Congrats to Eagles and Nigeria on reaching the semi finals. The eagles came out to play today and were rewarded with a sweet victory. I don’t think it is right to condemn those nairalanders that did not give the Eagles a chance against the Ivoriens. The eagles that played against the Ivoriens played with a different mentality compared to what we saw in the group stages. They were aggressive and at the same time played confidently. They took the game to the Ivoriens and fought hard for all the balls. If they had played like that in the group stages, I don’t think anyone will write them off. Again, the team is a work in progress. I hope the NFF and the sports ministry keep Keshi until after the 2014 world cup adventure and then hire a foreign coach to lead Nigeria to 2018 world cup. Even though we have few local coaches that are well rated , I do believe that a first class foreign coach will be best for the Super Eagles at the world cup in 2018. That is just my opinion and I have considered many factors before reaching that conclusion. If the Eagles failed to win this nations Cup, I am satisfied with their performance today for it showed that the players are not as bad as I thought and Keshi is not a disappointment after all. The display I saw today has been the best Eagles performance in a long time and I am really proud of them even if they had ended without a win tonight.
Sports / Re: Ethiopia Vs Nigeria - AFCON 2013 (0 - 2) On 29th January 2013 by adevest: 9:33pm On Jan 29, 2013
Congratulations to Nigeria for qualification to next round. Based on what I saw today, I will suggest that Nigeria should hire a foreign coach at the end of our World Cup adventure. I stongly disagree that keshi be fired and replaced befor the World Cup, as doing that will continue the bad cycle of hiring and firing that has not helped our football. The new coach when hired after the world cup shold be given a 4-5 years contract to take us to the world cup in 2018. Before that time I think we need to rejuvenate our local league. The seeming lack of quality players at the national level now is due to our poor league level. These present Eagles cannot be called super. Many of them are average players. Worst still, Coach Steven Keshi has been a huge dissapointment. He is not the same Keshi, that I know as a player, commanding the defence of the Super Eagles and the team as a whole. He has failed to introduced any tactics into the team. His team selection and substitutions are suspect in the Eagles three games. Take for instance, he is playing three midfielders and three strikers at the same time. Based on my observation he only need one striker or two at a time. He could played Emenike and Uche together, with Uche as the first striker and Emenike supporting him. Emenike is strong, and with good support from the midfield, will be a torn in the flesh of any team ala Amokachi. While Uche will be the dribbler on the left and goal poacher in the middle. Playing three strikers together does not make sense to me. That is why they all became selfish in the box. Remember in the days of Westerhoff, Yekini was the main striker, while Amokachi or Siasia supports. If you must play in the wings by using Musa, then he needed to be instructed to always find the #1 striker first. But I doubt if Keshi gave such instructions, because Musa was wasteful and ineffective trying to outdo himself. For now, I think the midfield is not too bad. Mikel is doing a better job. Ogude however should be more disciplined, otherwise he is going to cost his team some matches in the future from red card bookings. The defence today is better but too slow to react. Echiejile, will never be in my team. I like that Mba boy, he is confident and he actually rattled the keeper today with a well taking shot. He will need more playing time to grow more in confidence and mature into a great player. I think Yobo should not be part of the team after the AFCON. He is done and out.

Some people have said here that this team is the worst team from Nigeria.I completely disagree. Have you forgotten the team that went to 2010 nations cup and world cup.

Finally, Nigerians should not take another rash decision to disband this team afer the AFCONS. There is no coach that can perform any wonders between now and the world cup. We should just give our best advise and support the team and put pressure on the NFF and sports ministry to appoint a good foreign coach after the world cup to build a new team from our local league. Those players coming out of our local league knows what Nigerians espect of them.

If the Ethiopia team beat Nigeria, then we need to withdraw from all competitions ASAP to start another rebuilding. The Ethiopians are down right now and they are not as strong as the two teams we ve met so far. I bet my 10 cents we beat them and qualify to next round.

Great win for BF. And to all Super Eagles fans on this forum who had crucified the Eagles for not taking the ball to the corner flag and run out the time in their last game agaist BF, you can see clearly now that if Uche and Musa had not been selfish in the box, Nigeria could have been 3-0 up before that mistake that allowed the BF equalizer. You could actually score easily against a team desperately looking for an equalizer even when playing 10 men vs 11 men. I think the Eagles can beat the Ethiopians who will never be able to play their best game anymore in this competition. They are down and it will take a miracle for them to recover against Nigeria. Go Eagles!

