I am so excited today. This is because of the great news I received from two ex-students of GIS. First is the news from Unilag where a 2010 graduate of GIS, Hassan Eniola, is leading his faculty with a GPA of 4.91. Whille we were celebrating this incredible feat, we got news from Covenant University. There our own Austin Queensly, another 2010 graduate of GIS, recorded a GPA of 4.85!

What other proof do you want that Goodwill International School, Ikorodu is the secondary school to attend so a solid foundation can be laid?

Below are the two leading ambassadors of GIS!

Christianity EtcRe: Bible Study Materials by adros84(m): 10:47pm On Mar 15, 2011
@ thehomer

You've asked reasonable questions and I think Image has given some answers. But I wish to answer that question on what use the Bible will be in heaven.

The Bible is God's navigator or map given to us to lead us in our walk to heaven. None knows the way to heaven and that is why the world is full of human efforts at getting there. Heaven belongs to God and only He knows how we can get there. If you follow the Bible and get to heaven, you will find that you won't need it there just like a map ceases to be useful at the end of the journey. Besides, the centre of the Bible is Christ and when we get to heaven, we shall be in his very presence. We wont be reading the Bible again because we would be dwelling in the presence of the living word.

I appeal to you to take time out to study the Bible. If you do it meditatively, you will experience its power to transform your life the way no other book has.

As for 3 and 9 and 23 time 9, I did say in my earlier posts that these are study aids to help those just studying the Bible for the first time to remember the number of books in the KING JAMES VERSION of the Bible.

Permit me to share with you what some great men have had to say about this wonderful book:

"The empire of Caesar is gone; the legions of Rome are smouldering in the dust; the avalanches of Napoleon
hurled upon Europe have melted away, the prince of the pharoahs is fallen; the pyramids they raised to be
their tombs are sinking every day in the desert sands; Tyre is a rock for bleaching fisherman's nets; Sidon has
scarcely left a wreck behind; but the W-RD OF G-D still survives: All things that threatened to extinguish it
have only aided it; and it proves every day how transient is the noblest monument that men can build,
how enduring is the least W-rd that G-D has spoken" - Albert Baird Cummins

"To what greater inspiration and counsel can we turn than to the imperishable truth to be found in
this Treasure House, the BIBLE?" - Queen Elizabeth

"I have known ninety-five of the world's greatest men in my time, and of these eighty-seven were followers of the BIBLE.
The BIBLE is stamped with a Specialty of Origin, and an immeasurable distance separates it from all competitors" -W.E. Gladstone

"To the influence of this Book we are indebted for the progress made to civilization and to this we must look at
our gut de in the future" -Ulysses S. Grant

"It is impossible to mentally or socially enslave a BIBLE reading people. The principles of
The BIBLE are the groundwork of human freedom" -Horace Greeley

"The BIBLE is , as necessary to spiritual life as breath is to natural life. There is nothing more essential to our lives
than the Word of GOD." - Jack Hayford

"All human discoveries seem to be made only for the purpose of confirming more and more strongly
the truths contained in the Sacred Scriptures" - Sir William Herschel

"Men do not reject the BIBLE because it contradicts itself but because it contradicts them." - E. Paul Hovey

"England has two books; The BIBLE and Shakespeare. England made Shakespeare, but the BIBLE made England" - Victor Hugo

"The existence of the BIBLE, as a book for the people, is the greatest benefit which the human race has ever experienced.
Every attempt to belittle it is a crime against humanity"
***
A single line in the BIBLE has consoled me more than all the books I ever read besides" - Immanuel Kant

Abraham Lincoln
"Without Divine assistance I cannot succeed; With it I cannot fail!"
***
"I am busily engaged in the study of the BIBLE. I believe it is G-D's W-rd because it finds me where I am
***
"I believe the BIBLE is the best gift G-D has ever given to man. All the good of the Savior of the world is
communicated to us through the Book. But for it, we could not know right from wrong? - Abraham Lincoln

"The BIBLE is one of the greatest blessings bestowed by G-D on the children of men -- It has G-D for its Author, Salvation
for its end, and Truth without any mixture for its matter. -- It is all pure, all sincere; nothing too much; nothing wanting" - John Locke

"The book to read is not one which thinks for you, but the one that makes you think.
No other book in the world equals the BIBLE for that" - James McCosh

"The more profoundly we study this wonderful Book (the BIBLE), and the more closely we observe its divine precepts,
the better citizens we will become and the higher will be our destiny as a nation" - William McKinley

Oh, I could go on and on. Many of these were great statesmen, academicians, authors, poets etc. They all acknowledged the Bible as God's word and testified to the impact it had in their lives and which it is still capable of having in our lives today.

In my next post, I will show a list of men who in their folly opposed the Bible and tried without success to destroy it. Many of them regretted at the end of their lives.

Thanks for the tens of inquiries that this thread has generated from within and outside Nigeria. Please note that the first entrance examination comes up on Saturday March 19, 2011. As we only have vacancies for 60 intakes in JS 1(3 arms of 20 each), the process promises to be as competitive as ever. On October 1 2010, Goodwill International School Celebrated Nigeria at 50 with pomp and pageantry. One of the programmes of the day was a mock senate meeting involving students from 12 schools. Above, a student of Goodwill, 'a distinguished senator' representing one of the Northers states, contributes to the motion of the day: "Nigeria @ 50: What future for the Nigerian Child?"

If you have relations paying through their noses to send their children to private secondary schools, then help them to cut down on the cost of educating their children.

I know a school that is well equipped, well staffed, emphasizes moral training, achieves excellent results in WAEC/NECO/SAT/TOEFL examinations and yet very affordable.

Check out www.goodwillinternationalschools.com.

My sister finished from this school last year, made 9 distinctions(no cheating please), passed SAT and got scholarship offers from three American universities. Check the result section of the website for her results details.

I watched Okotie's interview on one TV station and I was disappointed because the man could not answer simple questions. He could not sell his ideas if he had any. he spent all the time criticizing the PDP. I won't vote fr any aspirant who is unable to tell me what he will do about the myriads of problems facing theis country especially the power sector.

Christianity EtcRe: Govt Bans External Loud Speakers At Religious Centres by adros84(m): 10:51pm On Jul 05, 2010
I am a Christian but before now, I have always complained about this unchristian attitude by churches. Why in Christ name should a Church place speakers outside the Church during services? Do they not realize that others have a right to a quite time in theor homes or offices or shops? Would Christ have done the same? You need to visit some churches. Those inside the church may not be more than twenty and yet they have speakers inside and outside the Church! What for? So I think government should implement this to the letter. Any Church that refuses to comply should be sealed off and fined heavily. Be that as it may, the fact remains that Nigerians love noise-making. If you doubt me, visit the motor parks, market places. Must conductors shout themselves hoarse to let us know where they are heading? some of them now use loud speakers. Same goes for traders! Government should ban these noisemakers too!
