Gud day bosses in da house

I just stumbled on ds thread n realised i have missed a lot
However i saw that there is still additional applications that closes by 31st of August in Centria Univ of applied sciences
I finished from OAU, CROP PRODUCTION, currently serving in Rivers state.

Can i still apply ?
I dont have English language test results yet but i read sumwia dt my school can write a letter to cover that owing to the fact that my undergraduate studies was in English.
I am planning to apply for both d MSc in Business admin and the undergraduate course in business admin.
Can i go ahead ?
Yes you can apply without English test. I got admitted without English test but for my program it was categorically stated that if u studied in English or u are from English speaking country u would be waved. They also listed the countries they considered English speaking on the faculty website and nija was right on the listsmiley

My friend tried it with Alto this year based on my experience I guess but he claimed there was similar info though on the school web as well. He had some foreign certificate as well, from Cambridgerolleyes but he bearly scaled through. He was denied admission based on not having English test. So since it was categorically stated on their site. We appealed the decision. Luckily they gave him conditional admission and asked him to submit his English test score within specific time frame (30days). So apply and register for English test immediately. U could supplement you doc if u don't feel very comfortable later though, during the processing period. At least u could buy some time by that approach. I talk too much smiley I know!

Appeal the decision promptly.
Get alternative source of funding or rectify identified itches as stated in the decision.
It's 50/50 but there is no crime in trying. A friend of my did and was later granted though different scenario.

Alternatively, differ your study place and re-apply next year with better package. Only I don't know if the school fee policy will affect deferrals.

Wish u all the best!
PHRANTAD:
Good day great bosses, a friend got a negative response from migri today.

Reason: Sponsors source of funds is not secure

Because he owns only 50% of the shares of d company.

What can she do? Whats d way forward for her?

Regardless of the time frame, stress or what ever u call it; Be wise and take to the boss advice!
1. It takes at least 3 - 6 months to go through Finnish driving school
2. The cost is minimum of 2,500e - 3,500e depending on school and package specified for you
3. Regardless of your driving skill or level u will have to go through this class if u come without your license
4. You will also go through the above process if your license is issued after u have arrived in Finland or
5. If you do not change it before 18-months after your arrival in Finland.

The stress of Finnish driving school + about 1m to get a license, do the maths urself.

Secondly, It could help you nack a job swiftly though nothing is certain. Lots of job adverts require people that can drive. I just got one because of that simple fact + grace of God. I use the company car because the location where I work is remote.

Lastly, this is just by the way. Driving on Finnish road is fun! Good roads and elite drivers make driving a different experience from what ever are u used to. Hope u roger that>>

frankie2K:

Ok. But considering the time frame of getting a license in naija is damn too stressful. Personally I dont have one but i learnt it will take 3-4 months to be ready. Let me ask,the DL is it necessary in the area of getting jobs or if u want to drive in finland?

Different strokes for different folks I will say! Opinion are subject to personal experiences; you can see the cup as half-full or half-empty depending on your perspective.

1. I could be wrong but I'm not sure u could get a perfect boot that soothes Finnish weather in nija (may be Okirika) but why should you carry extra luggage? You could find a better one perhaps in second hand shop here as well or even for free in student storage room.

2. If you are on any medication u should pack as much of those as possible, for over the counter drug; maybe a couple of packet. Prescription drugs; please don't. Student medical service is free of charge..... and local medical centre charges should be covered by your insurance.

3. You wanna buy those jeans bro, they can be very handy. You could get quality jeans at reasonable price here as well if you know the right places to go! But for a start I think you need those nija shirts and jeans before you get integrated into the system.

4. Dont waste you time, money and effort bro. You surely don't know the right spec right now. You could spend fortune to buy a single jacket though if you are a fashionista but cheap and free jacket are also available in the right locations. The weather is what it is, we be nija, deeply pigmented like you and we still de here.

5. Important and sensitive issue! I think the opinion you shared is reasonable.

NB. the above responses are personal, others may have a different view!

cosky:
Okay house... Real mata now...

