I think it's $220. Yes of course I plan on paying before I leave Nigeria so I can have it delivered to me on time.
Check US fee schedule. It's $235US.

Why? Did their medical expire?

I thought the Visa expires when the medical expires.
Embassy has not issued the visas, so medicals expired. Today, embassy said, go and redo medicals...fam of 5.

I need clarification on something now. Do I have to pay another fee for my green card or does the Visa fee I paid during nvc stage cover it?

Please I'd like you to paste the link of the US residents thread.
You will pay another money for the green card. It is called ELIS fee and it is 325USD! Pay before you leave Nigeria. Tell your petitioner to pay for you or sth.

After submitting the additional documents they asked me to submit after my interview, my Visa got approved (1st of July) exactly 2 months after submission.

It was like a dream come through when a lady called from the embassy to give me the good news. I had thought I was going to be in for a long time due to all the negative comments I have been reading on all immigrant Visa forum on Facebook and other social media platforms about administrative processing. But God made my case different.

My Visa expires on the 11th of August exactly 6 months from the day I did my medical. When I went to collect my Visa, the lady at the DHL office told me the Visa expiration date started counting from the day I did my medical as opposed to the day the Visa was issued.

Thank you @Aestake and @Taal17, you guys have been immensely helpful throughout the process. I appreciate y'all.

Who would have thought I'd be here today making travel plans instead of the usual worrying, bothering and having sleepless nights about the situation.
Congratulations! My friend's bro got a mail today for their medicals to be redone. Another 1.5 sth million. Chai. Book a flight and head out.

That is how you agbadorians twist everything. his father became a US citizen in 1984 and gave birth to him in 1986. so his father was a US citizens before he gave birth to him. but in all of this his father is the one to be blamed for his woes, how the hell will he filled his own child nationalities as Jamiacan when he himself seeked a US citizenship. i guess this is a case of an overzealous cultural berated dad who thinks his children should trace their root. he doesnt want to guy to forget his fathers land, hence the reason for filling Jamaican in his visa form. Now he has achived his aim after his death. kudos to him. When I tell people that culture is a scam they will not agree.
Did you read the article. I know it is lengthy but the father couldn't confer US citizenship to him after birth in Germany. He had to get him LPR status and that required a nationality when processing. They got to the US, the father fought and Courts including Supreme court ruled against interpreting US military base oversees as a US soil. Secondly, he had not enough physical presence to confer this citizenship..10 yrs was the rule and he had 9 yrs. Why didn't Kenya confer their citizenship on him? You no go ask that one.

Exactly. He can't be committing crime and expect to remain in the US. Sorry for him.
His father was also not responsible. He should have filed for him when he was born
How was the father irresponsible? If you are a US citizen and have a child outside the US when your physical presence in the US is not met, your children ain't gonna be bequeathed with US citizenship. The fault is the guy, he got to the US as LPR, but has been busy committing crimes.

Whose fault was it that his father didn't fix it before he brought him to the US and besides the father wasn't a US citizen at the time he gave birth to him in 86 and then the guy himself has been aware since 20008 and yet did nothing to regularize
His father was but his physical presence was a year short of bequeathing US citizenship to his son.

Hey guys, one of my friends' parents got "come to embassy to have your fingerprints taken" in two weeks' time. However, this was done last February and they had to fly to Lagos from Abuja 4 times in the course of this process. Everyone is tired of this dribbling.

I told my friend to respond with an email. He has done so with these email addresses: LagosIV@state.gov and nigeria@usvisaappt.

Any other email address?
The couple got the visas, traveling in 3 weeks because the visa expiration is short.

The other of my friend's brother has no movement; family of 5. The USC brother had sued everyone. Way to go!

Na wa! This ADC doesn't look like it will make us return to Nigeria. Same old crackers!
amnotapervert:
Sad but true—Nigeria is far behind, and at the pace we’re going, many of us may not see a better Nigeria in our lifetime.

Do you know what it means to be the 3rd poorest country in the world?
Do you know how far behind we are on the global stage?
Do you know that Nigeria isn't even at the table when policies affecting Africa are being discussed?

We’ve become a joke.
The damage the APC government has done will take at least 30 years to correct—and let’s be honest, most of us here are already in our late 30s or 40s.

Every country has its problems—Canada has plenty—but I don’t believe you should limit yourself by thinking Nigeria will magically get better. Give yourself and your family options.

When leadership in Nigeria changes for the better, I’ll be the first to return and run my family business full time.

But for now, I have the opportunity to play on the global stage—and I’m taking it I beg you all to do the same.

Remember, most Nigerian politicians—and their families—don’t even use the Nigerian passport as their primary passport.

You’re simply trying to create options for yourself and your family.

Canada isn’t perfect, but at least I have options from both worlds—Nigeria and Canada
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by aestake: 2:31am On Jul 06, 2025
Or Nigeria gets better leadership!
GraciousWords:
This is my old mantra but still relevant in the changing landscape.

Federal government and the Provinces are quarreling....kind of - result is a few PNP draws with less than 1,000 being called at each draw.

Canada is a very compassionate country... honestly..... so they are trying to accommodate CECs as much as possible - result is a few more CEC draws compared to General.

Even CBDs draws have been few and far between.

The largest consistent draws over the last 2 years with the lowest CRS score have been the French draws.

My advice remains - bite the bullet & learn French (additional CRS points wise and money wise) - not easy at all but it's the most rationale choice now if you look at the options coldly.

With French you'll still be ahead in 2 years time than someone who went to Canada as a student and completed a 1 or 2 yr degree, has 1 year Canadian work experience (CRS grid facts) and you'll spend far far far FAR less money - student POF (excluding tuition & travel fees) is no joke.

There's always the chance of a miracle but prepare like there's none on the horizon. Stay hopeful, pray that the odds will favour you more often than not, but please do the needful.

#Learn French
#YouGotThis
#YouCanDoIt

Life is indeed beautiful here, sometimes stressful if you have young children and very expensive!

PS: I'm not a French tutor, but there are a few options that others have used over the years on the TEF thread...link here:

All these people saying he should come back home are just jealous that the guy is running a PHD in the States. Come back home to do what, exactly? If you think that the guy has any intention of coming back home, you are dreaming. He is a research student, which is a STEM program. Nigeria is not for him. He may even struggle to get a teaching job in a polytechnic without connection. However, if he is found guilty of identity theft or any crime, he should be deported. I hate it when Nigerians go abroad and starts committing crime.

The attacks are in very remote areas mostly without good roads, telecom facilities and light, most of the people here are just poor peasant farmers the herders are obviously on a mission to take over their land but unfortunately the system that should protect them have failed them, there is a ban on open grazing in the state so what are the herders doing in the forest ? is there a country where its citizens are killed in their homes daily in such a manner without repercussion on the assailants and we all carry on like all is okay? The worst that will happen is to allow people to be pushed to the extent of taking up arms to defend themselves, we are sitting on a ticking time bomb.
One Nigeria, igbo man must not rule.