You misunderstood me. It is obvious to everyone watching that game, that for the most part of the second half, the Burkinables had more ball posession as they were looking to equalize. If the Eagles had played better coordinated game in their attack, they would have scored and take the steam out of the Burkinables. But alas, they actually chose to play it safe for the most part of that second half. That is what was wrong because it gave the Burkinables the fire to keep coming back which eventualy led to the goal. I WAS NOT SUPRISED THAT THE BURKINABLES EQUALIZED, I WAS EXPECTING THEM TO DO JUST THAT because the eagles were playing safe. I have seen that happened many times over.
Sports / Re: AFCON: Nigeria Vs Burkina Faso (1 - 1) On 21st January 2013 by adevest: 9:15pm On Jan 21, 2013
Guys relax! There were mistakes made in the game, but are you seriously expecting anything more. Firstly, the Burkinables deserve the equalizer, as they did most of the attacking football the whole of the second half. The Nigerian players are yet to gel completely. The midfield and the attackes are yet to fully understand themselves. Also, I will suggest that Coach Keshi should go with only one striker at a time and with instructions to his forwardline to identify the lone striker force whenever they are in the box. I saw a lot of selfish play by Musa and Uche. I was amused when Keshi was comparing this team to the 94 eagles. Not even close. However, they could possibly be polished to play at the same leve as that reverred team. As Rufai said, that 94 team was together for 5 years and they played in two nations cup together including the qualifers before winning in 94 and exhibiting their talents at the world cup.

Overall, this is not the time to blame the coach or the players, but to offer them the way forward. Many on this forum had suggested that the players should have run out the time. I totally disagree. If they have scored the second goal instead, it would have demoralize the Burkinables. And at the time when the Burkinables were desperately looking for the equalizer is perfect timing. Unfortunately, the mistake was made. Ok. It is not the end of the world. The team should be allowed tolearn and adjust and ganner experience and confidence which is still lacking. Even the Burkinables seems more composed than our own super eagles. Friends! the present crop of players are potential super eagles and not the real super eagles, we should therefore not expect too much from them at this time. Remember, the super eagles were renamed so only after they have proven themselves.

It is a good thing that Nigerians are not expecting too much from these players. That will reduce the pressure on them and I think they will do well eventually. The players selected are good but are yet to gel as a team. They are also not confident enough due to the expectations Nigerians always places on them. If they could get out of the group stage in AFCON, it will be difficult to stop them. I am also hopeful that the rebuilding process started by Keshi is moving forward with the world cup in view.
Good luck to the team.
Up Eagles!

Try atdhetv.net on match day and click on match link.
Also try firstrow.com for tv links.
You can also search "free soccer links" on google, and you will see several websites where you coud watch soccer for free. In most cases you will have to download an application/software like windows media to watch. Make sure to install antimalware on tour computer before you try all these links as many of them are infected. However with a good anti virus and antimalware program, you have nothing to fear.
good luck.

Great List. We dont want players with bloated egos in the team anymore. Keshi is playing Westerhof's game. No player is bigger than the team. Keshi, Rufai, Sia One among others were put in their place by no nonsense Westerhof and the players in question learnt their lessons and Nigeria was better for it. Well done Keshi!

Sports / Re: Enyeama Apologises To Siasia And Nigerians by adevest: 5:28am On Sep 11, 2011
Having read what most people are saying here it is my conviction that most Nigerians did not understand the whole issues here.

First, it is the right of Enyeama and the other players to make known their reservations about the travel arrangement but they went too far by refusing to board the plane thereby delaying the flight of the team to Madagascar for a CRUCIAL encounter.

Siasia did the right thing by enforcing discipline in the team. However he could have fined the players or punish them prospectively in the future. The match in Madagascar was too CRUCIAL for the nation and every one of our best should be available.

Having said that NLs should remember as somebody pointed out here that Siasia himself was not a very disciplined player under Westerhof and he got punished severally. In fact, he displayed his indiscipline on the field one time by refusing to pass the ball to a better placed/positioned player in a world cup qualifying and was axed by Westerhof.

I therefore expect him to be strict with his players but at the same time fatherly.
Politics / Re: Obj Vs Ibb: You’re An Ingrate, Fani- Kayode Tells Obasanjo by adevest: 4:51am On Aug 23, 2011
Ii
nteresting. I wonder why Fani- Kayode issued this statement because he contradicts himself in some many words. First, he states that OGJ is the greatest president in our history ( I agree 100%)as the records speak for themselves ,and later, he says that IBB is the better man because IBB stands by his loyalists. He does not say anything about IBB's Horrific perfomance as president which is the theme of this debate and controversy. He conveniently forgot that IBB fired the first shot in this war of words between the two former presidents. That IBB saved OBJ's life by foiling Dimka's coup is such a silly and immature statement coming from Fani Kayode. IBB was performing his duty as a loyal officer of the Nigerian armed forces and not for the interest of OBJ.
There is just no comparison between the two men.OBJ is a builder, IBB is a destroyer. The records are there. Though it might appear that OBJ failed in his attempt to rebuild and revitalise our nation, that was simply because the collapse and rot in the system was much more severe than any one ever imagined. We must give OBJ credit for his sincere and dogged effort. The same cannot be said of IBB who, with his band of vultures and jackals(the so-called IBB boys or loyalists) destroyed our educational system, our health system, our infrastructures, our police force, our currency, the judiciary, our industrial sectors, and the armed forces etc etc. Loyalist my foot. I'm happy that Fani -Kayode acknowledges that OBJ is not and has never been beholden to any so-called loyalist.
I wonder how many loyalist IBB would have had by now if he did not fraudulently enrich himself and his so-called loyalist.
OBJ is human and although his loquacious personality might have diminished his peformance in office, I am very proud of his many achievements and his dogged commitment to the Nigerian project.
Unfortunately, OBJ has become everyone's whipping boy. I imagine that his main crime wouldi that he dislodged thousands of our parasitic elites  from their cozy feeding positions.
WE ARE THE UNGRATEFUL ONES. We celebrate our fools and calumnized our heroes.

