I was quoting the guy who misread what the OP wrote and said that. His Canadian PR isn't tied to any job or work contract is what I was pointing out. It is for 5 years, then he either renews or apply for citizenship.

Sponsorship is the term commonly used for UK Immigration. It exists as well in the Canadian Immigration System, however, It is just commonly known as Work Permit. OP however is a Permanent Resident (PR).
