Just one question, so everyone can be informed.... from the time you were first denied (plus the 3 consecutive denials), till the day you eventually got it.. How long did it take?

1st and 2nd, i wasn't prepared but third time i was so prepared but i wasn't lucky that day because over too know...but the fourth time i was so lucky even my case was treated special for about 12 mins"imagine" but she got no choice than to give me,above all i was so lucky..lol...here i am today, i know it worth all the stress if truly you wanna study. 1st,2nd was the same year and 3rd,fourth was also the same year..

[b]I don't know if they changed the rule, but the US visa denial letter I know about, usually states that you allow 6 months and make sure your circumstances have changed before re-applying. Even if they have stopped including that clause in their letter now (maybe to increase number of applicants and indirectly amount of money they garner from applicants), but it is always advisable to really make your circumstance change before re-applying. Desperation and re-applying ASAP for another interview will only spell doom and you will be seen as an INTENDING IMMIGRANT. Anything can happen though, and you might be lucky and be approved, but giving them that notion that you are an intending IMMIGRANT and not a NON-IMMIGRANT (F-1 Visa applicant) usually annoy them, and an example is re-applying as soon as you are denied.

Check this out. Nobody knows everything but with right information, you have the power to conquer a whole lot in life. I am a blogger and read a lot of things, (some juice and some crap) and I make use of the information I have to empower myself intellectually and tactically.

#2Reasons: Why Nigerians get their visa applications denied – US Consulate

The United States Consulate on Tuesday said the reason many visa applicants get their applications rejected is because they are yet to visit other countries.

The vice-consul, US Consulate, Christopher Richardson said this while speaking at a program tagged, ‘American Visa Regime: the role of lawyers’ organised by the Immigration Lawyers Forum (ILF) in Lagos.

“The majority of the visa applicants prefer the US as their first outing. This creates doubt, especially when the applicant has not visited any other countries before,” he said.

Richardson also said applicants were also rejected visas because of the kind of answers they give to test questions during interviews.

He reportedly said, “When a question, such as ‘do you have a relation in the US?’ Most often, they are quick to say ‘yes’, which of course, is in order.

“Such an answer creates doubt that since the person has a relation, there is every tendency that the person may not want to come back. So visas can be rejected on that ground.”

Titus Ajijola, the ILAF chairman said the seminar was designed to enhance the protection of migrant rights.

“Key strategies of the project are awareness raising, knowledge and skills improvement on the rules, as well as rights and obligations of migrants to encourage respect for the rights of migrants,” he said.

He said ILAF was designed to educate the general public on immigration matters.

The bolded might have changed his mind to approve your visa. Thing is, when they start typing, they are typing the reason why you can't be issued already, even before they officially verbally tell you that you have been denied. He just used that question to buttress his point on their database for the reason he denied you, and having no travel experience was part of it, so the next VO to interview you, will know what and what to look out for and ask. The assistant consular general of the US embassy in Nigeria, said the same thing in a media chat late last year that most Nigerians are denied solely based on the fact that they don't have any travel experience. Wait a while before re-applying ..possibly a year or two.. make your circumstances change, try to travel to a country during that period, SA, UAE or UK.. blah blah..and re-apply, you will definitely be issued, except you bleep it up yourself again.

WRONG advise....Embassy doesnt denied a genuine F1 applicant's because of travel experience.

The schools I mentioned have the same amount as tuition from 12 - 18 credits. As regards the cold, they will adapt. If you did, so would they!
Cold is not really a problem here, atleast is better than Arkansas,Alaska..lol..but surely you will need a car unless you staying in the dorm.

webstradamus: An interesting trend I have observed lately is people "suddenly" realizing they couldn't afford their tuition & fees immediately after obtaining their visas. I really wonder if they intentional avoid to lookup the fees at the time of application or maybe the fees weren't published at the time. I think people should cut their coat according to their cloth. There's no need applying to a school you cannot afford except you are hoping to get some scholarship/assistantship (assuming you are extremely qualified). Even at that, always have a Plan B because funding is not usually guaranteed. Proper planning prior to leaving Nigeria is key to your survival here in the US.

There are a number of good and affordable Universities in the US. Do your research! In my time, I realized it was even possible to get automatic in-state tuition even as an international student! For example, if you can withstand the cold in Minnesota, I can confidently tell you it's one of the most affordable states to study in the US. Minnesota State University Moorhead, Minnesota State University Mankato and St. Cloud University all offer in-state tuition for international students. This means you could be paying less than $4000 for a 12-18 credit semester!

Please do your research carefully so you don't end up being frustrated in the US. Like I said earlier, proper planning is key to your survival here.

Dont get it wrong bro,4k is per semester which is just 12 credits units,so the more you add to your credit, the more your money pilled up, I school in SD so i know whats going on down here but to be honest with you guys life is easy here and accommodation is cheap too. Over here you will surely see fresh food and fruits.BUT BUT BUT BUT COLD COLD COLD COLD COLD COLD SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW FULL here..lol..

Gurus in da house. Can I reapply by the end of this week? I was been frustrated by the VO because she kept on interrupting me anytime I try to give an answer to a question that demands an explanation. In the end she said I was not able to convince her and she gave me a white paper and passport and said, “the reason for my refusal is on that white paper. She did not look at any of my documents apart from my receipt. Below is how the interview went:

ME: Good morning
VO: your receipts and passport
ME: I gave her my receipt, I -20, and passport
VO: Where are you going?
ME: The university of Texas at Dallas
VO: Why UT Dallas?
ME: The University of Texas at Dallas provides research opportunities…………….. she did not let me complete my answer and she interrupted me

VO: Sir don’t tell me what you have already rehearsed, you are pissing me off, give me your own reasons.
VO: How many schools did you apply?
ME: Only UT Dallas
VO: When did you complete High School?
ME: 2005
VO: What have you been doing with your life for the past seven years?
ME: I furthered my education at Yaba Polytechnic and obtained an HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
VO: Who is your sponsor?
ME: My uncle
VO: What does your uncle do?
ME: I explained
VO: Did you take the SAT test?
ME: No, I took the TOEFL
VO: what do you plan to do with your degree?
ME: I plan to come back to my……………. She did let me complete my answer
VO: Please Sir this is what I have been telling you, don’t tell me what you have already rehearsed.
VO: Have you traveled outside your country before?
ME: No
The VO typed something on her computer and told me, ” you have not been able to convince me, the reason for your refusal is explained on this paper”. And she gave me a white sheet and my passport.
Please why did she interrupted me frequently?
Please where did I go wrong?
Was my approach on how I answered the questions not the best?
I hope to hear from you because I want to reapply by the end of this week
Thank you

Is always good to listen,be watchful and study each of those VO immediately you enter the hall because it make you know what they want and each strategy in asking questions ...if you are watchful she might have denied many applicant previously on the same case..Less than 2 hours of your 24 hours changes many thing in your whole life..so next time be watchful whenever you are inside that HALL...
