Reading your interview, I thought you had the it. Your first 3 answers were on point. I don't feel bad for you because you stated that you're an avid reader of this thread so you're aware that you gave the VO a reason to deny you. TAKE AT LEAST ONE STANDARDIZED TEST.

Anyways, i think this is where you screwed up.
VO - Did you take any test?
Me - No, i was admitted based on my undergrad n professional certs (i should've shown him something - first flop)See?

VO - What does he do? (Your bro)
Me - Realtor (i should have brought out the letter n statement but i didn't, waiting for him to ask but he didn't---2nd flop i think) You need to be proactive. Don't wait to be asked instead, sell yourself as a marketer will do. You might want to tweak the realtor part and hype your bros business a lil bit....I think

Go ahead and reschedule another date maybe in December. Study intensively for 2 weeks, day & night and take the GRE(i know its expensive but just do it ... My GRE scores were abysmal, but I tried, at least). You'll get the visa this time, don't worry. I'm always on this thread cos' my two cousins are coming for Ms. Info. Tech and the other Intl business (Intl transfer student with a NIG bachelors) for Spring '13. They haven't even received their I-20 yet. I'm excited!!!

You said it all

Thanks Jimtosam..

1. Yes i read the test part severally and was at some point thinking of taking it but timing wasn't right for me as i've already gotten the admission and interview date was close.
2 & 3. Noted..
4. No i didnt go with study leave approval.
5. I graduated 2008, served immediately, travelled out for a year for prof certifications and started working since 2010.

PLS and pls take your time to take a standard test....it help sometimes in your case and always try to show up documents to defends yourself if you have the documents and those professional certificates.

yoged: For me HELL NO. As a xtian its forbidden, its even in the bible. Reminds me of a friend of mine, her husband tatooed her name on his hand and my friend was even bragging about it. I let her know its irresponsible man that'll do such tins and showed her the bible account that forbids it, LEVITICUS 19:28. Na so my friend vex with me ooo saying am calling her husband irresponsible, she gave her pastor my pin, he added me telling me rubbish. Well, later apologised to my friend, she still remains my good friend. Well, she told her husband to clean it which he did.
If you still depends your life on Old testament bible verses then you dont need to watch TV or use internet , Laptops......

Ope nla! If it includes int'l UG.

GboyegaD:

Thank you for the information however, the school you quoted cost approximately $5400 per school year which amounts to at least $20000. What is being implemented is that the 4years of school which amounts to at least 120credit hours would cost at most $10000. It is a new law that would be implemented from Fall, 2013.

I WILL BE HAPPY OOOOO..........

Can you seek admission to University without sitting for any necessary exam but tell them you only registered for those exams? Pray they don't ask because caught lying would be detrimental to your dreams. Since it's not required by your school and you've taken the important one (GRE), just go with that in case you are not given the opportunity by the ETS.

You got point my broda...No need of lying, tell VO your school does not require it , moreover, na every 2 weeks den dey write TOEFL...if you wish to write it again, register for it before the interview and go do it..simple.. just read over again, you got GRE already, why TOEFL...lol....?

Allohrandy: 10. always tip the waiter or bar-tender any time you go to the restaurant or a bar. The first time i went to a restaurant in downtown San Francisco,i didn't tip the waiter after paying for my bills because i did not know of the tipping rules in America. As i was about to leave the restaurant, the waiter started insulting me and i felt really embarrassed. so when i went back to my hostel and told my friends about what happened, they were all laughing at me. they told me that i must always tip a waiter, a doorman or a bag boy, bar-tender or a taxi driver 20 percent of my total bills. its like an unwritten law in America ( America is a really funny country, if you asked me ) But you don't need to tip at the fast food joint or supermarket.

