Where in oyo state?
Its not.too early to start cultivation.
Watermelon takes 3 month to mature and if you start late, by the time the melon begins to produce balls and the rain is too much, then the yield will be drastically reduced.

And can I get ur e-mail to discuss more closely about market. Thanks

Lesgupnigeria:

Well, you have done well and your suggestion is welcome.
I guess you are based in the north where by this time of the year, there is usually no occurence of rain.
Take watermelon for instance, it does not actually need much consistent rain but more sunlight provided its planted when the soil is moist and soft.
Once in a week or once in two weeks rain is sufficient for it to.grow.
In some part of ogun,Lagos state and ibadan,if you are not planting watermelon now, you may be late.
By the time the watermelon start producing balls during the heavy rainy season, you can.be assure of zero harvest because the too much rain will spoil those balls.
This also applies to some other crops.
One need to.bring in a whole lot of factor for a successful agribusiness venture;marketing, time of planting, nature of crop to be planted

All of these have been brought into the equation through my own personal experience before stating those best time for cultivation of the crops.

You cannot just plant during abundance of rain and not put into consideration your market and the nature of crops to be planted, whether the rain will favour it or not.

I hope you get it

Thanks for your expertise views.
I have been contemplating on planting melon (egusi) on a very large scale this march but I am not certain of the market infact I have not been able to get concrete info. But then I have heard a lot about the supposed high returns of water-melon (the fruit), and now I stumbled on your thread. My thinking is drifting now towards the latter as I can be sure of the market (at least with ur help). But my questions are that is it not too really too late to plant Water-melon in March here in Oyo state? Secondly, do you have info on the marketability of Egusi. Then for an agric starter like me, am I also able to get subsidized seeds and inputs or even credit support?. Thanks.

Jokes Etc / GEJ And Abati: A Conversation by adewusi(m): 9:55pm On Feb 01, 2015
On a Thursday evening...In the Presidential bedroom. Mr President lying in bed, back towards the door, on the side of the bed closer to the door. Thick blanket covering him up to his neck. Some rhythmic sound is audible... The first lady lay by his side.

(A knock is heard on the door...Mr President says to enter, half-awake....Door opens )

GEJ: (turning towards the door, pushes down blanket to his waist... Yawns) Oh Reuben, its you...You're still awake?

Abati: (wearing a half-buttoned white shirt, looking worn-out from a busy day) Mr President sir, there's a situation...

GEJ: Abaaaaaatiiiii you have come again o. What is it this time?

Abati: Situation report says some more persons have been kidnapped in Borno by BokoHaram this... (GEJ cuts in)

GEJ: Ooooohhhhh. This BokoHaram will not allow one to sleep again oo ehn. Wetin sef. Ok, how many people did they take this time?

Abati: Report says about 100, mostly elderly women.

GEJ: Its about 100 this time? You see, when I tell people we are winning this war, they won't believe me. Last time they raided Chibok, was it not more than double this figure? Abati go and sleep jare.

Abati: Mr President sir, it's a serious situation. There is even an on-going report of... (GEJ interrupts again)

GEJ: Abaaaati, wait first. Where did you get this report from?

Abati: I saw it first on BBC News then AlJaz...

GEJ: BBC? Have you seen it on CNN?

Abati: Uhm... Not yet Mr President. It's just breaking and...

GEJ: See Reuben, there is no way 100 people will disappear in this country that America will not know. America will know and they will inform us first thru CNN...

Abati: Mr President, with due respect sir, Agence France is also reporting it alongside a latest video showing Shekau threatening.

GEJ: (yawns again) Shekau is dead. Chris and Mary told me separately that they killed him already. Lemme see the video.

Abati: Mr President, I'm afraid you may have to come to the situation room for that sir.

GEJ: Situation room this night? Haba! See, there is no problem God cannot solve. God will bring all of them back in His own time. We have prayed for them when we went to Israel. And we'll keep praying. Infact, myself and Dame just finished praying for the Chibok girls about 20mins ago.

(Turns to his previous position, pulls up the blanket)

GEJ: Reuben, its midnight. I'll see you in the morning. Goodnight.

Abati: Mr President I don't think we...(A loud interjection this time)

Mama Peace: Will you keep quiet??!!!!!!!

That jolted me back from sleep. Oh no, it was a dream.

Religion / Church, Money And The Public: They Tango by adewusi(m): 5:20pm On Dec 12, 2014
Much have been said and many have heard. Little are helped, but many more are not clear. These are the realities I have observed in the wake of online talks and counter-talks involving the church, money, and the public. One may have noticed that some try to sit on the fence either in indifference or in fear, it is important to note that there is no such fence. They are on a side. Those who have written several notes or commented, either condemning financial wrecklessness among church leaderships, or voicing allegiance for their leader no-matter-what, are doing so while taking a stand. Either on the church or on the public side. It follows that this piece also is an outlook from a statutory point; the church. It doesn't seek stop the debate, rather to help those on this side see what they oppose or defend avidly vividly. And perhaps make the public see what is really on this side before equally choosing whether to criticize or defend it.

The church- clearly put is a public, organized body of Christ; who is the head of it. Without Christ, there ceases at the same moment to be anything called Church. Christ is the blood and bone of the church. It is made up of believers who have been secretly or inwardly, and mysteriously redeemed and now publicly called Christians. They live by the Bible, which also is in the public. The history of the church is public. Very accessible. The purpose is public too; the Gospel, that Christ saves sinners. Now, there are gifted, appointed and elected leaders in this body who oversee the missions and the purpose. I believe everyone who has at least a sense humanity will agree that these fully dedicated people who have given up everything else should not become destitutes. Neither will the works (both human building or project execution) they oversee run on nothing. There is something that is needed 'secondarily' in both cases. Money.

