eniola Joseph Ojajuni had his Primary School education in Ebute- Ipare Primary School, Ilaje Local Government Area, Ondo State. Were he proceeded to Ajao Estate High school in Anthony Village, Lagos.

Prince Eniola, who secured admission to the prestigious Lagos State University (LASU) in Ojo, Lagos, where he studied Law for his first degree and then proceeded to Ghana Business School to gain knowledge in Business Administration.

Eniola had been to various business schools across African countries and Europe.

He started his business career at a very tender age. As a young person, who developed interest in his mother’s business, Prince Eniola helped his mother in selling dried and smoked fish. His enthusiasm towards this business prompted some Lebanese, who dealt with importation of Fish at Ijora Olopa, Ijesha, to advise him to register a company that would enable him import Sardine Fish.

Eniola Ojajuni in his wisdom suggested to the Lebanese that instead of importing Sardine Fish, Nigeria can become a major produce of Sardine Fish since the commodity in abundance is in the coastal areas of Ondo state and other riverine areas in Nigeria, and all that was needed was branding and packaging.

The Lebanese developed interest in his idea and a proposal was written in this regard to the then Ondo State Governor, Late Olusegun Agagu in 2011. The then Ondo State Government was pleased with the proposed but due to lack of infrastructure, the implementation of the project was stopped.

In the same 2011, Prince Eniola proceeded into importing wines and commodity goods. He became a consultant to the then Oceanic Bank on investment banking and also a consultant to metropolitan bank on investment and strategy.

Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni is a consultant to Vega Foods, Singapore on Africa investment and also a consultant to Delta State Investment Agency on Direct Investment.

Prince Eniola Ojajuni has successfully written over 200 proposals to investors including over 25 state Governors, past and present in Nigeria. He has also written over 1,500 articles in the past 3 years on Investment and National Policy for Local newspapers in Nigeria and abroad.

Prince Eniola began his journey to Politics while in School. He once served as Students Representatives Council (SRC) in Lagos State University (LASU), 2002/2003 Academic session which led him become a member of the Alliance for Democracy (AD).

He contested for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Kosofe constituency II in 2015 under the Alliance for Democracy. In 2016, he was an aspirant during the Ondo State Gubernatorial Election.

Still relentless in making his dream for a better Nigeria a reality, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni has express optimism to run for the 2019 Presidential Election in Nigeria.

In 2017, at the Yoruba Youth Summit, he was presented with the creative leadership award by

voice of Yoruba Youth. Also in the same year, he was presented an award by the African Youth Initiative in Ghana as one of the Africa’s Enterprising Youth.

TUITION FEE SAGA: AAUASU ISSUE 7-DAYS ULTIMATUM TO GOVERNMENT

By: Adesola Ikulajolu

As the tension over the lateness in resumption gets thicken, Ondo State owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, through its Students' Union has issued a Seven days ultimatum to the government to address the issue.

This was made known in a statement released by the Union under the leadership of Comrade Ijanusi Olawale pka 'Optimum', saying that the government has shown no concern over the issue.

Recall that the visitor to the institution, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN said in his speech during the last convocation ceremony that the tuition fee would be reviewed upwardly.

All speculations in the delay of the students resumption is pointed towards the proposed plan to increase the tuition fee, the union maintained.

The union in its statement noted that the students has been on break for about 80days and nothing has been said concerning resumption.

"Today makes it 80days that we have been made to sit at home since the 2016/2017 academic session ended."

"It is quite pathetic and sardonic that the government has been quite undisturbed by this disheartening predicament."

"The government has been so unperturbed by the fact that we are wallowing and wasting away at home. We have wasted a whole semester at home doing nothing."

The union also lamented the inability of the government and its appointed governing council to take quick decision on the issue.

Recall that the Governor appointed the Governong Council of Ajasin Varsity to be chaired by Dr. Tunji Abayomi, a human right activist and son of the state.

While lamenting, the union through its statement cleared that the students can no longer keep mute but must take actions to get the needed attention.

"The hope of our 500L Law students going to Law School is now hanging in the wind."
'We are made to go through all this unpalatable rigours all because of the unfortunate indecisiveness of the government."

"We have been silent enough. We will not allow the administration of the government to toy with our future. We have been pushed to the wall, and it is now highly sacrosanct, germane and imperative to take our destiny into our hands," the union said.

The union however, issued a 7-days ultimatum beginning on the from 2nd of April, 2018. The ultimatum is for the government and the council to facilitate the process for the students to resume back to school.

It says "On this note, we are strongly giving out a 7-working-days ultimatum to the government and also to the governing council of AAUA, to facilitate all necessary necessities to bring about the resumption of AAUA.This ultimatum count down shall kickstart on monday, 2nd of April 2018."

In an earlier release by the union, it stood its stand against the purported hike in fee, saying that the government should not embark on such move. It was made clear by the union that all they demanded for is 'No Increment'.

