You must think landing an aircraft flying at 33000 ft is like landing a helicopter.

There are standard procedures pilots must make before initiating a landing plus aircrafts make a gradual descent rather than a straight dive to the ground.

The pilots must have stabilised the aircraft and decided it was safe to make it back to Lagos.