I thought i should share this. I spoke with a friend of mine in Finland and the advice i got was;

1. Buy boots, boots, and boots because shoes are kinda expensive over there.

2. Buy enough antibiotics, pain killers and malaria tablets and what ever legit medic you can lay your hands on (Boys on codeine abeg oo grin grin ). He says you need a doctors prescription before you can get most of these drugs over there

3. Buy jeans, jeans, T-shirt and T-shirt because they are expensive as well.

4. You can buy jackets from nija but as he said even if you wear four jackets all together your balls will still shrink and your ni**les will get hard grin grin ...lol

5. For jobs...... We have to hope for the best.

Na so he be! Got mine online for renewal as well last two weeks. To folks coming to Jyväskylä u are most welcome to the the city of a thousand lake. If u don't have accomodation yet or you are yet to accept your offer and you are interested in sharing a flat with nija guys. A friend of mine just got a 2bed room offer with a lots of space and sitting room. You could claim one of the rooms and share the bills. Quite reasonable price and also save u the trouble of paying deposit. Pm for further detail.

Hello house,
Please did anybody for Masters study programme submit letter of employment? How important is it? I don't have a job.

And how much is the application fee in Naira? Can it be paid online?
I don't know what stage of the application you are referring to. It's important if you just applying to schools for admission. I know it add up to your point. If you are already at the stage of rp application, then all u need is your pay slip to prove your source of income if you have contributed substantial amount to your funding and you have so stated that you earn salary. I think you can pay any bill in naira your bank will deduct the currency equivalence. For how much it could be in naira u need know the exchange rate and use your calculator if need be.

I wasn't and still, I'm not apprehensive a bit. Just trying to keep the thread alive and also understand the sensitivity and/or insensitivity of the embassy folks. Nonetheless, thanks much. Nice to know you're a UIte too.

Bosses, e help wa!
I don't like to comment on issues like this cos it could be a wrong orientation and I don't want to be responsible for anybody's ish ooo. So please read this with caution and use ur discretion: I ignorantly wasn't very comfortable sending my doc. I took it with me on the day of the interview. I searched for scratch card tire, it seem it was out of stock during that time. But the staff I met was quite nice. Take home message: do ur best and hope for the best..... Boss, abeg how did you resolve this issue?? I would appreciate someone's help on ds.
Boss, that ish was not a big deal at all. No body ask anything regarding it at any point; embassy, uef, nor my department. I have an affidavit cos of nija palava then yet my affidavit was returned to me by the admission office (University of Ibadan). I was worried during my application to Finland cos I didn't know how they will handle such case. I forwarded the affidavit though as supplementary doc. So maybe u should get one or attached it as well if u had one. I also have friends here in Europe with similar background. Affidavit will come handy, will be my take home message. All the best!

Hello Nairalanders,

This thread has been very educative. Well done to you all. I missed the December/January application period for Masters Degree. I can see that applications will open again by March 16 and close by April 6, 2016.

However, I have browsed the entire studyinfo.fi website and cannot get some information needed for onward actions on my Finnish application/admission.

To this end, I will need the following information:

(1) Are there any English taught Masters courses application open in the March 16 to April 6, 2016 period?

(2) Kindly inform me if there is a center for the entrance examination for the March 16 to April 6 Masters application in Nigeria or some other country in West Africa. Or do i have to travel to Finland just to write the entrance exam?

(3) Can you please inform me of any English taught Masters courses application open in the March 16, 2016 to April 6, 2016 period that do not require an entrance examination.

Thank you and best wishes to us all.

Note that i have emailed several Finnish schools on this and will bring any useful reply on here as it may be of help to a fellow Nairalander.
Have not been here a long time but been following underground. Just thinks I should respond to this for reasons I don't know.

There will be courses thought in English during March application definitely. International masters program are thought in English and no other language.
I'm not aware of any entrance examination for masters program except undergraduate. But I could be wrong though. But the last time I checked, only language skills and BSc transcript is required.
For the courses available, u need to find out by ur self because university here have different courses and sometimes they are called different names. I hope this helps!