"Failure of the government and the governing council to do the needful will draw the wrath of the Nigerian students. As we will be left with no choice than to take to center stage," the union said.

Education / Tuition Fee Hike: Student Union Attacks Governor Akeredolu(Read Statement) by ADESOLA96(m): 1:56pm On Mar 23, 2018
*BEING A PRESS RELEASE OF THE STUDENTS UNION, ADEKUNLE AJASIN UNIVERSITY, AKUNGBA-AKOKO, ON THE PROPOSED ARBITRARY INCREMENT OF TUITION FEE OF STUDENTS*

We address this international press conference to state categorically and emphatically the stand of the Students’ Union over the proposed increment of the tuition fee of the students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.
On the 9th December, 2017, Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu made an emphatic statement that there would be an “upward review” in the fee paid by students of the institution. Having properly amained that statement however, with due consultation with the rank and file of members of our Students’ Union, we therefore make the following statements:

• The Students Representative Council, being the body directly representing the interest of the students, having consulted with the students from all departments in the university, and vehemently reject and stand against any increment in the school fee.

• The current Students’ Union under the leadership of Ijanusi Olawale, having consulted with the general populace, parents, relevant stakeholders, have also come to conclusion that any form of increment is unjustifiable, anti-masses, anti-student and anti-worker.

• The government, through its parastatals has been giving pathetic but flimsy excuse, such as the Commissioner for Information giving the reason for the increase as the disparity in the school fees of AAUA and other Ondo State owned institutions.

• We make bold to say that the government by implication wants to make life unbearable for the masses; the children of whom dominate the studentry of AAUA.

• The Students’ Union is of the view that, if the government has not increased its funding, how does it turn around to increase the fees of students? Are students supposed to pay for its irresponsibility and nonchalance towards its own institution?

• For the past ten (10) years, the Government have been saddled with the responsibility of managing the current fee. If they can do it for this long, then the Government can do it for more years. If anything must be changed at all, it should be the government attitude towards its institution.

• We make bold to say that AAUA is an oasis in the desert, and a reliever of the burden of educating students of Ondo State. Many of our students are children of the masses, petty traders, self-sponsoring physically challenged individuals and children of civil servants who survive on low income and/or inconsistent salaries.

• If the proposed school fee is favourable, it will not be suggested that we pay twice.

• If we can recall, it is notable that during the previous economic recession faced by the nation, the previous government of Ondo State did not make such move as increasing the tuition paid by students in this institution; and today, the university management/State Government parade with a non-realistic figure of expending five hundred (N500) on each student on daily basis

• The recent claim by the university management cum the State government that it spends Five Hundred Naira (N500) on every student on daily basis is not only preposterous and iconoclastic but can also be likened to the myopic claim of the Nigerian government of spending Fourteen Thousand Naira (N14,000) on each inmate per day; it is absolute falsehood. An institution that makes its students pay for every service offered to students, and has never provided some dire basic academic needs such as free internet, substantial health services is making such frivolous claims.

• The government should increase the Internally Generated Revenue of the University to alleviate the financial woes of the institution.

• AAUA has a history of producing outstandingly brilliant students such as the popularly known Awe Fredrick, Opeyemi Alonge, Faith Falade, Kazeem Olanrewaju etc. Consequently, the Rotimi-Akeredolu-led government intends to dismantle history right before our eyes.

• The statement of the Commissioner for Information, that AAUA has a faculty of Engineering is evident enough being a fact that the government lacks adequate information about “its own institution”, and this shows the government’s lack of vision and passion for the welfare of the students of AAUA.

It is imperative we make the State government, under the hegemony of Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu recall one of its promises towards education during the electioneering process. He stated categorically that there would be no iota of increment in the tuition fee should he emerge as rumored earlier. Coming up with a contrary decision against his promise can be termed as delusion and hanky-panky exhibited on the path of the government.

On a final note, we wish to categorically without fear or favour reiterate that we will vehemently reject any form of increment, and that we will not allow ourselves to be subjected to any form of intimidation, oppression, victimization and threat, as traditional and conventional reactions to our past comrades. Any attempt attempted by any attempter to infringe on our legitimate rights, will be met with massive resistance by the rank and file of students and notable dignitaries across the country and diaspora.

*In a nutshell, we say NO TO INCREMENT IN SCHOOL FEES!*

*God Bless AAUASU!*
*God Bless AAUA!*
*God Bless Ondo State!*
*God Bless Nigeria!*

Education / NANS Ondo Treasurer To Akeredolu: "Face Industrialization, Leave Tuition Fee" by ADESOLA96(m): 10:28pm On Mar 22, 2018
By: Adesola Ikulajolu

As the information on the plan to increase tuition fee in Ondo State-owned institutions especially Adekunle Ajasin Varsity gets thickened, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN has been advised to face Mass Industrialization.