Money. No organization on earth can run without it for wages, welfare, and buildings, infrastructures, bills and capital expenses. Not even the church! This is no secret and should not be shrouded as such. Every Christian earns and uses it independent of the church for diverse domestic and commercial purposes just like every human being (Acts 20:34, 11Thes 3:10-12). As it is a common currency and an inevitable material link between the church and the world, it is same between the individual believer and the world as long as he is on planet earth. Money is realised and spent. The only discordant point I suppose, is the manner of earning and spending.

The public is the target and mission of the church. The church is 'responsible' for the salvation of the public. Not a marketplace to display its goods in exchange for money or gifts, rather it is that vast expanse of farmland where several different plants can be taken and grafted into one single wondrous stem; the vine, Jesus Christ. The public is the courtroom full of people where the church makes a defense for Christ as witnesses here on earth. The church here is not the solicitor, neither is it the judge. Simply a witness. On the other hand, the public is made up of all people; Christians and non-Christians, learned and illiterate, ignorant and noble. Money is an essential commodity in the public, both in the hands of unbelievers and believers alike. The public doesn't need to come into the gathering of the church to earn money, it needs to come to Christ. Neither does the church need go into the public to seek or earn money.

Now, this inter-relation is the crest of the current tide, and I believe strongly that it is a misunderstanding of the roles of either side. The government of the church is on the shoulder of Christ, who has taught us to go into the world and preach the gospel of righteousness, peace and joy to all nations and not denying the same Gospel in the process. His words ring out loud enough that godliness with contentment is great gain, that men cannot receive salvation by giving gifts or offerings, and that we should not try to manouevre things because the gospel is the power of God unto salvation, that the way to truth is relative to Christ and Him alone. That He is the one that supplies us all things richly to enjoy therefore we should not trust in wealth or money but in Him. Nor pursue after the corruptible wealth but rather the incorruptible treasure. God.

He warned us before sending us out that His living words are enough to build or cause any believer to mature and not endless money-raking anniversaries, thanksgivings, church clubs, meetings and so on... Read the rest here»» https://bamsky007./2014/12/10/church-money-and-the-public/

Its called Enuresis which may have some causal factors. There are medications too such as Imipramine. But the best bet is to see a Urologist in tertiary hospital to do a thorough check-up and get appropriate treatment.

Events / Owambe; Our Thing by adewusi(m): 3:37pm On Dec 02, 2014
Known by 'englishers' with such words as function, ceremony and so on, we in the southwestern part of Naija prefer Owambe, yes Owambe, a name now being borrowed by other ethnic groups to describe their various parties. Also unpopularly called Ariya, the Yorubas are arguably the Nigerian tribe that elaborate events the most and have over the years, not surprisingly, industrialized it. We can sooo do party! Owambe- meaning (s)he is there; we are the ones doing things, (similar to ebeano in Igbo) not in the literal sense but in that african communal sense of belonging which makes the niece of the cousin of the maternal uncle of the celebrant's stepmother see the event as his own and he in turn invites his friends and friends of friends and associates to join in the feast. That is Owambe, the kind I guess, that Mary invited Jesus to, where He turned water to fine wine. Oh My. Even Jesus attended Owambe. He was there! Not the same as Mogbo-moya (I heard and I branched) translated as gate-crashing, meaning one don't need to know the celebrant or be invited, one just needs to hear there is a party somewhere. That's all.

Twice within two weeks I recently journeyed down to the headquarters of all Owambes in the Yorubaland; Lagos aka Gidi. Not of course as a crew member of Ovation, Veleta Celeb or Arise, but to be part of the frenzy and the celebrations. My very own friends' weddings. Its been a long time since my last ariya. Suffice to say that several of my friends from the other tribes have variously been amazed at the frequency and extent we have taken this lovable thing to. They often tell me things like "You Yoruba people and owambe, na wa o" To them we are just too extravagant and sometimes unnecessarily excessive. I agree with them but... Its nt like she asks u to unzip her jeans trousers or her skirts. If I am nt mistaking... Its dox kinda clothes dt usually have the zip at d back.

Find my way out of the house? what will I tell my brother?
That you are asking this question in the first place is a sign that you feel something is not right about it. Either its your emotion that is physiologically on fire and you wanna put it under control. Or the woman is suspect and doing this to lure you. Summary is something is not right either ways and it is better you FLEE either verbally (refuse to unzip any longer) or physically (find an excuse not to be around anytime she needs zipping and unzipping, for instance, you can form being in the restroom, or going out once she steps in at such times)
Literature / In The World Of Liars. by adewusi(m): 10:12pm On Nov 14, 2014
Below is an excerpt from the article

Lawyers are the other professionals who feature prominently in this matter. They can, and must lie, but should never be lied to. They are professional liars. They help to lie. They teach their clients how to lie productively while they mentally force their opponents to lie through cross examinations in the courtroom. The potential for victory in the courtroom lies in both the truthfulness of plaintiff or defendant to his lawyer and the lying skills and techniques, or say 'liability', of his solicitor with which he makes ends meet legally. They twist the law and possibly, if successful, twist the head of the judge (who also was once a lawyer) in their favour. The winner in the courtroom is not necessarily the right person, rather, its simply victory for the defendant or plaintiff. The better liar carries the day. But lawyers should not be lied to. However, we still lie to them. Any lawyer would agree that he has bad client in a liar. He would probably not win. If a legal battle will be won, a man will have to take his trouble truthfully in confidence to the licensed liars- the lawyers...