Tip ko, tip ni....They buy me drinks here.....even give me free ride to where ever am going to...Imagine finding your self in a big supermarket and you realize you are the only BLACK GUY and an ALARM rang......Wat will you do lol....some people dont know the usefulness of the I-20 you got....lol......Why did you pay Sevis fees...YOU ARE OMO IJOBA as long as you dont commit.....

Ovap, here`s what I think about standardized test requirements/preference. Your school sets the rules. If your school says its a requirement, then it is a must that you have it. If its a preference, it is a matter of choice. If it is neither a requirement nor preference, you have no business with it. Like someone said, these are Americans. Yes, so am I and a whole lot of us. Being an American does not make you a small god. You need to be able to defend yourself when someone question your choice. If someone askes you " Why didn`t you take GRE?", if it is not a requirement, the answer should simple be my course of study does not require that I take GRE. Simple. That is the simple truth. If you`re asked "Why didn`t you take TOEFL? The answer should be "Since the language of instruction for my undergrad studies is English, I am not requred to take a test of English". Again, simple. For the sake of all that is holy, aren`t we speaking English? ( Oh well I know we`re not writing English).
I think it is high time we let "people" know what we are made of and wht we can do. Why take TOEFL if it is not required? Why let someone question your ability to speak a language you were not taught? To many of us, English is like a second mother tongue. We didn`t learn it, we simply started speaking it. We need to actively stop giving the impression that we can only speak in monkey. If you need a TOEFL waiver, write an impressive statement of purpose. Simple. If you`re asked why you got a waiver, tell the VO your statement of purpose was from out of this world. Oh, shhhhh don`t tell the VO I said this but I bet he/she will not pass the TOEFL.

My suggestion is go for your interview with confidence knowing you have done all that is required of you. The VO does not expect you to go above and beyond what the school expect of you. You have satisfied the school requirement, there is nothing like the VO requirement. These are people who have been trained to do what they do; they do not expect you to be a genius. For all you know the person interviewing you may be a 26 year old with nothing more than a high school diploma (Ha ha ha... here goes the American) and guess what? Because he sees the fear in you, he capitalises on your vulnerability and squeezez life out of you for the 3 mins you are in front of him/her. Take charge. Be confident. The VO is American, You are Nigerian.

I wish you luck!

Taking any of this test with good grades boost the chances of getting your US VISA,It shows seriousness in you for back up when you are about messing up at the Interview. We talking about US VISA INTERVIEW not UK VISA application.Take NOTE..{Give Caesar What Belongs to Caesar} and get your VISA.all you need is just the Green ticket..

From d first day i knew dat kanye blakass was on a mission from illuminati to come break this two apart and he succeeded in doing that by flashing money & stewpid contracts in the faces of don jazzy & dbanj. Now (if d report by city pple is true) he comes pretending as if he didnt know until three months ago. What is that? I blame don jazzy & dbanj for fallin cheap cos of international fame (which in my opinion they already had without kanye).
They should beta get some sense, kick kanye aside & glue back 2geda to do what they know how to do best. Nunsense!

Cut the crap , whats Illuminati in this, All of them belong to one thing and the other both dbanj, don jazzy...this is a matter of choice and interest, Don Jazzy should thank Dbanj for making him RIch and D banj should thank Don Jazzy for giving him Fame....Don Jazzy knows he can never build someone like Dbanj again...But there is alot of Producer out there, just one nice HIT.....

ocman: This is just a clear proof that Nigeria is a talkative country. We talk too much and do less. much words, less action. That is why we are this way. Millions of words and No action. Billions of words in campaign manifestos and lofty promises, yet nothing...we brag on how to tackle boko haram yet nothing to show. Obama said just few words about osama bin laden, the rest was action

Naija cant talk on phone, you better put it like this, Those people are ripping Nigerians..They are thieves....While in Naija , I never spent 1 hour on phone before but whenever i calculate the amount of air time i buy in a month, is going 15k.....but in UK or Yankee i can talk for good 1 hour witout stopping and I only pay 50$ for the whole month wit internet.......check out the diff