This call was made by Comrade Ajewole Oluwatosin (AWO), the Treasurer of National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) Ondo States Axis.

He said "attention has been drawn to the proposed hike in the tuition fees of State owned tertiary institutions which kick started with Ondo State University of Technology (OSUTECH) with fresh students paying #250,000 as school fees. And it is mooted in that Dr. Tunji Abayomi, Chairman of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba (AAUA) Governing Council, said school fees will be increased by over 500 percent."

He registered his displeasure over the Akeredolu's government that should have given more than it's doing now.

Comr. Ajewole maintained that the Ondo State has failed students and the plan to to increase AAUA by 500% is irresponsible.

He said "To say I am disappointed is the least I can come up with as I never expected much good from Aketi's Israel - just as Ondo State citizens now understand that the State 419ism of the saillion
king misgovernment."
"Ondo State government has failed the students mass at large. It is
abominable and certainly not acceptable as it is a stark demonstration of recklessness and irresponsibility for any government to increase school fee by over 500 percent. Mr. Governor, this is gross abuse of power tilted towards making the masses pay for their lack of discerning powers for choosing you ahead of others during the last guber poll."

The Comrade reminded Governor Akeredolu of his promises during the election campaign but lamented that he is doing contrary.

" You promised us good governance, but you are blessing us with insecurity. Implementation of this devilish increment only means we will have more illiterates and drop outs in our dear Sunshine State and this only
portends doom and gloom," Comr. Ajewole said.

He added that " No doubt, ODSG is suffering from paucity of funds to manage the institutions but a leader should face mass industrialization."

The Ajasin Varsity Comrade advised the Govenof to revive "Owena Holdings; Ifon Ceramic; Araromi Rubbers; Okitipupa Oil Palm; Arigidi Tomatoes Paste; Oluwa Glass; and Cocoa industries, saying that "Only two of these working fully can help to offset unemployment and wage bills that are currently used as excuse by a government that has made multiples of what it met in the state coffers."

He however told the Governor to remember the legacy of past leaders and any attempt to perform unbearable will cause havoc in the state.

In his words "forget not the AAUA is a legacy bequeathed to us by Adefarati, Agagu and Mimiko. Any attempt to take it beyond reach will only spell doom as you might have to double your security vote after the increment."

Education / NANS Ondo Axis Finally Writes Akeredolu Over Fee Hike by ADESOLA96(m): 4:46pm On Mar 22, 2018
By: Adesola Ikulajolu

The National Association Nigerian Students (NANS) Ondo Axis has written to the Ondo State Government over the proposed plan to increase tuition fee.

A statement was released by the Chairman, Comr, Adebowale Azeez to address the issue.

Below is the Statement:

Executive Governor of Ondo State,
His Excellency,
Arakunrin Akeredolu Odunayo,
Governor’s Office
Alagbaka,
Akure.
Through;
The Honorable commissioner of Education,
Hon. Femi Agagu
Alagbaka,
Akure,
Ondo State.
Sir,
YOUR EXCELLENCY, A STITCH IN TIME, SAVES NINE
Greetings.
Your Excellency, now is the right time you make yourself approachable and responsive to constructive opinions and must not be petty, but fair, firm and decisive. As a cultured Yoruba man, I know it's you elders who say if a child defecates, obvious common sense suggests that the parents should rush to a place of convenience to clean the child. It is assumed that the common good takes precedence over all actions and not the parent’s ability to bear the offensive odour. Ruling Ondo state is a very serious and tasking business. Ondo is far bigger than personal relationships. And anyone who does not understand this does not understand Ondo state at all.

Sir, I am writing you in respect of the proposed hike in tuition of state owned tertiary institutions which has commenced in Ondo State School of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH).  Your recently appointed Chair of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko Governing Council, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, has only used his office to make judgmental pronouncement on AAUA fee hike. This pronouncement would have been ignored, but for its obvious links to the same views expressed by some other government officials.

Dr. Tunji Abayomi threw his integrity as a proven activist away into the bin of inconsequential history in his desperate attempt to promote your narratives.
The entire Ondo state students are seriously angry and worried about this proposed hikes in Tuition fees across Ondo state institutions.

Before it is too late, Mr. Governor, you must address all these issues to calm the frayed nerves of the already infuriated and visibly furious Nigerian Students boiling with rage and anger.