Regards to all my old dudes! As we enter Finland we come de bear our baba names abi? No lele. I de Jyvaskyla where n na put me oooooo. Lolz

Baba, weather is ok now. I heard this is about the best time u could have in Finland, being summer. The temperature is around 20 degrees. But forget no be the same level with those our China a.c temp. However no matter how cold it is outside, the houses are well heated that u will just feel like u de nija for ur room, na when u commot, like go outside u go know how far. But baba, magooooo... from September i hear say it will be a lot different, like the temp go drop below 0 degrees. So he go be indoor things! Sorry i have been ghosting here for some time. I tell u, u won't understand! But seriously i can't but identify with my brother 'Sureb0y'.
Speaking some guru for here, this is the advice. Approach the ish from both channel. Hold the insurance company responsible. They should even be the one spearheading the fight. They wont like u to go public with such information. So ur fight should start from there. Involve a layer and a media person in the struggle, they will supports u freely hopefully. Then the other fight should go immediately to migri. Don't depend on the abuja parole, they will just delay the matter and eventually there wont be any reasonable head way. If at all u want to submit any query for abuja u should do it through mail directly to the consulate (consul). Go through the process for appeal and follow the format with migri. Baba! abeg no dull ooooooo. This one no be ishe aiye or what ever and don't start to think irrational or helpless. Don't point any accusing finger especially at the embassy personnel, just be logical as possible, cos i bet u, if it is a Fins decision, he is just doing his job and no any personal strings.Baba i believe it is just one of the challenges to the top, so face it!!! cool

Bosses in the house, I hail ooooooo!
I am happy to tell u guys that, though it started like a dream but right now gbabe omo na reality. Live from Jyvaskila, the city of midnight sun!

I got to Helsinki around 7:30am yesterday was able to catch a train and head directly to Jyvaskila through the help of the info centre at the airport and of course my beautiful tutor (Valeria). The journey was not as smooth as painted though, I had one or two challenges expected of a jjc normally.

Please pay attention to some of my gist here, don't fall into the pit I had fallen!

Most importantly money: don't borther to change money from any Aboki or bureau de change ooooo if the exchange as at today is more than 251 naira to euro. U can comfortably use ur naira master card and get ur money in Euro at that price and sometimes lesser arround 249 at the ATM machines in Helsinki airport. I used my gt naira MasterCard here and that was the exchange rate with their charges included.

Yellow card: it is a fable! U don't need that shit. I got mine for 1.5k but it was just an extra luggage nobody asked for it or pay any attention to it even when I try to tender it to show off say I get complete document. But if u are not comfortable or to avoid the wahala of immigration for Nija cos they won't stop at nothing to extort u as a first timer!

Buy anything buy able and carry anything carry able cos when u get here u will definitely regreat leaving that stuff u call minor back home. I could not communicate or get some stuff done since yesterday cos my charger na three pin mouth. Here u can only find sockets with two round holes or small three round holes that I am not sure we have similar type in Nija........

Abeg I go continue later ...... Got to attend to something right now. Here dem no de play with punctuality ooooooo grin

Seriously I don't understand! The e-ticket issued to me states that I am entitled to 15kg luggage and 8kg hand bag. They even state the dimension of the bags allowed. I can't manage such meager weight! Food alone go cover such amount of weight stated. Hope the gist here is what is obtainable officially for Turkish air. I actually booked with Bravofly! Hope I never enter one chance?

Secondly, the issue of "yellow card". I can't get it from general hospital in my area (Ikd). Them say na ministry of health make I go. Can I get it on the day of departure at the airport, my cousin said I could get it for 5k same day.

Money matter na another ish. I no want carry cash cos I could be extravagant! Access bank say I could withdraw E with my naira Visa card. I have used gt master card in Ghana and Cote D'Ivoire and the exchange was reasonable. But that na cidies and cfa ooooo. The bosses in Europe, pls what is ur take on this.

Fellow Nija we de travel too, what is opinion of the first and second paragraph?