Thank you Gobexl. Nigerians easily forget what the country was like before the second coming of OBJ. To as many people who remain sane and dispassionate in their assessment of OBJ's time in office, he is the best Nigeria's president to date in terms of performance. He was not saintly but no one can accuse him of not being a true Nigerian patriot. I am not happy with some of his decisions or actions but I will not close my eyes to the facts that are still speaking till today. It is the politics of the day to bash OBJ therefore one is not surprised that he remains the talk of the town long after his administrations.

If only you could respect other people's opinion you will do much better than you are doing now. Learn not to be full of yourself. I can tell you also that there are many out there that are convinced that Pastor Chris is for real' regardless of your opinion. You know what? They are probably right. It is not for you to determine who is blind or not. Spiritual matters are spiritually discerned. That is why many well read people still believe in God and obey his servants even when such servants are not as educated.
Religion / Re: Pastor Chris Charges Gate Fees For Watch Night Service? by adevest: 4:38am On Jan 12, 2011
I think enough has been said already. It is time to move on. However I will plead with forumites that has said anything bad against Pastor Chris and any man of God for that matter to ask for forgiveness. The reason is simple. If at the end of it all we all found out that there is indeed that someone called God; there is a heaven and a hell; Pastor Chris and the other maligned pastors are true men of God and the word of God is true about you not rubbishing God's servants. Then it will be disastrous for all those who has spoken ill of the men of God here.
This is why everyone of us should learn to be temperate in our discourse. You can all make your points without using abusive languages.

Note: Please don't abuse me if you disagree with me. It is a free world. I am entitled to my opinion just as you.
Religion / Re: Pastor Chris Charges Gate Fees For Watch Night Service? by adevest: 2:29am On Jan 08, 2011
@deezle,

My goal was not to compare what happened at Christ Embassy with that statement from Jesus. I was just interested in knowing the take of those people on this forum that has been speaking for Jesus would be like. The people that love Jesus so much but hated his servants.

So after you read the whole chapter of that bible passage, what did it say to you. Is it humanly justifiable for the master of the house to have done what he did. the poor servant in question afterall kept the money in a safe place based on his understanding. However it seems that Jesus was in support of that master.

Anyway, the point I am trying to make was that we cannot understand the ways of God without the Spirit of God. Many people here abusing Pastor Chris anyhow cannot claim to belong to Jesus when they do not have his Spirit. And so whatever they do not understand they condemn.

I do believe.

Enough guys. Leave the man of God alone. Before Jesus his master he stands or fall. More-so, those that paid did so freely. You cannot judge on matters that concerns the emotions of people.

If you would not have paid, Fine. But stop judging those that did as fools or the man of God as a thief.
Many have commented here that Jesus will not do such a thing.

But have you read in the scripture that Jesus said: "Unto every man that has, shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but from him that has not shall be taken away even that which he has" Matthew 25: 29.

So all of you out there trying to castigate Pastor Chris, what have you to say to that statement of Jesus.?
Politics / Re: Pdp Is Leading In Delta Re-run Election Again! by adevest: 11:58pm On Jan 07, 2011
@papabrowne,

Thanks for your analysis. You understand the country's politics and i am sure you have been involved for long. Another point I like to add is that the populace still believe in godfathers and opinion leaders. Those are the people that speaks and others will follow. Any political party that think they can win election on the pages of newspapers is only deceiving herself, the elites and the world.

Another thing that has baffled me with Nigeria is that whenever PDP loses at the courts then people start saying that Judiciary is our hope. But wait until PDP now wins at the courts, then the same people say the Judiciary is corrupt. When PDP loses an election, then it is free and fair. But wait until pDP wins again then the election is rigged, Haba!
Admittedly most Nigerians in general do not want to lose at all and they will blame others for their misfortune.
Many of the noise makers on this forum were the same people that told us that Maurice Iwu was the problem with our elections. Alas! we have only done election in one single state with Jega in charge, and still the election is not free. Can't we look to ourselves and admit that we as a nation are not ready for a free election. I am bold to say here that most elections that Iwu conducted were actually fair but not free. But that was not Iwu's fault. The people themselves, I mean the majority has to stand up for a FREE and Fair election otherwise no election in Nigeria will be acceptable.
The 1993 election has been adjudge as the best. Why? The whole country came together to ensure the elections were free so that the military could go.
Religion / Re: Pastor Chris Charges Gate Fees For Watch Night Service? by adevest: 6:36am On Jan 07, 2011
Nigerians can be very funny. No matter what you do someone will fault you. If the studio could actually take only 25,000 people and they all paid 1000 naira each, so the meager 25 million naira ( approx: 160,000 dollars will be enough to pay for the broadcasting of the program live to the whole world?.  You guys must be clueless.

People should be reasonable. Not every pastor is after money. Not all politicians loot public funds.

If your mindset is so corrupted don't assume everybody is thinking that way.