Mr. Governor, if increasing tuition fees in Ondo state won’t grow our GDP, then there’s no point increasing our fees thereby placing more hardship on the already improvised students of Ondo state. We have to understand that our National goals can be achieved using education as a tool.
As a background, Arakunrin, you were a beneficiary of free education policy, so it beats my imagination why you should deny this generation of the absolutely free and qualitative education you benefitted from.
Let’s not create the impression that there’s no money in this state to the citizens of Ondo state. For crying out loud, we have all the resources and what it takes to conveniently offer free education to the people of Ondo state. Putting it to judicious use is the bane of our society. How do we explain you getting over Seven Hundred Million naira(#700,000,000) monthly as Security vote while our schools lack funds to power generating sets? If the status quo remains, Your Excellency, you might need to double your vote on security as students will resort to self help.
We understand Education is an expensive social service and requires adequate financial provision from all the tiers of government for successful implementation. And financing education is a joint responsibility of the state government, local government and in some cases the private sector.

Just in One year, the administration you lead has increased tuition fee in Ondo state University of Science and Technology and also discontinued the payment of West African Examination Council fee of Final year students of Public secondary schools in Ondo state. We begin to wonder your real intents for our dear Sunshine State.

Instead of creating wrong impressions and increasing the political temperature among Ondo state citizens, friends and family of the State that the government is perturbed or perhaps confused, the government should try and do some financial re-engineering in its budget which can substantially improve positive educational outcome in students by placing emphasis on consulting expert opinions, focusing on outcome of its decisions and Adopting a data based problem solving intervention. Nigeria students do not want to assume the government is confused as this administration need to be purposeful and enlightened.
The task ahead of the government calls for sacrifices and self-discipline at all levels of the government.

Sir, we wish to implore the government to build a truly democratic state in which all the students and good citizens of the state will live in peace and freedom, where our rights and aspirations will be respected and protected.

Your administrations should vigorously pursue the promotion of peace across our tertiary institutions and our communities at large.
We believe and feel strongly committed to the free education policy of Obafemi Awolowo, Pa Adekunle Ajasin(your kinsman), Tai Solarin among others so therefore, Mr. Governor we can pay these heroes no better tribute than to continue in the spirit with which they had led the country in time past by the uniquely positioned educational standards used to prepare students in order to be able to meet the demands of the world in which they live in which today you are a bonafide and proud product of that system.
And in other for our generation not to be a personification of what Prof. Wole Soyinka referred to as “wasted generation” then you should not commercialize education in Ondo state.

Looking at the beneficial effect of free education, we will have more Senior Advocates of Nigeria who can draft deeds of conveyance like our dear Governor, we will have more accountants who can balance books, language graduates who can translate letters and of course pressmen who will mind their business.

Despite the inexplicable and the barbaric attitude of the students’ of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo RUGIPO, we will not support a government who cannot resist the temptation of keeping our best Polytechnic in Nigeria which current  session started in 2016 and absurdly still runs into 2018. It's been closed down till further notice.
Had the polytechnic remained closed much longer, it is conceivable that we will have more miscreants, internet fraudsters, prostitutes, drug dealers, cultism and many more vices among our youths in Ondo state.

Thanks in anticipation of your prompt and favorable response.
Yours in students’ emancipation.

Signed:
Adewunmi Azeez Adebowale

Education / AAUA: Students Panic Over 200,000 Tuition Fee Speculation As Union Intervenes by ADESOLA96(m): 1:23am On Mar 16, 2018
... Governing Council To Meet With Parents

By: ADESOLA IKULAJOLU

In a meeting held with the newly inaugurated Governing Council, the Ajasin Varsity Students' Union has stood against the speculated tuition fee increase of 200,000 by the state government.

In a statement signed by the Union President, Comr.Ijanusi Olawale on Thursday, the meeting was closed-door and lasted for over Five hours.

It was learnt that the meeting was to seek a way forward on the proposed plan by the Ondo State Government to increase tuition in the institution.

Part of the statement read:
"In the meeting, we had a long-term discussion, which involved arguments, disagreements, understanding and other things of such, which majored on the basis that the school fee should not be increased."

However, in the heat of discussion, it was said that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu is proposing a fee not less than Two Hundred Thousand (200,000). It was also revealed in the statement that the Union vehemently stood against it.

"In the meantime, we have been made to realize, by this meeting, that the Governor in person of Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu only entertains a proposition of a minimum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (#200,000), which the Students Union leaders frankly disagreed with," the statement reads.

After serious deliberation, the Governing Council accepted the stand of the Union and made known its intention to relay it to the Governor.

Also, the Council headed by the Pro-Chancellor, Dr.Tunji Abayomi also made it known that he and his members would meet with the parents to discuss the issue.

According to the statement, "... the Pro Chancellor/ Chairman Governing Council concluded that he would meet with the Governor, and relate our position and plea with him."
"Also he added that the Governing Council will be having a meeting with parents on Thursday, 22nd of March 2018 at the university Obasanjo Multipurpose Hall. 11am."

In its stand against the proposed plan, the Union has remained unshaking and unrelenting.

The Union however "... implore all students of Adekunle Ajasin University to continue with trusting the capability and powerof unity in our decision as we all stand together on the fact that our school fee needs no increment."
