Nova15: He's already married Mr. Oga, you don't have to chastise him all over again. I'm sure he's blaming himself for getting married already. Op sit your wife down and talk to her, if she refuses, leave the decision to her. A yoruba adage says, 'if your wife leave you, trouble has left you be that'. Marriage is for better for worse, if she can't endure the worst, then she's not fit to be a wife. 1 Like |

siamia: Quite interesting I must say. The question I get asked everyday is 'when are you going to get married Mr'. To make matters worse, most of my friends are married and I have started asking myself the same question and I go further to ask myself 'don't you think you're too old not to have your family?' On the flip side, I am hopeful, very very hopeful.... |

Business / CBN Forex Policy May Cause Factory Closure by adexolu: 6:19pm On Jul 13, 2015 |
The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Sunday said the Central Bank of Nigeria’s decision to stop foreign exchange sale to importers of 41 items might lead to the closure of many manufacturing companies in the country. According to the chamber, many of the listed items are raw materials, which manufacturing companies usually need for production. In a communiqué it issued after a public forum with officials of the CBN in Lagos, the chamber said the policy might lead to job losses. The communiqué, signed by the Director-General, LCCI, Mr. Muda Yusuf, and made available on Sunday, noted that the new forex rule could also lead to inflation and significant reduction in the nation’s Gross Domestic Product. It read in part, “Given the dominant role of the CBN in FX supplies in Nigeria and the fact that all three ‘official’ markets are excluded, the policy means manufacturers who require any of the 41 restricted items as input and raw materials for their production may have to simply shut their operations once the existing stock is exhausted. “The LCCI understands the CBN’s constraints and circumstances as it drew up this policy. It, however, appears as if the formulation of the policy has suffered from the CBN’s limited understanding of the manufacturing process of many of the sectors affected by this policy. Many of the restricted items are irreplaceable raw materials in the manufacturing process of many industries and this policy will cause significant damage to the Nigerian manufacturing sector and economy. We affirm that while there are several items on the list, which any patriotic Nigerian will not object to, there are many others that will harm the manufacturing sector.” Source: http://www.punchng.com/business/business-economy/cbn-forex-policy-may-cause-factory-closure-lcci/ |

Politics / Re: Presidency Orders Sack Of Civil Servants With 30 Years In Service And Above by adexolu: 8:35pm On Jun 21, 2015 |
justwise: Don't get this wrong, the caption of the thread is exaggerated, they are not being SACKED, it's going to be what you call a retrenchment and compulsory retirement and they are going to get their full benefits. Also do you know those who are over 30yrs in the ministry cuts across all the levels? And i am sure that majority will be in lower and middle levels like cleaners, clerks and the likes. Well try going to our ministries and see for yourself the decay and decadence there and you will have a better understanding. I have worked in the ministry and I am talking from experience. It's not because of their age, but their orientation generally. Also retirement is not the final solution but the starting point. Our leader should not be 72yrs old, but when he was the only credible candidate/opposition our political parties recommended, we had no choice but to vote for him. Whereas, in terms of the civil service, options abound. |

justwise: I understand you quite well, but there would always be collateral damage. We need a relatively young and dynamic labour force in the government ministries. It's easier for a 45 to 50 year Old person to champion change than a 60 year old. Take a look at this scenario compare GTBank to a Union Bank or First Bank. The former is young and dynamic and championing change in the Banking Sector in Nigeria and Africa while the later is just living on old glory and growing at a slow rate. There would always be collateral damage in any decision the government takes, but let's try to look at the long term benefits which would be - more young folks in government in future. It's because the youths and middle age folks are not given opportunities and our society has entrenched so much value to old age that we even have a 72yr old President. So let the change begin |

justwise: From the headline if it is true, it's only those that are 30 yrs and above that are going to be affected, not those who have spent less. So are you saying those that have worked for 10, 15, 20 and 25 years are not competent enough to man the affairs of the ministry? Certainly some good hands would be affected, but truth is most of these old guys are not inclined to new technology, they keep claiming things should be done the way things have always been done. We need change. Civil servants can't be compared with political officers. |

The government does not need to review any act before it decides to retire anyone as long as due notice is served and full compensation is paid as and when due. |

Ybnm4life: You should understand that the caption of the news is misleading. If the presidency is going to authorize this, they are not going to be sacked, they are going to be retired/ retrenched and they will also get their full entitlements. 1 Like |

Timbuktou: Guys don't ask for dates because most nigerian girls have no decency. She wants to go out on a date with you every time you ask but she's not interested in dating you. From experience, an 'oyinbo gel' will not even accept to go on a date with you if she has the slightest inclination the relationship will not work out and if she accepts, she's going dutch.... so my advice to you naija ladies, as long as you are not willing to pay, get used to 'come to my ous.......' Lmao. By the way 'OP' you mentioned restaurant in almost all the paragraphs nothing like park, museum, going for a walk etc...... I bow for you ooooh!!! you are a real naija babe.... 12 Likes 1 Share |
